What Link has been doing there has honestly been pretty otherworldly. Given what he was up against, I expected him to be destroyed. What Link's been doing, especially in the beginning, was honestly the most impressive contest performance I ever saw!

Link is (and has been for the past hour) getting demolished because Link is basically operating off of GameFAQs traffic which drops off at night. Draven, meanwhile, is pulling in pretty constant vote totals from his rally which is resulting in Link getting buried.
It'll be like this for a few more hours. Link should be able to wake up and do something around say 9 AM EST and he should get better from there. Problem is he might be back like 8000 votes by then. There are limits to what Link can do in the face of this kind of rally.
If the rally just stops, then yeah, Link would cruise. Draven, before he got his rally was losing badly to Jak and Chie Satonaka of all people. This is pure rally.
Link is very probably doomed. I have a hard time coming up with a way for him to win.

Official word is that it was the site going down of its own accord.
Personally, regardless of the cause, I think it should have been re-run since as it stands it was a 22.5 hour match that went down at a time that was obviously massively in Link's favor, but we were told the results are final.

I'm not sure what the correct response to the site outage should be. You could extend voting for an arbitrary period, but it's a little late for that. You could hold a revote, but then you run into the same problem. In fact, you run into the same problem either way. Unless GameFAQs can keep their servers under control, voting more isn't going to solve the outstanding problem, which is that people are assholes.
