it was the bears offense that won that game. just for the wrong team.

Just like the Bucs!

At this point the Patriots are the only team left that could potentially beat Denver in the regular season, but so what if they win the AFC LOL? Let them get blown out in the playoffs. And if they beat the Pats? Then holy shit, the Pats just lost to Tim Tebow! Think of the Brady gifs!

Oh man, today's the Bucs-Cowboys game. Can Josh Freeman throw enough red zone interceptions to conquer the Cowboys' season-long death wish? We're about to find out!

...Way to not even make that competitive, Jets. =(

Augh, back to needing everyone else to lose again.

Thankfully the Titans were feeling very generous this week and decided to somehow lose to the Colts. Perhaps in some kind of way-too-late attempt to deny the Colts Luck.

That still leaves the Bengals and one of Raiders/Broncos.

Bengals have the Ravens in Week 17, but it's the AFC West Teams I'm more worried about. Raiders have Chiefs/Chargers and Broncos have Bills/Chiefs.

Chargers probably the best bet here if they remember to be the December!Chargers (even though that game would be in January). Otherwise, I have to hope the Chiefs remember everything they did to stop the Packers and just beat one of the AFC West teams. Preferably both.

The Jets offense is really schizophrenic. Today it seems they believed the end zone was a horrible monster that should be avoided at all costs. Good thing this wasn't a game they needed to wi - oh.

The Bucs, meanwhile, are now the worst team in the NFL. Yeah, there's the Rams and, of course, the Colts, and some other teams that technically have fewer wins, but let's be serious. The Bucs are... good God what the fuck?!

Good thing this wasn't a game they needed to wi - oh.

I actually think this may have been the problem. The Jets just don't know what to do when they're relatively in control of their playoff fate/not in an elimination game.

They realized "Oh my god, if we win out we probably have the tiebreaker on the Bengals. wtf" and lost to put themselves behind like they're used to.

The problem is, now they need so much help that even being in an elimination game mode won't be likely to help!

...Seriously though, that offense. A few times every season it looks like they know what they're doing. Then the rest of the season they vary between being barely mediocre and some kind of monstrosity.

I will always wonder what might have happened if they prevented that 99-yard TD pass. ...god.

The saddest part of this video - aside from the three (3) missed tackles - is that it begins with the commentator talking about how the Giants needed to gain some yards so they could punt.

No, it's that Revis was not put on Cruz for the rest of the game.

...but i guess technically that is not part of the video.

That last Saints drive was amazing. I can't believe they went to the shotgun up 22. I almost started laughing. I was almost certain they still meant to go for the record, but that may have been the absolute greatest way to do it.

I sure can. You're up against a team that's already giving up 250 passing yards with a record to break, you take the opportunity. Plus, breaking that record against a division rival? (While going for a touchdown with two minutes left in a game that ended in the third quarter?) Yes, please.

No, no it isn't.

Meanwhile. It seems the Packers decided to unleash their secret weapon on the helpless Lions in a meaningless game (for them) in the form of Matt Flynn. Starting Rodgers was actually a handicap they imposed on themselves for the benefit of the league.

...I think I'm expecting Brees to get somewhere around 672 yards with 9 TDs against the Lions next week.

Pfft, Ogor, don't tell me you doubted Matt "GOAT" Flynn.

He was out there on a mission. A mission to cost Rodgers the MVP by demonstrating Rodgers isn't even the best QB on the team, let alone the league. A mission that was successful.

Packers really should put in Matt "GOAT" Flynn before this game starts getting out of hand.

Also so more than 1 game goes the way I'd like this week. (Thank you, Ravens.)

Augh...

This is a pretty terrible situation all around.

In a perfect world the Ravens and 49ers win next week and I just don't care who wins the Super Bowl.

In a nightmare scenario, the Giants and Patriots both win and I have to seriously considering backing the Patriots.

Perfect world: Patriots beat the Ravens. Somebody wins the NFC. Then the Patriots lose the Superbowl again.

I hate the Ravens and I loathe the Patriots, but I don't care about the 49ers and I kind of like the Giants (by which I mean I kind of like Eli and don't care about anyone else), so whatever, just don't let the AFC win the Superbowl guys!

49ers > Patriots would be the most satisfying result for me (in the sense that I could have an interest in the Super Bowl and also get to watch the Patriots lose)... I just don't want to risk letting the Patriots get that close, even if 49ers/Ravens would be a "Who Cares" Bowl for me. I guess Ravens > Giants could also work, but I'm not sure that'd be as "fun" a game to watch as 49ers > Patriots.

49ers/Patriots would be great. Maybe the Pats' ridiculously terrible defense could make the 49ers look good on offense. The matchup is essentially a repeat of the Saints/49ers game and that was swell, so.

A Ravens/49ers Superbowl wouldn't even be watchable.

Ogor, I've had to confirm to an alleged Giants fan that yes, Eli Manning is in fact still the QB of the Giants, and also that he is not injured. I'm also convinced based on my experiences around the 2007 playoffs that I'm surrounded by other Giants bandwagoners. It's not even about the 49ers/Ravens being a good game! It's about me avoiding having to deal with either those bandwagoners being intolerable, or having the Patriots win another Super Bowl (and as a Jets fan the situations in which I'm okay with the Patriots winning games probably requires a rather convoluted flow chart.) It's just that a Giants/Patriots Super Bowl might be one of those cases!

In 2007 I had to side with Giants because the prospect of 19-0 was an exceptional case on said flow chart and the idea that they'd go undefeated was just too much. That's not the case this time!

>_>

... the... fuck?

How can you be a Giants fan and be completely clueless about Eli? He's the only reason to be a Giants fan!

It's about me avoiding having to deal with either those bandwagoners being intolerable

In my case, I don't have any bandwagoners around me to worry about. Everyone I personally know who likes football is either a Packers fan or a fan of some unknown team because they don't like football or they don't talk about it so I never found out. In terms of having to put up with people whining, I am totally neutral.

It's worth noting that I jumped on the Giants bandwagon in 2007 beginning with their regular season loss to the Patriots and stayed on a little because I was basking in the glow of having predicted they would win the Superbowl after that, until I tried watching their games in 2008 and decided fuck these guys.

Well... that match up wouldn't be as bad as the Alabama-LSU match up...

COMPARISON OF THE BCS TITLE GAME AND THE SUPERBOWL

1. The Superbowl is the most important single game of football in the world and for casual fans it's the only game.
2. The official name for the BCS Title Game includes the word "Tostitos".

If the BCS Title Game sucks, nobody cares. If the Superbowl sucks, it's completely terrible.

On the contrary, it means they'll probably be even more intolerable, since it seems they like the Giants not because of any particular aspect of the Giants but because duuuuude, the Giants are coooooool, man!
