Nah, it's easily overcome by will, that's of course IF you want to quit.

Denial is a symptom of addiction, you know.

Me: You have a problem.
You: No, I can quit any time I want.
Me: Then quit.
You: I don't want to.

'Round these parts we call that denial, partna.

So by not wanting to quit something I enjoy , I'm addicted to it?

When it's a drug, yes.

WoW isn't a drug, the only addicting quality it has is entertainment.

When it's a drug, yes.

This is characteristic of any addiction. For instance, I'm arguably addicted to carbonated drinks - particularly Pepsi, Martinelli's Sparkling Cider, and Orangina - despite my frequent tongue-in-cheek claims that I can go without any for an extended period of time. (And it's hard to keep up these claims when you go out and buy four 12-packs of Pepsi, two 26-packs of the cider, or two 26-packs of Orangina every two weeks. >_>)

So by not wanting to quit something I enjoy, I'm addicted to it?

Uh, no:

(1) MMORPG's are addictive for various obvious reasons. Research, or at least journalism, backs this up. (As does your claim that it's "easily overcome by will". Rhetoric ftw.)

(2) Historically, addicts claim they can drop an addiction via willpower alone, then say the reason they're not doing so is that they don't feel like it.

(3) The psychology here is rather simple. The addiction is derived from the same source as your enjoyment - indeed, one could even argue the addiction is your enjoyment. You're not going to quit because you labor under the illusion that you'll miss it too much, because you like it so much now; at the same time, you think you can quit, because your enjoyment masks your addiction.

WoW isn't a drug, the only addicting quality it has is entertainment.

An addiction to something is simply an inability to quit that something, for whatever reason. In this case it's the belief that you like WoW too much. (Because, you know, there are plenty of other things in the world that are equally entertaining. You could try reading, for instance.)

Why thank you for assuming that the only thing I do is play WoW, which is completely false, I play for about three hours a day, the rest spent working/at school/hanging out. Oh, and sleeping.

Neither of us ever assumed that. Frequency is unimportant. I drink three cans of Pepsi, four bottles of cider, or two bottles of Orangina daily, on average, and I still consider myself addicted.

That made me think you were assuming that. In anycase, I don't consider myself addicted, because after the three hours that I said I play, I get really bored with it.

Well, yeah, I was using the term "drug" rather loosely. You still put it 100 times better than I could, though. >_>
