| (Yes, I could have put this in my other topic, but I didn't.)
Played through Classic with Mario, as per tradition. Despite being it being on Normal mode, I lost four of my 5 stock. Almost lost a fifth against Team Zero Suit Samus, when one of the idiots attacked me when an Explosive Crate was right next to us. Thankfully she got KO'd to the side while I became a star. Unlocked Captain Falcon.
Thoughts so far:
-Wow, this game feels like Melee at .5 speed setting.
-Wiimote + Nunchuk controls are horribly, horribly awkward. I was planning to use them as my main control scheme, but holy crap. Back to the GCN controller I go.
-I miss the bonus points at the end of a stage. You know, "Half-Minute Man", "Stale Moves", etc.
-There's like ten seconds of lag(?) in matches with characters who spawn in when others die (vs. Team [Character] and the like). Really, really annoying.
-Dedede is ****ing BRUTAL. I KO people at like 10% with his uncharged side smash.
-Break the Targets sucks now.
-The announcer pronounces Dedede's and Lucas' names wrong.
-Unlocked Luigi.
-Jesus Christ event #10 is a bitch. Two stock, choose your character, against the "original 8". Doesn't sound too hard? Items on, on very high. There are always at least 3 on the field, not counting the ones that are "active" and doing crap. I eventually won with Dedede, after tanking like 4 Smart Bombs.
-The Dragoon is so stupid it isn't even funny. There's an item I am turning off immediately.
-The "Mario Bros." stage may dethrone Icicle Mountain as "worst stage ever conceived".
-CPU Olimars are so funny to edgeguard against.
-I just cleared the first 20 solo events.

| Not very similar, honestly.
He has the same neutral B - a chargeable ball that you can "keep". It still hurts people who touch it while charging. His falling animation is very similar, as is his falling speed (really, really slow).
Other than that, not too similar at all. Well, one more similarity - this is just my (unprofessional) opinion, but I think Lucario will end up as one of the worst fighters in the game. As you might already be aware, his power increases with damage, capping at 200%. But at 0%, his attacks are incredibly slow AND really weak. Even at 200%, you'd be better off with, say, Dedede or Ike, because they deal more damage and their attacks seem as fast if not faster.
Lucario does have two advantages, though. Most of his "aura" attacks (side smash, for example) reach much farther than they appear to, and last longer than you'd expect. Epic mind game potential... or something, I dunno.
But yeah, of everyone I've tried so far, Lucario is by far the worst. And he's not nearly as cool as Mewtwo.

| -There are way too many items that are insta-wins. The following items WILL kill you if an opponent grabs them:
1. Cracker Launcher
Probably the weakest item on this list, but when it works against you... christ, don't even bother trying to recover. You can't.
2. Superspicy Curry
Fireflower. That you can move and attack while using. That doesn't run out of flames until it disappears. What the HELL.
3. Golden Hammer
This is exactly what the Smash series needed. A stronger Hammer.
4. Smash Ball
Enough said.
5. Bumper
Try recovering with one of these at the ledge. You CAN'T. Insta-kill.
6. Deku Nut and Pitfall
Yeah.
7. Most ATs
Lyn/Goroh/Saki/Waluigi/Hammer Bro/Little Mac/Knuckle Joe... I can keep going.
8. Dragoon
Probably the biggest offender on this list, because as soon as you have one or two parts, the AI rubberbands and starts beating the everloving CRAP out of you, KOs you, assembles the Dragoon, and KOs you AGAIN with the Dragoon.
9. Any explosive. Pick one.
Seriously, without the ability to turn all this crap off in vs. mode, I'd call the game unplayable. And it does its best to make any singleplayer mode (where you can't turn it off) unplayable.

Stuff is happening... Mario fights Kirby for some reason. I pick Kirby and get killed twice before KOing Mario. Uh... that doesn't bode well. More stuff happens. Pit is watching the match on TV from Skyworld, apparently. Kirby brings Mario back from trophy-ness, they shake hands, then the Halberd appears and little men grow out of the ground... Wow, it would be really nice if there was some explanation for why this **** is happening.
Fight against Subspace guys. This segment sucks, so I'm fast forwarding to when it's over.
Peach: Why are enemies coming out of the base?
Ancient Minister: A bomb has been planted at the base.
Mario: Geez! Can anyway take care of it?
Petey Piranha: CAN'T LET YOU DO THAT, SUPER MARIO! *OHKO*
Petey captures Zelda and Peach because apparently they are weak and helpless... Zelda doesn't think to just teleport out of the cage, I guess, I dunno.
Kirby vs. Petey is go. Blah blah blah, I win, Petey explodes for some reason. Plants explode when they die in This World apparently.
Palutena appears and tells Pit to go help Mario. I think. There's no dialogue. I mean, no VA is obvious, but there's not even any text. So Palutena could have said "Go get me some bagels" for all I know. Stupid lazy Goddess. She gives Pit a bow and Pit flies away. Apparently he can fly now even though he never could in his games. Whatever, I won't press it.
I go through a short platforming segment with no enemies. Or jumps. Or puzzles. And a lot of treasure boxes. I guess this is just supposed to get me used to the controls or something. Pit lands on a cloud somewhere and the Halberd appears and sprouts more Heartless. Pit turns his bow into two blades and gets ready to kick ass. Except I haven't used Pit before, so... I kick ass anyway! **** yeah.
Then I get killed by a Greap. Wow, an enemy that 3HKOs me and has no discernible weak point. Wonderful. Is it just me or should Sakurai stick to making fighting games and Kirby games, and not try to make crappy fighting/platformer hybrid adventures?
So I finally figure out I need to shield its attacks and charge a smash while it's stuck in the ground. Unfortunately my R button is apparently nonfunctional, so it was a bit harder than it should have been. I won eventually.

Pit finds Mario's trophy and revives him, they look at each other and nod. Apparently a nod is a verbal agreement to become adventure pals in This World. I choose Pit. I massacre enemies. I get to the end and have to fight more Heartless. I massacre them and fight a floating machine thing, which I massacre with up smashes. Pit and Mario watch Fox fly his Arwing towards the Halberd. I am somewhat amazed that Fox was not flying a Landmaster instead, since apparently everyone in the Star Fox universe owns one and prefers it to any other method of fighting.
Skyworld: Cleared
Team: Mario, Kirby, Zelda, Pit
On to Sea of Clouds and more subpar platforming "goodness"!
Apparently Kirby sucks at flying a Warp Star, because he crashes into the Halberd and it bounces away. I choose Zelda. Short platforming segment where I needed to run to the right for like 15 seconds before a cutscene triggered. What was even the point of that? Anyway, Fox and his Arwing job to the Halberd and he crashes into Kirby/Zelda, knocking them off the ship. I choose Zelda.
I make my way through more platforming crap until I get to little Meteos guys trying to kill me. I destroy their hive and run when the game lets me move on. Boulders start falling. Repeat on another hive. More boulders.
You know what would be cool? If I was fighting, like, some Nintendo enemies. You know, Bronto Burts, Waddle Deeds, Koopas, Metroids, maybe an Eggplant Wizard... Instead of these crappy SSE idiots.
I try to fight two Greaps and get killed. Repeatedly.
Wow, this game makes Shadow the Hedgehog look like goddamn Super Mario World. I'm not putting up with this **** while I get killed at 60%. Screw it, I'm dropping the difficulty to Hard.
Huh. I lasted, what, a whole stage and a half? I figured I could at least get to DK's section... ...**** it, I don't have to impress me.
Okay, back to where I was. Boss section, there is now only a single Greap, with like 10% the health they had on Intense, and its attacks don't have crazy range. Huh. I slaughter.
DK and Diddy stage, trying to get back the banana hoard. I kill Goombas and Koopas and so forth. Hammer Bros kill me. I kill them. Keep going. Going... Going... Finally at the boss, giant Goombas. I squish them. Diddy prepares to give Bowser a taste of his monkey-fu, but Bowser's like "I'MMA CHARGIN MAH LAZER" so DK punches Diddy over the horizon and Bowser's like "I'MMA FIRIN MAH LAZER" and DK gets trophied.
Back to fighting groups of random Heartless as Mario and Pit. Dammit, we had a good thing going with the Mario series enemies, why ruin it. Easy stage, got to the end, Mario tried to attack Ancient Minister and his bomb but couldn't jump high enough... Pit did a footstool jump on Mario and tried to catch him, but fell short too.
...
YOU HAVE A BOW. SHOOT THE BASTARD. Christ.
Diddy and Fox's segment now, vs. Rayquaza. I'd ask why the God of the Skies is living in a lake, or why its attacks can be reflected by random Star Fox tech, or why it's being aggressive considering the whole point of Rayquaza is to be a mediator... but you know what? Screw it. I don't even care anymore. I kill the sky god and get on my merry way.
Fox doesn't want to help Diddy. This is something that could be resolved with, you know, words. If anyone in This World was capable of speech. Whatever. More pointless platforming through some weird world and opposite world... I dunno. I end up on a raft on a river. Fighting Giant Goombas. When that's over, more platforming, followed by a fight against a purple Bowser. Who was possessed by Dark Samus or something.
Just kidding, nothing cool like that would happen.
Anyway. Purple Bowser is trophied, then disintegrates. The real Bowser attacks Fox and Diddy, but Fox knows... uh... I have no idea, because there's no ****ing explanation for any of this crap. Fox runs for some reason. Let's assume he's actually on Bowser's side and just pretending to help Diddy. That makes sense. Or he's suicidal, I mean, he did jump off a cliff.

CRAP LUCAS IS BEING ATTACKED BY A CHIROPTERAN
I NEED TO FIND SAYA, ONLY SHE CAN DEFEAT THEM
So, as Lucas, I run away from the scary chiropteran because I cannot kill it. Eventually it falls into some water and I say "even a chevalier couldn't survive that". And then it immediately falls from the sky onto me for a OHKO holy ****.
Okay, enough of that, since I don't think anyone gets the reference (FOR WHICH I SHOULD BAN YOU ALL). Ness shows up and blows up the giant stone Pokey.
Wario shows up and tries to trophy Ness, but Ness (being awesome) dodges everything. So Wario tries to trophy Lucas, who is cowering, and Ness (being awesome) takes the blow and is trophied. Lucas flees and comes upon a bunch of Heartless and a COMPLETELY RANDOM, GENERIC Pokemon Trainer who looks exactly like Red and has the same Pokemon. BUT HE ISN'T RED FOR SOME REASON. Not Red sends out Squirtle and I pick Lucas since Not Red with only one Pokemon is weaksauce.
But I end up playing as Not Red anyway since Lucas grabs a Hammer and Hammers an explosive crate like 10 seconds in. gj. Squirtle kicks some ass and kills some invisible guys and makes his way through the Ruined Zoo and eventually into a building. I kill some multiplying Voltorb wannabes and leave the building.
Stage clear, Lucas and Not Red join the party.
Next stage is... MARTH HELL YES. Apparently Marth lives in a castle in the desert. I honestly don't know if that is accurate or not. Some ROBs detonate a Subspace bomb... in the middle of the desert? wtf was the point? A bunch of Heartless are marching towards Marth's castle, but Marth is ready to defend. He raises his sword... and the tip of it starts glowing. HOLY CRAP THE TIPPER IS A PLOT DEVICE SWEET JESUS.
Platforming through the castle while I am molested by helmets with tentacles. I get outside the castle and Marth is attacked by Meta Knight. They seem to be on equal footing but their duel is cut short by more Heartless. I choose Marth. And kill a bunch of Heartless and Greap. More platforming.
Ooh, mine carts. But not cool, DKC minecarts. Lame SSE minecarts.
And then... more cutscenes! Yay. Marth and Meta Knight vs. Ancient Minister... maybe. Sorta. Not really. Marth misses and Meta Knight jobs. Suddenly, a voice!
"THIS HAND OF MINE IS BURNING RED! ITS LOUD ROAR TELLS ME TO GRASP VICTORY! TAKE THIS!! MY LOVE, MY ANGER, AND ALL OF MY SORROW! BURNING AETHER!"
(Not really.)
Ike smashes the Ancient Minister and his bomb up reeeal good. I now get to choose between Ike, Marth, and Meta Knight. Hence forth known as Team Overkill - for when winning just isn't enough. I finish the level with Ike and Marth.
Oh man, Dedede is awesome. He doesn't need a Trophy Gun. He just smacks people and they become trophies. Eh steals Wario's trophies and doesn't afraid of anything.
...And that's all for tonight.

| I'm pretty much at the end of the Emissary, judging how my clear rate is %60.

I got Snake. hur hur hur. after teasing me with Snake awhile back, they finally let me use him.
He's awesome. Snake's smashes are unique. the upward smash is the mortar which goes higher when charged and the forward smash is a RPG to the ground. the downward smash interestingly is the mine, despite what the website says the downward B button is. i could never charge the thing either, he just plants the mine when you do so and anyone that walks on it gets blown away.
The download B button is actually the C4 button. i had ALOT of fun with this. the C4 button places C4 at Snake's feet as a black square. I haven't played around with this yet, but when he places it at his feet, you press down B again and he detonates it, saying "Now!".
the Grenade is actually pretty useful. the Grenade when pulled out is on a timer, but Snake can straff while using the grenade and if you walk forward while releasing it, he chucks it halfway across the stage. standing still is just a decent distance and backwards walking lobs over his head. it's quite spammable too, but i noticed alot of NPCs shield them and they end up doing nothing afterwards. that sucked :(
Snake's basic 3 hit attacks are powerful too. infact, they can be just as bad as the smashes themselves from what i experienced so far. the stand-alone 3 hit combo has a nasty third hit. it's like Mario's combo, but the third hit is the real deal.
The Nikita is in my opinion not very impressive. it's nice to use when you want to snipe someone across the stage, but once you miss, you gotta force the missile to crash before you can control Snake again, i tried jamming everything and he still was using it.
Gonna nit pick with Snake today after i beat the Emissary stage as well. already having a blast with Snake. still have to unlock Wolf, Sonic and i think one other. i got ROB the Robot too. he's uninteresting in the least, but his laser attacks are sweet. lasers beams are what this guy got XD

| -Beat the SSE. (A while ago, actually.) I have writeups, but because of the stupid text limit, it would seriously take like 5 posts, so I've lost motivation for posting them.

-Tabuu is one of the more broken characters Nintendo has ever created. The guy oneshots Master Hand. Master Hand! A player level being! It's like if, for example, during a Mario game, Bowser reaches out of the TV and rips off your head. IT SHOULDN'T HAPPEN!
-R.O.B. would've been cooler if his Down B transformed into the Ancient Minister. And if his Final Smash was a Subspace bomb.
-Speaking of which, it seems like most of the SSE is explained in the trophies. For example, the black spores are actually bugs(?), and they're made of Mr. G&W's insides. Seriously. And apparently R.O.B. was the ruler of This World until Tabuu started wrecking **** for no raisin. Heaven help me, I'm starting to like R.O.B.'s character.
-Beat all 41 solo events.
-Beat a few co-op events... by myself.
-Beat Classic with every character... except Ice Climbers and Ness. And Squirtle and Ivysaur, who I apparently need to beat Master Hand with to get trophies of.
-Jigglypuff sucks now, Rest has been nerfed to a point of being useless.
-MIS! TER! GAMEANDWATCH! MIS! TER! GAMEANDWATCH!
-Seriously, Mr. G&W rocks now.
-Kirby and Pikachu kick ass again.
-Some stages are so ridiculously bad that they're almost unplayable. Mario Bros., 75m, Rumble Falls, NEW PORK CITY, Flat Zone 2, and Spear Pillar as soon as Dialga/Palkia/Cresselia appears, just to name a few.
-I suck as Snake and Olimar. So much.
-Bad voice acting is baaaaaad.
-Diddy Kong and Lucas are really amazingly ridiculously awesome.
-YOU CAN'T PLAY AS NANA ANYMORE WTF
-NERF WARIO
-Seriously, his fsmash kills at like 40% and he's fast. And his aerial game makes Jigglypuff look like Bowser.
-It's really annoying that enemy CPUs focus all their attacks on you, even during free for alls with no teams. If I had wanted a 1 vs 3 match with friendly fire on, GOOD CHANCE I WOULD HAVE PICKED THAT. Christ.
-Dragoon parts are one of the more flagrant examples of cheating AI I've ever seen. I've lost two parts to a neutral A, while I can hit enemies with three fsmashes, an upsmash, a grab, a dash, three neutral A combos, a Hammer, a nuclear bomb, and a small continent and they still won't drop the damn piece until I KO them.
-Some of the Metroid trophy descriptions seem like they were written by someone who never played a Metroid game. "Dark Samus is virtually identical to Samus", except, you know, in appears, mannerisms, attacks... "There are several theories about Dark Samus' origin, but none have been proven". Really? Because I thought it was pretty clear that Metroid Prime stole Samus' Phazon Suit or whatever it was called and corrupted it, considering that is EXACTLY WHAT ****ING HAPPENS AT THE END OF METROID PRIME. I could go on, but I won't.

Dedede is "day-deh-day", or, even more correctly, "deh-deh-deh". In either case, it is NOT "dee-dee-dee".
The S is silent in Lucas - it's the French pronunciation.

No, King Dedede is pronounced Dee-dee-dee because that sounds less stupid than Day-day-day or deh-deh-deh.
Also because it's a whole lot easier to just call him 3D when you kick ass him

C. The announcer pronounces it Loo-kas

A. It's pronounced "Day-Deh-Day" in the Japanese version. Not sure about Lucas, can't hear well enough in any of the videos.
B. No, someone at Nintendo of America must have wanted him to say it that way. Nintendo of America does not make the call on how things are pronounced. Nor does SSBB.

The voice actor might not have changed but he definitely pronounces it as "Dee-dee-dee" in the English version and "Day-deh-day" in the Japanese version.

| As much as it pains me to disagree with a fellow DSBer, sorry MS, but regarding Dedede -- in North America it is pronounced Dee-dee-dee yes, but in Japan the kana spelling is "De-de-de" and that is pronounced "Deh-deh-deh", and not the kana for Japan's "Di-di-di" (which would sound like Dee-dee-dee).
I will add that it is not incorrect to pronounce his name "Dee-dee-dee" though, as that is his official name in the English work... A tad confusing, but this is accepted fact.

| What I have left to do:
-Collect all stickers.
-Collect all trophies.
-Most of the Boss Battle challenges, including beating it with every character and beating it on higher difficulty settings... No idea how I'll pull that off!
-Beat All-star with every character.
-All-star on higher difficulty settings.
-Various "get X number of total KOs", "get X number of total coins", "power on for X hours", "brawl for X hours", etc.
-Total swim and run distance.
-Some various Stadium challenges I haven't gotten around to - 100 man Brawl in 3 minutes 30 seconds and Target Smash level 4 in 32 seconds, maybe some others I'm missing.
-Get the rest of the songs.
I think that's it. Should be easy, right? <_<

| List of ways the AI cheats:
-The aforementioned cheating at the Dragoon/Smash Ball.
-The aforementioned "all three enemies attack you during a free for all" thing.
-Wins Microgames without even doing anything, or wins them when it DOES do things in "Don't Move". (WarioWare is another unplayable stage BTW.
-Doesn't get even remotely thrown off by the Nintendog/Resetti/Devil/Togepi's darkness thing/Spear Pillar turning upside down and reversing all the controls/etc.
More as I'm sure to find them. Melee's AI was predictable but this is just embarrassing.
