| Level: 43 Editor | I bought it before going on a short (two day) trip. Beat it already, and now I feel compelled to write a short review. In bullet point format. -It's short and easy, even by Kirby game standards. The whole thing can be beaten 100% in like 5 hours. -There are only a few bosses that will give you trouble, and that's only if you enter without any health recovering items. If you take your maximum of 5 Maxim Tomatoes into a boss fight, you'll have no trouble at all with anything. -The levels, though very nicely designed and generally unique, are very easy as well. You'll probably die, like, once. Total. Possibly the easiest Kirby game ever made. -The "stomach" system that lets you carry around items and powers is neat in concept, but is fairly unresponsive, making it almost useless during any time when you're not standing still. In addition, the "mixing" of powers and items is almost always useless. -The treasure chests are VERY easy to find and collect all 120 of. Exactly 3 will give you trouble; all of the other ones require two tries at most. -The treasures you collect are fairly unrewarding. Some are cool, such as the Ability Scrolls (more on those in a moment), but most are either useless until you get all of them (pieces of a map) or always useless (the pieces of little pictures featuring Kirby). Others are only cosmetic changes to Kirby's color or your stomach's background graphic. -The new powers are cool, I guess. They're functional at least. Bubble transforms whatever you hit into a bubble item (so you can carry it in your stomach, useful for storing particular powers). Animal lets you dig through soft dirt. Magic summons little doves or razor sharp playing cards. Metal is a lot like Stone (which is strangely absent), except that you're much slower, heavier, and invincible to non-boss enemies. Ghost is the coolest new power. [Spoiler for minor stuff, click to show] -Although the back of the box says you can combine powers in your stomach, this really only has three uses: Sleep + Sleep = Ghost, Sword + Fire/Spark/Ice = ____ Sword, Bomb + Ice/Spark = ____ Bomb. -Ability Scrolls. These are cool. Each power (except Ghost) has an Ability Scroll, which you collect from treasure chests. These let you use a new ability - for example, letting Ninja perform a cool fire jutsu (<_<) or improving Cutter's range. Even Sleep has an Ability Scroll, which allows you to regain health while napping! Fun. -Let's talk about the Squeak Squad for a moment. They are a group of the same 3 minibosses that you will fight over... and over... and over... and over... and over... Argh. tl;dr version: 6-7/10. It's short and easy but it's Kirby - you know what you're getting. --- "Allow ME to interject: TFN does not die immediately because you get banned. Your banning would unleash a disease that would slowly eat TFN from the inside until your reinstatement or the site's eventual, decidedly painful death." ~Ogor, to me |
