So, outside of those votes, explain yourselves in this thread. Or don't. But I will explain myself anyway.
Ragnarok gets my vote. I've always enjoyed the God of War games, but what has been done with the series since 2018 is nothing short of fucking miracle work. Kratos is honestly one of my favorite characters in gaming based on his evolution in the last two games and the character work in general in the series has been amazing over the last two games. I'm kinda disappointed it wasn't a Norse trilogy, but I'm also glad they didn't drag it out unnecessarily. I mean I guess there still could be a third Norse game, but I feel like it's going to go in a new direction and I'm all for it.
I loved Elden Ring and I'm still looking forward to DLC for it (and people to play seamless co-op with on Steam, but that's a mod so it doesn't count for my vote on GOTY) which I'll absolutely want to play when it does come out, but Ragnarok simply blew me away with how good it was. I poured a good 50 hours into it and got the Platinum trophy so I'm satisfied beyond measure with it. If Ragnarok didn't exist, Elden Ring would have been my backup for GOTY.

Start as a total nobody and explore to find out the lore, steal all the weapons, become god.
It sorta felt like a Final Fantasy game, but dosed with realism and insane amount of exploration.
