| Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | Does it even exist? ___ ~ Ogordemir ~ "The sciences have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age." ~ H.P Lovecraft, The Call of Cthulhu |

| Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rift_%28video_game%29 It's a World of Warcraft-like MMO. It was hailed as a WoW killer when it released (Of course it didn't hurt WoW in anyway) <-> "What the fuck is Alice doing in Wonderland anyway? | Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | 1 million subscribers? I wonder if these people subscribed to this in addition to some other MMO, like WoW. One would imagine that due to the time demands of an individual game, that isn't the case.

| Level: 37 Advanced | In 2009 WoW had 12 mil. subcribers. In late 2011 they were down to 10 mil. Hmm... --- SIEG ZEON, dood! |

| Level: 37 Advanced | Sadly, MMORPGs are becoming old. it's not WoW's fault i find, it's just the games in general. That's why i always say: If you want to beat a MMORPG... you go the MMOFPS route. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=SIE42ZfdKbI Yes, it's more Planetside 2 news, but seriously... it shall not be ignored! --- "But friends, i ask you. | Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | MMOFPS sounds like it could get pretty tedious. So... just like MMORPGs!

| Level: 44 DSB Moderator | MMO anything is tedious. And tends to have a monthly subscription fee attached to it, which makes the developers want to string out content for as long as possible to keep you paying, rather than making anything feel rewarding... instant gratification in MMOs is rare. --- "In the best relationships, nobody wears the pants." |

| Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | MMO anything is tedious. And tends to have a monthly subscription fee attached to it Unless of course it's a "free to play" MMO, and then they nickle and dime you to get ANYWHERE in the fucking game, it's like a subscription fee only worse in the fact you have to CONSTANTLY pay for everything. Me? I prefer the subscription fee model. Sadly, more and more MMOs are going the FTP route because people are stupid "HOLY SHIT THIS MMO IS FREE???? FUCK THE OTHER GAMES. HEY I CAN SPEND REAL MONEY TO BUY WORTHLESS SHIT IN GAME" <-> "What the fuck is Alice doing in Wonderland anyway? | Level: 37 Advanced | Depends on how it's done. a MMOFPS that's designed i find to be like a war that can go on forever and try to fix the key fundamental that usually kills FPS games, like repetition, can definitely fix the game. the more i look at a game like PS2, it feels generic, but lacks the bad formulatic feeling you get in other FPS games since there's a constant fight for money and power in this game for your army, which makes it feel more realistic i find. As for subscription based games, i really only find the best thing they do is minimize the people that are too dumb to live, but it seems like these days, any game has them X3 --- "But friends, i ask you.
