Chapter 17x: The Port of Badon

Turn Limit: 10
Minimum Experience: 700
Funds: 16,000

Deployment: Hector, Eliwood, Lyn, Florina, Oswin, Lucius. Oswin gets the emblem seal and a horseslayer. Florina has all her weapons taken from her.

Turn 1: Lucius recruits Canas. Eliwood nabs a devil axe from the other village. Canas runs south, Hector runs beside Florina, who rescues him and moves above the village where we got Canas. Lyn runs north and Oswin moves west along the southern passage. Lyn kills a pirate with a critical, gaining str/skill/speed/luck/def.

Turn 2: Florina visits the short bow village and moves onto the wall to the west. Oswin levels by throwing a javelin at Mr. Swordslayer, getting hp/speed/luck/def. Lyn runs north and kills a pirate with manni katti and Lucius runs north. Canas goes to support Oswin and Eliwood stays put.

Turn 3: Canas kills the swordslayer, Oswin equips the horseslayer and uses a vulnerary, Lyn weakens a pirate, Lucius kills it. Florina drops off Hector 1 space above the Vendor. Oswin hits Damian twice with his horseslayer.

Turn 4: Oswin CROWS IN TRIUMPH by killing that silly bastard with his horseslayer. I forget what he got for his level up. Canas kills a pirate, getting hp/magic. Eliwood goes 2 south to stab a pirate to death with his rapier. Florina visits the village for a Lancereaver, Lucius kills another pirate. Lyn moves west. Oswin, at 6 hp, survives an entire turn from the pirates (only one hit him, granted, and it was for...3 damage, but holy shit I love Oswin). Also Merlinus got attacked but not lethally. CROW IN MOTHERFUCKING TRIUMPH!!!!

Turn 5: Eliwood stabs a pirate to death and levels, getting HP. Florina visits a village for a sleep staff, causing Fargus to get pissed off and want to kill us. Lucius kills another pirate. Canas uses flux on a pirate, and Hector talks to Fargus, winning the chapter.

Difficulty: 5/10 - Yeah, I decided not to take on Fargus's insane posse, but this chapter is still surprisingly annoying at times. Damian hits hard even to Oswin, Florina has to be positioned very precisely to not be ganked by pirates, and Canas isn't really at his best in this chapter at all.
Turns taken so far/Turns allowed: 79/72
I decided to redo this and kill the Super Pirates using the amazing Guy. It's not actually much harder providing the Swordslayer pirate is killed before he can OHKO Guy. Not much really changed other than Guy gaining 3 levels and Eliwood getting a level, but that's a hell of a lot more EXP overall.

Epy 7:41 pm There you go CG. It's turn 5 and the only enemies left are Fargus, Dart, a pirate with an iron axe, the shaman, and the mage

Epy: 7:41 pm ARE YOU ENTERTAINED

Celtic7Guardian 7:41 pm I sure am! Knew you could do it =D

Epy 7:41 pm I will post on the flux about this great success

In conclusion: GUY IS A BEAST
Difficulty: 1/10 - This chapter is insanely easy.

Trying to get that Silver Sword probably knocks it up to like 7/10. By itself.

It was not worth doing either.

Now, granted, you're using cavaliers, where I wasn't, so you had more options than me - where I basically had to send Marcus on a solo mission right through the entire enemy army to get there by Turn 7.

...which let me tell you is a lot of fun

Also kind of surprised you found 17x at 5/10. I thought 17x was a joke chapter. Damian isn't even a Top 2 problem on the map, might not even be Top 3. That mage, archer, and maybe the shaman are way more terrifying!

Of course, Lyn had such crazy stats that she could destroy Damian by herself, which I'm sure is helpful.
The biggest reason for 17x getting 5/10 was figuring out how to position Florina. When it's all implemented with the strategy I used to kill everything (Guy on a forest), you only really need to make sure Swordslayer dies and that Devil Axe rams into himself, plus have Guy dodge things he should be dodging anyway.

I'd say another reason for 5 is that you only have 6 units as well, which is a little nasty since one of them is cleaning the north and the other is visiting villages stealthily. Overall though it's still not that difficult since you win within 5 turns. I'm saving things that get over 6/10 for stuff like Cog of Destiny, definitely.
Lady Lyndis is sporting a shiny blue gem due to how many turns it took me to beat Lyn Hard Mode (damn you Nils), but the 5,000 gold hit to funds shouldn't make a big difference given that my link cable items are worth probably more than 40,000.

I think it's based on your collective Lyn mode worth (gold + items), actually. To get the White Gem you pretty much either need to not use the stat boosters, or not use the magic tomes/heal staff/other expensive weapons.

(sorry Silver Sword, you're way too hard to get for this)

it makes me feel better that you didn't bother with that damn sword either

Also kind of surprised you found 17x at 5/10. I thought 17x was a joke chapter.

I imagine it's tougher if you're speedrunning because you have to provoke everything ASAP, and while those pirates and Damian are jokes individually, together they WILL get lucky and kill someone. >_>

but yeah, nerf that archer and mage. seriously.

Chapter 18: Pirate Ship

Turn Limit: 11
Minimum Experience: 1,450
Funds: 14,000

Deployment: Hector, Matthew, Sain, Kent, Oswin, Lowen, Serra, Priscilla. Lowen had the emblem seal.

I did most of this while away from the computer, but for the first 4 or 5 turns I blocked off the stairs with Oswin and Lowen. Note that this chapter, for once, WILL end if you kill the boss, Zoldam, so try to do that on turn 11. On turn 1 be sure to move out of range of the western pegasus knights so that Matthew can steal an Elysian Whip.

I don't recommend Pure Waters for this chapter. You don't have any time to actually use them. You must keep attacking every player phase to drive back these enemies. I had Priscilla with the silver card at some point sell two red gems and buy a hell of a lot of javelins for later. Speaking of, Lowen and Oswin should almost always be wielding javelins to counter shamans. It will really, really help you if Nosferatus miss once or twice as well.

I managed to have Matthew steal Zoldam's Guiding Ring on turn 11 and let Sain finish him off. Because I ended the chapter early, I won't end up taking an "extra" turn, so that works out well.

As for levels: Hector gained a level, Oswin gained 2 levels, Lowen gained 3 levels, Matthew gained a level, Priscilla gained a level, Serra gained a level, Sain gained 2 levels, and Kent gained a level. This chapter is very nice for gaining experience, which is why I recommend drawing it out even if it means leaving Zoldam alive until turn 11. Even with all those level ups, I'm pretty sure I still fell short of the monstrous EXP requirement for this chapter, but every bit saved up early will help.

Oh and notably during one of my attempts, Lowen gained a perfect level up. What a monster!

Difficulty: 6/10 - This chapter makes you actually have to focus on defense for the first half, and Pegasus Knights that get close absolutely have to die or else they'll poke your healers. Zoldam is one of my least favorite bosses in the entire series just because there's no way at this point you'll be able to reduce the critical chance from Luna to 0. You'll just have to hope he doesn't critical you, because whoever is hit by crit Luna will die horrifically unless they have approximately 43 HP or more (Matthew could have that if I gave him my other angelic robe but fuck that). So long as one or two dark spells miss you you should be fine for this chapter overall though. Be sure to stock up for the Dread Isle!
Chapter 19: The Dread Isle

Turn Limit: 10
Minimum Experience: 1,100
Funds: 16,000

"A low line of shore was visible at first on the right between the movement of the waves and fog, but when we came further it was lost sight of, and nothing could be seen but the mist curling in the rigging, and a small circle of foam."

Deployment: Hector, Florina, Guy, Lucius, Lyn, Bartre, Dorcas, Raven, Erk, Priscilla, Serra, Matthew. Raven gets the Emblem Seal.

Story notes: I know, I know, Laus is retarded, but why on earth would anyone think Nergal could control dragons? They haven't been seen in so long that no one would be able to test that! Fuck you Laus!

Ephidel performs his 3rd stabbing and then confronts Leila, who was just wanting to check on her sentries. Wait a minute...

Leila wanted to check on sentries, and Ephidel is backstabbing people all the time? I think Ephidel may have gotten who the spy was mixed up. Hell, Hector even asks if there's a sentry ahead in the next scene. I had no idea that the Dread Isle was actually a Team Fortress 2 map. No wonder no one wants to go there.

Turn 1: Dart is recruited. Dart, Lucius, Lyn, Bartre, Serra, and Dorcas stick to the north end for now, with Lyn parking in a forest and Dart going to the middle section of the northeast beach to use a torch. Matthew goes south a bit to use a torch. Guy runs to Florina, who picks up up and flies south to be above a fortress. Raven runs to said fort, picks up Guy, and throws him at the other fort. Priscilla rescues Florina and Hector throws her out of nomad range. Erk blasts the cavalier in the south end with thunder. Lyn weakens a pirate while Raven weakens a cavalier and kills another, gaining hp/str/skill/luck. Dart kills a pegasus knight with a hand axe.

Turn 2: Lyn runs west to sit on a forest and engage the pirate. Dart kills a pegasus knight. Bartre kills a pegasus, getting hp/speed/def/res. Dorcas weakens a nomad, gaining hp/str/skill/luck/def. Florina kills a pirate and Lucius kills the nomad. Serra heals Dorcas and Matthew kills a pegasus knight. Priscilla heals Raven, Hector kills a nomad with wolf beil after Raven kills a cavalier with his lancereaver. Lyn weakens a pirate, Lucius weakens a pegasus knight, Priscilla is shot by a longbow, Fiora shows up and kills a pegasus knight.

Turn 3: Florina recruits Fiora. Matthew kills the longbow nomad with his wind sword, Erk kills a pegasus knight with thunder, Hector hits a cavalier with his iron axe, Guy kills a nomad as does Raven, and the three axe fighters gang up to kill one nomad. Fiora sits on a forest with her axereaver to wait for the pirates, Priscilla retreats for Serra to heal. Lyn weakens a pirate, Fiora weakens two, Guy weakens a cavalier, Raven weakens another, an axe fighter kills a pegasus.

Turn 4: Lucius kills a pirate, gaining magic/speed/res. Serra heals him. Dorcas kills a pirate with his hand axe, and Fiora kills another. Matthew criticals a nomad while Raven kills a cavalier, gaining str/speed. Lyn weakens another pirate, gaining hp/str/skill/speed/luck. Guy weakens a cavalier, Hector weakens another.

Turn 5: Dorcas hits a pirate and Fiora kills it. Lucius takes down another pirate and Dart kills a peg, getting hp/speed/def. Matthew runs south to kill a cavalier, Priscilla heals Raven, and Raven kills another cavalier. Hector weakens a nomad that Guy kills. Serra heals Fiora and Florina flies south. Lyn weakens a pirate, Florina kills one, gaining hp/luck, and then kills another, dodging a lethal blow. Dart kills a pegasus knight.

Turn 6: Hector gets hp/str/luck from hitting a nomad whom Raven kills. Priscilla heals Guy and Serra heals Dorcas. Fiora flies east to hit a monk, while Dart takes down another pegasus knight. Lucius kills a pirate. Lyn weakens a pirate, Fiora weakens a cavalier.

Turn 7: Priscilla heals Hector. Matthew kills a nomad, gaining skill. Raven kills another, Guy kills another, gaining hp/skill/speed/res. Fiora weakens the monk further, gaining skill/speed/def/res. Bartre weakens a cavalier who Dorcas kills. Lucius kills a pirate, gaining skill/luck/res. Serra heals Lyn. Erk weakens a monk that Hector kills. Guy weakens a myrmidon and Priscilla gets shot.

Turn 8: Bartre kills a monk. Serra heals Fiora, Erk weakens the mymidon more, and Florina kills it with a javelin. Guy waits in Uhai's longbow range while Matthew kills a nomad. Priscilla heals Hector. Uhai pulls out his longbow and misses Guy.

Turn 9: Raven smacks Uhai with his longsword, getting hp/speed. Guy hits him with killing edge, Priscilla heals Florina and gets hp/magic/speed/luck. Serra heals Dart, gaining magic/luck/res. Guy counters Uhai's longsword attack with killing edge.

Turn 10: Priscilla heals Guy. Florina smacks Uhai with her javelin, and Raven misses with his longsword, but...GUY PROS THE FUCK UP AND CRITICALS HIM WITH KILLING EDGE!!!! SUCH POWER! Guy levels, getting hp/skill/luck.

Difficulty: 7/10 - There are two big problems with this chapter. The early parts of it are obnoxious as you need to position your units precisely to not have anyone get attacked too much. The mid-game part of the chapter is a breeze, but then comes Uhai. I've called Uhai the hardest boss in the game and for good reason. 14 Attack speed, sitting on a forest, with a killing edge, longbow, and short bow. Uhai also comes with high defense and resistance, and a ton of avoid. The only things that keep him from being an absolute god is that he's not on a fortress and he never moves. You will need a critical to take him down within the turn limit, or some epic longsword passes. So why does this chapter only get a 7 instead of higher? Because when you figure out what to do, the RNG can only screw you over with Uhai. The other enemies will never manage to mess you up with the right positioning.
Chapter 19x: Imprisoner of Magic

Turn Limit: 10
Minimum Experience: 1,000
Funds: 24,500

Deployment: Hector, Matthew, Marcus, Florina, Fiora, Sain, Eliwood, Priscilla. Emblem Seal to Sain.

I am not going to give you how many tries this took me before I finally took down Kishuna. My god. I had Florina and Fiora shuttle people over to him after Eliwood stabbed all the axereaver pegasus knights to death, and Matthew slowly made his way to Aion for the silver card. On turn 12 I finally began the assault on Kishuna after Aion died, hitting him with Marcus's silver lance and then Sain came in and was THE MOTHERFUCKING CHAMPION OF ALL CAVALIERS, WINNER OF WOMEN'S HEARTS BY LANDING A CRITICAL KILLING EDGE!!! SUCH POWER! After that Hector seizes and I feel much relief.

Hm, this feels -really- fucking similar to Uhai for some reason...wonder why?

Difficulty: 7/10 - The chapter itself is easy and deserves no more than a 3 on its own, but killing Kishuna is aggravating beyond belief, especially how many turns it takes to set up the perfect kill. It's not just Kishuna either, but you also need to steal Aion's silver card AND take him out, AND visit the southeast village. I really wish they let you have more than 8 units for this shit. If you're unaware, Kishuna has to die in one round as well, and has the most retarded speed ever (25). However, you can still use the Wind Sword within a magic seal and Kishuna has abysmal resistance so abuse that if you can.

Turn Limit: 0
Minimum Experience: 0

Deployment: Hector, Matthew, Priscilla, Marcus, Sain, Raven, Florina, Eliwood

I again didn't bother doing a writeup for this. I chased the thief but didn't catch up, so I just got an Eclipse instead of his Dragonshield. Given how often people come here for S-rank runs, I really don't mind. I sent Florina up north with a door key and a chest key I got from the thief to get the Talisman. Raven took down Teodor in the end. Those 2 wyvern riders hit really hard for this point. :( Overall I took 9 turns to complete this chapter.

EDIT: I actually redid this chapter using Kent, Fiora and Bartre instead of Sain, Florina, and Marcus so that they could get some EXP. I managed to win the Dragonshield and Eclipse this time and only took 8 turns!

Difficulty: 4/10 - This is a pretty short chapter, all things considered. Not very many enemies, and Teodor is one of the easiest bosses in the entire game since he sits there with a heavy, long range, useless Eclipse. The thieves are the most annoying parts of this chapter, really. My turn count has been jacked up a whole lot, but I can still make up for it with a few later chapters. Note that the thieves here are EXP goldmines due to being such high levels! Really helps alleviate some of the stupidity I had to go through to beat 19x.

hey guys, fire emblem 8

i've never played eirika hard mode

so i'm gonna play eirika hard mode

let's do this. i guess. it's fe8 so it's hard to get excited about it.
Chapter 1-5

hello i am fe8 i am populated by enemies that die to slight breezes

Chapter 6

i fucking hate defend maps.

Overall, this is probably my least favorite map in the game. Yeah, ghost ship, but that's only a problem on Ephraim Hard Mode. This is a pain in the ass every single time you play the game. this one actually took me like three tries. goddammit.

Chapter 7

hello i am fe8

what's that you want to beat me

okay i ain't gonna stop you

Chapter 8

hello i am fe8

sometimes i get really, really lucky and kill one of your units

and then it's equivalent to about 10 losses in fe7 in terms of frustration because it's like losing a game of water polo to a crippled butterfly

Chapter 9 Eirika

This chapter is actually sorta tough if you want to get that village on the left. It pretty much requires rushing Seth, and if he's still level 1-3, he can absolutely die there. Ah well.

Recruited Amelia here for I think the first time? Normally it's just not worth it to me.

Chapter 10 Eirika

Oh geez, this map. for some reason i had a lot of trouble with this map. I kept being a ****ing moron and losing units (usually Franz) to stupidity, e.g. me carrying out a very complicated plan to save Franz and then blowing it at the very end by ending turn without issuing Franz a command.

there's also a reinforcement here with a talisman. god tier trolling. hope you deployed a thief!

Chapter 11 Eirika

I tried to send Vanessa and Tana south at the start but then they ran into an archer and FFFFFF- retreat.

despite that, easy chapter. an enemy skeleton NEARLY got away with a pilfered restore staff but then ross killed his ass and tanked a hit from the boss that i forgot was nearby. ahahaha i am dumb.

Chapter 12 Eirika

**** you franz i had this chapter won. i blame you for the enemy having a horseslayer and me not bothering to check to see if he had a horseslayer.

seriously though this chapter is boring

Chapter 13 Eirika

Seth: Fuck defend maps. I'm going to take a Horseslayer and go solo the entire eastern half of the battlefield.
Eirika: But that's the side with the majority of the enemies.
Seth: fuck defend maps.
Eirika: And this chapter really isn't all that hard.
Seth: fuck defend maps.
Eirika: So why-
Seth: because fuck defend maps.

(i did have the sense to wait for cormag to show up so i could recruit him before killing the boss, at least)

EDIT: I actually redid this chapter using Kent, Fiora and Bartre instead of Sain, Florina, and Marcus so that they could get some EXP. I managed to win the Dragonshield and Eclipse this time and only took 8 turns! It's far easier to just have Matthew steal the Chest Key, let Kent rescue him with no stealable items equipped, and then have Fiora drop Matthew off and flee. Have Matthew run the whole chapter along the north route to intercept the thief and jack his items, while Fiora takes a door key and the chest key to nab the talisman. I also used Priscilla to lure the ballista once or twice as it almost always will target her over a pegasus knight. By the time the 8 turns were up Kent had managed to finally kill the sniper in the southern trench. Oh also Hector and Eliwood got their C support.

My levels between both tries, to compare:

First time:

Hector to 14.58
Eliwood at 10.92
Matthew at 20 obviously
Priscilla at 8.8 (lololo)
Marcus at 3.16 (compared to 2.55 with redux)
Raven at 10.51
Florina at 17.29 (compared to 15.88 with redux)
Sain at 17.7 (compared to 15.88 with redux, wait, what the fuck? Exact same EXP as Florina?)

Redux:

Kent went to 13.88 instead of 12.33
Bartre to 8.50 instead of 7.60
Priscilla to 8.23
Raven to 10.36
Hector to 15.12
Eliwood to 11.48
Matthew at 20 obviously
Fiora to 9.49 instead of 9.2

Overall I'd say it's worth keeping the way I redid it just for the amp in funds rank, the lesser turns, and the fact that most of my units gained more levels instead of having Sain and Florina hog them all.

Turns taken so far/Turns allowed: 120/103
Beat Donkey Kong Country Returns. Overall, great game. Definitely lived up to the previous DKC titles. That said, the end of the game gets way, way too ****ing hard for someone like me, and while I like to joke about DUR HUR HOW DO I PLAYED VIDYA I AM SO BAD AT THIS GUYS, I'm honestly pretty decent at most games. I have to think that if this game was way too ****ing hard for me, it has to be way too ****ing hard for the usual Donkey Kong audience, right? I dunno, maybe people appreciate entire worlds of platforming over insta-death. I sure don't, though.

It wasn't unusual for me to be playing a level and think, "wow, this would be really fun if there were like three times as many checkpoints". I think we can go ahead and rule out me doing any of this game's optional content right now.
The best part is that I now have legitimate reason to argue Little Mac over about half of the usual MPFC entrants. At the end of DKCR, Donkey Kong punches the moon out of orbit. And Little Mac defeated Donkey Kong in a boxing match in Punch-Out!! Wii.

"In war there is no substitute for victory."

Deployment: Hector, Eliwood, Lyn, Matthew, Priscilla, Kent, Bartre, Sain, Serra, Lowen, Erk, Marcus. Hector gets the Emblem Seal. Matthew gets a silver card, Marcus gets a door key, and Priscilla gets the Unlock staff.

Let's go over my general strategy for this since I finished it in the car on the way to an interview:

Turn 1: Priscilla unlocks the western door right in front of it. Matthew snags a Brave Bow. Bartre goes to the eastern forest with a hand axe so he can counter the archer with Killer Boots. Kent runs north with a heavy spear to try and lure the mage into 2-ranging him. Hector hits the knight nearby and Erk kills it.

Turn 2: If things have gone well, Eliwood gets a chance to stab the thunder mage to death. Lyn runs north to kill a cavalier with Manni Katti, and then Sain rides north with horselayer to kill a nomad and prepare to engage Cameron. If I'm lucky, Bartre strikes down the Killer Boots archer with his hand axe. Lowen doubles the longbow archer with his axereaver, Matthew runs out and is rescued by Marcus who rides north. Erk kills the other longbow archer with double Thunder. Kent kills a knight with his heavy spear. Cameron rides down and hopefully Sain stabs him with horseslayer.

Turn 3: Sain goes northwest to one-shot a nomad, Lyn kills Cameron, and then you have to try and clear a bit of a path for Marcus. Bartre should be running west to the forest with his hand axe to wait for the archer reinforcements and Kent either mops up the last knight or rides north to help. If Priscilla can get a spare turn to use Unlock on the door next to the 2 chests, do so.

Turn 4: This is the most vital turn and the one where the RNG loves to mess you up. You must either clear a path for Marcus completely so he can drop Matthew or have someone grab Matthew from him to drop him off. Bartre should keep waiting for the archer, and by this time you can have Erk play around with the mage that appeared.

Turn 5: Marcus opens the door with a door key and Matthew or Sain runs in to kill the Nosferatu shaman. If Matthew does, I would have Kent trade with him to empty his inventory. This turn is also vital because you must be set up so that someone can cockblock the Member Card thief next turn. Bartre starts hitting archers and usually Priscilla stays behind to heal Erk or something. Lowen can take the unlocked passage from earlier and ready an axereaver to take down the fighters.

Turn 6: Hector engages Darin with Wolf Beil or talks to Legault. Matthew steals a Member Card and then Kent trades with Matthew to get a silver/member card and ride them over to Legault. Legault takes them and Marcus engages the eastern knights. Eliwood goes west to deal with the soldier.

Turn 7: Matthew steals a Chest Key from a thief and Hector has usually finished off Darin by this point. Marcus rescues Legault as he comes over and rides full throttle for the southeast secret shop. Lyn goes to the fighters who are...busy breaking walls in the southeast. Bartre by this point is busy hitting pegasus knights.

Turn 8: Matthew steals his 2nd chest key, and has a cavalier begin to shuttle him to the western chests. Marcus continues south.

Turn 9: Matthew is shuttled almost to the range where he can open chests. Marcus hits the southeast wall and Lyn plays with fighters.

Turn 10: Marcus busts open the wall, Matthew is dropped off by the chests.

Turn 11: Legault is dropped off, Matthew snags a Luna from a chest.

Turn 12: Legault buys a Killer Lance, Killer Axe, Killer Boots, and 2 Killing Edges. As I found out during one attempt, Silver Cards do not stack. :( Matthew snags a Blue Gem and Hector seizes.

Difficulty: 7/10 - I considered a 6, but this chapter can be seriously annoying, even despite the fact that your plan is basically set in stone for this chapter. Evenly leveling your units really starts to catch up to you here, and you need the RNG to be very nice to you in order to make the path clear to the Member Card thief. Darin himself is more Wolf Beil fodder (in fact, my Wolf Beil is now gone after that) but if Hector doesn't have 10 luck by this point, Darin can critical him. The turn limit is very nice at least, but given how quick you need to go to snag the Member Card and Legault, why would you ever take 16 turns to finish it? Either way, I have to make up for 13 turns later...this will be quite a challenge.
Turns taken so far/Turns allowed: 132/119
HP: 33
STR: 15
SKL: 11
SPD: 7
Luck: 5
DEF: 14
RES: 5
Weapon Rank(s): Lances - A
Support(s): None

Comments: Probably will end up on par with Kenri's. XP's Oswin makes mine cry itself to sleep but that's okay, I don't plan to use Oswin as a general anyway - his low movement really kills the way I handle S-ranks.

Rebecca
Level 5 EXP 8
HP: 20
STR: 6
SKL: 8
SPD: 10
Luck: 4
DEF: 4
RES: 2
Weapon Rank(s): Bows - D
Support(s): None

Comments: There is nothing to be really said about Rebecca. She has and always will be a really, really bad unit. She's really competing with Wil here for shitty stats though.

Dart
Level 9 EXP 45
HP: 35
STR: 12
SKL: 8
SPD: 9
Luck: 3
DEF: 7
RES: 1
Weapon Rank(s): Axes - B
Support(s): None

Comments: Dart joins Bartre and Dorcas in the game of "swap the lowest level axe users to gain silly amounts of experience."

Legault
Level 12 EXP 0
HP: 29
STR: 9
SKL: 13
SPD: 17
Luck: 10
DEF: 8
RES: 3
Weapon Rank(s): Swords - C
Support(s): None

Comments: XP's is just strictly better than mine at the moment. With 8 levels I think the Hurricane (the real Hurricane, not the Mistranslationcane) will end up better than even Matthew!

Chapter 21: New Resolve

Turn Limit: 9
Minimum Experience: 1,200
Funds: 29,000

Deployment: Hector, Eliwood, Dart, Raven, Serra, Priscilla, Legault, Fiora

Turn 1: Ninian joins the team. Fiora nabs a Light Rune from the village and Eliwood gets a Restore from the other one. Priscilla sells a blue gem and buys 2 heals, a mend, and a thunder from the vendor with her silver card. Hector and Raven advance and Ninian dances Raven forward more. Legault strikes down a monk and Dart heads east. Raven kills 3 pegasus knights and 1 wyvern knight on the counter, gaining hp/str/def, and weakening another wyvern knight.

Turn 2: Eliwood kills a monk. Dart lowers a pegasus knight to 4 hp, Ninian dances Dart so Dart can stomp it. Raven backs off to get healed by Serra since his Lancereaver broke, and Hector donates him an Emblem Seal. We successfully tank all attacks.

Turn 3: Fiora stabs a wyvern knight with her killer lance to weaken it. Dart kills it, gaining speed. Priscilla advances and Ninian dances for her, and she heals Fiora. Raven takes out a wyvern knight and Serra heals him. Hector kills a wyvern knight, Legault runs east. Raven kills a brigand on the counter, gaining hp/str/skill/speed/luck/def. Hector kills a monk getting hp/skill/luck.

Turn 4: Eliwood stabs a monk to death with his rapier. Hector kills another one. Dart kills a third. Raven kills an archer. Priscilla heals Hector, Fiora visits a village for a wyrmslayer. Serra heals Dart, Ninian dances for Priscilla, and Priscilla heals Hector again.

Turn 5: Fiora kills a monk with her killer lance. Priscilla heals Raven and levels, gaining magic/speed/luck. Dart runs forward and hits a brigand with his hand axe while Hector finishes him off with his own. Ninian dances for Hector who runs onto the nearby forest to draw out Oleg. Serra heals Legault. Oleg pops out and whiffs Hector thankfully.

Turn 6: Fiora visits the nearby village for an Elysian Whip. Legault kills a brigand, gaining hp/speed/luck/def/res. Hector kills a monk. Dart kills another monk. Serra heals Raven. Priscilla heals Dart. Raven runs over and smacks Oleg twice with steel sword. Ninian dances for him, and Raven finishes off Oleg, who has a 0% hit rate with Raven's iron sword. I win. Raven gains hp/str/def/res.

EDIT: I decided to redo this chapter since it was so easy anyway in preparation for Genesis. I took the same amount of turns (could have done 5 if I'd managed to critical with Killing Edge but the extra experience is nice anyway). I stole the Hero Crest this time and had Priscilla buy a shitload of iron weapons and 3 Pure Waters. Yay!

Difficulty: 1/10 - What in the fuck just happened? Every enemy here is wretched, wielding poison weapons of uselessness or are monks with terrible magic ability, and visiting every village with Fiora is child's play. I think the monks are the most threatening part of this shit. Oleg himself was a little surprising but thankfully missed Hector entirely so fuck him, Raven absolutely demolished the retard. I think this is the absolute easiest chapter in the entire Hector Hard Mode so far. The only thing I missed was buying a shitload of iron weapons, but I can do that later anyway. I missed Oleg's Hero Crest here but really don't care either way since I can just use the one I already have on Raven.
Turns taken so far/Turns allowed: 138/128
Look at it this way:

at least yours will probably beat xp's.

Well, Sain was literally my only good unit. (Or at least it felt like that sometimes.) So uh.

That chapter gets exponentially harder the longer you stick around, because the wyvern reinforcements JUST. KEEP. COMING. If you rush the boss, then yeah, there's nothing really difficult there.

And for me personally, I didn't have any magic users or archers (except Serra I guess was promoted by now), and the majority of my team were sword users, so the wyverns actually were sort of a problem.
Assorted updates:

-I've been playing Fire Emblem 4. I just finished Chapter 3, which, considering how chapters work in FE4, is probably about the equivalent of Chapter ~10 in regular FE game. (There are 12 chapters in FE4, and each one has multiple castles to seize.) I've put it on hold lately though, because the pairings I was trying to get aren't gonna happen and I'm trying to figure out how best to damage control it.

-With DKC Returns finished, I'm going back to Kirby's Epic Yarn, which shouldn't take TOO much longer to finish, at which point I'm probably start Tales of the Abyss. It will largely depend on how school's going though, in regard to workload.

-Fire Emblem 8 Eirika Hard Mode is something I've mostly been playing at school, in down time between classes. I gave the desert chapter one try at home and stupidly let Ephraim get killed by a couple of Rangers. I didn't think they could double him. Or inflict non-trivial damage. So I basically just underestimated them all around. silly me. So that's where I stand on that.

-I've been playing Professor Layton & the Curious Village in small chunks, usually 1-3 puzzles before stopping. I love the production values; the opening cutscene really made me feel like I was watching some animated movie from, say, Miyazaki or Disney or some such. The voice acting is a bit... off, though - for a long time I thought Luke was saying "Legions of britches saves the day!"

So far (and I'm really not very far into the game at all), it really reminds of these old puzzle books I used to do as a kid. I'm rather surprised - and pleased, actually - that the series is as well-liked as it is. It's the kind of thing I can imagine gaming in general dismissing as not enough of a "game", whatever that means.

-If you have really any current gen Pokemon game, now would be an excellent time to connect to Nintendo WFC and pick up a Shiny Raikou. There are only a few days left for it - on the 14th, they'll start distributing Entei instead, and on the 21st, Suicune. If you already got them from GameStop, I don't think you can get them again, but if, like me, you don't go to GameStop just to download virtual quadrupeds, now's your chance.

Beat Kirby's Epic Yarn.
That final world was great. Boss fights against Whispy Woods and Kracko, in addition to the regular boss? So awesome, even if Kracko wasn't his usual self.

The final boss was very silly.
Chapter 22: Kinship's Bond

Turn Limit: 11
Minimum Experience: 1,700
Funds: 45,000

Deployment: Hector, Eliwood, Lyn, Kent, Sain, Priscilla, Serra, Lucius, Lowen, Legault, Ninian. Sain gets the emblem seal and Legault has all his weapons taken from him.

Turn 1: Legault runs max west to be between the two knights. Sain runs in front of a knight and Ninian dances for him, and he goes onto the pillar to the southeast with an iron sword. Eliwood goes southwest as does Lowen. Lyn runs behind a knight as does Priscilla and Serra. Isadora goes over to Merlinus to give up her items and take an iron sword/axe/lance and a hand axe and javelin. Sain kills a few units on the enemy phase.

Turn 2: Lowen clears out the swordreaver fighter and gives Legault the chance to steal the thief's lockpick. Even if Legault is smacked by both Heath and the thunder mage, he will not die, so no worries. It's important that he lacks a sword or the other swordreaver will come mess him up. Instead he now flings himself helplessly at Lowen and dies. Eliwood weakens a wyvern knight and Lucius kills it. Ninian dances and Lucius kills the knight beside him. Isadora kills the other knight, Lyn takes down a nomad, and Kent blocks the eastern passage with an iron lance, wounding a nomad. Sain kills the armorslayer guy. Priscilla and Serra begin healing.

Turn 3: I am now set up to recruit Heath and get Rath within a turn or two. Heath blocks the western passage and Lucius goes to work on weakened units while Legault pilfers chests.

From here on out you'll want to deal with the billion monks coming at you from the south. Eliwood and Lowen can soon help with that. I have Priscilla go west to help heal Heath for exp and Ninian as well so Priscilla can grind it up. Be careful with Serra because if you need her to dodge 40% shots at least once where only both are lethal, she will never dodge both.

I defeated Eubans on turn 10 with Hector's iron axe, which cut this chapter short. Hector is level 18 now, Eliwood and Lyn are 13. We should be seeing Linus's chapter soon, I hope. Sain gained 2 levels, Priscilla gained 2 levels, Serra gained a level, Kent gained a level. Lucius gained 3 levels, Heath gained 2 levels, Ninian gained a level, and Rath gained 2 levels.

Difficulty: 5/10 - The first few turns are the hardest, really. The wave of monks can really get annoying, but Sain should be able to ward them off. The reaver enemies are all just really silly overall. Eubans is one of the easiest paladins I've had to fight, but he can be kind of scary after going through all that with his 1-3% critical threat chances. Sain by this point was able to double him to put him in range for Hector, so he was easy pickings. Be sure to take him down because he drops a Knight Crest (and he's a smug bastard, he really deserves to die).
Turns taken so far/Turns allowed: 148/139
IIRC, you need their combined levels to be 50 or higher for that, so in the next two chapters you'll need to get 6 more levels.

Chapter 23: Living Legend

Turn Limit: 9
Minimum Experience: 1,200
Funds: 111,000

Deployment: Hector, Eliwood, Canas, Erk, Legault, Fiora, Heath, Serra. Eliwood gets the Emblem Seal. Give Serra the Torch Staff, Physic, and such. I forgot to mention that last chapter I bought a Torch Staff, 2 Barriers, a Chest Key, and 2 Physics. I'm having trouble recalling what happened much after turn 4 or so so bear with me.

Turn 1: Legault nabs the Ocean Seal to the right of Merlinus. Heath grabs him and flies up a square and then Fiora drops him off to the left. Eliwood goes two spaces left and equips a 1-use Lancereaver at the top and then a Killing Edge for slot 2. Canas kills a knight and levels, and Erk kills another knight. Hector goes 1 space north of Merlinus and Serra goes full north and uses a Torch staff to light up Jasmine and Paul's position. Eliwood is engaged by a wyvern knight and weakens it, and then a 2nd one whom he criticals to kill. Canas is attacked by an archer who misses, and Serra is shot and and slashed at but both miss.

Turn 2: Canas uses Flux to take down the archer. Hector talks to Hawkeye. Eliwood stabs a mage to death, Erk runs west to kill the only brigand on this map (what kind of bandits are these anyway), and Hawkeye smashes an archer to death. Heath takes out the remaining wyvern knight and Legault goes to work on Paul with his killing edge. I don't recall what I had Heath do this turn. Paul gets criticaled and dies to Legault, Canas is shot but because he has Flux on he's not doubled, and Legault is blasted by Elfire but dodges a lethal Thunder.

Turn 3: Legault steals the Elfire Mage's Guiding Ring and then Fiora kills him. Canas finishes off the nomad and Hawkeye works on the cavalier that came by, whom Erk finishes. The rest of the crew take down as many anima users as they can. Fiora reduces an archer to 1 hp because of no criticals but the archer thankfully misses her anyway.

Turn 4: Serra heals more people as Heath and Fiora take down the archers. Legault goes north to draw out Jasmine.

Turn 5: Heath flies west and nabs a Body Ring. Legault steals Jasmine's White Gem. Fiora flies a bit north of him. A wyvern knight comes out and demolishes Fiora to like 2 hp so lol. Heath kills stuff but gets lowered to 5 hp by a shaman.

Turn 6: Heath is healed by Serra and Erk blows up the wyvern knight that attacked Fiora. Fiora uses an elixir from Serra and goes southwest. Legault goes to work on Jasmine while Eliwood kills the longbow archer.

Turn 7: Heath flies north and nabs an Eclipse. Fiora flies west a bit. Legault continues to work on Jasmine and gets hit once but not lethally. Jasmine dies.

Turn 8: Legault runs west and Heath goes to another item spot but gets nothing.

Turn 9: Fiora goes to work on the two shamans left.

Turn 10: Legault finds a Filla's Might.

My combined levels for the lords is now 45. Let's hope Lyn and Hector can get 5 more in Genesis.

*Checks the map for Genesis*

Yeah I don't think that'll be an issue.

Difficulty: 9/10 - Fuck this fucking chapter. From the start you are swarmed by a bunch of enemies who are out to shoot down your fliers or use anima tomes on you. If you live to see turn 3, you have to fly in the dark and hope you nail the 1/11 chances to grab items, because you simply don't have time to ferry Legault around. Legault is too busy stealing that White Gem from Jasmine. The only thing going in your favour is that 700 experience is an absolute joke to get since your units are so underleveled.
Turns taken so far/Turns allowed: 158/148

You ever get that feeling that when you have to land a critical Killer Lance against a Luna Druid on turn 1 that you might just want to kill yourself?

Or how about being in a room of promoted enemies when none of yours are promoted except a strange man in a loincloth and having to rush the most dangerous chapter with all of them.

god dammit

You could always early promote some of your guys. I mean, I doubt anyone's going to reach level 20/20... then again, I don't know how much an early promotion would hurt your EXP rank.

...

why are you doing this to yourself.

Personally, I would not be surprised if HHM Genesis gave a hidden +50% hit and critical rate to every enemy on the field.

...It would explain so much. >_>
