Needs a good compute to run, but luckily my computer can still handle it with a NVIDIA GTX 970.

Pretty awesome so far. I only got into Dark Souls last year, but this game being made by the same company that made Dark Souls? It's alot more open world than the other Dark Souls games and alot more action-based while still having alot of Souls familiarity. It feels almost like Skyrim, Breath of the Wild and Dark Souls got together and had a funky party.

It has the open world exploring of Breath of the Wild, but lacking the crazy climbing.

It has the dungeons, map design and random encounters of Skyrim.

It has the battle system and difficulty of Dark Souls.

Also, the monster designs are absolutely amazing. This game has some basic monsters at first glace., but as you get deeper into the game - they look simple at first, but then you get up close and you see a six armed skeleton that suddenly is going General Grevious on your ass.

I have Elden Ring, but it's gonna be a little while before I'm able to sit down and play it because I want to be able to really get into it and I just don't have the ability to do so right now.

I like a lot of what it's added to the Soulsborne series, I think it looks like a really solid and fun game. Bloodborne up until now has been by favorite FromSoft entry in their styles of games, but that's also probably because I haven't played Sekiro. As ungodly frustrating as I know Sekiro has been lauded, I really was looking forward to playing it but just never got around to it. So instead I'll just play a Samurai in Elden Ring when I get around to it.

My favorite thing about Soulsborne games is still the character creator. It has so much freedom to do things that I actually really enjoy making characters and with Elden Ring having so much extra freedom it made me actually want to make some of my RPG characters for once.

For my first playthrough I made Moritsune and went with Samurai for the starting class and it's been fun so far. I've enjoyed getting my ass kicked by things I have no business fighting. Haven't gotten too far really yet, but it's been fun exploring.

Took down Margit with ease. Working my way through Stormveil Castle now, I really enjoy the idea of the knife eagles. They're my favorite enemy design so far because it's just so silly and so evil to get assaulted by a group of them.

I haven't gotten into any crazy creation stuff lately and just made myself. Though I plan on making a samurai down the road someday.

Elden Rings has been sucking up alot of my time, but it's because it keeps getting better both story-wise and exploration-wise. One of the most insane things i'm finding out about this game is how expansive the story-line really is with my cousins.

I went vigor, focus and faith in this run, but now that I hit what is essentially the soft cap i'm investing in endurance for this awesome armor i picked up. Been really loving the magic system in this game. I sometimes wish I tried intelligence out because of the vast majority of spells this game has.

Most annoying thing in the game so far is i'm not use to fighting without a great shield. Though wielding holy katars that stack with faith have been satisfying when i get my hits off.

I beat Stormveil Castle and now I'm just going back through Stormhill and the surrounding areas checking to make sure I didn't miss anything. Right now I'm running an Int/Dex/Str build with Vigor on the side because making use of the Meteorite Staff and Rock Fling has been far too much fun while using a Twinblade to just dance through enemies. The Meteoric Ore Blade katana is also fun to use and was the initial reason I had to get some Int in the build.

Cipher Pata is the holy katars i mentioned earlier, but I plan on looking to get into katanas down the road once i max out my faith and see how hard these bad boys work. I picked up a good chunk over the game and I found a day i'm dying to try out.

Also, just last night when i thought i hit the end of the game, i think i'm discovering i'm at the half way point. wow.

Beat Radahn and it only took me two tries. That was a pretty fun fight, I really like the lore behind him and I feel terrible for that horse.

I ventured through Nokstella and after finishing up that area I stopped for now, intending to try to work on Raya Lucaria next time I sit down to play.

Right now I'm using Moonveil and the Meteoric Ore Blade as a dual wield setup. My Twinblade is almost +20 but I kind of fell off using it after I found Moonveil, it's pretty ridiculous the amount of damage it pulls off so quickly and for so little FP.

Recently picked up Wrath of Gold, Beast Claw and Frost Lightning for my faith build and they are awesome. The trick with Frost Lightning though is it has a big wind-up, but they each do individual damage and roughly 400 each, which murders anything infront of me. Wrath of Gold on the otherhand is a powerful mob pushing ability and point blank blast for big monsters when in hard to reach places. Beast Claw on the otherhand, while ground only, works like Frost Lightning except 200 damage roughly, but can be charged for better distance, comes out faster AND is extremely cheap.

Right now i'm moving onto what's very likely the end of the game
Burn the tree!
but we'll have to see.

I'm about to start Volcano Manor the next time I play. I cleared Rennala earlier today and that was a cool looking fight, but after Radahn the fight itself was very forgettable. I also cleared the Lake of Rot and I never want to go there ever again, that was a miserable experience.

That was annoying. I was lucky enough to have Cleanse me O'Flame, but it pretty much boiled down to lovable, lovable rot.

I forgot to mention now that you mentioned Radahn that the secret boss battles were awesome and worth checking out, but so far the battle with Rykard has so far been the coolest one so far. though i'm being told it's an old boss mechanic from Dark Souls,b ut nonetheless still awesome.

Oh I had cleansing abilities too. It was just tedious having to use them constantly just to even slightly traverse the map especially when a few items were literally hidden directly in the middle of nowhere with nearly no safe platforms like the Mushroom Cap.

Went through the first few quests in Volcano Manor. Fairly interesting place, but I hate the red light aesthetic inside the manor. The thing it wants me to do next is in an area I haven't made it to yet so I'm putting it off to continue exploring the Altus Plateau and see what else I can find.

Level 110 and surprised to discover that I missed quite a bit of areas in the Giant Mountains at the start, despite knowing there was something hidden there. However, in turn at least i got Blaidd's gear and it feels so good. <3

Need to go back and beat those twin Tree Sentinels, too. They were very annoying.

Last but not least - I find it both amusing and disturbing that i'm finding alot of knives that use strength, dex and faith instead of just strength and dex. Alot of the knives as I play this game were from religious orders or connected to them and not some mere ordinary dagger like the souls games has them be. Or maybe i'm just unlucky and they are hiding on me >.>

I wish Blaidd's gear had more Poise on it. It was immensely disappointing to get the gear and helmet and realize that using it would require me almost cutting my poise in half from using Radahn's gear. Wouldn't be so bad if Poise didn't have really weird break points where it's entirely useless vs mostly useless and Blaidd's gear happens to fall under the entirely useless tier while Radahn's is within the mostly useless tier. I wish Poise worked like it did in Dark Souls 1, but it's been broken in every game since. Elden Ring is at least better than Dark Souls 3's version, but it's still busted. It's bad enough armor negation doesn't mean jack shit, but the fact Poise doesn't do anything below like 50-60 and even then doesn't really work until 80-100 is stupid.

The twin Tree Sentinels were shown no mercy due to the misery the lone one put me through at the start of the game. I cut them down and walked in to get the Site of Grace and then left because I wasn't ready to explore that area yet.

Knife wise, I feel like I've found several that aren't Faith based. However I know I've found several that are Arcane like Reduvia which is an amazing Bleed dagger and Scorpion's Stinger in the Lake of Rot is Str/Dex and inflicts Scarlet Rot. I'm pretty upset that a lot of Arcane based items are broken and don't scale properly. Eleonora's Poleblade would be amazing if it wasn't broken like it is. Maybe it's intentional but I don't believe that because it sucks worse than the basic Twinblade due to it.

I only haven't played Dark Souls 3 yet, but I also like the Poise in Part 1 as opposed to Part 2. Being unflichable is always good.

I don't even want to be fully unflinchable. But it's pretty stupid that early area junk enemies can still stagger lock you at 70 poise. I'm all for late area enemies to still be able to do it without high poise, but that's insane that a starting area soldier or wolf can still do it reliably when you have poise in the 60+ range. Considering how many other stat related things are broken I question if Poise isn't also bugged or if it really is intended to barely work at 60 and only work somewhat decently at 80-100.

I would surmise that's the point as well. Though I would also think it's silly that a weakling monster can still knock a dude around in heavy armor and gear like that, but oh well. x3

Had to go back because I found out there was indeed a sewer in there. I got a good feeling I know what i missed here, but right now i'm just demi-god hunting. Found some awesome magic while exploring.

Also, they are patching the game already!

Added new quest phases for the following NPCs: Diallos/ Nepheli Loux/ Kenneth Haight/ Gatekeeper Gostoc.

That was all I really needed to read. Too bad that last one is... well, he's in pieces. The others I really wanted more from.

Fixed a bug that causes arcane to scale incorrectly for some weapons.

Fixed a bug which causes some weapons to have incorrect scaling after strengthening.

Fixed a bug which causes some weapons to not use stat scaling.

And just like that, using Eleonora's Poleblade just became viable.

Decreased Ash of War, Hoarfrost Stomp's damage and increase cast time.

Increased Ash of War, Bloody Slash's self-inflict damage while slightly lowering the damage and increasing the cast time.

Decreased weapon skill, Sword of Night and Flame?s damage.

I knew Night and Flame and Hoarfrost were getting hit with a nerf. Both of those abilities were insane.

Decreased the damage of spirit summoned when using the item Mimic Tear Ash and changed the spirit?s behavior pattern.

NOT MY BOY. But I expected this too. Mimic was insane at +10.

Honestly after using it a few times, the Mimic now is actually better. It's AI is a hell of a lot smarter.

I like using Banished Knight Oleg too so it gives me a reason to switch between the two now as well.

Oleg was also my go-to before the mimic as well. He helped farm the bats for me at Greyrol's Dragonburrow. Got easier though with the mimic and the dragon knight.

Rykard's boss fight was extremely disappointing. I get what they were going for (it did take me a minute to realize I was supposed to do that) but the fact he's so slow and easily telegraphed on top of that weapon doing so much damage made the fight boring. I was really expecting better because I was enjoying Volcano Manor up until that fight.

I'm at the point of starting to explore the Mountaintop of the Giants now. I'm fairly certain I've basically explored everywhere else except the Capital Sewers, I got pretty far in there and then stopped. Did finally got an armor set at least equal to Radahn's poise that I'm fairly happy with the look of so that's a bonus too. Technically two of them, but I prefer the Crucible Axe over the Tree Sentinel armor.

Finally going to get some time to play today. currently exploring the sewers of the capital.

Sucks the fight wasn't your favorite. I thought the fight was beautiful. Battle-wise, yes it's easy to telegraph.

I read online also that someone discovered walls in the manor can be hit after... hitting a door over 30 times with a colossal weapon. whether that's a bug or not is uncertain, but that's very annoying.

I went back to the sewers myself. After like two hours of going in circles in the drainage pipes I found a jumping puzzle at the very bottom of the sewers past a hidden entrance. Almost made it to the bottom first attempt but slipped up and died. Thankfully I have Sacrificial Twigs to use while I try to figure out the right path, but that's a hell of a jump puzzle.

Edit:

Three attempts later, I finally made it to the bottom. That was very worth it.

Found the other half of the Haligtree Medallion and made it to the Consecrated Snowfields.

... I almost hate this place more than the Lake of Rot. I can't see shit due to the fog and mist in the first section of the map. Which wouldn't be bad if it wasn't infested with fast as hell enemies and archers riding on giant wolves.

Along my way to making it here I found a high poise armor set that Blaidd's wolf head actually matches with so I'm now using it without too much of a loss.
