| Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | Small progress report: 1. The quest system is finished, though I'm not sure if this is the way it should work (you'll have to wait to see it). 2. The cutscene system is finished. 3. I'm just starting to plan how dungeons will work. 4. The rest of the edits are very simple and won't take nearly as long as the above three. 5. I should be done by the end of the month. ___ ~ Ogordemir ~ Buddha promised me Nirvana and all I got was this lousy T-shirt. | Level: 43 Editor | Hmm. I did a quick test run of the Martial Artist class. Some unexpected results, some that were obvious. >_> The Good: Ki Blast works. Rei Gun works. Rei Cannon works, and doesn't seem too broken. Although my character was 0/25/25/12, which, obviously, yields an unideal stat spread. Both Buffs work, although they suck. But this is intentional, I'm sure. <_< The Bad: Barrage of Fists works, but seems totally broken. I should have expected this, but... Rei Shrapnel doesn't work. At all. In fact, here's what it does: Takes 60 SP. Casts Rei Gun at a single enemy. Takes 30 more SP (for the Rei Gun). So yeah. XD Quick run of the Bard/Dancer tree: The Good: The Dance and Tune seem to work. Dovecraft works. The Bad: Sawed in Half seems to work, but the text has a typo (Bort sawed his in half!) ...Yeah, my Bard is named Bort. <_< Sword Swallowing might work (I need to buy a weapon >_>), but again, the text is typoed (Bort tried to cast Sword Swallowing, but his had no sword to swallow!). Upon further testing, yeah, it works. --- "Everything lasts forever." ~Homer Simpson "It says no Homers. We're allowed to have one." | Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | Barrage of Fists This isn't broken. You know what's broken? Nature's Wrath. Try it out some time. EDIT - Nevermind, I fixed it. Now it sort of sucks. >_> Rei Shrapnel This is party to a host of errors in a slightly revamped implementation of multi-targeting spells. Widening Slash and Wild Horses are two other victims. Typos Note to self: In the future, consider not writing code on a laptop at 4AM in a dark room. ___ ~ Ogordemir ~ Buddha promised me Nirvana and all I got was this lousy T-shirt. | Level: 43 Editor | Yes, but it kind of assumes someone it using a Winterkeeper. I don't know about anyone else, but if I see a Winterkeeper in a PvP, it immediately becomes my new "okay, that is going to die" target. In fact, Winterkeepers are ahead of pretty much everything else in terms of that. P/Matriarches and, I suppose, Necromancers and Paladins, are higher because even if I kill the Winterkeeper, they can revive it. See, Winterkeeper suffers from the "that's gonna screw me over" syndrome. Even if, for some reason, some player decided to try an offensive Winterkeeper, I wouldn't know it was offensive. I'd see it cast Fimbulvinter, go into "zomg must destroy winterkeeper" mode, and devote a lot of resources to killing it. Because Winterkeeper screams "hey, I can do tricky stuff. I can negate your spells. Or redirect them. Hell, I can even negate a spell, prevent you from casting a lot of other spells, and unequip you! And I can fuck with the field too. Why not? You know what? I can even do a Magic Attack x3. Because I'm cool like that." Whereas Warlord screams "hey, I can cast the spells that makes the people fall down". <_< Plus, I'm not conceited enough to think I can just go "lawl judgment" and wipe out my opponent. Anyone with half-decent MDEF and HP will survive the initial hit, and it's not a terribly fast or cost effective move. And considering how much I've been bragging, I'm sure Saaya is everyone else's "kill that character first" target. Not that they can touch her, but she mainly just hangs around to heal anyway. >_> --- "Everything lasts forever." ~Homer Simpson "It says no Homers. We're allowed to have one." |

| Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | True, WKs etc. are instant-kill targets, but chances are you wouldn't see one on a team that wasn't at least capable of at least pretending to protect it. And since I seem to be unable to find its effect anywhere on the boards, what does Nature's Wrath do? Or rather, what did it formerly do? <_< Former NW: For 70 SP, you cause all opponents to lose HP equal to their remaining SP. Modern NW: For all your SP, you cause all opponents to lose HP equal to a fraction (1/3-ish) of their remaining SP. You can't cast NW unless you have at least 70 SP remaining. ___ ~ Ogordemir ~ Buddha promised me Nirvana and all I got was this lousy T-shirt. | Level: 43 Editor | True, WKs etc. are instant-kill targets, but chances are you wouldn't see one on a team that wasn't at least capable of at least pretending to protect it. Indeed. There's also the fact that most people should realize WKs are instant-kill targets and can thus just use Divert or something on the first turn. That'll put a dent in the other guy's strategy. >_>; Former NW: For 70 SP, you cause all opponents to lose HP equal to their remaining SP. | Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | UPDATE - February 27th, 2007 System Updates - There is now an option in the "Management" page to enable or disable the worldmap popup. When disabled, there will be a link available in the field to launch it manually, although be weary that it won't update automatically as you move through the world, so you'll need to click the link whenever you want to see where you are. Story Updates - None at this time. Content Updates - None at this time. World Updates - None at this time. Bug Updates - None at this time. Scheduled Updates - Some big update in early March. ___ ~ Ogordemir ~ Buddha promised me Nirvana and all I got was this lousy T-shirt. | Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | UPDATE - March 13th, 2007 System Updates - The cutscene system has been added. - The dungeon system has been added. - The quest system has been added. - Other stuff has been altered. Story Updates - None at this time. Content Updates - All of the content that takes advantage of the new systems is very basic. This is mostly because I wanted to release this update today and not at the end of the month; I had to have something up to test everything, but I didn't have time to write a novel, construct some grandiose labyrinthine dungeon, or make a multi-part quest. I didn't even add any drop items. >_> - Two cutscenes have been added: one in field 1 and the other in the dungeon. - One dungeon has been added. It can be found in field 212. - One quest has been added. Its location should be fairly obvious to anyone who likes strolling around in the fields below field 10. - A new monster has been added, but no new spells have been added to complement it. It can be found in the dungeon. (And no, that isn't meant to be definitive art. That's meant to be a horrific surprise.) World Updates - None at this time. Bug Updates - I originally intended to release a whole pile of bug fixes, but I've spent the past several hours debugging this update and I'm still not finished, so I've decided to focus the next update in this area. I have a few bugs listed already (Wild Horses, Widening Slash, Iron Defense, Divine Feather, and Marutin's AI, in addition to what I still have left over from this update), but I think I've missed some of the bugs that were submitted to me, so whoever wants to could compile a list of problems for me to fix. - One thing I think we should keep an eye on is the absolute inability to run in ambush battles. As this is possibly problematic (assuming stalemates are possible), I think I'll end up integrating running in ambush battles into the battle system itself, a la any other RPG. Scheduled Updates - There will be a bug update, followed by a content and/or story and/or world update, followed by possibly a system update (introducing a user economy), followed by who knows what. The timeline isn't very well defined right now, however. I certainly wouldn't expect an update before next week. >_> *vanishes* ___ ~ Ogordemir ~ Buddha promised me Nirvana and all I got was this lousy T-shirt. | Level: 41 New Moderator | UPDATE - March 26th, 2007 System Updates - Added "time of day" feature. This means that SS now runs on a 24-hour clock. Specifically, my clock. For now, all this does is tweak the open field's shade of green. Later, it'll be reflected in cheerful RPG ways. - The "you" table in area.php has been changed in three ways: (a) it now shows the current time, in SS time, which is really just 24-hour Mountain Standard Time; (b) it now shows your TFN avatar, if you have one; and (c) various things have been moved around to make the thing smaller to accommodate the additions without screwing over the East link.
