| Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | Eight hours? Well, that's understandable for not adding anything else. However, the lack of Manticores, King Kraken, and Marutin are starting to make me want to always end a post with a frowny emoticon. I can do without pretty much anything else.. I just need new foes. =( +++ http://i15.tinypic.com/4c1rtwh.jpg If only the Catholics would really see the light.. *sigh* |

| Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | Eight hours? Yes, I had to go through like a thousand lines of code and replace lines of text that were to be printed to the screen with lines of text assigned to a variable that was to be returned, formatted, and THEN printed to the screen. I wasn't really asking why it took eight hours, I already figured it was something like that. I just had that there as an expression for the rest of the sentence, not exactly a stand alone question. >_> I'm reluctant to add any monsters without changing the AI, so I'm working on that now. | Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | Even Queen Kraken hits like 2-3 times a turn now. >_> Of course, she sucks with her damage.. except on characters who have no equipment on and have no stats thrown into defense/magic defense yet. Which makes my leveling of Kain/Vivi significantly more difficult, as if it wasn't already a pain in the ass when she one hit them. Now she can kill both in one turn. <_< +++ http://i15.tinypic.com/4c1rtwh.jpg If only the Catholics would really see the light.. *sigh* |

| Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | Not really a problem, but is it known that the AI (At least Queen Kraken) when making multiples moves in a turn, can only perform one action per turn, though it can have different targets. More simply, it will use the same action for both moves in its turn, even if it changes targets during it. --- xp1337: Your former local puppet admin. | Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | Okay, this AI update has made some things needlessly more difficult than they should be and cheap as hell. I'd explain what I mean.. but I'm practically falling asleep at the keyboard, so I better go to sleep. If you haven't found any of these things by the morning, I'll explain then because it's quite irritating. Of course, I could be severely over exaggerating it because I'm tired which makes even the slightest thing really set me off.. but we'll find out in the morning when I've had some rest and try playing again to see if it pisses me off as badly. >_> +++ http://i15.tinypic.com/4c1rtwh.jpg If only the Catholics would really see the light.. *sigh* |

| Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | I was actually just testing to see how multiple attacks work. I'd say it was a success. And, if you would like, I reduce the number of actions these little people can take. I've noticed this too, and it boggles me. I'm trying to fix it right now and failing for some reason. Also, por que Fimbulvinter?! EDIT - I figured it out. It can take multiple actions now, but most of the time that will simply involve attacking. ___ ~ Ogordemir ~ Buddha promised me Nirvana and all I got was this lousy T-shirt. | Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | This weekend I should get a rather large update in terms of: (1) Fixing the aforementioned errors. (2) Deriving a workaround for the Fimbulvinter error, as I have no idea what in God's name is causing that. (This may move down in priority depending on whether or not it's an easy fix.) (3) Items. (4) Monsters. (Now that the framework is in place.) (5) Spells (though probably only those associated with monsters and new classes). (6) Classes. ___ ~ Ogordemir ~ Buddha promised me Nirvana and all I got was this lousy T-shirt. "Democracy is the bludgeoning of the people, by the people, for the people." ~ Oscar Wilde |

| Level: 43 Editor | Should I try to make some items/spells for Master/Spellcrafter/Revelator/etc before the weekend, or not bother right now? >_> (2) Deriving a workaround for the Fimbulvinter error, as I have no idea what in God's name is causing that. (This may move down in priority depending on whether or not it's an easy fix.) Seeing as how I seem to have caused this problem by creating Fimbulvintr, I'll try to offer a solution. Fimbulvintr was part of the Norse end of the world, before Ragnarok (IIRC). It was three successive winters without any intervening summers. Fimbul is Old Norse for "the great/big", so Fimbulvintr is literally "The Great Big Winter". So, in flavor, it would obviously be a powerful spell thrown out by Winterkeepers... And since it was 3 winters, my format for the damage would be: (CASTER_MATK x 3) - DEFENDER_MDEF = DMG Or however damage is applied regarding defense, but that's the basic idea. May I suggest that the problem comes from the code for it being needlessly complicated? Or possibly a misspelling somewhere along the line? (I note this because I proposed the spell as Fimbulvintr, but you just spelled it Fimbulvinter. >_>) --- "If I don't live diligently, I can't die. So I will fight. Even if... | Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | Should I try to make some items/spells for Master/Spellcrafter/Revelator/etc before the weekend, or not bother right now? >_> You could, if you want. I don't guarantee I'll get to them, though, so I suggest you do so only if you're bored. (I note this because I proposed the spell as Fimbulvintr, but you just spelled it Fimbulvinter. >_>) I used the colloquial Danish spelling, which is Fimbulvinter, pronounced /fIm.bUl.'vIn.tA/, if I am not mistaken (though I probably am). (CASTER_MATK x 3) - DEFENDER_MDEF = DMG This is the formula I used. May I suggest that the problem comes from the code for it being needlessly complicated? Not possible. Void works perfectly and it's somewhere between 50 and 90 lines long. Or possibly a misspelling somewhere along the line? That's not quite possible: (a) Fimbulvinter itself is executing. (b) The code uses ID's to insert actions, then replaces these ID's with the spell name immediately before evaluation. (a) means that (b) is working fine, which means that the only two spellings necessary are correlated perfectly. The problem is that Fimbulvinter is weaseling its way into the turn queue out of nowhere for I don't know what reason, when it should never have been inserted in the first place. ___ ~ Ogordemir ~ Buddha promised me Nirvana and all I got was this lousy T-shirt.
