He should be fine. He nearly took the hard path, but it sounds like he avoided the trigger in Hima for it so it should be alright.

Plus I'm pretty sure if you trigger any of the boat conversations in Izoold it keeps it from locking onto Hard Path... unless I'm mistaken.

So, I bought Symphonia on Steam. Wasn't sure if I could run it, but I apparently can run it fine.

Except for the graphics options. They're fucking awful. Apparently, the game forces itself into 720p no matter what option you pick. I have a 4:3 monitor, so naturally I changed the resolution to SOMETHING that is 4:3, which puts a GIGANTIC black bar on top of the screen and forces half the screen below.

I'll type up more of my experiences when I get to where I left off before and only comment on things I didn't notice before.

LIKE THE FUCKING COLETTE SIZED HOLE IN THE WALL IN THE BACK OF THE CLASSROOM. WHICH CAUSED COLETTE TO EARN THE TITLE 'KLUTZ'.

One thing I notice right off the bat... THE CONTROLS ARE FUCKING HORRIBLE.

I'm using my Xbox 360 controller. Why the hell does the left analog stick, the Dpad, and the right analog stick ALL MOVE YOUR CHARACTER IN BATTLE!?

If I remember right, in the GCN version, left analog moved, the Dpad assigned orders and the right stick was abilities. Which is exactly how it was in Tales of Vesperia on the 360.

In the PC version, fucking movement!

And out of battle, the right analog stick does nothing at all, and the D-pad still moves you.

The right stick or C-Stick on GCN was shortcuts for abilities, not the actual normal way of combat like in later Tales games. The GCN never actually had a real second analog stick and that's why it wasn't implemented that way. Every other console port has innately had these same controls where the right stick has been movement. The D-pad thing was a change however and it's because some people preferred the D pad for jumping.

So the controls aren't really horrible. They're very close to the original controls which feels natural to me coming from the original game. They're not great by today's standards just because later ToS games evolved on them, but they're far from horrible.
