| Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | Let's see. Vampires are typically Transylvanian, so the name would have to be Hungarian or Romanian. In Romanian, Seripmav Etomed would probably be pronounced (displayed here in an arbitrary phonetic notation I just made up) "shehreep'mahv [?y]eh'tohmehd" and would obviously be a really unusual name. In Hungarian, the issue is complicated because of the nonregular implementation of vowel harmony in anything, let alone loanwords (since this is about as native Hungarian as apple pie). But let's assume it's a native Hungarian name with vowel harmony. Then it's still hard to determine how it would be pronounced, but a good approximation would be "shehreepmehv ehtohmehd", though Seripmav would probably be written Seripmev. I have no idea where accent goes. So they're basically the same. However, Seripmav is marginal as a first name in both languages even on a "what if" basis, and Etomed is 0% Romanian or Hungarian, 50% Hebrew, 50% "demote" backwards. So there's that. Dyslexic Jewish vampires, anyone? ___ ~ Ogordemir ~ "The sciences have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age." ~ H.P Lovecraft, The Call of Cthulhu |
