I'm slowly checking off items from my to-do list. Today's item is a project I started 18 years ago and then seemingly abandoned - but like any good horror movie villain, it has returned, and it's out for blood. That's right, I am talking about the new games hub!

This page lets you get together with your closest friends and/or robots and play one of the following games:

* Scum (also known as jackass), a shedding game I learned from a Canadian.

* Durak (дурак, "fool"), a shedding game I learned from a Russian.

* Euchre (/ˈjuːkər/), a trick-taking game I learned from the most exotic ethnicity of all, the American Buckeye.

You can view the rules for these games on the games hub. Each game has a few options for playing it:

* Live or slow tables: You can sit down with a timer or you can play what is essentially a correspondence game, with on-board and (if it works correctly) e-mail notifications when it's your turn. Some of these games can take 500+ turns collectively, so, uh, godspeed if you're on slow mode.

* Bots: There are almost as many games to choose from as there are active users on this website, so you can fill out a dead table with some robots. You can also play solo with your new robot friends. The bots in question have extremely simple procedural behavior but sometimes they just draw better than you do. Rigged?

* Gambling: You can also wager shrines on these games. You guys remember shrines?

Speaking of shrines, you can now spend shrines on cosmetics in the Shrines Shop: card faces and card backs. These are mix-and-matchable.

Your stats for finished games are shown on your own profile page, along with game logs. The good elements of your stats should also be visible when other people look at your profile, but I'm not entirely sure that works yet. You can also access game logs in your profile, which can be inserted into messages with the <game id=...> tag. They look like this:

I also added some moderation features for table hosts and site-wide moderators and did some future proofing when it comes to new users (lol) and game-specific mods, in case we ever need that. Table hosts and mute and/or kick users, and when they do, this can generate a notification in the mod queue for a mod to review; mods can suspend players from games specifically, and in principle can ban or suspend users from the boards based on their game activity, but currently there is no direct way to do so. Somehow I don't think this will come up.

This update also comes with a handful of small bug fixes you probably won't notice.

I don't expect to expand the list of available games anytime soon. I opted for these games specifically because they're somewhat unusual games I've personally played, but I don't have that much experience with classic 52-card-deck games besides poker, which I think may be better suited for places where you can actually make money off it.
