| Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | Jesus, how often do you people buy computers? ___ ~ Ogordemir ~ "The sciences have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age." ~ H.P Lovecraft, The Call of Cthulhu |

| Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | Yeah, the computer I'm using is probably around 4 years old at least, and even then I still feel weird about categorizing it as "very old." Not new, certainly, but... --- xp1337: Don't you wish there was a spell-checker that told you when you a word out? |

| Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | Erm. A computer that is a month old is old and out of date >_> So yeah, a year - 2 year old computer literally is quite old. <-> "What the fuck is Alice doing in Wonderland anyway? | Level: 37 Advanced | This isn't the 90s/early 2000s <.< Hardware while constantly advancing has outclassed software so much, that consumer software is having a difficult time keeping up, thus things don't exactly go "Out of date" quite as fast that they once did. Just sayin' --- SIEG ZEON, dood! |

Yeah, this. You don't need Deep Blue to open a browser and use Word simultaneously. If my previous laptop hadn't flown the coup I would have been perfectly fine with something I got in like 2006.

| Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | Okay! Fine. I won't make anymore polls from now on <-> "What the fuck is Alice doing in Wonderland anyway? Who the fuck told her she could leave the god damn kitchen in the first place?" -Random guy on Xbox Live http://www.backloggery.com/kodan882 |

| Level: 44 DSB Moderator | I take offense at that... my computer is about 7 years old and runs great. Of course I've replaced the graphics card twice and upgraded its memory to the max that the motherboard can allow, changed OS twice and purged it three times due to anti-virus things not doing what they say they'll do... --- "In the best relationships, nobody wears the pants." |

| Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | Kodan your polls are great, for they spur discussion! More polls! MORE POLLS GODDAMMIT ___ ~ Ogordemir ~ "The sciences have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age." ~ H.P Lovecraft, The Call of Cthulhu |

| Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | Also, if we're judging a computer "good" because it can open a browser and word, then I have a laptop from 2001 that can do both that apparently is "good" by those terms. >_> <-> "What the fuck is Alice doing in Wonderland anyway? | Level: 37 Advanced | Well if you want to specifically judge by date, then two people go to a computer store. One person buy high-end components to build oneself a really high end machine. The other person buys a low-end machine pre-assembled in a box. Both got a machine the same day, one is clearly "outdated" <.< --- SIEG ZEON, dood! |

That and media playback are basically all I do, and although I doubt a ten-year-old laptop would have the memory or processing power to maintain that state perpetually (if at all), anything that was current in the past five years should be capable of doing so.
