Suffice to say I disagree with this - Gen 4 is one of the weaker generations Pokemon-wise, but it's not the worst.

In general, it's just a matter of looking at the listed stats. However, then you can throw in aptitude, which every character will have a % in for each stat. If a character has 80% aptitude in say, attack, that means that if you gave them a weapon with 10 attack, they only get 80% of it, or 8 points in attack.

It's not in front of me right now, but doesn't Laharl have like an A-rank in everything? But yeah, I just gave Laharl a sword, and Etna a lance. There's no point in trying to deal with multiple weapons, because as you use one type of weapon, it levels up that type, and as the rank of that goes up, you do more damage and such with that weapon. In the case of mages, you also get longer range and stuff by using staves.

Laharl, destroyer of worlds yessssssss....
Laharl is easily the best character I have right now. Easily. Although others get better once you level them up/give them good equipment so they can survive.

Yeah. On the plus side, you will get more EXP from the combined enemy, but otherwise, yeah. It's nothing I've ever really done as a serious tactic. I did combine a whole field of enemies into one like Level 190 enemy though and had Laharl take it down for fun. (Laharl was being ridiculously buffed by all my mages, and the field had a geo effect of "Invincibility" on every tile except one. Guess which one I threw the uber-enemy on and which one everyone else on my team was on?) But it seemed fairly time inefficient. Laharl levelled up from like 35 to 38 from that battle, and that just wasn't worth the effort.

Just the enemy who gets the kill. Although, if an enemy dies because of a team attack, the team attack participants get 50% EXP from it. I think. I don't really use team attacks anymore, so I can't say for sure.
If on the Bonus Meter you get "EXP + [Number]" for the battle, that whole number goes to your entire team, and isn't split up among them or anything, they all get that number.

Once you get Geo Chains under control, you can max the bonus guage with ease, which is effective for pretty much everything. You'll get tons of HL, usually tons of EXP for the team, provided you get some decent EXP bonuses, and usually a decent amount of items.

Yeah, it can be pretty intimidating at first, but it gets better. And that NPC wasn't lying, you really could get through the game without bothering to learn most of it. It helps, no doubt, but it isn't required.

I was actually just making a reference to how some people say "throws are cheap" (referring to fighting games). Similar to "tires don exits"/"tiers don't exist". <_<
But the Disgaea mechanic is good too! It's like Shove, only even better. >_>

Yeah, I figured this out shortly after typing that part of the post, when I did a Laharl/Etna/Prinny/Prinny team attack (entirely by accident) and everyone but Laharl leveled.

-Created a Cleric named Eclair because I was sorta told to. >_> And also because healers are (probably) useful.
-Okay yeah, Laharl has C in guns and a B in staves and an A in everything else. I guess it could be a change made to the DS version, though.
-Vyers Castle... Okay, a Prinny died during the first battle. GOOD THING THIS GAME DOESN'T HAVE PERMADEATH OR THAT WOULD BE DISTRESSING.

-Okay, now this next map, I like. Tight corridors with Geo Effects that give me +50% DEF and an extra attack? yesssss

-Is there any penalty for leaving after every map to get healed? o_O I mean, I don't know why there would be, it's just, it seems like it makes the game really easy. (But then, I'm on the first real level, so disregard that I guess.)

All I did was create a female monk named Sabrosa and go through the Practice map a few times to level up her and my Cleric, though.
I wouldn't even post about it, but I want to kill this topic. <_<
