Well, to my credit, I did manage to manage it until just before I got out of school. Out in the hallways, one of my friends asked if something was wrong, because I was basically zoned out at that point trying to keep my mind off things.

None of my friends would ever ask me if anything's wrong.

My friends are selfish bastards.

Well, I don't think any of my other friends would have asked me if anything was wrong. Then again, I told the other I was around most of this time that I felt like crap, so he didn't really need to.

Here are the reactions I would get if any of them were to find out:

Pavel: lol
Everyone Else: [nothing]

Yep.

Well, the friend I told (not the one who asked me) had a response of basically "[nothing]".

Not that I was looking for any response, I just thought maybe mentioning it out-loud would help me deal with it.

The one that asked me, told me he hoped I'd feel better... or happier.

True.

Although, he's the one on the periphery/circle of the girl I have a crush on, so ironically, I'm sure this had a subconscious effect of jealousy on me.

He's awesome though. And thinking it over, I have no negative emotions towards him, just at myself for letting something like this get to me. It's like I lost my ability to be apathetic. If I get that back, I'm fine.

I find it hilarious that some of us are compelled to be jealous of the friends of our crushes. (I was the same with Andrea. >_>)

I think it was because thoughts like:

"Damnit, I know she likes him."

"Why the **** do I fail at social situations."

"Why the **** can't I go over there and just try to join the conversation?"

kept running through my head. Particularly the first one. >_>

You say that, but I still do.

I'd rather know for a fact just to know if I should abandon hope, because no hope is much better than slight hope under constant siege.

Asking her if she likes him is even more awkward than saying I like her.

Silly Ogor.

Unless you meant ask him if he likes her, but his answer would seem to be independent of her feelings.

However, if we suspend the social confidence problem, I still see two issues.

1. Finding a time to ask her, well, at least one in which she isn't with her friends.

2. What to do about location. Sure, you say things like movies... but what kind of movie... =(

*points to telephone*

Except that sucks, so:

*points to school hallway/locker/walk home/etc.*

If you drive and she does not, you could also offer to take her home - although I wouldn't do this, as it might be misconstrued.

2. What to do about location. Sure, you say things like movies... but what kind of movie... =(

First, a movie is not the best idea for the first date - but if you're planning on doing this within the month, there are a few possibilities:

- Happy Feet
- The Nativity Story
- The Holiday
- Charlotte's Web
- The Pursuit of Happiness

These are either comedies or emotional movies, so they're relatively harmless. The Holiday and Charlotte's Web are probably your best bets. If she's the intellectual type, you could see (a) The Nativity Story or (b) The Pursuit of Happiness, and discuss (a) the theological validity of the story/the nature of faith, or (b) the socioeconomic implications of the movie.

Also, make sure you eat somewhere afterwards.

Especially since again, this seems to be far more troublesome than just asking directly, as well as less effective.

Hallway seems to be the only one that -might- be viable.

If you drive and she does not, you could also offer to take her home - although I wouldn't do this, as it might be misconstrued.

...Yeah, I imagine it would be.

However, this is all avoided by the fact that I don't drive, because I don't care to. =/

Yes - driving sucks.

Then what is?

I believe the Japanese call it ranchi. Or perhaps dinner. Something where you can talk the whole time.

Of course, dinner and a movie is fine, I suppose. :\

Yeah, but I can't think of any decent places around here. It's like either Fast Food or a rather high-class restaurant. There's almost no middle ground, not in reasonable distance that I can think of.

The experience will mean a lot more if you have an opportunity to talk.

About which, I just imagine that to be akward, like I wouldn't know what to talk about.

Too bad I'm not claiming my definition of trolling is the same as TFN's definition of trolling.

So how about you learn to have some ****ing decency as a human being and not try and provoke someone who is clearly not looking to deal with such ridiculous idiocy in an otherwise serious topic? ^_^

Right, but we at least need to stick to some general level of the same definitions. If everyone had their own defintions for all words, society couldn't function.

So how about you learn to have some ****ing decency as a human being and not try and provoke someone who is clearly not looking to deal with such ridiculous idiocy in an otherwise serious topic? ^_^

There's this wonderful thing you can do where you just ignore my posts, it's all the rage in Europe right now. If you had done that, I would have found the topic uninteresting and left a while ago, instead, you roped me in by (incorrectly) calling my message trolling.

Anyway, since you seem to be enjoying this 'serious' conversation so much, I recommend an art event for a first date. Like, a semi-private (ticket only) gallery showing. That screams "I'm intelligent and rich".

Of course it doesn't work so well if you're not actually rich, as tickets are usually $70-$100 each.
