[Spoiler for Dissidia: Final Fantasy, click to show]Playing in the third colosseum some more, I was kicked out at level 96. My next entrance, I finally got Ultimecia to level 100. What a bunch of garbage. I hate using her. She died for me more than anyone else in the process of leveling to 100.

FEBRUARY 7th

[Spoiler for Dissidia: Final Fantasy, click to show]I went to the second colosseum with Gabranth. He started at 34 and was in his fifties when my battery ran out. I got him to 65 before switching to the third colosseum, which was where I stayed to get him to level 100.

That left only Shantotto to get to 100. Since I hate her with a fiery passion, I went instantly to Lunar Whale. If you hit an enemy with an HP attack, you get experience. My plan was to hit the enemy a couple of times while staying out of range, and when I would inevitably screw up, I would level up but take a loss. Yes I hate her to the point I don't want to win fights with her. So I started at level 1 and got to 100 with the following... (Note that my PSP died at level 54, in case you thought it'd actually survive through all this.)

Wins: 26
Losses: 20
Colosseum Kicks: 6

I also got the accomplishments Battle 'Em All, On The Level, and A Single Answer.

FEBRUARY 8th

[Spoiler for Dissidia: Final Fantasy, click to show]With everyone now at level 100, I wanted to try Lunar Whale again for the last accomplishment it had. I used Zidane, picked the lowest strength opponents I could, and hoarded Knight Cards. Knight Cards extend your hand, but you lose that effect when losing a battle. So having three of them basically gives you three free losses before your hand starts to get deducted.

I did lose quite a bit, but I never got kicked from the colosseum. I managed to get 109 fights done before quitting to get the accomplishment, Veteran Duelist. I also got to buy a good amount of items including a Blue Moon, which is a nice item that Zidane can use.

FEBRUARY 9th

[Spoiler for Dissidia: Final Fantasy, click to show]I started off using Squall in the first colosseum to get some Dusty Elixirs. When Chaos came up, I'd give him a Diamond Ring to get about 90 AP from him each fight. This also got me the accomplishment Bull in a China Shop. Once I finally had enough materials to buy what I wanted, I left.

I finally decided to play Inward Chaos, the last story mode. This only has one chapter, but with five parts. You have to fight each character once, with their levels varying from 92-110. On the first map, there's a Moogle to encounter as well. When I met him with Zidane, he gave me the summonstone Moogle. I also got the summonstone Ultima Weapon from the first map as my bonus item. The second map had a summonstone to encounter, and I got it to receive Omega. That got me the accomplishment Tamer of the Gods and put a star next to Summons in the museum. I also got the accomplishment Productive Battling at some point during all this. On the third map, I got a Mallet as my bonus item, which unlocked a bunch of machine items.

I lost to Terra once because she cheated me with tornado spamming (I literally could not move from the ceiling while she kept using it). I also wound up retrying fighting Sephiroth six times because he kept breaking me by being atrociously overpowered. Everyone else was easy, until reaching Chaos.

At Chaos, I equipped the following breakable items: Phoenix Pinion, Diamond Ring, Arcane Resin, Valor Resin, and Valor Incense. Despite all this, I lost nine times before finally beating him. What a load of garbage. I hate Shinryu for using Omega so often on me.

After this, I got to have this little convo with Epy:

Celtic7Guardian (3:21:52 PM): "You, the god of creation... the Great Will..."

animeownsall (3:22:23 PM): So

You are the Great Will that binds the Dissidia characters back for conflict over and over

TO STOP THE CONFLICT

YOU NEED TO STOP PLAYING FF

animeownsall (3:22:26 PM): NICE MESSAGE SQUARE

Summary of why this story mode was lolworthy for story. Anyhow, with Inward Chaos beaten, I was able to buy the Blackjack Course and Genji Gear for the shop with my PP. I also got the accomplishment The Day the World Ended.

Since I only had two more cutscenes to get in the game, I decided to go ahead with that after my PSP recharged. You need to meet the Moogle with a Chaos character for one, so I used Jecht to do that. The other was that you need to meet the Moogle with Terra. I managed to do that too, but remind me to never fight Warrior of Light with Terra again. I had to retry him eleven times because of all the **** that would happen. At least her scene with the Moogle is adorable. Both times he gave me 300 PP.

Now that the Theater option in the museum had a star next to it, I went ahead and bought Unlock All Cutscenes from the PP catalog. That caused the PP catalog to be maxed at 100%.

FEBRUARY 10th

[Spoiler for Dissidia: Final Fantasy, click to show]I decided to pick up some items in the Lunar Whale course. I used Zidane and got through thirty-nine fights before being kicked out.

It was about this time that Epyon recommended I start putting in passwords. These passwords came from Square's website and unlock items, friend icons, and ghosts to fight. (Note that the friend icons literally cannot be gotten any other way, but they are not necessary for 100% completion due to not actually being numbered like the others.) I failed miserably on GameFAQs and tried putting in the Europe passwords for like ten minutes before I realized it said Europe and I wanted North America. Hurrrrrrrrr! =D

The first password unlocked a level 74 Emperor ghost (Behemoth friend card). I battlegen'd a Cyan Gem from him to get the accomplishment The Azure Soul. That same battle also got me the accomplishment Earth-Unfriendly.

The second was a level 52 Cloud of Darkness (Ahriman). Nothing special there. The third was a level 100 Jecht (Auron). I also got a couple of recipes since I had input five of the passwords total.
</spoiler>

[Spoiler for Symphony of the Night, click to show]I got a fire boomerang while still in the Inverted Castle Entrance. I hit level thirty-seven before going towards the Alchemy Lab. Unfortunately, I met another stupid death when a Nova Skeleton's beam WENT THROUGH A WALL TO HIT ME when I fell down from above. How does that even... Making it successfully to the save point this time, I got an antivenom and hammer nearby, along with a heart max up.

The Inverted Alchemy Lab had a resist dark and manna prism, and later on a Turquoise. That was all I had time to get before running into the boss, Beelzebub. This guy has an incredibly gross design, being the lord of flies and a hanging corpse. He was also very easy though. I simply went to a high ledge and began to throw axes. Occasionally a fly would hit me, but for the most part he didn't do damage. When I had about sixty hearts left (out of over two hundred), he finally died. I hit level thirty-nine and got a life max up from him. I love the axe subweapon.

The rest of this area was simple enough to explore. I got a Ring of Arcana, a Goddess Shield (equipped it), a life max up, and a heart max up behind a wall. Then I went to the next section.

The Inverted Royal Chapel had a heart max up in the first room. I've been getting a lot of max ups recently, not that I'd complain. The huge staircase room had a lot of snipers of goth and archers to pester me, but it also had a ton of items: a Zircon, heart max up, shuriken, TNT, Diamond, boomerang, javelin, and a fire boomerang. I ducked into the Inverse Colosseum briefly to save before continuing. The first tower had a smart potion, life max up, and manna prism. I used the Spike Breaker in the spiked hallway to get a Twilight Cloak, which I equipped. I reached the boss, Medusa, shortly after. Putting on the Mirror Cuirass to protect against petrification made her a total joke. Once she died, I got the Heart of Vlad.

Backtracking a bit, I got a magic missile and bwaka knife in the third tower, and a Talwar in the second. Then my PSP died. As usual.

FEBRUARY 11th

[Spoiler for Symphony of the Night, click to show]The next location to visit was the Inverse Colosseum, which has one of the creepiest songs IMO. I did a detailed search while fighting minotaurs, werewolves, and white dragons to find a heart max up, life max up, heart max up, Aquamarine, Gram, buffalo star, and Zircon. With that done, I fought the bosses. They were three zombies that took the forms of Trevor, Grant, and Sypha from Castlevania III. Sypha was annoying since she could freeze Alucard, so I killed her first, and then Trevor. Grant was easy to deal with after that. I got a life max up from them.

This connected directly to the Inverse Olrox's Quarters, so I went there next and hit level forty-one from killing a sword guy. I got a shield potion, luck potion, and manna prism from the long bat passageway, and then an Aquamarine and life max up outside. I also found the Alucard Mail at last, sitting in an abandoned room attached to the outdoor area, so that went on at once. After getting a shuriken, I fought the boss, a mummy with a weird name that I can't spell. For some reason, I couldn't hurt him at all. It baffled me then, but I'm wondering now if he's immune to poison, because I had my poison sword on then. In any case, I just tossed axes until he died and got the Rib of Vlad.

To finish exploring the area, I got a heart max up, and then a high potion, Sword of Hador, and Opal in a hidden room. When leaving to enter the big clock room, I used a stopwatch subweapon I had picked up to cause the other statue to move. That allowed me to get a resist fire, resist thunder, resist holy, and resist dark.

The Inverse Underground Caverns were next. I fought the boss first, Doppelganger40. He was pretty sad, I just beat on him and ignored his one damage hits. I got a life max up for that. Beyond him was a Zircon, a pot roast, a Dark Blade, and a ton of Dark Octopuses. Seriously did I walk into their breeding grounds?

After destroying the ice floor/now ceiling, I went through the water portion (weird to see water just sitting on the ceiling) to get a manna prism, elixir, and the relic Force of Echo, which allows the bat's echo to kill enemies. It's actually more useful than it sounds. Also, it's impossible to just jump to the ceiling to record these rooms completely on your map. I had to turn into a wolf and hold down triangle to swim right up to the ceiling, which finally counted it as a visited area.

Going on, I found a shiitake, heart max up, potion, life max up, bat pentagram, Garnet, shiitake, toadstool, Osafune Katana, and shiitake. I also found the Alucard Shield, which breaks the game along with the Shield Rod. But I don't abuse that much. Only in two parts did I use it, and I'll note those when I get to them. I also got to level forty-two from killing a blue venus rose.

Back at the Inverse Castle Entrance, I went through the wolf/bat path to open the hidden room and get a Zircon, Opal, and Beryl Circlet. The Beryl Circlet absorbs lightning, which is great for a certain boss. Otherwise, not too useful. I then headed to the Inverse Mine Entrance.

Waiting in Cerberus' former room was Death. He told Alucard to stop screwing around, Alucard said no, Death attacked him and died horribly. Both his forms suck. That got me to level forty-four and gave me the Eyeball of Vlad, which is the fifth and final part of Dracula that I need to complete the game. That had to wait though, since there was more to explore.

I summoned the Demon familiar to hit the switch nearby, which got me green tea in a wall, with power of sire and a life apple behind it. Going further on, I got a shiitake, shiitake, and power of sire. I also found the Alucard Sword, the last part of the set.

The Inverse Catacombs has creepy music as well. I hate fighting the witches here, they have a tendency to block your attacks, but everything other enemy was simple enough. Again, many items: magic missile, buffalo star in a wall, resist fire, resist thunder, karma coin, karma coin, red bean bun, elixir, library card in a wall, life max up, heart max up, shield potion, attack potion, Necklace of J in a hidden room, and a Diamond. I saved before going to fight the boss.

FEBRUARY 11th CONTINUED

[Spoiler for Symphony of the Night, click to show]This guy is optional for a good reason. He has a ton of HP and if you don't have the Beryl Circlet, his electricity attack hurts a lot. I fought him for a while, and it was simple, but he was barely taking any damage from me. When I had established that neither of us would die anytime soon, I just equipped the Shield Rod and Alucard Shield and used its combination. That allows Alucard to walk into enemies with his shield out to hurt them and get health back. Used that and he died in about ten seconds. Much, much quicker. I hit level forty-seven and got a life max up from him, and the rooms behind him had a heart max up, life max up, Ruby Circlet, and the relic Gas Cloud, which allows your mist form to hurt enemies.

On they way out, I hit level forty-eight from a frozen half. Then I filled out the rest of the Inverse Clock Tower. I got a karma coin, magic missile, strength potion, Luminous, and smart potion. I also figured out that there are four gears you have to hit to unlock a room, not two, and that room had a Diamond, life apple, and sunstone.

At this point, I returned to the regular castle to map out some areas I had missed. I got one square in the Underground Caverns, and then a room in the Catacombs that had a Bloodstone, and a Cat-Eye Circlet in a wall. Then I went to the librarian to buy Magic Scrolls 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. I got a stopwatch from a candle to get past the statue in the big clock room and got the Alucart Shield, Alucart Mail, Alucart Sword, and a heart max up. I got a relic, the N Demon Card, in a hidden area of the Colosseum (it's through a roof), and then opened the gear door in the Clock Tower for a Steel Helm, Gold Plate, and Star Flail.

Back at the inverse castle, I got a Fury Plate in the hidden area in the Inverse Colosseum. With that done, I headed towards the big clock room. I hit level forty-nine on the way from a Guardian. In the clock room, the floor/now a ceiling opened since I had Dracula's five body parts... or four body parts and one jewelry piece. I got a Heart Refresh in one room and used the save point before going on.

Waiting in the cubical room was Shaft. He shows how stupid he is again by saying that his plan with Richter was to possess him for the purpose of fighting and killing all the other vampire hunters to come. Dude, have you EVER seen two holy users fighting each other? That would last a decade. Maybe if you stopped sucking you could kill these guys yourself. But the fact is, he still sucks, because I killed him in about ten seconds.

With Shaft gone, Alucard got teleported to a dark realm to meet with Dracula. After Alucard said he was going to take down Dracula in his mother's name, Dracula transformed to fight. So what did I do? Hit him once and then used a library card. Yep. That's the only way you can record him in the enemy list, so it had to be done. I arrived at the librarian and bought another card to replace the one used.

Rather than go back right away, I decided to pick up the last relic that I lacked. Epyon told me that it was located in a hidden room below where Olrox was fought, so I went there and got the Fairy Card. Then I went to the inverse version of that room to get a Heart Refresh.

My map was at 199.6% at that point. The max for Alucard, I believe, is 200.6%. Not bad.

[Spoiler for Dissidia: Final Fantasy, click to show]I fought the ghost Emperor with Zidane and got my Mognet letter. It was very fruitful.

[Spoiler for Dissidia: Final Fantasy, click to show]I put in five more passwords. One was a Sephiroth ghost (Cait Sith) that took eleven bloody tries to get the item I most wanted from him. [Spoiler for SotN, click to show]Yeah, apparently this is a new fight. Maria throws kitty cats, doves, dragons, and can cause a lot of fire to come out towards you. She probably has her turtle to complete the set but I don't think I saw it in use. She's not really hard, but all of the stuff she throws can be chaotic. Since she was a new fight, I also lacked the advantage of knowing what to expect, unlike every other boss in the game.

what the new boss fight

must play this game now

(As an aside, you've probably figured this out, but Maria's attacks correspond to the Four Symbols: the dragon is Azure Dragon/Seiryuu, the turtle is Black Turtle/Genbu, the kitty is White Tiger/Byakko, and the dove is Vermilion Bird/Suzaku.)

The boss that waited nearby was a crow man of sorts, Karasuman IIRC. Hard to decide whether he or the Succubus is worse, considering he also died without me being hit.

Karasuman is far, far harder, tbqh.

Apparently the Wizard of Oz took over here, because I got to fight scarecrows, tin men, and lions.

...I never got this. Whoa.

Well, this is a slightly better plan than you might think. Remember that Trevor defeated Alucard, and each Belmont is stronger than all the previous Belmonts. And other hunters tend to be pretty awful compared to the Belmonts. So, in theory, Richter should have been able to kill everyone who came.

And today my PSP cover finally bit the dust. I really need a new, good one.

FEBRUARY 13th

[Spoiler for Dissidia: Final Fantasy, click to show]I put in five more passwords. Three were player icons and two were friend cards. One was a level 100 Gabranth (Basch) and the other was a low-end Garland (Death Machine). Didn't get anything really special from them.

[Spoiler for Symphony of the Night, click to show]I decided to beat the game today. Going back to the cubical room led me to fight Shaft again, not that it mattered because he still sucks. Then I fought Dracula. He's quite easy, but he just refused to die. Hit hit hit hit hit but still alive. I finally got impatient, busted out the Shield Rod and Alucard Shield, sat next to him with the shield for two seconds, victory. What's with giving easy bosses a ton of HP? It doesn't make them difficult, just tedious.

Dracula asks Alucard what Lisa's last words were, and he said they were to not hate humans, and that she would love him (Dracula) for eternity. Awww. Almost makes you feel bad for the blood-sucking monstrosity. Dracula asks her to forgive him before exploding. And then the castle crumbles. Yay!

Alucard meets with Maria and Richter after. Richter apologizes for his weakness, saying that it was because of that that Alucard had to fight his father. Alucard insists he had reasons as well, even if it was not easy. Then he says that to get rid of his cursed blood, he should vanish, and runs off. Maria starts to follow, hesitates, and Richter tells her to go ahead, so she goes to stop him. Credits!

So what's left? A lot of alternate modes (Richter, Maria, and Axe Armor I think), a percent of the map I missed, one enemy I didn't record yet, and a bunch of enemy drops.

Enemies I Need A Drop From:

Celtic7Guardian: Bye Shaft. Again.
Bye Dracula.
Bye castle.
Alucard: Wheeeeeeee
Richter: Go Maria go
Maria: kk *Runs after him*
CG: I BEAT A GAME YAY

February 14th update. Didn't do much special for the holiday, but...

[Spoiler for Dissidia: Final Fantasy, click to show]I put in five more passwords, all for friend cards. First I fought a level 24 Squall (Laguna), and then a level 100 Bartz (Gilgamesh). The level 100 Zidane (Steiner) was a bit difficult, but I battlegen'd a Green Gem for the accomplishment The Viridian Soul. The level 100 Terra (Ultros) was a huge pain, but after two losses I got her, and I lost once to the level 100 Golbez (Fusoya) before winning and battlegenning a Yellow Gem, getting the accomplishment The Canary Soul.

[Spoiler for Dissidia: Final Fantasy, click to show]Five more passwords. I got Gemini Recipe, two player icons, Leo Recipe, and Libra Recipe.

Since I had no new enemies to fight, I decided to face the Stilzkin friend cards I had been getting. First was a level 45 Exdeath, who I got a White Drop from on my second try. The second card had a level 45 Onion Knight. The third was a level 38 Cecil that I got a Blue Drop and Blue Gem from. That got me the accomplishment The Cerulean Soul. The fourth had a level 31 Bartz, and the fifth a level 38 Golbez. The sixth was a level 24 Garland, the seventh a level 24 Warrior of Light, and the eighth a level 24 Cloud of Darkness that I got a Red Drop and Red Gem from. I got Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth today. Can't wait to get started on it, but since I had a psychology test to study for, that wasn't happening today.

[Spoiler for Dissidia: Final Fantasy, click to show]I put in five more passwords. One was a player icon while the other four were friend cards. I still have these sixteen left:

35: Artful Dodger: Dodge 5,000 attacks.

For February 17th.

[Spoiler for Dissidia: Final Fantasy, click to show]Screw spending more days putting in passwords, I finished them all up. Twelve were put in, with five being recipes and seven being friend cards. First was a level 94 Cecil (Red Wing Ace), and then a level 100 Ultimecia (Seifer). The level 31 Shantotto (Shantotto) that came after died terribly. Then there was a level 100 Kefka (Siegfried), level 100 Kuja (Vivi), level 100 Tidus (Wakka), and a level 45 Cloud (Yuffie).

With all of them having been fought and beaten, I decided to put in the recipe passwords a second time. Now that I have two copies of each, I can use one to make their items and keep one for inventory purposes. I then refought several of the friend cards to get their unique items. While doing so, I battlegen'd a White Gem from Kuja, which gave me the accomplishment The Ivory Soul.

Fifteen accomplishments left. I'll probably hit up the Lunar Whale course soon for some more items.

If I'm right, the odds of "missing" 1501 in a row beforehand is approximately 0.28%.

Which is to say considerably lower than the chances of getting it on the first try which sits at 0.39%.

More specifically, the odds of this only occurring once in 1502 attempts should be...

1502 * (1/256) * (255/256)^1501 which is = to approximately .0165 or 1.65%

However, I should note that doesn't care about where that success occurs.

If we wanted to find the probability that the first success would be the 1502nd attempt...

Well, that's... (1/256) * (255/256)^1501 = 1.0974 * 10^-5 = .000010974 = 0.0010974% or roughly 0.0011%.

...Unless I mixed up a probability formula at some point.

Dedication to completion! And those statistics really depress me. >_>

[Spoiler for Dissidia: Final Fantasy, click to show]Did some more ghost fights for items I needed. I only have two more items to buy, which need three different components.

Needing a break from that, I dropped by the Lunar Whale colosseum to grab some other components I needed. Did pretty well, I'm up to fight ninety now but the PSP ran out of juice.

February 19th update, for what it is worth.

[Spoiler for Dissidia: Final Fantasy, click to show]I left Lunar Whale after 108 matches to do some matches in the first colosseum with Firion for materials. I left with him after match 44 and went back to Lunar Whale. I've been getting a lot of items, but there isn't much to talk about when it comes to that.

[Spoiler for Dissidia: Final Fantasy, click to show]Did more Lunar Whale and got my shop percentage to 99% from getting a Pink Tail and exchanging it for Adamantine. Hurray. >_>

February 21st update. I spent most of my game time playing the demo for Lunar: Silver Star Harmony. Since I got through it and saved my data, I should be getting something from the actual game once I own it.

[Spoiler for Dissidia: Final Fantasy, click to show]Got to match 132 in Lunar Whale before stopping, and then decided to start it up again after the demo was done.

February 24th update.

[Spoiler for Dissidia: Final Fantasy, click to show]I left the Lunar Whale course at match 102. Since I have been dying to start it for some time now, I also got around to Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth. I'll write about that tomorrow though since I'm in a time crunch now.

March 5th:

So, instead of doing the write-ups that I should be, I decided to play Scribblenauts today. That plan got screwed royally over by my DS saying I hadn't inserted a card into it though. So apparently it's faulty. Just great. I'm going to have to spend $30 on another copy it seems. -_-

Since that way royally messed up, I decided to play some Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box instead.

[Spoiler for Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box, click to show]This isn't really a game that makes for good in-depth write-ups, so I'm going to try Kenri's bullet point method. Doubt I can pull it off as well as he can but it should be easier for this.

*Hey, a fully animated video! Luke sounds like a twit, Layton sounds strangely deep, and Flora doesn't talk. Oh, I'm sorry, not Flora, the 'mysteriously hooded girl' that follows them onto a train.

*Luke mentions the Elysian Box, which apparently kills anyone who opens it. Then he sends a letter to me speaking about it. Hello player interaction?

**Prologue: The Elysian Box

*A few days before our glorious cutscene, Layton got a letter from his friend and mentor, Andrew Schrader, who is old and wanted to open the box. So yeah he's doomed.

*Since it was sent two days ago, Layton decides he and Luke should drive over in the Laytonmobile. (Okay they don't call it that in here but it was called that in the first game!)

"Luke tap the touch screen to find my keys." Thank you obvious tutorial.

*Once outside, we find Andrew is a jerk because instead of just giving Layton the map to his place, he had to cut it up and leave it to be pieced together. First puzzle and it's as simple as it sounds. Also Layton has a picture of a top hat on his door. Good taste.

*Upon arriving at apartment Andrew lives in, Layton realizes he was never told which flat to go to. So we use a puzzle with flags and windows and stuff, who cares that puzzle was lame.

*"Dude if you search mail boxes you can get hint coins for random puzzles people ask you. Cool huh?"

Sure I guess. Thanks random NPC.

*Once upstairs, Layton produces three keys that he was sent by Andrew. Luke can't get any to fit. Easy solution is easy: flip one of the keys around and put the handle in the lock instead.

*Animated burst-in scene! Andrew is lying on the floor dead. SHOCK AND AWE.

Layton finds a ticket in his hand for a train after some grieving.

*Once the police are contacted, in comes Inspector Chelmey. Luke proceeds to pull his face in multiple ways because the last villain we dealt with wore a mask to pretend to be Chelmey. Chelmey is very displeased.

"That's my face, not taffy!"

Hey, it was justified!

*So Kira must have visited because Chelmey claims Andrew died of a heart attack. A quick puzzle proves that the curtains were ripped and used as a get away for the apparent killer. Layton finds a torn photograph in Andrew's hand and gets it confiscated by Chelmey before getting booted. Boo!

It's interesting to note that Luke called himself Layton's apprentice. When Chelmey asked for confirmation, Layton said that wasn't quite true, but Luke stuck to it, and Layton did not protest. Hmmm.

*Since Chelmey sucks at his job we're going to ride a train.

**Chapter 1: The Legendary Molentary Express

*I learn about this point that hint coins are LOST FOREVER items and restart the game to make sure I don't miss any. Barely takes any time to get back here.

*At this point of the game you can find puzzles by examining suspect items. I look at Luke's suitcase and am tasked to get all of the items he had in proper order. This takes a surprisingly long amount of time for me and I want to boot Luke in the head for packing stupid stuff like a boomerang. Seriously WHY WOULD YOU PACK A BOOMERANG.

*Examining a tea set makes us realize ants have ruined the sugar for Layton's tea. This serious crime is addressed by providing an easy puzzle about the longest route an ant could take.

*I won't be able to recall every puzzle I do after this because a ton get thrown at you while looking around, but the ones that stood out to me I'll note.

*Exploring the nice train leads to a handful of hint coins that I won't bother detailing. One wonders why coins are hiding in lights, on random boards, or in boxes of food.

*Easy puzzle from an NPC about folding a paper and stuff. Didn't even have to think more than two seconds to get it.

*Seeing a pitcher causes Layton to ask Luke about where a person would put a pitcher of poison for a certain game. This made no sense, but there were only two answers so good luck messing that up.

*When Layton and Luke go to eat in the dining car, the waiter, Chester, gives us a puzzle to solve while waiting on the table. We have to figure out which woman is a certain person, it's really easy once the conditions are given and not worth explaining.

*A table is clear for us, but a snobby fat lady named Babette demands that she gets it first despite just walking in and sits down despite Chester trying to help us. We move on because she's a jerk.

*The chef in the kitchen has a fat hamster and asks us to take care of him so he can slim down. ...What the heck is this doing in my puzzle game? I name the hamster Harvey and get an apple to help him exercise in a mini game. Okay.

At least this brings up Luke's good abilities with animals again. This was mentioned in Curious Village but barely expanded on since the only animal there was a robotic cat. No joke.

*We get an easy puzzle about pancake plate switching from a girl in the hallway.

*Oh look a shack and a broomstick, Granny R's back! (She keeps puzzles you might have missed. So far I haven't missed any.)

*Nice sight from the back of the train. So of course we get a puzzle for that. It's a puzzle about splitting several different squares into similar groupings... Kind of hard to explain but they're not too difficult.

*Some litterbug left a crumpled piece of paper on the floor, so Layton gives me a sliding block puzzle. DARN IT LAYTON! (Those are my least favorite, they take me forever to complete. You have to get an object from one side of the board to the other by moving blocks around.)

*On the way to go eat, we run into a fancy-looking short guy named Beluga, who owns this railway. He is voice acted and the way he sounds and acts gives us three options: he's evil, he's a rich arrogant jerk, or he's a drueger. Suspicious lack of beard though.

*Back at the dining car, we finally get our meal. Beluga whines and moans about the food sucking and a painting being stupid looking. Layton gives a puzzle to Luke about coloring in certain sections of a piece of art and making sure none touch. A little tricky unless the memo is used. (You can bring up a rough draft screen of sorts to make notes on, it's very helpful.)

*Talking to Chester gives a simple mathematics puzzle about Luke eating enough food to cost $70 while Layton's only cost $35. Yikes.

*Looking at glasses gives a glass stacking puzzle. One is impossible because it would require a glass to have no rim. It makes sense in context.

*The chef gives Luke a puzzle about how many of a small triangle would fit in a big one. I've played Curious Village so four now get me new material.

*We find Babette demanding that Chelmey find her missing boy and then thrusts a tiny shoe at Layton and Luke. Called it right then and there: it's not her son like they think, it's a dog.

Since Chelmey hates us he gives us a silly mathematics puzzle involving a woman who spent fake money on shoes. Solving it makes him no more happy with us, so thanks for nothing.

*Because we need more things about shoes we are given a shoe maze. Actually kind of a clever puzzle that I liked, you have to alternate between left and right shoe squares to get through.

*Some conductor guy/helper named Sammy says he broke a camera he was borrowing, gives us one of the ten pieces, and says to put it together. Thanks for another minigame that I don't need!

He also gave me a puzzle about people getting off trains. This took me... about three seconds to solve, I'd guess. Yeah. (And this isn't saying I'm awesome at these puzzles, it's saying they're that easy.)

*Inside the kitchen is a cap that apparently belongs to the boy, Tom.

"Professor, we have no idea how this small child could be getting around like this and could potentially have fallen off the train, but this cap reminds me of a puzzle!"

You'd think they'd have higher priorities right now! Strange puzzle that speaks of kids getting balloons for certain caps being worn. It's simple to figure out with the actual description.

*While Babette is snoring away in her room, we find some crumbs on the floor and a puzzle from the vase. It's a black and white, and reversed, picture of flowers and a question as to which of the colored ones matches. Not hard with a careful eye.

*After talking to several people about where a missing boy could be and a random maze puzzle from a mechanic about animals escaping a zoo (only the lion would make it), we see Flor-the mysterious hooded girl with a dog in her arms. AND LAYTON STILL DOES NOT MAKE THE CONNECTION.

*An old couple says 'it' was so cute and gives us a puzzle that's similar to the game telephone. Hurrrr.

*Once we find another shoe, a puzzle is brought up. It's another sliding type but to make a picture, not get something to another location. I finish it to form Tom the dog's face with his cap.

*While looking for the girl and dog, a guy congratulates me for finishing twelve or more puzzles and gives me one about how much space clouds are taking up in a picture. A bit of reasoning with how the clouds and sky patterns look reveal the answer as a six to four ratio.

*We find the girl on the observation deck area. The dog jumps out of her arms and her hood gets blown off to reveal-HEY FLORA WHAT A SHOCK. She says she did not want to be left behind due to being lonely, and Layton simply says that she will have to be very careful since this trip could be dangerous instead of sending her back home. Yay Layton.

*We drop Tom off to Barbette and get... a toy house for our hamster to exercise with. What a great prize.

*Oh no the train broke down! Sammy is apparently Beluga's nephew and Beluga calls him several names, because a train being crashed in front of them is totally his fault. Layton figures out how to get the trains moving around each other with a puzzle and we move on.

*Apparently we are about to arrive at a location where we stop for maintenance.

**Chapter 2: The Country Village of Dropstone

*We have about three hours to explore the village. It is their 50th anniversary and a festival is going on. How convenient!

*A poster of a dramatic farewell via train gives a puzzle. The window would not be able to open like it is shown in the picture, and I got that right... for the wrong mental reasoning. Oh well, so long as I get it right first try, I'm happy.

*Have I mentioned that Layton has hilarious quotes when he gets a puzzle right? "A gentleman never leaves a puzzle unsolved!" should become a meme or something.

*Hey Beluga you're still a jerk. Apparently the train company he made is fifty years old now too.

*Okay tons of random puzzles here.

One is what could be made into cubes, one about an oddly-shaped axle, one about what arrow would be attached to a bag of candy, one about a golfer's number of strikes into a hole, one about distances between trees, one about a trapped bird going through a maze, one about how to wrap a piece of paper around flowers, one about a hidden message on a statue due to water, one about eliminating female portraits from a wheel, one about how many minimum votes a candidate would need to win a position for sure, one about when a man would wear a hat during the days of a week, one similar to the flower puzzle except with cats this time (and it was a pain, the difference was a small length in eyelashes), one about the amount of time it would take to transport horses, a sliding puzzle for baggage claim (HATE), one about a fishing net capturing an amount of fish, one about how many ropes would be tangled together in a knot, two in a row about cutting a board to form shapes, one about a shape not fitting in a cube, one about what colors houses would be, one about what sides of a dice would be where, and one about a king buying something that he wanted everyone else to own as well.

...WELL THEN. That was a lot more than I thought.

*The tree puzzle got me a hamster stump. I used the three hamster items to get Harvey from a level 5 fatness to level 4. He sounds really weird when talking.

*Helping the woman get her bird back from the maze caused her to give me the last minigame item, a tea set. She also gave me three ingredients: Oasis Leaf, Brisk Berry, and Belle Tart Seeds. I mixed them to make a good tea for Layton, and then mixed two Brisk Berries and an Oasis Leaf for Luke. That's two recipes down.

*While doing all this, we learn that there is a man named Mr. Anderson (hey that sounds familiar in another setting!) who has a daughter named Kaita that he is quite concerned about. She is planning to run away with the help of her servants (rich family and all that) to fulfill the wish of her late grandmother. Mr. Anderson might know something about the Elysian Box, but Chelmey is being unsuccessful at finding him.

*Back at the cow competition area, Luke talks to the five cows (he can apparently talk to the animals, didn't know his connection was that strong) and solves a puzzle about which are lying. Two cows got switched before the competition, and after they are straightened out... the guy who was NOT whining about the cows being switched wins. Yay!

*We solve a puzzle about which man is Mr. Anderson, and he speaks of his mother-in-law, who he valued like his real mother. She was researching the Elysian Box but died roughly a year ago. Aw.

*Also there was a puzzle about people wearing certain pieces of clothing, how exciting.

*On the way back to the train, we found a puzzle about people having a certain number of apples, but my DS battery died.

It lasted four hours. FOUR. HOURS. This is terrible.

One other thing I guess.
