It combines unintentional humor with video game infighting in a way subsequent versions of the game just don't measure up to.

I haven't played any of the later games. I skipped the GCN and Wii.

So, all I know is SSB.

200% damage with items set on Very High, and Bumpers only is just so fucking hilarious.

It's been about about 10 years since I lasted played it and... I haven't enjoyed a game THIS much in a long time.

This game has provided me nothing but laughs over the last day

I had a HILARIOUS moment just now.

Jigglypuff chucked a bumper at me.
I hit my shield in time.
It reflected off my shield, hitting her KO'ing her.
The bumper flew back towards me, impacted my shield
The bumper bounced towards captain falcon, hitting him and getting KO'd.
Then the bumper hit Donkey Kong and KO'd him
I jumped at the wrong time and got hit by the bumper after it impacted DK, KO'ing me
Then the bumper flew towards Jigglypuff, KOing her for a second time.
3 KOs and 2 suicides with 1 bad throw. XD

Not ONCE did that bumper land on the ground during this exchange.

The graphics for Starfox 64, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask still hold up pretty well today.

You'd think they wouldn't age well, but they did.
