Looks like 49ers are my last and only hope!

...Ugh, Ravens, why?

God, if the 49ers lose because they can't play special teams with even the slightest intelligence or competence.

...

...

I really think I'll be rooting for the Patriots. Oh my god, this is sickening.

...I think the ideal case for me at this venture, barring some way in which both teams fail to win (can the game be called if it goes into like 10 OTs?) is if Belichick and Brady decide to go into full troll mode in revenge and just start breaking every single record they can think of in route of just embarrassing the Giants.

This is just awful. How did it come to me wanting the Patriots to win, and win in a rout, at that?

More "oh my god this is why I'm backing the Patriots" moments:

*Halftime - I am a silent observer in this conversation because oh my god*
"Are your Giants losing yet?"
"No, they're winning!"
"Who are they playing?"
"...I don't know. I was asleep most of the time."
*Commerical ends, score is displayed*
"...San Francisco!"
Me: "......................................................."

---

*GW FG just kicked*
"YES! *To me* And everyone said the Giants were going to lose!"
Me: "What are you talking about? The analysts were 3-2 in favor of the Giants. ESPN has been on the Giants all week-"
"-Oh stop it!"
Me: ".........................................................."

---

...Okay, now I'm reminded a bit more why I am backing the Patriots, however reluctantly.

I'm sorry you had to watch that game in the company of idiots others. That was the sort of game you sit alone in the dark and watch while slowly consuming enough alcohol to believe that fumbles happen all the time and it's only the Superbowl, it's not like it really matters, nothing really matters, hey I'm gonna go get another beer.

I'm still rooting for the Giants though. Unless the Patriots do something like put up 40 points in the first half. That would be awesome.

The real victim in all this is Alex Smith, who outperformed Eli but still got his ass handed to him by Kyle "oops I accidentally the ball" Williams. Then again, when is Alex Smith not the real victim?

FUCK

Chip Kelly is going to TB.

Chris Petersen's hypothetical dream job is Oregon.

Chip "One-Note Offense and Oh Right Maybe a Defense Would Be Good I'll Just Pencil That In" Kelly is going to be the HC of the Bucs.

Chris "Jesus" Petersen may leave BSU.

And then I get Chip Motherfucking Kelly as HC of the Bucs.

FUCK

THERE IS NO GOD

That was a close one. The Bucs almost passed up a chance at Brad Childress!

"So, do you think the Giants have a chance to win the Super Bowl?"

"Really!?"

Well if he only pays attention during playoff time, then I still don't understand that. "I doubt they will be"? They destroyed the first seed in the NFC and then beat the best defense in the NFC much more convincingly than NE beat the Ravens. Unless you actually thought the Broncos were real, simply by comparing the two performances with no knowledge of the regular season I don't see how you could come away thinking anyone saw the Patriots in any way better.

Unless, you know, the Great ESPN Corporate-Satanic Boston Sporting Conspiracy responsible for all of New England's success fixed the odds for Tom Brady.

I misread that completely! Still, my comments apply to the other fellow as well, since he seems surprised that the Giants would have a chance. To someone who only watched the playoffs, the only justification for thinking the Giants wouldn't have an edge would be the aforementioned conspiracy theory.

Odds currently favor the Patriots by 3 points, but that appears to be dropped closer to parity.

Based on the whole "No one thought they'd win [against the 49ers]" thing, I'm just assuming it's some kind of warped "Us against The World" thing and wanting to believe it or... something.

I dunno, I never put much thought into it, because of all the things to question, it seemed pretty low-priority. >_>

Eh, I don't even know what to think about that game.

...What an awful game.

On every conceivable level.

I really do think the Patriots should have allowed the Giants to score the TD faster though. Just didn't give themselves enough time there.

...Literally told I should root for the Giants (and Yankees) because they're "winners" [and that that was the basis of their picking teams to root for, and that my "making fun of" this is negated by the fact that they win] and I've picked "losers" (and also somehow became a Mets fan I guess)

...Why couldn't the Patriots have scored on that last drive?

and Yankees

No.

Anyone who includes "root for the Yankees" as part of their argument instantly loses both the argument and his right to talk about sports.

(AL Division Series lol)

and also somehow became a Mets fan I guess

BSU Men's Basketball
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Seattle Mariners
Charlotte Bobcats
Steaua Bucuresti

If it weren't for losers I'd have no one to root for!

...Why couldn't the Patriots have scored on that last drive?

Because they're losers pahahahahahahaha

Seriously though.

I only tuned in to watch the commercials. Which was a waste of time, because the only non-HD channel that aired here was some crappy "superstation", that replaced ALL the Superbowl commercials with their own crappy commercials >_>

I enjoyed that Belichick actually let them score that TD after I was basically pleading that the Patriots do so. I did not enjoy how long it took them to come to that decision.
