i think fire emblem should have a sleep clause

This is the best idea I've heard all day. <_<

I played a couple of the FE on the GBA (Well, Emulater >_>) and I didn't really like them >_>

It's an acquired taste. Seriously. They're very good games, but at the same time, they're definitely not for everyone.
It is time to give a little explanation on how Turn Counts and Survival Chapters interact. If the chapter cannot be ended by slaying the boss, then Survival chapters count an extra turn against you after the final enemy phase.

What does this mean? 13x makes me have to survive for 7 turns, but when I'm done of the chapter, it'll actually have "taken" 8 turns. Doing this chapter puts me another turn into debt. Wonderful programming, Intelligent Systems!

Chapter 13x: The Peddler Merlinus
Turn Limit: 7
Minimum Experience: 700
Funds: 6000

Matthew snags a torch from Bartre and uses it, revealing one hell of a lot of enemies. Alright, let's do this. Oswin rescues Merlinus. Hector throws an axe at the archer, Lowen kills him with an iron sword. Rebecca fires on the myrmidon and Dorcas runs onto the eastern forest to tank the brigand there. Serra runs onto the middle island and Bartre runs north to take Merlinus from Oswin. Marcus donates an iron sword to Eliwood who goes to tank the myrmidon. The brigands knock over a hell of a lot of snags and a mage runs over to blast Lowen, halving his HP. Eliwood "expertly" deals with the myrmidon, who can die next turn.

Rebecca kills the myrmidon with a critical (what), Dorcas retreats west a bit, Hector/Oswin take down the mage, and Oswin gets hp/speed. Lowen destroys the archer and Marcus deals with the mercenary, and then Matthew runs west to steal a vulnerary from the myrmidon. Serra heals Hector and Eliwood goes 1 north and eats a vulnerary. Bartre goes south and drops off Merlinus west. Some enemies attack Eliwood but he dodges enough for me to not care, and Matthew is flanked and reduced to half.

Guy slays a brigand to the east, getting hp/skill/luck. Oswin goes west to kill the myrmidon, and Hector swaps places with Eliwood, weakening a brigand. Dorcas runs east Rebecca takes down the brigand in front of Hector, while Bartre rescues her. Lowen rushes north to stab a nomad and Marcus goes a bit north to tank. Hector levels after getting shot at twice, getting hp/str/def. Brigands rush to the village in the northeast, hopefully I can get there next turn.

Hector takes down a nomad with his wolf beil, Marcus kills a myrmidon with his silver lance, Lowen runs over to engage the brigand by the village, and Eliwood stabs a nomad to death with his rapier. Matthew goes to the forest west of Eliwood to tank for him and eats a vulnerary. Guy goes to the east end to tank and Dorcas runs away. Rebecca is dropped off south. Fun fact: The brigands actually don't want to bother destroying the village in this chapter, making this really easy. Oswin is actually reduced to low hp this turn from all the brigands.

Oswin runs a bit east to throw a javelin, killing another brigand. Serra heals him, Rebecca rescues her, and Bartre takes her and drops her off. Guy slices a nomad with killing edge, Lowen kills a brigand with iron sword, gaining Hp/speed/def. Hector takes down a nomad with wolf beil and Eliwood donates his iron sword to Matthew and eats a vulnerary. Matthew weakens the mercenary nearby and Marcus demolishes a brigand. Lowen is ganged up on but lives and Matthew survives a brutal ordeal.

Marcus kills the mage, Matthew runs over to the nomad and kills him, gaining hp/str/speed/luck. Bartre tosses a hand axe at the brigand and levels gaining hp, while Oswin stabs him to death. Lowen retreats, takes a vulnerary from Hector, eats it, and stays where he is. Serra heals Dorcas, gaining skill/luck. Guy kills a nomad and Dorcas runs east to help him. Puzon approaches Matthew and gets slashed twice, while Matthew dodges a few lethal blows (all in a day's work).

Bartre tosses a hand axe at a brigand, Oswin takes down the brigand, Guy slashes a nomad and levels, getting str/skill/res. Serra heals Oswin, Hector kills a brigand, Marcus kills the other brigand, and Lowen finally reaches the village, gaining 5000 gold! Matthew goes over to a fort to use a vulnerary (alpha as fuck) and Eliwood runs away from Puzon really fast. Matthew reduces Puzon to 3 HP (why.jpg) and kills a mercenary, while Guy is shot at and doesn't care. We win!

Difficulty: 2/10 - This chapter is the easiest one yet, you just need to use Marcus a few times to dish out a kill here and there (especially on pesky mages). Puzon is a fucking joke of a boss compared to the last ones, if you even engage him, and the brigands don't even bother destroying the nearby village. I'm really having a lot of trouble considering how anyone could find this difficult.
Turns taken so far/Turns allowed: 34/27.

And now that I have my Fortune screen, here's the relevant rankings so far:

Tactics: 3/5 (this will go up)
Survival: 5/5
Funds: 5/5
Experience: 5/5
Combat: 4/5 (lol what)

Combat is a joke rank, basically just means win 40% of the fights you engage in, so it'll be guaranteed to go to 5 stars soon.

And now that I have Merlinus, my S-rank run is on hold until I can engage on a safari to find the legendary artifact, the mario kart double dash bonus disc!
Credit to CG for the sleep clause idea!

I am thinking with chapter 14 that I will need to lay off the Matthew and focus on getting experience for Eliwood, Failbecca, and Hector.

I have been looking forward to this so much. >_>

The other day, I ordered The Divide: Enemies Within for the PS1 from Amazon, and today it arrived! This is a better article about it than I could write and what got me interested in the first place, but if that's too long for you, let me summarize it as: Super Metroid in 3D, third person.
Okay, so let's give this a go.

Game starts with a little training thing where you learn how to change weapons/double jump/etc, which is really just setting up a big dick move, where the game relieves you of all your items. This happens as soon as the story begins. You and your partner get your asses kicked by the local wildlife (HORRIBLY MUTATED by one of the probes you launched, so it's all your fault, really), your partner gets taken, and you get frozen for some period of time. Not sure how long. But eventually the climate warms and you set out to rescue Advena. (There's more to the story here, but I missed some of the narration because my volume was too low, and I also don't really care, honestly.)

In the beginning, you're running on less than 1% power - that is, not only do you have no abilities, but one of your Terragator's legs is broken, so you walk with a limp. Shortly thereafter, you pick up the Repair Kit and can now walk normally. Still can't jump, though. I'm actually amazed they even gave you the default weapon from the beginning.

I fumble around a lot and eventually find the Gatling Gun. I don't think that's the name it's given in-game, but that's what it is. More fumbling, and I find the Grenades, but they're less Grenades than they are the bombs from LoZ. Because you don't throw them, you just sorta drop them and then run away. After that, I find my first save point.

At this point, I think that I missed the Jumper upgrade way earlier, so I start to backtrack, and find a save point that I really should have found earlier. "whoops". Oh well. It turns out, I can't get back to the start point, so I determine that there's only one place I can go: an entrance that was blocked off by debris. Yup, the Grenades open it up for me. Time for a boss fight.

BOSS FIGHT:
STONE MONKEY

...Yeah, I look at this guy and all I can see is the miniboss from Venom in Star Fox 64. It's a simple boss: just shoot it to win. But it has a lot of health, and I'm still not very good at aiming, so I waste most of my gatling gun ammo. I did manage to hit it with the only two Grenades I had, though, which helped a lot.

I like how there's like a 45 second long cutscene of the item falling from the sky after beating the boss. PROBE ACQUIRED! ..........I have no idea what this does!

Moving on... I find, at long last, the Jumper! I can now JUMP! Best upgrade. After a quick jumping puzzle, I find the first Energy Tank. It's not called an Energy Tank, but yeah, that is what it is.

After some more jumping puzzles, I end up back at the starting point, and collect two Gatling Cannisters (99 more bullets each) and another Energy Cell (Tank). Okay, now things are lookin' up!

More jumping puzzles... and a lift. But I need the lift key to activate it. Oh, come on, key quests? Really?

Okay, looking for a different path... I leave the very green area and find a very yellow area, with a lot of moving platforms, breaking platforms, and tricky jumps. I find another Gatling Cannister, but eventually die from a combination of fall damage and enemies.

I should note that the controls in this game are... not as good as they could be. First of all, you can't change directions without moving, and you can't move without taking several paces, and you can't stop without sliding. Sound like fun for precision platforming? It gets better - your jump has a delay due to the animation of your Terragator crouching before each jumping. Thus, if you try to jump from the edge of a platform, you'll get hit by that delay, then the sliding will happen and you'll just fall off the platform instead. There's an item here - either an Energy Cell or something else - that I don't think I can get yet, because I think I need the double jump.

That said, the game has been good fun so far. It really does play like a 3D, third person Super Metroid in a lot of ways.

Okay, let's see where this takes us.

Re-collected the Gatling Canister that I lost, and searched for where to go next. I had three ideas:

1. There was a jump I couldn't quite make and assumed I'd need the double jump for, but it's possible it just takes extra precision.

2. There's a door I couldn't figure out a way into, because it's just like built into a wall with a tiny ledge below it that I can't figure out any way to jump onto.

3. There's the desert area, which I can access, but it causes me to take damage because I don't have the Cooling Unit yet. (Sort of like... you know, the place in every Metroid game that does that, until you get the Varia Suit.) But maybe it just requires me to go in, take damage, and find the Cooling Unit. Could be, I dunno.

Oh, and I forgot to mention this, but: ****ing ROCKET LAUNCHER GET. Hells yeah. Finally, a way to kill these obnoxious green slime enemies that soak up damage like crazy.

I try idea 1 first, but I can't make the jump, so it's onto 2. I couldn't figure out any way to get through that door, until I determined that I could fall from about halfway up the room and land on a tiny ledge above the door, then drop down and get inside. What did I find? Well...

Kenri: ...I may have just sequence broken. I can't believe they would expect you to jump to the top of a doorway, take fall damage, then drop off the top and go through the door, right?
Kenri: <_<
CG7: ...XD
Kenri: ...The worst part is, I think this is a dead end. I think I just sequence broke to access a shortcut that I can't use because I don't have the keycard.
CG7: XD
xp: ...that's awesome

Back to idea 1! Turns out I can make that jump after all, it just requires pixel perfect timing.

Kenri: ...I just spent
Kenri: 45 minutes
Kenri: trying to make a jump or maneuver around it
Kenri: for a ****ing Energy Tank
Kenri: I still have no idea where to go

Well then! Let's try idea 3!

Nope! There's an upgrade right nearby, but it requires the double jump to access. Huh. I wonder what I should do now!

...Thus begins the long search for any upgrade, anywhere, that I might have missed. And I eventually find one! But I can't figure out how to get it, until I somehow get hit while jumping and it glitches me onto the platform. Lift Key acquired! Now I can use those lifts that I've seen two of so far!

...and then I realize that I was supposed to use a Grenade to destroy a block, and then I can just walk over and collect the Lift Key. ahahahahahaha god am i stupid

I work my way back to the first area, the Planet's Surface, and find the lift there. Oh, I get it - it works like the teleporters in Castlevania. I end up going to... the Jungle Gorge. AKA the place I sequence broke to get to. ..........I still have no idea where to go. GODDAMMIT.

...Oh, I see. Using the lift activated some moving platforms. Ahahaha, the devs realized you could sequence break there. How clever. Right then, movin' on. I collect a ROCKET CANISTER, **** yeah. 9 more rockets.

More jumping puzzles and then... oh god it's a boss fight.

BOSS FIGHT:
CANNON FLOWER

Your flower power is no match for my glower power!

So basically, it's a flower with four cannons on it. It spins round and around, shooting green pod things at you. My solution? Grenades. They not only hurt the cannons, they destroy the green pods, leaving goodies behind. Mostly more Grenades. yay.

Well, that wasn't too bad, though I did get hit a lot. Where's my probe, game? Where's my-

BOSS FIGHT:
FLAMETHROWERPEDE

-oh fuck! There's more?!

This guy. This guy isn't so bad, as long as you don't fight him like an idiot, like I did, which is why I died twice. First of all: have more health than I did going in. Second of all: spam any remaining grenades, then stand between him and the camera, face him, hold down the strafe button (R1), and unleash all your rockets on him. He's got two attacks at range - a flamethrower, and rockets of his own. You can jump over both attacks, and the timing for it is really generous. Just get into a rhythm and own him without even having to move. If you run out of rockets, use the gatling gun, but yeah, not hard at all, UNLESS you're an idiot like I am.

Probe acquired! still no fucking idea what these are used for!

At this point, I just want to save my game and stop playing for the night, but is the game going to let me? No, it's not. First I have to get the Cooling Unit, then I have to do a very intricate jumping puzzle with lots of moving platforms, then I have to go to the next area, the Ice Chasms, and get the Terrain Detailer or some shit which updates my map with areas I haven't been to yet! yay. I might not have mentioned that I even got the map at all, but yeah, I did. I don't know why it was an upgrade at all, but... whatever. Just whatever.

Anyway, I don't feel like dealing with this ice bullshit right now, so I just save my game at the conveniently located save room and stop for the night.

So yeah, I'm 3 hours into what I've been told is a five hour game, and I've killed two of the game's four(?) bosses, so I might be able to finish this tomorrow.

Okay, into the next room of the Ice Chasm. I see an upgrade, and I assume the very intricate jumping puzzle with moving platforms and breakaway platforms that are all icy-slippery will lead to it. It doesn't.

...OR DOES IT?! I jump down from above and land on the upgrade. Aha. Rocket Canister. I finish up the jumping puzzle and there are two doors I can go through, or do even more platforming for a third door. I try the most obvious one and find the Ice Chasm Lift, so I take it back to the Planet's Surface and save my game. Okay, now back to the Ice Chasm. Into the closest doorway and... OH WHAT THE

BOSS FIGHT:
PARASITE FROST

...I get the feeling I'm not supposed to be here yet. But fuck that, we're gonna kill this mofo!

Basically, he burrows underground and will periodically emerge to shoot a homing icicle at you. If you can deal enough damage to him when he pops out, he'll stick around for a while. I basically just spammed grenades and gatling gun fire and tanked damage, for the most part.

He dies, but I don't get a probe, so I guess he was a miniboss. More importantly: in the next room, I get the ICE GRIPPER, which gives me traction on icy surfaces! ...Well, as much traction as I normally have, at least!

Moving on... oh god this area is so complex. I grab a Rocket Canister and find the FLAMETHROWER, which is awesome, because the enemies here take basically no damage from my other attacks (I've just been avoiding them or using grenades). Soon after, I pick up a Flamethrower Canister.

I'm about to die, but then I decide to stop ****ing around and grab some health while not getting hit, and then soon after I find a recharge room and a save room. Excellent.

In the room that leads to the save and recharge room, I do a very complicated jumping puzzle and acquire an ENERGY CELL. Quick moving platform puzzle thing later, and...

BOSS FIGHT:
FROZEN PETE

I feel bad for this guy. I really do. He was just chillin', frozen half in the ground, and then I came along and ****in' killed him. Sorry, Pete, but I needed that probe!

So yeah, basically, just spam the Flamethrower against him. You don't even need to move; his projectiles get destroyed by the Flamethrower and leave behind Flamethrower ammo. *shrug* I did eventually run out of Flamethrower ammo, so I just switched to the Gatling Gun, but by then he was almost dead. Easiest boss in the game.

Probe acquired!

After the boss, I do a jumping puzzle to collect the SPEEDER, which lets me run, and thus make some jumps that I wasn't able to before. I follow the path around and grab a Flamethrower Canister, and then eventually, get dropped off back in the Jungle Gorge, right by the entrance to the Desert Arroyo. The Speeder lets me make the jump to collect the upgrade right as you enter the Desert, which is the Cooling Unit. yessssss.

Okay, moving on... ****ing jumping puzzles where I can't see my character and enemies that are annoyingly hard to kill. And attack me DURING the jumping puzzles.

.......I probably got some upgrades here, but then I died, and I don't know how many I lost, so... yep. Oh well.

...Okay, giving this another shot. And completely failing to keep track of upgrades because seriously, the jumping puzzles in this game. They demand 100% of your attention. Preferably more. More importantly, though, I didn't dick around like last time, and thus I didn't die, and I also found the LEAPER, which allows me to double jump!

...Except not really. If you recall that horrible Batman GameGear game I played a while back, it had a double jump like this. Simply put, you hit the jump button twice in rapid succession, and the result is a superjump. It's not really a double jump at all. I hate double jumps that work like this, but it does work sorta well here. It's more reliable than at least one example I can think of - fuck you, Batman GameGear game - and while it's difficult to control, this entire game is difficult to control. <_<

After about ten minutes of practice, I managed to get it down, at which point I realize that it breaks the game in half. I don't think the devs realized just how awesome this is, because I can now basically ignore how you're SUPPOSED to get powerups, and instead just cheese them so badly with this double jump. That's the good thing about it - because it gives a lot more vertical distance than horizontal distance, and this is mostly a vertical game, you can just jump over a lot of the obstacles/difficult stuff.

It also allows me to grab this, only a short distance away: the PARTICLE BLASTER. It's basically a shotgun, or perhaps a scattergun, or some such. WHATEVER. The point is, it blasts the **** out of particles, in a way that one-shots every enemy I've seen so far, including ones that take MULTIPLE GRENADES. So awesome.

So yeah, I screw around with my double jump and shotgun and grab some more upgrades before realizing that I really have no idea where to go next.

Okay, we're gonna keep on keepin' on in the desert. And I eventually find the HOMING MISSILES, which means I FINALLY have an answer for flying enemies that doesn't involve flailing around like a jackass. And after grabbing some more powerups, including like two Homing Missile Canisters, I find the boss of Desert Arroyo.

BOSS FIGHT:
BOTWOON

...It really is the same fight. Sorta. Although I guess fuckin' "worm that pops out of various holes to shoot projectiles at you" is kind of a common boss, but... you know what, I don't care! You have to kill two of these; there's a third one that appears but can't be damaged, so I don't know what's up with that. That article I linked to earlier says that it's all one creature, and that you have to destroy its two tails, but... whatever.

The important thing is, this boss is obnoxious. It fires homing missiles at you, and you fire homing missiles at it, and if your timing is good, and you can dodge a few of its missiles, you'll be okay. The Flamethrower is also a decent weapon against it, if it pops out of certain areas. I wouldn't really recommend anything else.

Killing that guy opens up the way to the Lava Rift, and also, I should note that I was totally wrong about this game having four bosses, I was just going by what that article said, but I guess it didn't want to spoil the later ones or something. Anyway, Lava Rift. This place is... very similar to Magmoor Caverns from Metroid Prime, or maybe Metropolis Zone from Sonic 2. It's really annoying, and dark, and confusing, and I don't like it.

After much stumbling through and not getting many powerups, I find a very difficult jumping puzzle that involves BLIND DIAGONAL RUNNING DOUBLE JUMPS, which, when I finally succeeded at, led me to...

BOSS FIGHT:
A BUG

"The descendant of the creature mutated by the probe taunts you with the severed head of your partner Advena's Terragator!"

...Or something like that, I didn't actually write down the text. Well, this game was (mis)marketed as a game about payback (executive meddling is the BEST kind of meddling), so we might as well pay this guy back. Although it's not like this guy did anything, but that hasn't stopped me so far!

.....................and it's really, really easy. It's got the most predictable pattern in the world. There are platforms that disappear and reappear. Just jump back and forth between two of them. The creature can't hit you while you're on a platform. It will do superjumps into the air and cause a shockwave when it lands. Just aim down and shoot it from the platform. It is SO easy. The easiest boss in the game, by FAR. it's roughly the equivalent of knuckles in sonic 3&k in terms of build up and then letdown.

......I grab the Terrain Mapper 3, which fills in my map with every area in the game, so I know exactly what I'm missing. The lift up ahead is a one-way lift to the Floating City. I guess that's the end of the game, but first, I want to go back and collect some powerups.

Okay! I'm back, and I've picked up a bunch of upgrades, including the Red Armor, which does... something good, presumably. I don't have all the items, but I feel like there's a good chance there will be items in the Flying City, so I made a backup save and went out there.

BOSS FIGHT:
BLUE TERRAGATOR

This guy is annoying, but if you keep moving and spam Homing Missiles/Grenades, he's not too bad. He's basically exactly the same as you, except he can actually aim, which is a notable advantage!

So the Flying City. This place is big and confusing, and there will be no mercy with its jumping puzzles. It's not as bad as the Lava Rift, but it is annoying, because if you screw up its jumping puzzles, it puts you a LONG way back. But I don't screw up, because I am awesome at this game. [insert Sora's "arms crossed, smug grin" portrait from Chain of Memories here]

I grab every powerup I see, including the Blue Armor, and end up missing probably 2 upgrades. A Particle Blaster Canister, and a Grenade Canister. =/ But yeah, since I'm here, might as well kill the final boss.

BOSS FIGHT:
SPIN-O-MATIC

...this is such a joke. Just aim whatever weapon you like at it while hopping onto the platforms to avoid being grenaded by its probes. Not hard at all. Of course, there's more, and when you destroy it...

THE FINAL BOSS:
FATHER BRAIN

Yep, that really is what this is. It spams the hell out of its weird fireballs, but they're seriously inaccurate. The big problem here is that you're still getting grenaded, and while there's a pattern to which areas get bombed, it's pretty fast. You can't stop moving at any point, really, so Homing Missiles are a godsend. But yeah, overall, easy boss.

The machine is destroyed, I collect the last five probes...

Probe acquired!
Probe acquired!
Probe acquired!
Probe acquired!
Probe acquired!

still don't know why I needed these

...and apparently the Flying City no longer has its power source. But instead of an escape sequence, we've got a MORAL DILEMMA. In the next room is Agen, who... fuck if I know who this guy's supposed to be? The game informs me that Advena died ages ago (yeah, who didn't see that coming?) and asks if I'd like to kill Agen or what.

...I say no, and I'm honestly not sure why. It's not like at any point so far in this game I've passed up an opportunity to kill something for absolutely no reason. But whatever. The game congratulates me for making the merciful choice.

My rate for collecting items is:
96%

Nice. Not bad for my first time through.

Tanken (that would be me) then leaves the planet, and I guess Agen was the narrator? Or... fuck if I understand this game's plot. Whatever, the narrator says that all traces of the poison infecting the Divide are gone now, probably because Tanken fucking killed every living thing. But yeah. Tanken then leaves the planet. exciting, isn't it.
Chapter 13

Cecilia and Guinevere fled and created the Anti-Coup d'etat forces, and have been traveling Lycia fighting back against Bern and Etruria. Currently, they're under attack in Misul/Missur, and about to be defeated.

Alright boys, let's do this.

...oh god I DON'T LIKE THIS AT ALL

Promoted units all over, paladins with killing edges, axereavers, horseslayers, killer lances, spears, silver lances... god. Plus enemy ballistae, plus two villages, plus I need to recruit an enemy paladin by turn 8 or he'll leave. Actually, scratch that last one, you can get him later. I'll miss out on a Knight's Crest I desperately need, but I... don't really have a choice. Recruiting him now requires me getting Lalum to him by turn 8, when she has five move. I can't kill any of his surrounding units, including an archer armed with a ballista. And the paladin WILL attack Lalum, which means... she'd need to dodge him, because her movement range is less than his. Yeah. Not doin' that and you can't make me.

Anyway, let me get the story out of the way first. Cecilia is holding out against the combined forces of Bern and Etruria when Roy arrives on the other side of the battlefield. Narshen soon shows up to berate Flaer for not taking the fort, because I guess Cecilia is tougher than her status as a level 1 Valkyrie would suggest. Then Zephiel shows up to berate Narshen for not taking the fort as well.

Meanwhile, Percival has noted Zephiel's arrival, and comments that Bern must have been lying when they said they'd let Etruria handle Etrurian matters.

Narshen offers to go on the offensive against Cecilia right now, but Zephiel says not to bother, and that he'll do it himself. Commence Zephiel vs. Cecilia.

...

yeah, Zephiel kinda sorta inflicted 87 damage to her. Ouch. Cecilia dies falls unconscious. Zephiel finds Guinevere inside, and orders Miledy to take her back to Bern. Zephiel then orders Narshen to take an army to Nabata; he heard that a city there is home to dragons, which means there must be a Divine Weapon nearby. Zephiel then departs. Narshen leaves Flaer in charge here and departs for Nabata.

Meanwhile, Roy has heard news of the castle falling into enemy hands. But as long as there's a chance Cecilia is still alive, he's going to keep fighting.

Miledy prepares to take Guinevere back to Bern, but Guinevere grabs a sword and tells Miledy that she's not going anywhere. Takes guts. Miledy then subverts the Fire Emblem tradition of "my country, right or wrong" when she says that she's loyal to Guinevere, not Bern. Miledy and Guinevere depart to meet up with Roy's forces.

Miledy joins the party, and Guinevere is back in competent hands.

On turn 8, Percival goes "fuck this shit" and exits with all his men.

Eventually, there's a scene of Cecilia in her new prison cell, being healed by a girl from Arcadia named Sophia. Hey, it's that NPC girl from the penultimate chapter of FE7 that I thought was one of the Eight Heroes maybe! (Note: I did not actually realize this until several chapters later.)

Okay, now the actual playthrough.

Alan promotes. HP +3, Str +2, Skl +2, Spd +2, Def +2, Res +3, Con +2.

Alan's stats (level 1 Paladin)
42 HP (40.15 average)
16 St (17.55 average)
12 Skl (13.6 average)
17 Spd (16.55 average)
11 Luk (10.6 average)
11 Def (12.75 average)
5 Res (4.9 average)

Basically, roughly average/slightly below average. Missing 1-2 points of Strength is... disappointing. But hey. Alan and Lance are still possibly my best characters outside of like Clarine.

Wolt levels. HP, Str, Skl, Luk.
Dieck levels. HP. UGH, DIECK.
Geese levels. HP, Str.
Miredy levels. HP, Str.
Miredy levels. HP, Str.
Roy levels. HP, Def, Res.
Geese levels. HP, Skl, Spd, Luk.
Lalum levels. HP, Spd, Luk, Def.
Miredy levels. HP, Skl, Spd, Luk, Def.
Clarine levels. Skl. CLARINE. Well, you're two points away from your average Magic at 20/20, and you're only 20/8, so I guess I can't be too mad at you.
Miredy levels. HP, Str, Spd, Luk. Very nice.
Thany levels. Str, Skl, Res. Fantastic.
Lalum levels. HP, Luk.
Lilina levels. Spd. Ugh.
Miredy levels. Str, Spd.
Dieck levels. HP, Skl, Luk. You know, you weren't supposed to kill that enemy. Jerk. =(
Thany levels. HP, Luk.

Thany's stats at level 20 (yeah I know the way I'm doing this isn't consistent, shut up):

30 HP (average 25.55)
10 Str (average 9.7)
20 Skl (MAX) (average 16.45)
20 Spd (MAX) (average MAX)
18 Luk (average 16.4)
9 Def (average 7.9)
9 Res (average 9.75)

~ This is the one / Impossible dream... ~

Thany promotes. HP +5, Str +2, Skl +2, Spd +2, Def +2, Res +2, Con +1.

Rutger levels. HP, Spd, Luk.
Lance levels. HP, Skl.

Lance's stats at level 20:

HP 34 (average 35.2)
Str 17 (average 12.6)
Skl 16 (average 14.55)
Spd 16 (average 17.5)
Luk 6 (average 8.65)
Def 9 (average 9.8)
Res 4 (average 2.85)

I think that speaks for itself.

Clarine levels. HP, Luk.
Lalum levels. HP, Luk.
Rutger levels. HP, Str, Spd.
Wolt levels. HP, Str, Luk, Def.
Wolt levels. HP, Spd.

Wolt's stats at level 20:

HP 35 (average 33.2)
Str 13 (average 11.6)
Skl 14 (average 13.5)
Spd 14 (average 12.6)
Luk 6 (average 9.6)
Def 10 (average 7.8)
Res 2 (average 1.9)

......So basically, for all I bitched about Wolt, he probably turned out one of my best characters relative to his average stats.

Wolt promotes. HP +3, Str +3, Skl +3, Spd +2, Def +2, Res +2, Con +1.

Clarine levels. Magic. A+ level.
Rutger levels. Str. In fairness, he's maxed Skl and Spd already.

Rutger's stats at level 20:

HP 36 (average 34.8)
Str 13 (average 11.8)
Skl 20 (MAX) (average MAX)
Spd 20 (MAX) (average MAX)
Luk 7 (average 6.8)
Def 6 (average 8.2)
Res 1 (average 3.2)

My Rutger is a minmaxer. *nods approvingly*

Rutger promotes. HP +5, Str +2, Skl +2, Spd +1, Def +3, Res +2, Con +1.

Lalum levels. HP, Spd, Luk, Def.
Miredy levels. .......HP. Okay, I probably deserved that. I'll stop arena abusing now.
Dieck levels. HP, Spd, Luk, Def.

Dieck's stats at level 20:

HP 40 (average 39.5)
Str 13 (average 15)
Skl 17 (average 18)
Spd 15 (average 14.5)
Luk 10 (average 10.25)
Def 7 (average 9)
Res 2 (average 3.25)

So basically, Dieck got completely screwed. AND HE'S STILL ONE OF MY BEST UNITS.

Dieck promotes. HP +4, Str +2, Skl +1, Spd +2, Def +4, Res +2, Con +1.

We conquer the throne. Flaer was a pushover. Cecilia apologizes to Roy for not being as awesome as Elincia. Sophia asks Roy to save her village, Arcadia, in the Nabata Desert. You know what that means, right?

So I've been playing Donkey Kong Country Returns. For all intents and purposes, it feels like an SNES DKC game, and looks like an updated one - stylistically different but pursuing the same ideas. For instance, the level where everything is silhouetted against a sunset - there was nothing like this in the SNES games, but it's hard to say that it's not true to the DKC spirit.

I haven't been doing writeups because platformer writeups are just terrible usually, but uh, yeah. I'm in the... fourth world right now, I believe?

Don't get the criticisms about the controls. For me they work perfectly. Like seriously, sometimes I really wonder if other people just got defective sensor bars or something, because this stuff works for me as effectively as a button while being infinitely easier to remember. I dunno. I guess I have enough trouble with simple stuff that I can't criticize other people too harshly.

I absolutely don't remember any of the SNES DKC games being this difficult, though. At least not until the optional worlds. <_<

tl;dr: Retro is so awesome and they need to make more games.
Well, I finally obtained a link cable that I borrowed from my friend to get these items. Let's go over them all quickly, shall we?

Emblem Blade - Sword E - Rng 1 - Wt 5 - Mt 5 - Hit 90 - Crit 0 - 60 uses
A tactician's sword.

This is exactly the fucking same as an Iron Sword but it has 60 uses. Whatever, that's cool for Guy.

Wind Sword - Sword B - Rng 1-2 - Wt 9 - Mt 9 - Hit 70 - Crit 0 - 40 uses - Range 2 attack is Anima (wind) magic.
A magic sword capable of

Who the fuck designed this? I want to kick him in the fucking shins for this. Okay, let's go over everything wrong with this weapon. First off, the description is not a typo, it actually cuts out like that and even glitches the interface of Merlinus's screen sometimes (nothing major). Like the description for the item is taking up the top of the screen cutting off nearly all of my menus and shit, it's funny.

The weapon weighs a fuckton but all magical swords do, so whatever. It's actually basically the same as a light brand but harder to use and demolishes flying units.

Emblem Lance - Lance E - Rng 1 - Wt 8 - Mt 7 - Hit 80 - Crit 0 - 60 uses
A tactician's lance.

It's an iron lance with 60 uses, yay. Cool for Oswin.

Dragon Axe - Axe C - Rng 1 - Wt 11 - Mt 10 - Hit 60 - Crit 0 - 40 uses
An axe designed to strike

No, that description is also not a typo, so more shin-kicking is warranted. It's an axe that is, surprise surprise, good against wyverns and dragons, holy fucking shit! It has the same might as a god-damned wolf beil, so that's going to turn Hector into a god for a little while if he needs it, except for the fact that this axe has no fucking chance of hitting anything worth a shit. It's as accurate as a god-damned hand axe. Whatever, just save it for wyverns who are pissing you off. I might smoke Vaida with this for the laughs.

Emblem Axe - Axe E - Rng 1 - Wt 10 - Mt 8 - Hit 75 - Crit 0 - 60 uses
A tactician's axe.

Ok, I have to wonder here. Why are these tactician weapons? The tactician would get his ass kicked by anyone. Whatever, these descriptions are terrible. It's an iron axe but with 60 uses, nothing special.

Emblem Bow - Bow E - Rng 2 - Wt 5 - Mt 6 - Hit 85 - Crit 0 - 60 uses
A tactician's bow.

Apparently the tactician should be named Firion from now on, holy fuck. It's an Iron Bow with 60 uses, what a shock. Oh, actually, no, the developer deserves a kick in the shins again. The Emblem Bow does no extra damage to flying units, making this one of the weakest weapons in the entire series. Fuck you.

Angelic Robe - Increases HP by a max of 7 points. Vanishes after use.

Really awesome for someone like Serra.

Energy Ring - Increases Mag or Str by 2 points. Vanishes after use.

Probably also really awesome for Serra, actually.

Secret Book - Increases Skill by 2 points. Vanishes after use.

I don't know who to give this to at all but it'll be cool for later.

Goddess Icon - Increases luck by 2 points. Vanishes after use.

Luckless losers still left in my party will need the amp for later. Nothing to really say about this.

Dragonshield - Increases defense by 2 points. Vanishes after use.

Really awesome in HHM. Might go to Guy.

Body Ring - Increases constitution by 2 points. Vanishes after use.

What's that? Turn Nino into a Goddess? Okay, sure.

Silver Card - A special card that reduces the cost of all items by half.

This basically demolishes the idea of the Funds ranking for every single ranked run you could do. You will buy items for half price and therefore your funds rank will go up because you bought shit. Absolutely brutal, best item here I'd say.

Thor's Ire - 15 uses - A dance that increases critical hit % for a turn.

Guess I can't complain, you usually get this really fucking late. Amping up Guy will be awesome.

Emblem seal - [Tactician's name]'s scroll. Gives its carrier an advantage.

Well that's awfully fucking vague. As it turns out, you just give the Emblem seal for a unit to hold onto, and that unit gets +10 accuracy and +10 avoid. That's pretty fucking awesome actually, it'll make someone like Guy outright impossible to kill, or even give failures like Eliwood and Rebecca a chance to earn experience.

Chapter 14: False Friends

Turn Limit: 10
Minimum Experience: 800
Funds: 12,500

Story note: I like how easily Marquess Laus accepts Ephidel's excuse of "maybe I didn't actually kill Helman when I stabbed him lol".

Furthermore, their plan in this chapter is retarded. "When they see me they'll lower their guard lol" Even assuming for a moment that Helman's dying words were "go to Ostia for the lulz", you're about to see why this is absolute nonsense: Erik reveals his plan to be a dick when he talks to Eliwood close to instantly. The convo basically goes like

"Hey Erik, why is Laus preparing for battle."
"Oh well I guess I have to kill you now, you know too much. :("

Subtle villain, that guy.

Anyway, on with the chapter. Relevant formations: Serra at the top northwest segment to recruit Erk faster. Rebecca shoots a soldier by Erk and levels, getting skill/speed/def. Eliwood finishes him off and gets skill/def. Serra runs off to Erk, the rest of our guys run west, with Bartre and Dorcas just in reach of the soldiers beside us to kill them if needed. Erk runs west, which is always a bad sign.

Matthew approaches the knight to steal his vulnerary, Marcus continues to the village, killing the archer on the way, Lowen gets hp/skill/res from countering a ton of units. Matthew gets hp/str/speed/luck from killing a pegasus knight with his wind sword.

Turn 3: Hector gets hp/skill/speed from killing a soldier.

Turn 4: Guy levels from killing a pirate, getting str/skill/speed. Eliwood actually nails a mercenary with the iron blade we picked up from the village, what the fuck.

Turn 7: Dorcas levels, getting hp/str/skill/speed/luck. I am called on the phone and offered a job so idk what the fuck else happened during these turns, but Oswin leveled and got HP/Str/Skill/Speed.

Turn 8: Marcus with the silver card buys a shitload of iron weapons.

Turn 9: Marcus with the silver card buys a shitload of heal staves and fire tomes.

Turn 10: Erk levels getting hp/skill/def by blasting Erik. Eliwood of all people fucking finishes off Erik, the last enemy, and levels, gaining hp/str/luck.

Oh and after this, while my Tactics is still at 3 (and the next chapter is a 0-turn one, fuck off), my combat went back to 5. Nice.

Difficulty: 3/10 - Erik is a complete loser of a boss, unable to even OHKO Erk with a Thunder tome or Lowen, you know, the guy his weapon is supposed to be really good against. The only thing you need to keep in mind for this chapter is to never allow a weakened pegasus knight or pirate a turn, or else they will run back to their fortress and spend hours healing, ruining your turns. With Lowen, Marcus, and Guy around, there's no way you'll lose to these guys.
Turns taken so far/Turns allowed: 44/37.

Chapter 15: Talons Alight

Turn Limit: 0
Minimum Experience: 0
Funds: 0

Eubans is known as the Hurricane? Isn't Legault called that too? What the fuck? As it turns out, Eubans was -originally- known as the Fierce Eagle in the Japanese version, which made the chapter title, "Talons Alight" make a hell of a lot more sense. While I love this game's translation 98% of the time, that is really kind of annoying.

On that note, who even cares if we lose the throne here? Oh no, some mercenary assholes are controlling Laus. That really affects our overnight stay.

I decide on using Hector, Erk, Matthew, Priscilla, Serra, Dorcas, Eliwood, Bartre, and Oswin. Marcus definitely gets to sit out for awhile and Guy is a nice, comfy level 7 at this point so some others could use the experience. Dorcas, Bartre, and Erk are positioned on the east side, with the fighters slightly south of Erk.

Turn 1: Dorcas heads southwest to hand axe a knight, as does Bartre. Erk takes up position behind them, Hector runs south, Eliwood hits the western wall, Matthew runs east to unlock the southern-most door and Oswin heads to the north one. Priscilla and Serra move to be just out of range of javelins. Matthew weakens the mage on the counter with his wind sword, Eliwood is shot by a nomad, and Bartre is shot by Sealen, who thankfully misses once. Bartre is reduced to 5 by a knight but dodges a lethal archer, not hitting him in return. Dorcas hits a knight and an archer with his hand axe

Turn 2: Bartre retreats and kills a knight and gets hp/str/skill/speed. Hector kills a knight and gets hp/str/speed. Dorcas backs off to kill a soldier, Erk kills an archer, Matthew runs south to kill a knight with the wind sword, Oswin javelins a mercenary, Priscilla heals Eliwood who breaks the wall, and Serra heals Bartre. The nomad to the west runs south to shoot Dorcas, Eliwood flails at a Fighter, Hector is shot and burned, Oswin weakens a nomad and kills the mercenary.

Turn 3: Serra levels by healing Dorcas, getting magic/luck/res. Priscilla heals Serra. Matthew kills a mage with an iron sword, while Hector downs a nomad with wolf beil. Dorcas misses the nomad nearby, but Bartre and Erk take him down. Oswin kills the nomad on the counter. Eliwood stabs a fighter to death and gets hp/str/speed/def/res, then downs another and weakens a 3rd. Priscilla is shot at but missed, and Sealen smokes Hector to put him at 8. Matthew weakens a myrmidon.

Turn 4: Oswin takes down the remaining knight with his iron lance, Matthew steals a lockpick from the thief, gaining hp/skill/def/res. Dorcas and Bartre take out the archer nearby and Erk kills the myrmidon. Serra heals Dorcas and Priscilla heals Hector. Hector runs southwest to be in range of the myrmidon but not of Sealen, and Eliwood weakens a fighter. Priscilla is slashed by a mercenary, Hector weakens a myrmidon, Eliwood kills a fighter, and another rushes in to get hit by him.

Turn 5: Eliwood eats a vulnerary, Erk kills a myrmidon, Priscilla goes to heal Bartre, and Serra heals Priscilla. Hector weakens a mercenary, Bartre misses a merc but Dorcas kills it with his hand axe. Oswin goes northeast to draw out cavaliers and Matthew pilfers a Silver Axe. Eliwood weakens a fighter and gets hp/str/skill/speed/def and a bunch of enemies flail at Hector uselessly.

Turn 6: Matthew pilfers a Mend staff. Erk kills a mercenary and Eliwood kills a fighter. Hector kills a cavalier with wolf beil while Dorcas and Bartre kill another. Oswin stabs a cavalier who wields a javelin with his iron lance. Eliwood is smacked by a fighter but weakens him, and Oswin weakens another cavalier charging him.

Turn 7: Hector smacks Sealen in his stupid face with wolf beil to put him at 6. Bartre finishes him off, gaining hp/str and winning that Dragonshield. Priscilla heals Hector and levels, gaining hp/skill/speed/luck/res, and Serra heals Erk. Erk positions himself to counter a cavalier if needed. Eliwood dodges the fighters and Oswin...dodges a hell of a lot of lances that wouldn't kill him and fails at stabbing anyone. Whatever, I win.

After this, my tactics rank has dropped to 2 stars (not a surprise when you check my turns taken below) and my combat is down to 4, but I'm 99% sure I can get that back to 5 before the end of the game.

On a final note, Wind Sword Matthew is just hilariously broken at this point in the game. Matthew, already the best character in Hector Hard Mode, wielding a 1-2 range weapon that targets resistance at range? Ahahaha, enemies are so totally fucking fucked against him it's not even funny.

Difficulty: 6/10 - This chapter can be a real pain in the ass, and mostly for one reason: Bartre. Bartre is an absolutely terrible unit at this point, but you basically will need him to take down some of the knights. Sealen is thankfully a very aggressive boss and will come to you when you need him to, so you can kill him in one turn providing you hit with wolf beil. He's not much of a threat, really. Eliwood having to fend off a million fighters is hilarious but he actually did really well, and Oswin drawing out those cavaliers at the northeast end will save you a -lot- of grief. Overall, if you've given a few levels to Bartre for this chapter it will go a long way to helping you win. Don't forget that your healers can usually tank one hit each if you need them to draw fire, and that Hector doesn't give a shit about the weapon triangle and is just fine taking down the sword-user reinforcements with Erk's help.
Chapter 16: Noble Lady of Caelin

Turn Limit: 7
Minimum Experience: 1,100
Funds: 31,000

Florina lands on top of Hector after almost getting shot by an archer. So this is almost the same plot as chapter 4, only Hector isn't an asshole. The idea of Hector getting landed on by both a Pegasus and its rider is hilarious though.

Lady Lyndis is sporting a shiny blue gem due to how many turns it took me to beat Lyn Hard Mode (damn you Nils), but the 5,000 gold hit to funds shouldn't make a big difference given that my link cable items are worth probably more than 40,000.

Deployed: Hector, Eliwood, Lowen, Priscilla, Serra, Rebecca, Erk, Matthew. Hector gets the Emblem Seal.

Turn 1: Florina, Lyn, Kent, Sain, and Wil are all recruited. Everyone moves south, while Wil puts himself in a position to 2-range counter both Pegasus Knights from the east side (2 south, 3 west). Lyn moves onto a forest to be out of range of both. Erk levels, getting hp/skill/luck. Lowen levels, getting hp/luck/def/res. Wil counters both pegasus knights and Lowen has a vulnerary stolen from him.

Turn 2: Rebecca shoots down a pegasus knight, Wil kills another, and Lyn finishes off a 3rd. Kent weakens a mercenary and Sain kills another. Eliwood gets hp/str/speed/luck/res by stabbinating a cavalier with his rapier, Erk kills a mercenary with thunder, and Hector defeats a pegasus knight, getting hp/speed/def. Lowen stabs a cavalier and Florina finishes it off. Prissy heals Erk and Serra heals Lowen. Kent weakens a myrmidon and a mercenary and Erk has his vulnerary stolen.

Turn 3: Matthew steals back his damn vulnerary again, Priscilla heals Eliwood, and Serra heals Florina. Erk weakens the thief and Rebecca finishes him off, getting hp/str/speed. Eliwood heads south to engage the brigands while Kent visits a village for a heavy spear. Lyn picks off the myrmidon nearby while Sain takes down the mercenary. Wil goes to the forest to draw more ballista fire. Florina visits the village for a red gem and rides north, and Lowen heads northeast.

Turn 4: Erk blasts a cavalier and Hector severely wounds him, then Rebecca finishes it. Florina tosses a javelin at a cavalier. Lyn kills a brigand while Kent and Sain head north. Matthew kills the mage and gets Fire, while Lowen severely weakens a cavalier with his horseslayer. Priscilla heals Rebecca and Serra moves in for healing duties next turn. Matthew and Lowen smoke the cavaliers and Eliwood takes down a brigand on the counter.

Turn 5: Erk kills a cavalier with fire, Hector weakens another, Serra heals Lowen, and Lowen goes to engage the cavalier. Rebecca puts herself in a pro position where she can kill the cavalier and be javelin'd by a pegasus knight if need be, gaining hp/str/skill/speed. Eliwood finishes the brigand and Priscilla heals him. Sain criticals the archer nearby and Kent...criticals the mercenary. Ok, I love these two so much. Matthew kills the nearby mercenary and Florina moves a bit east. Lyn kills a brigand on the counter, getting str/skill/speed.

Turn 6: Erk kills a cavalier, Hector kills a mercenary, Matthew kills the new cavalier with his wind sword, Lowen weakens a mercenary, Florina and Kent take down a pegausus knight and Kent gains hp/str/skill/speed. Sain runs over to Serra for healing, and Priscilla heals Rebecca who moves south. Eliwood heads north and Lyn waits. Matthew gains hp/speed/def from countering/killing a mercenary and is blasted to 10 by a mage.

Turn 7: Lowen weakens an archer, Hector takes down a mage, and Florina finishes the archer (how ironic), getting str/skill/speed. Serra heals Kent and gains skill/speed/luck. Wil kills a brigand, getting skill/speed. Matthew runs back so Priscilla can have something to do. Lyn sells her blue gem and buys two hand axes, two iron swords, and a slim sword.

Turn 8: Priscilla heals Matthew, Serra heals Hector. Florina flails at Bauker with her javelin and misses, Hector smacks Bauker with Wolf Beil and kills him with a critical. Hector gains hp/skill/luck/def. Lyn buys 2 javelins and a steel bow. Wil buys a heal staff.

Turn 9: Priscilla heals Matthew, Serra heals Hector, and Hector seizes.

Difficulty: 2/10 - Beating this in 7 turns is really annoying, but you can make up for turns later anyway, so no big problem. Bauker himself is more wolf beil fodder, but he's only really notable for the fact that if Hector has been failing to get luck increases with his levels, he may be in a slight bit of danger against him. Getting back your old units really makes this chapter a breeze, especially if you've done Lyn Hard Mode before all this.
Chapter 17: Whereabouts Unknown

Turn Limit: 18
Minimum Experience: 1,100
Funds: 31,500

Yes Hector, someone is watching you and wants you dead: how about the 3 enemies right in your face?

Turn 1: Erk blasts a myrmidon with thunder, Lyn finishes him off. Hector smacks a knight with his iron axe and Sain finishes him. Kent rides up to attack a mercenary and Matthew finishes him with wind sword. Lowen tosses javelins at an archer, Florina moves to be out of archer range and Priscilla/Serra advance. Kent counters a ton of enemies like a pro.

Turn 2: Florina stabs an archer to death, Lyn slays a cavalier with manni katti, Matthew steals a door key from an archer (hurrrrr), whom Erk then kills. Hector kills a nomad, Sain kills an archer, getting str/speed/def, and Kent kills another. Lowen stabs an archer approaching us, Serra heals Kent, and Priscilla heals Lyn.

Turn 3: Matthew engages the shaman with his wind sword, Lowen stabs a knight, gaining hp/speed/luck, Hector takes down an archer with his hand axe, and the rest of the gang head through the passage. Lowen weakens 2 knights and tanks some arrows while Matthew finishes off the shaman.

Turn 4: Matthew opens the door, Hector tosses a hand axe at a nomad, Florina kills a knight with a javelin, Lowen stabs an archer twice, Kent kills him with a javelin, getting hp/str/luck. Sain rescues Florina, whom Priscilla takes to drop off.

Turn 5: Erk gets hp/skill from killing a cavalier, Matthew snags an unlock, Lowen kills the knight, Florina picks off a nomad, Hector finishes another with wolf beil, and Sain kills an archer with his iron sword to get a door key. Priscilla heals Kent, gaining skill/res, and Serra heals Erk.

Turn 6: Matthew snags a Hero Crest, Kent runs back to protect Merlinus when the time comes, Raven moves into position to engage the fighter and Sain to engage the archer with a javelin. Sain kills two archers with his javelin and Raven takes down a fighter. A thief pilfers a silver sword, and the other...runs off the map? What the shit? Whatever.

Turn 7: Raven runs off to recruit Lucius, Serra heals Lowen, Priscilla heals Sain, Lyn takes down an archer with a critical.

Turn 8: Raven is healed by Priscilla and Raven 1-rounds the archer. Matthew runs east and Kent goes to protect Merlinus. Florina blocks the thief and javelins him, Lowen throws a javelin at an archer,

Turn 9: Lyn gets hp/str/skill/speed/def from killing a knight with manni katti. Sain kills an archer with his iron sword, Erk blasts another, and Lowen kills him. Florina kills the thief and gets hp/str/skill/speed and a knight crest (sorry Silver Sword, you're way too hard to get for this). Serra heals Priscilla and Kent takes down a nomad. Matthew runs east. Hector gets hp/str. Matthew takes down a cavalier and Merlinus is attacked twice.

Turn 10: Priscilla heals Florina and Serra heals Lowen. Kent weakens a nomad, Hector weakens a knight with his hand axe, Raven runs closer to Lucius, and Merlinus is killed this turn (oh noes).

Turn 11: Serra heals Lyn, getting magic/resistance. Hector kills a knight and Lyn kills the other. Priscilla heals Hector and Raven recruits Lucius. Kent kills a nomad. Matthew levels, getting skill/speed, and is knocked down to 1 hp by the nomad he kills.

Turn 12: Florina kills an archer, Matthew kills a cavalier, Kent weakens a cavalier, Priscilla heals Sain and Hector weakens Bernard. Sain takes him out with a 35% javelin hit, gaining hp/luck. Kent levels by killing a cavalier, getting hp/skill/luck/def/res.

Turn 13: Priscilla heals Sain, Kent stabs a cavalier, Hector seizes. I get a Red Gem for saving all the soldiers, sadly having to drop an iron axe. hurrrr.

Difficulty: 1/10 - This chapter is insanely easy. Raven moves towards you, which makes getting him a hell of a lot easier. Bernard is barely any more difficult than Bauker, and Merlinus is just not even worth saving (I have to give credit to Kent, he did try at least). There's a ton of archers in this chapter but Florina can double them anyway, and your cavaliers are more than a match for them.
Turns taken so far/Turns allowed: 74/62
