| Level: 41 New Moderator | I want to see you livestream more G Gundam. The other two I haven't seen any of yet. I'll comment on their openings when I can rewatch them with clarity. Hajime no Ippo puts Inuyasha to shame in terms of length. Logos Naki World - Hellsing: Opening http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJfeCTyTqP8 This is... a weird opening, to say the least. Apparently the song is totally unable to translate accurately, as shown by the translator I got the lyrics from. This song is gibberish. The lyrics were printed in katakana, a Japanese phonetic script used to transcribe and approximate English sounds. As such, it is nearly impossible to re-transcribe the lyrics back into English, and no truly "correct" English version exists. What you see here is simply the best approximation (of an approximation) that one person came up with. As such, don't expect to make any sense of it. If you ignore the translation, however, it sounds pretty good. It's not a song I would normally associate with Hellsing, but it manages to fit in well with the opening. As for the animation, most of it is rather nice. I kind of wish there were a few more scenes with Seras (the police girl, short hair) and Integra (long hair, glasses). I felt Alexander (guy with swords) got a bit more time than he needed. And there outright isn't anything with Walter. What the heck. Walter's cool too! Wouldn't have hurt to have taken out a few of the useless zombie scenes too. (And yes, the dog is Alucard, so that isn't total randomness. Alucard being the guy with the hat and the main character.) Oh well, that's more nitpicking. It's not a favorite opening of mine, but I do appreciate it for what it is, and some of it looks quite nice. Sadly I didn't get to see it many times. The anime is garbage compared to the manga, so I only watched the first three episodes before defaulting to the manga. | Level: 41 New Moderator | No Need to Promise - Vision of Escaflowne: Opening http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJZATeQvwpo This title is from the English opening credits. I've seen others translate it differently, such as I Don't Need Promises. It all comes to a similar meaning anyway. I've also seen two different translations, but I put the one that I liked a bit more. I've only gotten up to episode seventeen of Escaflowne, but I really need to finish it. It's a fun series with a good plot. The animation is a bit quirky (why does everyone have such big noses?) but the fight scenes are well done. I've also seen a couple of surprising twists so far and am looking forward to seeing the conclusion. Of course, tarot cards make everything better too. The opening goes by the sort of formula I like. Show the main characters, show a few side characters that are fairly important, show the main characters being awesome, show some villains. The giant robots don't hurt either. The song is catchy too. I don't know how high I would rank it on a favorite anime opening song list, but I do like it. I guess my one complaint would be how Hitomi (the main girl) jumps at the end. Wouldn't she break her spine doing something like that? It looks really unnatural to me. >_> No Need to Promise - Vision of Escaflowne: Full Version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFyJIzLH30Q Say, if you love, Could anyone come to experience such loneliness? Say, will suffering even deeper than The dark night be embracing? Everything is there for two people, So that they can shine. Surely. It is you, it is you that I love, Gazing steadily with my heart. It is you, it is you I believe in, Even in the cold night. Say, even being in love, Could the end come someday for anyone? Say, a heart beat even clearer than The blue sky, can it be abandoned completely? Running along the path of the wind of the changing seasons, All the way. Even if it should be lost tomorrow And I love you as well For as long as possible I want smiling faces to shine. Now, with my tears, I appeal to you, I don't need anything like a promise Because you have given me Precious strength. Now, with my eyes, I appeal to you I don't need anything like a promise Now, with my eyes, I reach out a hand to you Even in the cold night. --- "That was pretty interesting. | Level: 41 New Moderator | Tsuki no Kaasu - Loveless: Opening http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8eZfB_MyNw If you're allergic to boy on boy relationships, you might get a heart attack from this opening. Just warning you. I haven't actually watched the Loveless anime. It apparently only lasted thirteen episodes before getting nuked. I have read as far as I could in the manga though (it's still publishing) and it's one of the only male relationship mangas I've read that I can call decent, if not outright good. The world is fairly interesting, the characters get rounded out well (especially the Zeroes), and it tackles a lot of heavier issues. But it really does get thrown on its head by most people because for the yaoi fangirls, there's no hot cat sex to watch, and for the people who actually appreciate good storylines, they see a catboy with an older guy and say 'oh this can't end well' and retreat. Needs more love indeed. This is my first time checking out the opening, and it's actually fairly good. Kind of centers only on the two main characters (with a flash of a few others), but if it's thirteen episodes, they probably didn't have room for the side characters. I like the different colored effects, and the song's pretty nice. I might try to find a copy of the full version so I can listen to it more and give it a fair ranking. And yes, the chains aren't there just to be sexy, they have a purpose. But I'll be darned if it didn't catch my attention quickly on the covers... Tsuki no Kaasu (The Moon's Curse) - Loveless: Full Version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__f1hlEKFQk Moon's curse in this icy dream... n a world with no words, I profess my love Until it will reach you, someday The intense wish that fell from those lips That I held close with wounded arms I wanted to unravel it for you Because if I throw away the beauty Of our love that existed in the past I can go towards a more beautiful night tomorrow Moon's curse From this icy dream I wanted to take you far away How far can I go Until I reach a place where I can believe in love By ways only a child who knows no pain can do You close yourself off to the world Your first words of love that you whispered at my ear eyes that hide nothing I want to deceive them If I could hold you and know that I can keep you warm I am not afraid of any punishment or sin Moon's curse We awake from the icy dream And I float aimlessly, connected to you How far shall we go Until we gain the silence of love Because If I throw away the beauty of our love that existed in the past I can go towards a more beautiful night tomorrow Moon's curse From this icy dream I wanted to take you far away How far can we go Until we reach a place where we can believe in love How far can we go Until we reach a place where we can believe in love Beyond the night, just the two of us --- "That was pretty interesting. | Level: 41 New Moderator | Parade - Naruto: Twelfth Ending http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfUZy33_yNo They're at least at twelve now? This series has a completely stupid amount of length. First of all, let me make it clear: I had never seen the actual ending until now. I was given the full song from a friend and fell in love with it. It's a great piece. So I figured that even if it was a Naruto ending, I'd put it up. Just because the show is silly doesn't make the song itself any less great. It looks like this ending revolves around Sakura, which is a shame because Sakura is a pretty bad character from what I saw. But I give props to the animators, it's quite pretty in terms of drawing. Overall it's quite well done, considering what character it's based on. Also, I found THIS first: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FqGNgb58OA. I have no idea what it is but when I saw it I was like 'oh please tell me that's not the actual ending credits even for Naruto's standards that's atrocious.' Thankfully the Sakura one is correct. Not sure where that piece of garbage came from. Parade - Naruto: Full Version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SiB9A_vdFXQ The wind blows painful unfading feelings What are we taking away collecting into one? There's no second chance There's no second chance To cast it away I seem like such a fool The image of becoming innocent That is surely unending Burning heart of love Crossing a thousand dreams Running as you please Gripping the world in your hand The clouds disperse The sun sets again A one-person parade begins to move Adventures Lucky days Heart rate Ascending Light and dark Encounters Life Mutual love If perhaps you speak Your hair Smelling Breathing in More Collecting the right words I don't understand I don't understand I don't understand just from the surface So I want, I want to go deeper It seems like such a dream Burning heart of love Crossing a thousand dreams Running as you please Coming across a welcome scenery The clouds disperse The sun sets again A parade of two dissolves into the night sky Everyone holds the night submerged in their pockets As though lighting up that person Raising your hands you are swimming If you are found out, it's okay A thing just like your scenery Burning heart of love Crossing a thousand dreams Running as you please Gripping the world in your hand The clouds disperse The sun sets again The incomplete parade goes on Adventures Lucky days Heart rate Ascending Light and dark Encounters Life Mutual love --- "That was pretty interesting. | Level: 41 New Moderator | Aozora no Namida - Blood+: First Opening http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qI7HNbCxXuQ I can't wait to watch the rest of Blood+. I'm only a few episodes in (you can see my thoughts so far in the anime talk topic), but that's because I've been wanting to truly savor it during a time where I had no other tight obligations. School was cramping my time slots and I didn't want to feel rushed through an anime that I think has true potential to hit my top ten. So long as it keeps up this sort of quality, that is. If it's like Death Note and drops downhill faster than a hot potato... Anyhow, this is the only opening I've seen in it so far, and it really hooked me. I love how it sounds, the translated lyrics are great, and it's packed with action. My favorite part is near the end with Haji (guy with the cello case) fighting and then Saya (main character) filling her sword with blood. The lyrics seem to really flow well with it. It focuses mostly on Saya, some Haji, and then barely shows the other characters, but at least it DOES show them. Enough to arouse some curiosity when just starting, if nothing else. The two right characters get the most time anyway, since the entire show revolves around Saya and Haji's, as far as I can tell, the second most prominent character. I actually had never listened to the full version until now, but that's good too, as expected. Most anime openings I like I'll go for the full version ASAP, but I never got a chance to with this one. Aozora no Namida (Tears of Heaven)- Blood+: Full Version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvQoLCDSOVE Alone in the darkness, I found out the meaning of your tears I stepped out toward the place I wished for, but I don't want to hurt anyone Today, the wind that crosses the ocean will blow straight toward tomorrow again But why can't my heart start moving? I wonder that fate awaits me I don't want to regret having been born There is courage within sadness I believe that I can find the light Tears of blue sky, still falling Someday it will change into a smile The wind that I chase after at a fast pace slips through between my fingers I'm still afraid to trust, but I will no longer linger The moon softly taps my shoulder, the water's surface shows the path of the moon It makes me forget that I was confused Even if there is nothing waiting for me tomorrow I still have hands that can make something I can even change the fated path Now I build up my strong feelings Tears of blue sky, overflowing The sky will be clear tomorrow I should be able to step toward the path I've looked up to I can go anywhere, as long as I don't lose myself I wonder that fate awaits me I don't want to regret having been born There is courage within sadness I believe that I can find the light Tears of blue sky, still falling Someday it will change into a smile --- "That was pretty interesting. | Level: 41 New Moderator | Bouken Desho Desho? - The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya: Opening http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIKRn1dbT28 If you go in expecting Haruhi to be a serious anime, fine tune your thinking. It's a bunch of Japanese humor crammed into a colorful cartoon. It started as a novel series, and though I've only read one, I liked it a lot. The narrator, Kyon, is hilariously dry and Haruhi is absolutely crazy. It makes for a fun read. The anime itself is funny too, along with some serious moments that thankfully don't feel like mood whiplash. I guess I'd kind of compare it to Disgaea in that sense, though Disgaea did it better IMO. Anyway, the opening captures the feeling of 90% of the anime. It also showcases all the important characters, along with... some who are not (why is Kyon's sister there?). I particularly like the ending portion where Kyon and Haruhi are walking across from each other, though I can't really explain why. The translated lyrics make me think that it really fits Haruhi too, if she's talking about Kyon. As a note, the ending is far more infamous due to a dance the main cast does. I don't think the song is as good though, which is why I put the opening instead. *Would probably be mobbed to death if I said that anywhere else* Bouken Desho Desho? (It's An Adventure, Right, Right?) - The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya: Full Version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kITZAF_VADQ The answer is always in my heart... Why is it that I chose you? You've been picked by the unstoppable Lady Fate, but I believe that just imitating is boring You'll be all right! I'll only feel the things that I'm feeling It's an adventure, right, right!? In a world where truth changes into lies I'm going to get stronger because I have a dream, not for anyone else Please come with me! Look at me--I'm free everywhere I go! The present today that became the past tomorrow is a miracle I believe you... It's no fun if I don't go until I reach the point of no return Now, tell me! I cast off my hidden wishes into a mirror If I react to my delight with my whole body, Your mind will fly! Let's surprise and be surprised, and smile It's the beginning, right, right!? Like how beauty illuminates the dark My power, your tears, both of them are right A delicate heart that trembles in reality I don't want it to be hurt I thought that the answer is always, always In my heart... If it's natural to not be normal, What can I do to answer? It's normal and yet it's not I'll only feel the things that I'm feeling It's an adventure, right, right!? In a world where truth changes into lies I'm going to get stronger because I have a dream, not for anyone else It's the beginning, right? It's the beginning, right!? Like how beauty illuminates the dark, You and I are on the middle of an adventure Let's advance together freely, through thick and thin And go beyond reality The present today that became the past tomorrow is a miracle A definite future Let's take hold of the future I believe you... --- "That was pretty interesting. | Level: 41 New Moderator | I'm back at last! Was supposed to actually get back on the sixteenth, but due to incredible stupidity, I got delayed by the airport two days and just made it home. Shining Days - My-HiME: Opening http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eH_jkzJdKPM Sometimes the title for this anime is spelled Mai-HiME, My-Hime, or Mai-Hime. As far as I can tell this is the most accepted one. My-HiME is what I would call an overall mindlessly enjoyable anime. It's not exactly average, I'd probably rank it seven to seven and a half out of ten. I like a lot of the characters and concepts in it, but the plot can get... weird at times, and there's a twist at the end that makes it all seem kind of pointless. The fight scenes are good though. The opening fits under that category too. It's about the same quality as the anime itself. Some humor scenes, which aren't that funny, and some fight scenes which are pretty awesome. It shows, IIRC, all of the characters that play any sort of role, which is impressive because there are a lot. I can only think of one that doesn't show up. (This isn't counting Children though; the dragon Mai, the orange haired girl, rides and the mechanical wolf are Children, but their are more not seen in that opening.) The song itself is catchy. Not one of my examples of amazing anime songs but I like to listen to it occasionally. The chorus is probably why that is the case, because the rest is kind of mediocre. The chorus is much nicer, or so I think. The lyrics translated aren't exactly anything special, but they're okay. I liked the opening for what it was for the entire show so that has to count for something. Shining Days - My-HiME: Full Version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BA0mv4GmG7Q Into the deep blue sky Our affections are getting dispersed If only you were my fated person Reality doesn't always go well Inside the shining wind The wings of a dream descend Have courage and fly to the future, So beautiful The burning beat of my heart starts beating At the same speed as that day I love that which looks straight ahead I want to look at it forever To the glittering stream of stars We each mutter our own important wish When I shut my eyelids, only you come to mind I want to go meet you right now Because twice you have not turned back And not let go of this moment You have brightened my life And made it lovely I want to discover the real me I have been reborn in order to protect you Catching the miracle which keeps passing through Until the next world The burning beat of my heart starts beating At the same speed as that day I want to discover the real me I have been reborn in order to protect you Catching the miracle which keeps passing through Until the next world Powerfully, eternally --- "That was pretty interesting. | Level: 41 New Moderator | *WARNING: There are English curse words in this opening. Be careful if people around you are sensitive to that sort of thing.* What's Up People? - Death Note: Second Opening http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0J3CQJIMH4 This is, without a doubt, the most drug-tripped anime opening I've ever seen. You can't watch this and think the person making it WASN'T on something. I can't even explain it, just... look. At your own risk. That said, the art has a surprising grip on me. I love how some of the scenes are shown, especially at the end where everything flashes forward and it looks like Light is in a mental ward or something. So I think it's fairly cool to watch even if it's crazy. The song, on the other hand... Ew. I hate songs with random screaming and this comes close enough to make me not like it. WHATSUPPEOPLE at the end is ear bleeding. I don't even care to listen to the full version. I just watch the opening because I like that, but the song can go rot for all I care. Though it's not the worst anime song opening by a long shot. (Spiral. *Shudder*) I had a heck of a time with the full version lyrics because there were a ton of different interpretations. I finally settled on copying and pasting the one below. But you can easily tell by watching the opening that there are, in fact, English curses. I'm pretty surprised that made it onto the DVDs without an upping in rating. | Level: 41 New Moderator | Anbaransu Na Kiss o Shite - Yu Yu Hakusho: Third Ending http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9-BKwj3XB8 I've read a good deal of the Yu Yu Hakusho manga and would like to finish it at some point. As for the anime, I only watched one arc, and this was one of the endings it had. The song itself is... well, I'm not sure peaceful works here, but it seems mellow and relaxing, especially after watching two guys slug each other out for an entire episode. It's one that I definitely will listen to out of context because it's a pleasant piece to hear. As for the art, I'm fond of it. The images are cool, and it shows a surprising amount of characters. Most endings I see focus specifically on one or two, while this one goes all over the place. It's a nice change of pace. The clips near the end are my favorite. I really like the shot of Younger Togoro (guy with sunglasses) and Genkai (woman with pink hair). The song itself makes me think of those two even though it's not quite a perfect fit. Their history is pretty interesting, especially for a manga/anime that focuses mainly on fighting. Yu Yu Hakusho overall is probably one of my favorite shonen series for that reason. Stray - Wolf's Rain: Opening http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoQuu7GPxAI Since I watched (and recorded) Wolf's Rain on Adult Swim, I never got to see this opening until now. Epyon gave me a link to the full version, which was what I fell in love with before today. As those who know me would assume, I really like Wolf's Rain, so it pleases me that the opening is done well. This is another one of the rare 'in English but well sung' openings. The lyrics are great for the context of the anime, and the artwork in the opening is definitely fitting. It's kind of disappointing that most of it focuses on Kiba and that some important characters aren't even shown, but in combination with the lyrics, it does make sense. It's really making me want to rewatch it too. Stray - Wolf's Rain: Full Version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVo65MJLBK0 Stray! Stray! If so, I am very, very sorry. Nobody deserves to be subjected to that screeching mess. Which is a pity because I loved the Spiral manga, so giving it an opening like that is just plain insulting. Nah, I watched one episode of Spiral way back. Never again. ...I suppose I could have just muted the opening but that seems like too much work. --- "There's a pony in the shop, but don't buy it. | Level: 41 New Moderator | Yeah, the animation is fine. That song though... Indeed. Thank goodness for the first opening's song, that one I actually enjoy listening to. Nah, I watched one episode of Spiral way back. Never again. ...I suppose I could have just muted the opening but that seems like too much work. Do yourself a favor and read the manga. No stupid opening, and I hear it's better in terms of fleshing out than the anime. It's basically a mix of Yu-Gi-Oh and Death Note with a bit of Phoenix Wright at the beginning. Plus about ten cups of awesome added into the mix. If that doesn't sound amazing to you... something's wrong! COLORS - Code Geass-Lelouch of the Rebellion-: First Opening http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGa0RCHhS8U http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLOf1S4tCa4 Why two links? This is a rare occasion where the opening gets changed a bit in animation but not in song. I'm counting them together due to how similar they are. There is a second, much different opening that I am not quite as fond of due to the song, though it's still all right. Anyhow, the song is catchy. One of those I can hum along to. The art is your typical CLAMP art, so it depends on whether you like your characters extra skinny or not. (Lelouch probably got crammed into lockers at school far too often, just look at the guy!) But it has a good mix of characters shown and action scenes. I like the second version a bit more than the first, probably mostly because it the first almost identically repeats the C.C. clip and thus wastes some time. Hm... I'd rank this a bit above My-HiME, but I put them in about the same category of 'good action openings but not amazing'. I've only seen the first season of Code Geass, which left off on a silly cliffhanger. It should have made me bolt for the next one. I didn't because I still can't get over the Diabolis Ex Machina which is incredibly convoluted and stupid. I will eventually but holy #&$@. As a side note, I prefer the translation in the first video of "I feel like I can change the one full translation I found and I went with that. COLORS - Code Geass-Lelouch of the Rebellion-: Full Version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VFOn2sF0fw Moments that seem like they can change both me And even the world are always right next to me... Gazing at the irritation I can't hide and myself as I stand stock still Despite my hesitation, despite my worries, despite my regrets, I should decide With one word you've given me, my bewilderment vanishes Light shone in my once empty room The sky I gazed up at is so blue and serene I decided to open up a window that was shut Moments that seem like they can change both me And even the world are always right next to me... Searching for answers that must be in the unfulfillable everyday If I turn around towards the lonesome, gentle voice in the sunlight You unexpectedly smile in the midst of brilliant sunlight I'm about to open up a window that was shut An existence that seems like it can change both me And even the world is right in front of my eyes... The sky I gazed up at is so blue and serene I decided to open up a window that was shut Right now, I sense here a moment that seems Like it can change me and even the world... Spread both your hands towards the light... A fragrant wind the color of the sky blows through my heart --- "That was pretty interesting. But dropping a warship on me is cheating... | Level: 41 New Moderator | Wild Drive - Yu-Gi-Oh: Third Opening http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3f2cX_UakAQ Yeah, a Yu-Gi-Oh opening of all things. This is a surprisingly cool song and opening for an anime based on a children's card game. Since 4kids apparently was allergic to good openings, they drop-kicked all the original ones and replaced them with... openings that don't have singers. At least it was okay to watch and listen to, as compared to some. (CARD CAPTORS, a quest for adventure... >_<) I was given the full versions of several Yu-Gi-Oh songs and this one probably ranks as my favorite from what I've heard. The full version is definitely what I'd define as catchy, though the random... scream in the middle (thankfully not ear-splitting but still obnoxious) gets on my nerves. Showcases the important characters for Battle City, which is when this opening played. Good monster choices, and a surprising amount of action scenes considering we're watching people play card games. For a Yu-Gi-Oh opening, it's pretty remarkable. ...Not much to say about the translated lyrics though. Ho hum. I much prefer the tone of voice for the singing rather than what the words mean. I never got the appeal of Wild Drive. <_< Maybe it is, I tried my best to forget it. >_> And I've never heard Kawaita Sakebi so I can't compare that. Today things are going to be a bit different. I've been wanting to post these two openings, but neither have lyrics or full versions. So I decided to throw them together to make one full day. Grain - Monster: Opening http://www.myvideo.de/watch/4047426/Monster_Opening If someone actually finds the opening on Youtube, feel free to put up a link to it. I couldn't find the opening itself at all, only the piece of music. Way to fail me for the first time ever Youtube! Monster is probably the best anime I've seen, as I may have said before. For all seventy-four episodes this opening plays, but it's thankfully a good one and I never felt a need for it to change. Sort of grim instrumental and clips, which makes sense because the whole show carries that sort of mood. But it has some really cool details when looking at it. I particularly like the blood splotches forming into characters. It isn't even done in a gory fashion, or so I think. Just enough to give an eerie feeling while seeing them formed. And the section with Johann is great for portraying him (kid who is in front of the window). Sadly, the ending songs suck. They sound bad and the lyrics are blah. The art is fine, but... bleeeeh the songs. So stick with the opening for this series. H.T. - Trigun: Opening http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSX58TglZRs I actually had to do some searching to figure out what the name for this piece was. I always just heard it called 'the Trigun opening'. But apparently it's called H.T., whatever that stands for. This is a rocking track. Pumps me up for some hardcore gun action. I'm not really fond of the comical scenes near the start because it's so vastly out of place compared to the sweet music, but oh well, the rest is good. Another case where I was given the music and just now got to see the opening. I need to watch more Trigun. --- "That was pretty interesting. But dropping a warship on me is cheating... In this (I believe the second major) arc, thirteen squads are introduced, each containing a captain and a vice captain. For the thirteen episodes that have the ending Houki Boshi, a new animation is played to show one of these duos. A couple also show other important characters from the squads, especially the ending for Squad Eleven. This series of endings is probably the most unique I've seen yet for that reason. I love all of the effort put into making each one define the squads. Even some of the utterly boring squads (Squad One being the most major offender to me) got some cool scenes. The squads in general were what interested me in Soul Society and I couldn't wait to learn more about them. ...Then it got incredibly stupid and I stopped watching it because screw you Kubo. Other than that... the song is pretty, I definitely like it a lot. It's my favorite of the Bleach openings/endings I've heard. The little pictures they put at the start of each for the main cast are cute. And of all of them, my favorite is probably the one for Squad Six, though Squad Eleven makes a close run for having Kenpachi with his hair down. Makes him even more awesome, not that he NEEDS more awesomeness but hey maybe the manga/anime will blow up from his awesomeness to free us from the vast stupidity. ...In fact, for the insult of having to throw a shirtless Renji in, maybe I will give Squad Eleven a push over, but it's a hard call. The worst for me is Squad Twelve since Mayuri's an SOB and it doesn't really show anything interesting besides Nemu doing backflips. Oh, and for anyone not familiar with it, note that these didn't play in numerical order. They got mixed up depending on which wouldn't give away information/fit well with an episode. And this happened before lol Aizen so they were still trying to make Gin look incredibly evil. Not that... he isn't, but my point stands. Man I talked a lot for this one didn't I. Probably because Bleach actually had my attention for a good period of time. Inuyasha had a similar grip on me but it died far quicker since the plot decided to take a nap on a roadside and there wasn't enough Sesshomaru. Bleach held up pretty well until the end of Soul Society, where it fell faster than a sack of potatoes tied to an anvil. Truly a pity. The name of this song might be Houkiboshi, but I usually see it with a space. I really like how the lyrics translate, they're lovely. Houki Boshi (Comet) - Bleach: Full Version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUZ8E7Scu_k Looking up at the night sky alone, I saw a comet Though it appeared and vanished in a second When I think of you, my chest begins to hurt I want to see you right now, but I can't fly through the sky If perchance I could have become a comet I would go flying through the sky No matter what kind of tomorrow comes, this thought is strong So my comet is unbreakable As I was complaining about how hateful the rain was Even now I still remember what you said How, after the rain, the night sky is beautifully filled with stars Thinking of that, I could even come to like the rain If perchance I could have become a comet I would always spill my overflowing light As you look at the night sky when you're sad I want to sparkle more so that you will smile You are always fighting something by yourself Being by your side is all I can do If perchance I could have become a comet I would go flying thorugh the sky, surely I would definitely reach you, with this single moment of light Lighting up your present and passing through the sky If I could have become a comet I would surely stay by your side, at any time --- "That was pretty interesting. They are not nearly as explicit and detailed as Elfen Lied's, but they are there.* Tabi no Tochuu - Spice and Wolf: Opening http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZkVmtYgQIc Starting as a series of light novels, Spice and Wolf has been made into an anime with two seasons thus far and has a manga. This is the opening for the first season, which I can't wait to see because there is a wolf girl in it. And she is adorable. I need no other reasons. Wolves! I looked up this opening and the ending to decide which to use tonight and quickly decided on the opening. The ending is... ehhhh. I didn't like it at all, though who knows, it could grow on me. This, on the other hand, is a beautiful opening and I really appreciate it. I find it rare for an opening to not be geared towards action. They are often quick paced, or in some cases, loud. They make you ready for a packed episode ahead. Duvet from Serial Experiments Lain was an exception, and this is another one. This one makes sense because it focuses on a merchant and a wolf girl selling spices. Apparently. It's supposed to be rather heavy into politics. So I wouldn't expect anything faster than this. I love the animation and the pretty song. The lyrics are great and sum up just what I've thought of Spice and Wolf... though again I haven't actually seen it yet. I will be shortly and I will write up on it when I do. Tabi no Tochuu (On a Journey) - Spice and Wolf: Full Version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcYAhr0ZzDc All alone, on a journey, I lost my way; as I stood still, my heart alone wandered. But now I can walk again, as far as I need to; yes, ever since I met you on this road. The song travelers sing, though I don't know it, sounds familiar to me as long as I'm with you. If the world we dreamed of exists anywhere, let's go look for it, beyond the wind. The freezing dawn, the parched midday, the trembling night; let's go see what's at their end. Your eyes, which know loneliness well, blink, and that color is reflected. I'll fly into the sky and become a crescent moon; those mint-colored stars must be shards of tears. A dock in the country to the east; the western sea; a southern town in a dark forest; a golden tower; a hill in the south, shaken by water; above all, the same moon. As long as you'll let me hold your hand, how far shall we go? Together with you, I can go anywhere. Let's go embrace the rustling scent of a world yet unseen. --- "That was pretty interesting. | Level: 41 New Moderator | Daia no Hana - Black Cat: Opening First Version - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wt1FuMWVjs Second Version - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EI-ckFMPILU I should have done this with the Code Geass opening, but oh well. There are two versions of Black Cat's opening, but the difference is quite small. I prefer the first version because some of the group shots in the second are so packed that you can barely make out anyone in them. Plus why does Train (main character with a XIII tattoo) have a motorcycle? He's too far in debt to have one! Plus Sven (guy with the hat) is the designated driver! I haven't actually watched Black Cat. I read the manga, which is superb. I rated it nine out of ten, losing a point for some silly parts (zombie werewolves through nanotechnology!). The characters grow wonderfully, the fights are cleverly done, and Eve (blonde girl) is adorable. I had heard the anime was worse, and decided to read up on why this was. Apparently it makes Eve into a damsel in distress hugely (this only happens to a large proportion once in the manga and it's for a very good reason, this sounds rather shoveled together). But even worse, the main villain, Creed, becomes good. This does NOT work. Not at all. Read the manga and you will realize that Creed has no chance in the world of being redeemed. Hearing that tidbit permanently put me off reading it. That said, it's a cool opening. Shows a good amount of characters, fast paced to fit the tone the series takes, and the song is catchy. Other than one little part in the chorus that sounds kind of rushed, it's a great piece. The lyrics, from what I can tell, are fitting. But I had a heck of a time finding a full English translation. In the end this was the best I could get. I didn't correct anything in it, so you can see why I'm a bit dubious due to spelling and grammar. But oh well, it's better than nothing. Daia no Hana (Diamond Flower) - Black Cat: Full Version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAttu6EpyAA when it begins it's always like this under the ultramarine sky i hold to my vow now i will walk Yah in a desert with a golden light (burning wind) i search for the diamond flower (muddledly continuing) in the beginning, for somebody's sake now i keep going on there is something I want to protect Never, never again do I want to experience loss Yah the wish held in my heart (shakingly) in order to fulfil it, i (no matter how much i hurt) laughingly began to desire now i take up the sword within shredded memories redness brims, slaughtering shadows these claws slash and seize and take until i reach the important thing i want to protect whoever thinks of it will weep in the night floats the scent of the diamond flower there is something i want to protect never, never again do i want to lose it resounds, the dream smaller than anything stronger than anything, is this pulsation --- "That was pretty interesting. But Rockman.EXE's first opening theme has just done it. Exactly one video of it exists on Youtube, which I finally found after a ton of searching. But the blasted thing is backwards! Look at the subtitles at the bottom. It's basically a mirror version of the real opening. That was the only video I could find of it (one small exception below), even with Google, so I wound up sticking a part of the first episode that includes it as the first minute and a half or so. Don't watch any further than the opening though. It's subbed, so you'll quickly lose your sanity. (TORCHMAN.) Alternatively, you can look on animelyrics to see their video of it, as they always include a video with their lyrics. I never use them if I can help it due to crummy quality though. Anyhow... know how I said Fukai Mori got me into anime? I never thought about actively looking for anime songs even with it. It was Kaze wo Tsukinukete that got me to do that. The first time a friend sent me a Japanese episode of Rockman.EXE, I was blasted with this awesome piece and was like 'I really have to find more of these'. It's funny to look back on it, because I've come across so many other anime openings that are better since then. But I have a soft place in my heart for this one due to it kicking me off, and it's still a good piece. Believe it or not, Rockman.EXE is actually a good show. I had a lot of fun watching what I did and would love to finish it up at some point. It has a couple of unusually dramatic moments for your typical shonen series, along with some interesting plot twists. Unfortunately it suffers from filler and from a terrible dub, but it's still a nice watch in the end. The opening showcases the more important characters, though it makes me wonder why some of them show up (dang I can't wait to watch this show so I can see Skullman appear once or twice total!). This is another somewhat unusual case of an opening being made specifically for an anime. The lyrics are a bit silly, but who cares, you're listening to it in a different language anyway! Most of the time, that is. Some Engrish is slipped in. At least the show itself has some hilarious Engrish. (Go find some clips of Count Elec sometime, his Engrish is amazing.) Oh Rockman, together we'll find the answers Even in battles to the bitter end As long as you'll fight without giving up, I'll be strong A password was hidden somewhere We'll never reach it with random words If we go deeper, we'll surely understand each other Our hearts are on the Net Even in a world without maps, Oh Rockman, if only you can believe There will be a path before your eyes Hold on to the shining dream in your heart and run! A lot of it seemed dull while other parts didn't make sense. I want to rewatch it to reevaluate my opinion. As it goes, I wasn't fond of this opening song. Now, I still don't listen to it much out of context, but when mixed with the opening, it's wonderful. And it really does fit Last Exile. It's a rare case where I like it when watching, but outside of it, I can't bring myself to care much. I have to say, artwise, this is probably the most impressive opening I've seen yet. Just look at the details put into those ships and the characters. They look amazing. The ending is nice too, and I like its song more, but it lacks the incredible artwork. This was the second opening that I had to poke around on other websites to get a translation for. Hopefully it's accurate. In exchange for a cold night we flap our wing and grasp eternity at our journey's end... The world is large, but we'll pick up the correct answers and then fly into the blue sky We wrap ourselves in fire and rise all the way up then we'll strike the deep beat The answer is a Cloud Age Symphony ...off where you and the light shine the sea of clouds Oh In exchange for a moment that is just like magic To get today's smile in the palm of the hand For many dawns and grasp eternity at our journey's end... I watched it at a young age on Adult Swim for four episodes and never bothered to try catching the last two. Other than people whacking each other with guitars it held little interest to me. Even worse, I got outright headaches from the animation. But that was a long time ago and I'd like to try it again. The soundtrack is one reason I'm especially interested in checking it out. It's really darn good. I got hooked on it due to its ending. Since FLCL only has six episodes, it's not surprising they only kept one ending. Strangely it also seems to lack an opening, but on the other hand, the ending is longer than most. In fact, just about the entire ending does play; the only difference I hear between this one and the full version is a riff at the end. It's a weird ending in both lyrics and art. I've never seen an anime ending that mixes animation and real life shots/videos together until this one. Half the lyrics are beyond me while the other half at least sound neat. But I can't say it isn't justified, considering how insane FLCL is to watch. | Level: 37 Advanced | Alumina - Death Note: Season One Ending http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUW9bDiKbjY&feature=related I really enjoyed Death Note when I saw it the first time, and there was just something about these lyrics that spoke to me in this ending song, so much so that I use one of the potential translations in my signature on forums such as this. The opening is good as well but I liked the ending theme just a little bit more. And yes, the second series stuff is just crazy, but still good in its own right. Alumina - Death Note: Season One Ending http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=licQjc-4Mfo&feature=related [This is just one of many translations I found and the 'best fit' in my opinion.] Amidst the passing time, a twinkling and ephemeral sparkling I'm a believer that keeps walking, to carve his memories of it into the world Having dreams that no one else can, I cast aside the things I don't need Feelings that I won't surrender reside in my heart There is still a gap between ideals and reality, even though the shackles of sacrifice prevent my feet from moving I can't suppress the overflowing urge, because my heart is very wanting "Lies", "fear", "emptiness", "grief", I'm not so weak that I'm Gripped by all these kinds of negativities, I'm a trickster who knows no solitude Flocks of buildings stab into the night sky, look up to the sky in which I can't see any stars I ask myself "aren't you lost?" The city is smeared with overflowing things It's not something that's unrealistic At the end of the road that connects us to the future, I want to see what I've got in my hand Closing my eyes, I float on the sea of my senses, and envision it The day that I have my ideals within my grasp It's accepted in this world that "righteousness" has it's limits; and withering is foolishly the same way Something that no one else has, toward a crystallization called "myself" Piercing through simplicity, one day it will change into reality I want to continue to obstinately believe, it's just my faith. The absolute truth. Amidst the passing time, a twinkling and ephemeral sparkling I'm a believer that keeps walking, to carve his memories of it into the world --- "I am a trickster who doesn't know solitude" ~ Death Note season 1 ending Do not mind the horns, they are only there to hold the halo up. 0>:] Your Fiendly neighborhood bloodsucker signing off for now. |

| Level: 41 New Moderator | Alumina - Death Note: Season One Ending http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUW9bDiKbjY&feature=related Glad you posted this, it's a good ending. I prefer the opening a bit myself. Parallel Hearts - Pandora Hearts: First Opening http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zm9fhJHoWo8 It appears that there are two openings, hence why I put 'first' here, but if I'm wrong give a shout. Pandora Hearts is another 'oh man I have to see this' anime. Connections to Alice in Wonderland with pretty people? I'm on board! This is the first time I have seen or heard the opening, period, and I like it a lot. Good music, good animation, and it catches my attention. ...The chains with those two guys probably has something to do with it but anyway! It also has a killer rabbit, who can't love it? Now I really need to watch it. Hope my laptop can handle getting anime. Parallel Hearts - Pandora Hearts: Full Version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mH_yAhcwy7I We've seen The power to change the future In our dreams I can hear your cries within the noise I laughed at it and it only dispose all of my weaknesses Only you can know where you were heading While chasing a different skies We wished for the courage to face the future You kept on smiling While being lost in the past Until you can return to the real present The first time I want to know about you I was scared at how far the distance between our hearts Just by understanding any misunderstoods We can start forward I wanted to hold your tears and pains But if I run I become restless as I run further How far do I have to keep on running... ... I can hear your songs within the noise and I started to see my disappearing self Please give me the strength to change the future Where I'm supposed to walk alone I can fly very high Just because of your smile We wished for the courage to link our hearts To keep on smiling with you While being lost in love Until I can return to the real me --- "That was pretty interesting. | Level: 41 New Moderator | Mind As Judgment - Canaan: Opening http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGdMWXPEoKE Canaan isn't spoken of very often from my experience. From what I understand, it's based off a scenario that Type-Moon (yes, the same people who did Fate Stay Night) had in a video game of theirs. It's got thirteen episodes and spun off some written works and manga. The few people who know about it usually do because they're like 'whoa man Type-Moon this has to be good!' I haven't seen it yet, but I want to. I actually have a figure of Canaan, that's how much I like her design, to get one before even seeing the show. It looks like a cool series. When checking out the opening and ending, this one definitely seemed better to me between it and the ending, so I wound up posting it. I like the start of the song and the end portion of the chorus. Some of the other parts aren't very remarkable, but there's nothing unpleasant; everything is at least above average in my opinion. There are some great action scenes and it shows a wide cast of characters. The way they do this, through oddly-colored stills, is a cool feature. It's another case of making me want to see the anime even more than before, which means it did its job well. This is the third time animelyrics hasn't had the opening, so another new website was used for this translation. Mind As Judgment - Canaan: Full Version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62G7VdqSYoc I personally tore up our bond as Judgment, hanging it up... In a nameless fable, speak of the sinners' Darkness, shade and fear The demonic flock revives Beckon the settled border At the end of time, there's a dead end town And the laughter of gods of death Even if I atone, even if I recompense In the definition of bodily death Did you see? Did you say? I mourn it with error Holding the life I must protect I believed that the weight is love It's the tactic for corruption, but if it's a betrayal trust of a heart So that it won't touch my precious world mind as Judgment Give up! You know! Give up! Jokes turn prayers into ashes The ark with life of wild pulses Goes to those who drown I'll give you the light you seek There's a zero count down at the depths of the earth you cling onto And the scream of death It's squirming, it's whispering You spread the scent of desire, right? Do that fake! Do that fake! So please choose On the day of destruction fated to come If words won't even have meanings Then recite your sincerest wishes now keep your faith What you must scorn is a life of resignation nine days wonder, all above Only few remain; c'mon, what will you do if you flee? Be filled with fear, Hold my breath, if you run On the day of destruction fated to come If words won't even have meanings Then recite your sincerest wishes now Holding an immaculate life Is the weight love? Before it betrays me still trust of a heart While gazing at my precious world mind as Judgment Get out! I shot! Get out! --- "That was pretty interesting. But dropping a warship on me is cheating... Take it back!"-Id, Xenogears |

| Level: 41 New Moderator | The Biggest Dreamer - Digimon Tamers: Opening http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idQ1YAuq0sI Digimon Tamers is the third season of Digimon and my personal favorite out of the first three (I haven't seen any beyond that). It's dark and edgy, yes, but the plot and characters are so well done that I fell in love with it. Plus a lot of the new Digimon were awesome. It's still my favorite anime from my child days and probably still makes my top ten list. Since I saw the dub, I never got to see the opening until now. It's fairly good. I'd probably have to listen to the song a few more times to really get into it, but its lyrics are fitting for a good portion of the series. It showcases all the characters, and that kind of annoys me since it reveals later Digivolutions that should be surprises. At least the Mega forms are hidden. Overall, I'd rank it as at least above average, perhaps higher if I get a chance to let it grow on me. The Biggest Dreamer - Digimon Tamers: Full Version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5h4gUz7RqA Wanna be the biggest dreamer Running full speed through both the future and the present That's right, I've realized it, I forgot to do my homework That's one puzzle, puzzle, puzzle, "Who am I?" Even if I slide and skin my knees I've gotta stand right back up, I know my chance will run away Big and bigger, biggest dreamer! Dreaming is the start of everything that's the answer I'll fly farther than anyone through all the tomorrows Fly to the horizon, our courage has gained wings In order to grow big and strong, I'll run too For a long time I've heard the count down I'm prepared, let's start now, change into zero! Big and bigger, biggest dreamer! We've gotta believe, disappear into the twinkling instand I'll run, not turning away from my heart's target, through all the tomorrows Big and bigger, biggest dreamer! Dreaming is the start of everything that's the answer I'll fly farther than anyone through all the tomorrows Big and bigger, biggest dreamer! Dreaming is the start of everything that's the answer I'll fly farther than anyone through all the tomorrows Big and bigger, biggest dreamer! Dreaming is the start of everything, that's the answer Wanna be the biggest dreamer Running full speed through both the future and the present --- "That was pretty interesting. | Level: 41 New Moderator | Daybreak's Bell - Gundam 00: First Opening http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edaC4IX0IZs This is another case of 'an anime I would like to see but a friend gave me the full song to listen to beforehand'. It's a pretty song and I like it a lot. I was actually a bit surprised by how much action the opening had to go with it, but it fits together pretty smoothly. This opening is a really good example of how I like characters to be displayed. It shows a lot of different people but nothing to explain who they are, prompting the viewer to keep watching. Just intriguing enough to get me interested some more. The fight clips in it seem pretty well done. It's a good construction overall, and having a good song helps. Daybreak's Bell - Gundam 00: Full Version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVPBydFbp58 Hey, is this kind of meeting all there is? How sad Even if it costs your life, I don't want you to kill... please Even destiny seems to be swallowed up and sink into the sea May my wish ride on the wind and ring daybreak's bell Like a bird - My wishes over their airspace Crossing countless waves, to protect You, who are facing off against tomorrow - My life I trade in for your pain Stop the fighting Hey, why do people repeat their mistakes, piling one upon another? I hate this blood that flows in people who won't evolve We judge each other with fire on this earth that belongs to no one If a clear future came, flowers would even grow On weapons - My wishes over their airspace Someone pinch me, wake me from this bad dream If my wish is granted - My life I trade in for your pain How much do I have to pray for it to reach Heaven? Now, the sunrise reflects me and the sea May my wish ride on the wind and ring daybreak's bell Like a bird - My wishes over their airspace Crossing countless waves, to protect You, who are facing off against tomorrow - My life I trade in for your pain Take flight without looking back, carrying these feelings, flying through that sky No one can shoot this future down --- "That was pretty interesting. | Level: 41 New Moderator | Kakuteru - Spiral ~Bond of Reasoning~: Ending http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDiC7ap235o I can't believe I'm posting this but here it is. I wanted some sort of Spiral representation. As I've said before, the manga is awesome. I hear the anime is lacking, but I highly recommend the manga to anyone who hasn't read it. It has some really clever 'wits' battles, and the characters get some great development. For once the sidekick girl is actually clever and pulls a lot of the weight, which is a very refreshing change. I could go into more detail, but let's get to the piece posted. The opening was totally out of the question because it's boring to watch and, more importantly, the song is a bleeding mess. I wanted to drill out my eardrums from hearing it. Worst anime song I have heard yet and I've heard What's Up People? </rimshot> The ending at least has a nice, catchy song, so you can listen to the full version without feeling bad. Actually watching the ending, on the other hand... Well okay, it's lathered on pretty heavily that Eyes and Kanone are homosexual (but never outright said so I'm holding onto the belief of friendship-*smothered by fangirls*), but what's with the leather and blindfolds? Last time I checked this was not a sexually oriented manga, did the anime throw that out the window or is it just a lie to get "that" group of people interested? And the other blindfold/leather group is just... what. Well, other than the stupid sexual things being forced in, it's actually a decent ending. I like that they showcase the Blade Children and then put one shot of the hero and heroine at the end, rather than the other way around. Too many endings focus solely on the hero and leave little room for other characters. This one does not do that, so thumbs up for that and the song. Just... if you want to watch the ending, prepare for stupid bondage-looking scenes for no real reason. Oh, and since I forgot to mention, the lyrics make no bloody sense for this series. But that's why we can be glad it's in Japanese and thus concentrate more on the fact that it sounds nice rather than picking over the lyrics. Kakuteru (Cocktail) - Spiral ~Bond of Reasoning~: Full Version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2n0pE06t4d0 the sweet scent that showered my dry throat my feelings begin to overflow continuously just like following a soccer ball don't look at me with that same gaze I've already gotten used to the third year in office but what did I lose instead? the adults who consider marriage as a penalty and the children who can never dream due to that because you're someone that I have fallen in love with, that girl that you have chosen is surely wonderful the past where we were able to argue about anything even the slightly uncomfortable discussion of love can be done properly now, at this age the more I wish for everyone to be happy the number of postcards taken with my husband increases the child that I wanted with you five years ago has no resemblance of me I have many love and dreams but if I could have stepped up a little more more useless household-like complaints would have been made wanting to run away from painful and melancholy things I don't need nights where I must drown in sweet cocktails facing the painful and melancholy things I run away once again from the long battle one day seems to feel very long but one year passes by very quickly one year seems to feel very quick but how well will I be able to live my life? --- "That was pretty interesting. But dropping a warship on me is cheating... Take it back!"-Id, Xenogears |
