[Spoiler for FE7, click to show]Apparently adding is really hard, and my turn count is actually 10 higher than it seems. You would think I'd notice that somehow I cleared Chapters 20 and 21 in 0 turns, which would be quite the impressive feat.

Chapter 29:

Before the Chapter: Sold Elysian Whip, Elfire. Farina uses the Angelic Robe. Raven uses the Talisman. Matthew promotes at Level 12, because I don't think he gains anything more from being a Thief at this point for me.

Defeat Enemy - Left: 43.

ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

Okay, okay, we can do this. Can we do this well? Hard to say. But we can do this.

Oh. There's one other problem. I don't think I've really bought weapons since Chapter 16, and well, we're starting to run low.

No pressure!

Florina levels. SKL, DEF.
Hawkeye levels. HP, SKL.
Guy levels. SKL, SPD.
Hawkeye levels. HP, SKL, Luck.
Raven levels. SKL.
Farina levels. STR, SPD, Luck... I think.

Florina levels. HP, SPD, Luck, DEF.
Hawkeye levels. DEF.
Florina levels. HP.

Florina levels. HP, STR, SPD (Max), Luck, DEF.

Oh dear, did we just aggro Vaida with Hector one out of range? Oh well, this'll be funny.

Oswin levels. HP.
Hector recruits Vaida.
Hawkeye levels. STR, Luck.
Guy levels. HP, Luck, DEF.
Florina levels. HP, SKL (Max), REs.
Farina levels. STR, SKL, SPD, DEF.
Matthew gets the Warp Staff.
Harken levels. HP, SPD, RES.
Marcus levels. HP, Luck.
Merlinus (yes, Merlinus) buys 6 Iron Swords, 4 Iron Lances, 8 Iron Axes. Just to tide us over until Battle Preparations. (Also because this shop is awful). I could have got Silver Weapons, but I'd rather think about finalized weapon choices in Battle Prep than here.
Serra levels. HP, RES.
Matthew levels. HP, SKL, SPD.
Hawkeye levels. SPD, Luck, RES.
Louise levels. SKL, Luck, RES.
Farina uses an Elixir somewhere in there, she's been playing with Linus for the last two turns or so.
Farina uses another Elixir.
Hawkeye levels. HP, SKL, DEF. Hawkeye is at Level --/20.
Farina levels. HP, SPD, RES.
Florina kills Linus on Turn 11 and levels. HP, STR.

Chapter 29 Turns: 11

Chapter 30:

Before the Chapter: Hector promotes. It also occurs to me that FE7 has a "glitch." I think Merlinus "has" 5 Iron Swords on his person that I can't get now. I even tested trying to trade to them back on Cog of Destiny when this notion first occurred to me, but no trade option exists. How fun!

So, this is basically NoF Revisited for me. In that Farina will kill everything that breathes while Florina follows with Hector.

Florina levels. HP, STR, Luck.
Farina levels. STR, SKL, DEF, RES.
Farina defeats the boss and levels. HP, STR (Max), SPD, RES.
Hector take the spot on Turn 6. (6? Did we lose a turn somewhere. I thought it was 4 if Florina wasn't a failure, but 5 because she was. the hell did 6 come from. glorious STR levels can't reset to find out.)

Chapter 31: This is a message from Lord Nergal. "I await you on the Dread Isle." This is a message from Lord Nergal. "I await you on the Dread Isle." This is a message...

That's funny. Why would I send a message to myself? And why would I want to go back there?

Before the Chapter: Sold 3 Iron Lances, 6 Javelins, 1 Iron Axe, 8 Hand Axes, 1 Heal Staff, 2 Iron Swords and the White Gem. The weapons were all at low usage and I only kept them around because I knew I needed every weapon use I could get.

Because Farina got hit I had a few ways to play this. Heal and hope Hector lives, or don't heal and hope Farina lives. Farina has already been a pro thus far so I don't want to push it there. It's up to Hector now.
Farina uses an Elixir.
Harken gets the Talisman.
Guy levels. HP, SPD, Luck.

Chapter 32x: Let's. Get. Dangerous.

Farina: All safeties removed.
Florina: This is not a drill.
Farina: Prepare for-
Serra: Um, guys.
Farina: What?
Serra: This is kind of embarassing, but uh...
Florina: Spit it out.
Serra: I have 10 Magic.
Florina: ...
Farina: ...
Serra: So, I... can't quite warp...
Farina: You are the worst character.
Florina: disgusting
Serra: It's... It's just a... I'll get over-
Farina: Done listening to you! Pent! You're up!
Pent: What? Guys, I told you, you only get one. I'm not even part of the-
Farina: Don't care!
Matthew: ohgodohgodpleasedon'tlookatmepleasedon'tlookatme
Farina: Matthew!
Matthew: AH! ...W-What?
Farina: Do you have any issues you need to share with the class?
Matthew: N-No...
Farina: Fantastic. You know what to do?
Matthew: Y-Yeah...
Farina: Great. Now, don't screw up or I swear we're almost at the end we have no use for incompetent units at this point
Matthew: *gulp*
Pent: Um... hey... guys...
Farina: Oh, you have got to be ****ing kidding me. What?
Pent: Good news. I can warp Matthew in there. Bad news, I can't warp him to the tile in front of Kishuna given the deployment locations without Matthew wasting his Player Phase to move one tile forward.
Florina: Pent you are a ****ing terrible character.
Pent: Hey, I resent-
Florina: Shut. Up.
Farina: Okay, this is enough of this ****. I am ****ing taking over this operation. Send me in.

Pent warps Farina into Kishuna's room. can you hear the 4 turns crying out in agony? Just me then?
Farina levels. HP.
Farina needs either a Silver Lance crit, or two Brave Lance hits, with one being a crit. Assuming I did the math right, both are about a 10% chance of occurring. Fiora's crit chance is 16% but her hit ranges from 64 to 59% depending on what she has equipped. Trying the Brave Lance method because it has roughly a 1% higher chance of working, again, assuming I calculated correctly.

Florina misses the first, makes the second. Restart.

**************************

...Actually going to swap to Silver Lance method just because if it should ever pass I get First Brave Lance crits, second misses, I'll be so frustrated it's not worth it.

Farina levels. HP, SPD, Luck, DEF, RES.
And Farina is killed by Tomahawks. Oh yeah, that. Did I mention Farina has to dodge a bunch of **** now? Yeah, there's that added challenge. Restart.

***************************

Farina levels. HP.
And tomahawks again. Restart.

***************************

Gave Farina an Axereaver to see if it improves her odds at surviving Enemy Phase 1.

Axereaver does in fact ensure her survival of Enemy Phase 1.
Silver Lance hits but does not crit.

***************************

Also, the success chances are a bit higher than I thought when you factor in True Hit. It also increase the Brave Lance Method's lead, but I dunno... I guess I'll go back to it.

Naturally, Farina gets 2 crits on normal enemies Enemy Phase 1.
Farina levels. HP, SPD, Luck.
Misses the first, hits the second. Restart.

***************************

Hits both, no crit. Restart.

***************************

Miss both. Restart.

***************************

Hector levels. HP, STR, RES.
Ahahaha, there we go. Crit on first. Miss second. Restart.

***************************

Miss first. Hit second. Restart.

***************************

Hit both. Restart.

***************************

Hit both. Restart.

***************************

Oh, wow, she pulled it off. Crit first. Hit second. Farina levels. SPD, Luck, DEF.

Florina opens Ursula's Door.
Florina kills Ursula and levels. Luck.

So, yeah, as I've said I didn't take this too seriously, and have been pretty floored at how everyone else seems to be, except Epyon, who I figured would take this seriously just to laugh at us when he won by like 10 turns with that team. With that in mind, there is pretty much no reason my score of 202 should be anything but last. If you made me guess, I'd say the "winning" score would be around the 185 mark. 190 might be able to win, but I'd doubt it.

As for my thoughts on the Chapters:

1. Night of Farewells (28x)
2. Victory or Death (32)
3. Living Legend (23)

And I am still annoyed over the disaster that occurred in The Value of Life, that should have been the second best chapter and instead became quite possibly the worst. Jerme's chapter was also terrible.

All in all though, this wasn't much fun at all!

If you wanted my prediction on the results given what I know now, it'd be:

1. Kenri
2. CG7
3. Epyon
4. Me

Because with everyone else being super serious, I see it coming strictly down to teams, and I'm pretty sure Kenri has CG7 beat there. Epyon's team looks bad enough on the surface for me to wonder if he can even beat my score, but at the same time, I also maintain Epyon is more skilled than the rest of us combined and him winning outright is not something I'd count out (though probably unlikely given the level of effort being put in by everyone else)

Weird question here, are we allowed to intentionally skip characters we've drafted? Because recruiting Wallace would take way too much time in Four-Fanged Offense, but some of the language in the rules and during our chats about this imply that I'm obligated to recruit everyone I drafted. <_<

[Spoiler for FE7, click to show]Chapter 20

Hector: We're up against Darin. This is it, everybody. We've all worked so hard to get here. Let's not screw it up now!
Party: Yeah!
Hector: Yeah!
PONY37: ...
PONY37: who the fuck is darin?

[CANAS duels his worthy adversary, the SNIPER in the treasure room to the left of the starting point. Everyone else punches through the enemy's main lines. MARCUS destroys CAMERON and his entourage, while LYN is used as bait to alter an enemy cavalier's move so that it doesn't block the door.]

Lyn: there's a part of this plan i don't like
Fiora: It'll be okay! I didn't like the last plan, but it worked perfectly! You should have more faith in our tactician.
Lyn: with all due respect
Lyn: you didn't see what he did to guy
Fiora: ...you didn't either.
Lyn: ...
Lyn: anyway, me and my 3 HP are gonna be over here trying not to bleed out

[PONY37 warps in.]

PONY37: Dammit, you guys. Can't even make a dodge against an opponent that vastly outclasses you.
Fiora: I'm sure you'll think of something to get us out of this.
PONY37: I'm going to use you to draw their fire.
Fiora: ...
PONY37: ...
Fiora: But.
Fiora: Those are archers.
PONY37: Yes.
PONY37: That's why I'm using you as bait.
Fiora: .......
PONY37: quit fucking complaining and risk your life for my minor tactical advantage
Fiora: But-
PONY37: GODDAMN DOES EVERYONE AROUND HERE LOVE TO WHINE
PONY37: MATTHEW
Matthew: yo
PONY37: Fiora's being a baby. Can you sit on this forest and not die?
Matthew: consider it done
PONY37: Gotta go, I'm being paged.

[PONY37 warps in on ELIWOOD, KENT, SAIN, and DORCAS, who are trying to clear out the western treasure room.]

PONY37: If I had caller ID on this thing, whenever you four call me it would just say "incompetence".
Kent: The enemy mage is causing problems, tactician.
PONY37: maybe try getting some fucking SPD and not being a bitch, sain
Kent: Kent.
PONY37: Lowen.
Eliwood: I can only solo so many guys with these growths, you know.
PONY37: Eliwood, if you had 2 more movement, you would be...
PONY37: ...Well, you're already the third best unit I have, and you're not jumping Marcus or Hector any time soon.
PONY37: ...
PONY37: The point is that everyone in this room who isn't Eliwood is a worse draft pick than Chimney Imp.

[PONY37 warps in on MARCUS.]

PONY37: I see that Darin is dead.
Marcus: He should not have attacked me at range while I had handaxes equipped.
Fiora: Good job stealing all the experience, by the way.
PONY37: Fiora
PONY37: if you insult Marcus again
PONY37: I will give you an experience.
PONY37: It will involve a small cage in a very dark room.
PONY37: how does that sound for a fucking experience
Fiora: ...unpleasant
PONY37: and thus a lesson is learned

[HECTOR moves to seize the throne.]

Legault: Whoa whoa whoa hold up a second, you can't leave without me! I'm Legault! I'm like the last comic relief character you get in this game! I get into wacky antics and troll people during supports! Don't you want to recruit me?
PONY37: Legault, listen to me very carefully.
PONY37: If you were in Lyn's range, you would be recruited right now.
PONY37: If you were outside of Lyn's range but in Marcus' range, you'd be dead right now.
Legault: ...
PONY37: consider yourself lucky.

Turn count: 5

AAR: Well, I pretty much had the beginning of this chapter down to a science. Canas duels his worthy opponent. Eliwood, Kent, Sain, and Dorcas punch through the treasure room. Marcus destroys Cameron and his buddies. Lowen, Fiora, Marcus, and Hector punch through the throne room. It was that last part that gave me trouble every time. I really did have to use Lyn as bait; if nobody's in range, that cavalier stops in front of the door. As is, I could unlock the door with Marcus and move him into range of the boss as well as the shamans... though this meant leaving the nomad alive, which became problematic for my 3 HP Lyn, as well as Fiora and Matthew, who were also nearby. Complicating matters is the fact that I didn't send Dorcas to kill the longbow archer in the middle of the map, so he was pissing me off the whole time.

The end of this chapter was thus a long chain of a character showing up to rescue someone else, then ending up in grave danger and requiring rescue themselves, sort of like the scene where the Greil Mercs first appear in FE10. Fiora saved Lyn, but was in archer range, so Matthew drew the archer fire... and then next turn Fiora was in danger again, so Lowen rescued her, but was then slowed down enough that he'd be killed by the nomad, so Hector made like a 70% hit with a handaxe while moving towards the throne. Because Marcus got attacked at range on the enemy phase, he was easily able to kill Darin during player phase 4, allowing Hector to seize on player phase 5. I really wanted Legault for two reasons: his looted Barrier staff, and so he could find items for me in the desert, but it turns out you can buy Barrier staves in C22 - or I can, because I cleverly acquired the Member Card. So yeah, all in all that was fairly successful.

Chapter 21

PONY37: MARCUS
Marcus: Yes, tactician?
PONY37: YOU MUST CARRY FIORA TO THE OTHER END OF THE MAP, THEN DROP HER AND KILL THE BOSS
Marcus: ...but this is a city, and she can fly
PONY37: what's your point
Marcus: how can it possibly be faster for me to take her
PONY37: marcus
PONY37: i don't pay you to think
Marcus: You don't pay me at all.
PONY37: ...
PONY37: Well, I don't not pay you to think, either.

Turn count: 3

AAR: A boring chapter, but one that requires some planning if you want to get all the goodies. I had to compromise one of: getting the Elysian Whip, or visiting the second vendor and buying a Pure Water or two. The clear choice was the latter; the next Elysian Whip is way later in the game. Marcus had to make a clever movement involving being given Fiora on player phase 2, then maneuvering around enemies I couldn't see in the FoW, dropping Fiora, and moving into the boss range. Everyone else just trailed Marcus and did their best to get a bit of EXP, even using the arena when possible. I made a few mistakes on the last turn involving character movement, but all it would have allowed me to do is maybe get an extra 60ish EXP, so no big loss.

Chapter 22

Hector: All right guys, we need to defend Nils-
PONY37: Nope, nope, nope, not happening. Marcus! Isadora! Charge the boss.
Isadora: I'll get slaughtered.
PONY37: That is a risk I am willing to take.
Fiora: If anyone needs me, I'm gonna head due south and slaughter everything that gets in my way. Probably get some really awful levels for it, too.
PONY37: oh, so you plan those out in advance, then.
PONY37: wonderful

Turn count: 4

AAR: This is a fun chapter... and I'm not sure if I mean "fun" or actually fun. Isadora joins my party and is less competent than Marcus was at level 1, but more competent than Sain and Kent, so I consider it a wash. Hector needs to be ferried over to Heath to recruit him, mostly because I want that Axereaver for the next chapter, and because he's harder to kill than it's worth. Florina takes the Member Card over to the secret shop and buys a few Unlock staves, a Barrier staff, a few Chest Keys, and a Physic staff, all of which will be very, very useful in later chapters... maybe. The cavaliers took the left side of the map, Marcus and Isadora took the right side to kill the boss, and Fiora, Canas, and Dorcas headed due south to get as much EXP as possible, and rescue the other two groups if needed.

Chapter 23

PONY37: Canas and Fiora, head west immediately. Your job is to take out the nearest boss and everyone on the way and to collect the Body Ring while doing so.
Fiora: Sounds fun.
PONY37: prepare to be disappointed
Canas: HALP
Canas: HOW DOES I CAST MAGIC?
Canas: CRITTING IS HARD, GUYS
PONY37: my god were you a terrible draft pick. here, eat this.

[PONY37 throws a GUIDING RING at CANAS.]

Canas: that is a tremendously large ax that man is wielding
Fiora: you'd think that a big spear to the face would be enough to ground one of these wyverns.
Fiora: but it isn't.
PONY37: god
Pent: I'LL SAVE THE DAY!

[PENT charges the northmost boss.]

Pent: Is this a desert? 'Cause things are sure starting to heat up! ELFIRE!
Pent: Got a riddle for you. What's as dumb as it is flammable? ...You. ELFIRE!
Pent: I'm here to kick ass and cast Physic... and I don't have Physic yet. ELFIRE!
Boss: puny man talk too much
SFX: THWACK
Pent: ARGH
Wyvern rider: Are you a steak? Because you just got flanked.
SFX: STAB
Pent: DAUGH
PONY37: ...
Canas: ...
Fiora: ...
Pent: ...
Pent: Good luck, strangers!

[PENT runs off.]

PONY37: The worst part is that the wyvern was also wittier than he was.
Fiora: please tell me he's cannon fodder
PONY37: No, I drafted him.
Fiora: fuck.

Turn count: 5

AAR: This fucking chapter is entirely based on luck. If Pent is competent, it is so much easier. Not only that, Dorcas had to make at least one dodge on turn 1, Fiora and Canas only had collectively a handful of chances to unearth the Body Ring, and the bosses are very capable of hitting even Fiora with an Axereaver equipped, to say nothing of Canas. The only treasures I picked up were the Ocean Seal, to sell, and the Body Ring. I wanted the Light Brand, but it would be prohibitively hard to acquire. Eclipse and the Hero Crest would be nice to sell, but aren't worth really trying to get (and the Hero Crest is way out of the way anyway), and Ninian's Ring isn't gonna be of much use to me, so yeah. More importantly, I got some very good levels here, so I wasn't feeling much need to restart endlessly until Pent critted the boss for me and allowed me to maybe get 4 turns.

Chapter 24 - Lloyd version

PONY37: Okay listen up, here's the plan.
Lloyd: Yo.
PONY37: GET HIM
Lloyd: Wait, wha-

Turn count: 2

AAR: This is an annoying chapter. I really wanted to get that village, but it requires Fiora to first of all be equipped with a Slim Lance to survive Lloyd's attack, THEN dodge an attack from a sniper, and that was just not happening. If she was promoted, she'd have enough move to make it there from a safer route, but eh. I think it's just an Earth Seal anyway, which means I'd have just sold it. Wallace is obviously out of the question unless I want to add like 3 turns to my count. [/spoiler]

If it's determined that I need Wallace, I'll replay that chapter, no biggie.

[Spoiler for Draft, click to show]Chapter 14 finished in 5 turns by abusing NPC Erk, dropping him off in a forest to deal with the brigands while Rebecca killed the eastern soldiers (with a 3-meatshield entourage because she will seriously die to them otherwise) and Hector engaged the northern soldier and then moved south to fight the pirates and the lone cavalier. Marcus ripped up the middle of the map and killed the straggling brigand. I didn't even bother recruiting Erk as I have no anima users until chapter 28 and Priscilla is basically impossible to recruit.

Chapter 15 is piss easy, managed to get all the chests and kill Sealen, only enemy left on the map was a Fighter who Rebecca couldn't kill (of course). 8 turns for that. [/spoiler]

Chapter 11: 7 turns
Chapter 12: 5 turns
Chapter 13: 6 turns
Chapter 13x: 8 turns
Chapter 14: 5 turns
Chapter 15: 8 turns

Aww yeah tied with Kenri and xp so far, go team go!

...In addition to the Wallace thing, now need another rules clarification.

Breaking "the rules" results in a 4 turn penalty per chapter no matter how grievous or frequent the offense (except skipping a gaiden chapter, which we determined would result in like... a very large penalty and/or disqualification), correct?

My understanding is that outside something like skipping a Gaiden, where I think the policy is "make something up" because that's a rule "we" (Read: why did you do that to me guys) came up for this. That it's "4 turns per disallowed action" not "capped at 4 in a single chapter."

That is to say, if I used Kent to attack someone, and then used a Vulnerary to heal him after, I have taken an 8 turn penalty because I broke the rules twice. And that it'd be at 12 if I attacked with him again.

...You might be able to argue that the exact wording of the statement means that you can only be penalized for a single character (in that that above sequence would only cost me 4 turns because it was all Kent, but that if I then also attacked with Sain I'd be at 8 turns) but I'd consider that breaking the spirit of the rule and would argue vehemently that it should be ruled the way I expressed originally.

[Spoiler for FE7, click to show]Chapter 25

PONY37: Marcus, Hector. You are Team Strike Force. Your job is to punch through the cavaliers, take out Pascal, and secure that throne.
Hector: Got it.
Marcus: Understood.
PONY37: Eliwood, Dorcas. You are Team Lumberjack. Your job is to move through the forests, take out the Warrior sub-boss, and secure his throne.
Dorcas: Consider it done.
Eliwood: I'm a helper!
PONY37: Fiora, Canas. You are Team Darkmagic Eaglehawk. Your job is to fly across the lake, secure that village, punch through the monks, defeat the Bishop sub-boss, and secure his throne.
Fiora: Ready to fly at your command, tactician.
Canas: But
Canas: But light magic beats dark magic!
PONY37: They're monks. They're like Waddle Dees, except Waddle Dees have the capability to inflict damage.
Canas: :(
PONY37: JUST DO IT CANAS
Sain, Kent, Lowen, Isadora: What's our team?
PONY37: You guys are Team I-Can't-Fucking-Trust-You-With-Anything-Difficult-So-Stand-Around-And-Try-Not-To-Muck-Things-Up.
PONY37: Except Kent. He's gonna stand by the shore and fight any pirate that gets close.
Kent: I'm contributing!

Turn count: 5

AAR: This was a tough chapter to plan out. You really need at least two characters on each team, to punch through the reinforcements. That said, characters except Marcus and Hector are not pro enough to handle Pascal's cavalry, much less Pascal himself, so they were the obvious choices there. I tried with Marcus alone; he can't handle it fast enough. What this means for me is that I lose out on buying a Killer Lance at the rock bottom price of 20,000 gold. Eliwood and Dorcas were a natural fit for the wooded area because they don't get slowed down as much as the horses, and never suffer WTD. Eliwood can pretty much solo that area; Dorcas is really just around to help a bit. Fiora is obviously going to be flying to the last throne, but Canas is sort of an odd choice for a helper. He has enough DEF/HP to survive the pirates, and despite WTA, the monks cannot hurt him, so he really works quite well.

The thing to remember for this chapter is that you're only as fast as your slowest team, which in this case is Eliwood/Dorcas. There's no point trying to rush the other teams if it won't help you actually win any faster. If you had two or more fliers, 4 turns would not be a problem here, but I think 5 turns is the best I can manage with my team.

Chapter 26

PONY37: ANOTHER DEFEND MAP
PONY37: URGH
Hector: Maybe we can end it early by killing the boss?
PONY37: I don't think that's a good idea. Let's just stick to killing the wyverns-
Pent: HAHA! I WAS BORN TO KILL WYVERNS! LEAVE IT TO ME!

[PENT charges in and torches a wyvern.]

Pent: Toasty!

[3 seconds later, he is killed by VAIDA.]

Hector: ...
Fiora:
Kent:
PONY37: -one at a time and never by charging them. Because that might happen.
Fiora: Is this an example of that theory you were telling me about? Natural selection?
PONY37: Yes, Fiora.
PONY37: It is.

[One restart later... ISADORA charges towards the village to clear out everything in the way, with MARCUS trailing her while carrying MATTHEW to steal the KNIGHT CREST. FIORA gets the village then pulls back to evacuate ISADORA, while MARCUS and MATTHEW take the long way around. DORCAS, CANAS, and LOWEN are on south-east wyvern duty; PENT, KENT, and SAIN run around doing whatever, and ELIWOOD solos all the wyverns in the top half of the map.]

Eliwood: HALP
Eliwood: I NEED PHYSICS
PONY37: we all need physics
PONY37: it is an essential part of life
Eliwood: ...
Eliwood: HALP
Eliwood: I NEED PHYSICS
PONY37: Don't Physic him, he'll never learn if you do.
Pent: But-
PONY37: I SWEAR TO GOD PENT I AM THIS CLOSE TO TRADING YOU TO EPYON FOR GEITZ
Pent: ...Who's Epyon? Or Geitz?
PONY37: ...
Pent: ...
PONY37: god i hate you
Pent: No, my name is "Pent". But you can call me God if you like!
PONY37: ...
PONY37: ......
PONY37: Charge Vaida.
Pent: Okay!
Hector: NO STOP
Hector: GODDAMMIT PONY37

[As the turns dwindle down, the number of wyverns increases dramatically.]

Dorcas: We're gonna need more axe.
PONY37: Dorcas, I am impressed slash pleased that you finally decided to become more competent.
PONY37: Maybe now I'll actually keep you alive instead of killing you off before C27.
Dorcas: What was that?
PONY37: I said, I've decided not to kill you off.
Dorcas: Oh.
Dorcas: Awesome.

Turn count: 12

AAR: This chapter can be obnoxious. The massive amount of wyvern reinforcements can overwhelm just about any of my characters, except Marcus and Hector, and I don't really want them stealing the EXP right now. Luckily Dorcas and Canas can absolutely murder wyverns and tank a few hits each, so they made up my main anti-wyvern force. Aside from that, getting Matthew to the cavalier with the Knight Crest to steal it was interesting, but not too bad, because Base Matthew can still tank 1 hit from most enemies, 26 chapters into the game. FE7 HNM, what a bunch of lol. I also got Pent in this chapter, which is great, because he's possibly my strongest non-Marcus, non-Hector unit, and more importantly, he can toss Physics to people (except Eliwood who does not deserve them for getting hit like 4 times in a row at 45%). [Spoiler for FE7, click to show]Chapter 27

Dorcas: Well this looks... horrible.
PONY37: You are the reason we are here, Dorcas.
PONY37: you are to blame for this.
Dorcas: I'm... sorry?
PONY37: SORRY DOESN'T MELT THE SNOW DORCAS
Pent: We're making Snow Dorcases now?
PONY37: ...
PONY37: yes pent that is exactly what we're doing
Pent: Best. Day. Ever.
PONY37: ...
PONY37: ......
PONY37: Those snipers want to stop us from making Snow Dorcases.
Pent: WHAT
PONY37: GO GET 'EM PENT
Pent: OKAY

[PENT runs off.]

Hector: Those snipers are no match for him. What's your angle?
PONY37: Nothing here can pose even a remote threat to him.
Hector: Ah.
PONY37: More over, if you need to throw a ball for a dog so he'll catch a rabbit for you, you just throw the damn ball rather than trying to train him to catch rabbits without it.
Hector: So, what, we're just dogs to you?
PONY37: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
PONY37: noooooooooo
PONY37: if you were dogs i'd feel some sense of companionship
Hector: ...
PONY37: Now go run through the bitter snow as quickly as you can.

Turns: Like 11 or 12?

AAR: I hate this chapter.

http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/596/c27plan.png

there is my fucking after-action report. DEAL WITH IT. (deal with my stupid color choices)

I don't even know how many turns it took me because Fiora won on the enemy phase with a crit. Think it was 11 or 12, though, because Karel had just appeared.

I'm pretty sure I could lower my turn count by one or two turns if I replayed this and planned better, but uh... You're gonna be so limited by the snow that you'd really need to actually map out movement square by square to really optimize it, and I just don't have that kind of patience. I was fine with running C17 over and over because it was linear and I could continually hone in on small improvements; getting to that level of optimization here would require more OCD than I currently possess.

Incidentally, while I want that Brave Sword so badly, getting Harken here is pretty much impossible. My plan is to basically have won by turn 10, and so killing less than 2 promoted enemies or opening less than 4 doors (whichever it is) is just not gonna happen. I honestly didn't even recruit Karel, either.

Fiora also hit level 20 and was promoted.

Chapter 28

Hector: Okay guys, we've gotta save Prince Zephiel!
PONY37: Let him die.
Hector: ...what
PONY37: I'm not even being my usual self right now. You should really just trust me on this.
Hector: No, that's not gonna happen.
PONY37: Your funeral.

[ISADORA, CANAS, LOWEN, and MATTHEW head down the west side of the map.]

Isadora: Barely defended at all. It's almost like...
PONY37: Yeah this is a trap.
Maxime: SURPRISE
Isadora: you could have told me about this ahead of time, tactician
PONY37: yes, isadora
PONY37: i could have

[PONY37 warps in on KENT, SAIN, DORCAS, MARCUS, ELIWOOD, HECTOR, FIORA, and PENT, who are heading down the other side.]

PONY37: Who here can survive magic?

[MARCUS, FIORA, and PENT raise their hands.]

PONY37: Marcus, go save Zephiel, since you guys insist on doing that. Fiora, head due south to fight Ursula. Pent, stand by to heal Fiora.
Fiora: Got it.
Marcus: Understood.
Pent: This is a waste of my talents.

[FIORA heads south and confronts URSULA.]

Fiora: Surrender!
Ursula: Burn.
Fiora: Not Bern, Ilia!
Ursula: ...
Ursula: .........

[URSULA sets FIORA on fire.]

Fiora: augh!
Fiora: i forgot how much fire hurts

[PONY37 warps in on URSULA.]

PONY37: Excuse me, is your magic tome Bolting?
Ursula: ...Yes, I suppose it is.
PONY37: Well then you'd better catch it.
Ursula: ...
Ursula: ......................

[URSULA falls over dead.]

PONY37: are you happy you forced me to say that, fiora
Fiora: that joke was pretty painful
Fiora: ...
Fiora: not as much as being set on fire, though

[PONY37 warps in on NINO and JAFFAR.]

PONY37: Against my better judgment...
PONY37: Nino. Talk to Jaffar.
Nino: What about?
PONY37: Nino.
PONY37: I honestly couldn't care less.

Turns: 16

AAR: So this chapter. Normally it's a pain in my ass, but being a defend map actually meant I got to chillax here and not rush things much at all. I killed Ursula at around turn 8 or 9 to halt the reinforcements. Normally I do that because I can't stand this fucking horrible chapter, but for a run like this, where chances to get EXP are limited, I normally would milk the reinforcements for all they're worth. However, I got some really, really good level ups during the first 8 turns of this map. Like, the level ups were so good, I assumed the attempt was just doomed with no way to salvage it, because normally I never get amazing level ups during successful runs. So I decided to not push my luck, and just ended the chapter early.

Matthew and a cavalier with a Chest Key collected all the treasure. Jaffar made friends with a lot of Swordslayer-wielding enemies. And, against my better judgment... yes, I accepted C28x. Terrible. What an awful trio of chapters, 27-28x.

Also, Dorcas is now promoted (from level 20), but it's hard to get excited about that.

Chapter 28x

PONY37: Fiora. Do you understand the plan?
Fiora: We've been over it 20 times.
PONY37: DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE PLAN FIORA
Fiora: You can trust me.
PONY37: ...
PONY37: We'll see.

[HECTOR eats a PURE WATER while FIORA gets Barrier'd by PENT. Then FIORA - equipped with a Brave Lance, Javelin, Elixir, Pure Water, and Delphi Shield - flies straight towards SONIA.]

Fiora: My will is PONY37's will!
Fiora: NO WYVERN CAN STOP ME!

[FIORA smashes through the wyverns while being dropped to 10 HP.]

Fiora: I'M COMING, SONIA!
PONY37: Not good... She's lost too much health, and she's gonna be attacked by two wyverns and Sonia on this enemy phase.
Dorcas: What does that mean in real people speak?
PONY37: Means I couldn't trust her AT ALL and she is a liar.

[FIORA dodges everything.]

Fiora: Four attacks. Two more than necessary.

[FIORA crits SONIA twice on 9% chances, conserving those Brave Lance uses. She then casually walks away from the throne.]

Fiora: All yours.
Hector: ...
Hector: Marry me.

Turns: 5

AAR: ONE. FUCKING. ATTEMPT. And Fiora got STR in like three out of four level ups. I feel like 4 turns is possible here, but would require more effort than I'm willing to put in. In other news, Eliwood is promoted now (from level 20). [/spoiler]

[Spoiler for FE7, click to show]Chapter 29

PONY37: Oh, lord.
Hector, Eliwood, Lyn: Yes?
PONY37: Not you.
Matthew: Yes?
PONY37: Fuck you, you're not even a lord in this continuity.
Hector: ...So-
PONY37: Moving on, I want everyone to know that this chapter is gonna suck.
Hector: Don't they all?
PONY37: We're going to rely on Eliwood to solo a fourth of the map.
Eliwood: Oh dear, that's the sound of us being screwed...
PONY37: You have a horse now. and like the best stats of the entire party. I am confident you can manage. Head north and don't stop until everything is dead.
Eliwood: welp.
PONY37: Fiora!
Fiora: Hello.
PONY37: You're heading due west to get that village, then straight up to kill the boss and everyone near him.
Fiora: Got it.
PONY37: Hector, Marcus. You need to wait by the start.
Hector: Why's that?
PONY37: JUST DO IT HECTOR
Hector: FINE
PONY37: EVERYONE ELSE
PONY37: Your job is to punch through the center of the map.
PONY37: Despite being the largest group, and in fact large enough that the enemy will barely ever even outnumber you, you are still the group that is far and away most likely to fail. That being said, Kent! Sain! Lowen! IT'S MORPHING TIME

[PONY37 throws KNIGHT CRESTS at them.]

Sain: YESSSSS
Kent: I feel moderately more competent!
Lowen: This isn't even a Knight Crest. This is just a rock with the word "Knight Crest" on it.
PONY37: Lowen, Lowen, Lowen...
PONY37: In your case, it really does not matter.

[FIORA challenges LINUS.]

Fiora: Okay buddy, I'm gonna level with you.
Fiora: According to my tactician, I'm level 20. I'm as strong as possible, as skilled as possible, and as fast as possible. The lance I'm wielding will let me stab you eight times in 6 seconds.
Fiora: There is no shame in just giving up and leaving.
Linus: ...
Linus: I still think I can take you.

[0.2 seconds later...]

Linus: ...not my best decision.
Fiora: No, it really wasn't.

Turns: 7

AAR: Another chapter that's way too non-linear and stupid for me to retry it for complete optimization. First of all, your ability to complete the level quickly depends on the reinforcements, and I'm not willing to look up a turn-by-turn list of reinforcements and plan around that. Second of all... No, actually, that's really the whole of it; reinforcements are fucking stupid and I don't like them even when playing through the game normally.

Kent, Sain, and Lowen got promoted before the chapter began, but really, they're just not relevant anymore. Isadora and Eliwood are ****ing pro though. They've got like +3 over their averages on the stats that matter (STR and SPD), it's great.

In other news, we have the Warp Staff now and I'm gonna abuse the fuck out of it. Also, my first attempt here was like 13 turns, it was very dumb and just not acceptable. After retrying and actually leaving some units behind to deal with the wyverns, you can see that I pretty much halved the turn count of my dry run.

Chapter 30

Eliwood: HECTOR
Hector: WHAT
Eliwood: I AM THE ONLY ONE STRONG ENOUGH TO CARRY YOU
Hector: ...
Hector: ......
Hector: goddammit

[ELIWOOD lifts up HECTOR with one hand and holds him over his head.]

Eliwood: NOW
Eliwood: WE RIDE
PONY37: No, that's too slow. PENT!
Pent: What up?
PONY37: Warp 'em.
Pent: Can do!

[PENT warps ELIWOOD, who is carrying HECTOR, halfway across the map.]

Eliwood: Oh god. We're never doing that again, Eliwood.
Hector: But it was awesome!
Eliwood: ...
Hector: ...
Eliwood: GODDAMMIT PENT
Pent: I should have mentioned that I'm only supposed to warp one person at a time.
PONY37: No, this works. It's even better, actually.

Turns: 5

AAR: Trivia - did you know that none of my Paladins can carry promoted Hector? I knew Fiora wouldn't be able to, but REALLY? Fuck you, game. Fuck your stupid Con/Aid system that makes no goddamn sense.

Well. What this means for us is that Eliwood's new job is to carry around Hector with his 7 move, and Pent's new job is spamming the fuck out of Warp. Luckily, Victory or Death is the only remaining "big" map.

Chapter 31

PONY37: god
Hector: Okay everyone, sure up those defenses! Don't let anything through!
PONY37: No, we're not doing that. We need EXP. Everyone, rush the enemy.
Hector: But shouldn't we-
PONY37: The enemies have poison weapons, and everything from here on is going to be completed as quickly as possible. We need EXP right now. GET TO IT.
Hector: FINE
Hector: I'LL GO KILL LIKE 80 GUYS
Hector: geez

Turns: 12

AAR: Normally I'd kill Denning as quickly as possible to get this stupid chapter over with, but we really do need EXP. Last real opportunity, right here.

Chapter 31x

PONY37: ...
PONY37: I can't believe I've had to restart this fucking chapter more times than Night of Farewells.
Hector: What was that?
PONY37: Nothing. Pent, to the arena.
Pent: ROCK OUT

[PENT enters the arena.]

Pent: HALP
Pent: ARROWS HURT, GUYS
PONY37: asdf

Turns: 6

AAR: Between Pent fucking up in the arena and Merlinus running out of room, I really did have to restart this chapter like 8 times. Fuck.

Chapter 32

PONY37: Eliwood, grab Hector. Pent, warp 'em. Fiora, grab Pent and follow. Spam the hell out of Warp.
Eliwood: These enemies are TOUGH when you're carrying someone who weighs like a thousand pounds.
Hector: Eliwood-
Eliwood: LOSE SOME WEIGHT

Turns: 6

AAR: Fiora can't carry Hector anymore, so we really did have to do it like this. Eliwood grabs Hector and gets Warped on turn 1. Fiora grabs Pent and follows. Eventually they bust through the front lines, drop their buddies, and Pent Warps Hector over to the boss. Fiora follows and kills said boss, Hector then seizes. It is not as easy as it sounds. Eliwood can die really easily, as can Hector. Meanwhile, Isadora and Marcus are going to get their buddy Renault, and the rest of the party is heading to the Talisman village.

5 turns is possible with this strategy, but Fiora would need to get like two crits at around 10% chance, and the strategy is finicky enough without worrying about that.

Chapter 32x

PONY37: Okay, we're gonna use scry-and-die tactics here. Pent, you will be doing the scrying.
Pent: YES
PONY37: If you fuck up, you'll also be doing the dying.
Pent: wait, what?

Turns: 1

AAR: Pent Warps Fiora over to Kishuna. Fiora crits Kishuna and kills him. The end.

Final Chapter

PONY37: All right, let's rock and roll. Hector, Eliwood, Athos, Canas, Marcus, Isadora, Pent, Kent, Fiora, Dorcas vs. Lloyd, Linus, Uhai, Darin, Kenneth, Brendan, Ursula, and Jerme!
Pent: Who do I get to kill first?!
PONY37: No one 'cause you're on healing duty!
Pent: DAMMIT
Hector: We seem pretty evenly matched, here.
PONY37: You mean except for Uhai, Darin, Linus, and especially Lloyd, who can wreck us easily?
Hector: ...Yes, aside from-
PONY37: I hate all of you.
PONY37: OKAY
PONY37: GOTTA SALVAGE THIS SHIT
PONY37: Athos, Pent, hit Uhai with Bolting. Marcus, Tomahawk for the kill.
Marcus: Done.
PONY37: Okay, we're over the first hurdle, then. Hector, you're gonna stall Darin until Athos and Pent arrive to help.
Hector: Gotcha.
PONY37: Canas, Ursula and Jerme are jobbers.
Canas: So am I!
PONY37: Exactly, it's a perfect match.

[CANAS crits JERME and URSULA to OHK them both.]

PONY37: ...
PONY37: welp.
Canas: it is over yet
PONY37: Eliwood, you're up against Brendan.
Eliwood: No problem.
PONY37: Isadora, when Eliwood fucks up, go help him.
Isadora: Got it.
Eliwood: Hey!
PONY37: Fiora, soloing Kenneth and his buddies is on you.
Fiora: Right.
PONY37: At which point Eliwood heads max north and the rest of you descend on Lloyd and Linus.

[The plan goes quite well.]

Fiora: Um...
Marcus: This could be...
Kent: ...A problem.
Fiora: Lloyd and Linus are way, way, way too tough for us.
PONY37: god. Fiora, I'm supposed to be able to trust you! Athos, bail us out here.
Athos: How?
PONY37: You're a legendary hero, figure something out.
Athos: ...

[ATHOS crits LLOYD with Bolting on like a 2% chance.]

PONY37: ....................
PONY37: Athos.
PONY37: You are the best. Unit. Ever.

[After defeating LLOYD and LINUS, NERGAL appears.]

Nergal: COME AT ME BROS
Eliwood: EN GARDE!

[ELIWOOD owns NERGAL.]

PONY37: You know... Nergal, you look kinda familiar.
Nergal: Yes, PONY37. That's because...

[NERGAL throws back his hood.]

Nergal: I AM PONY38!
PONY37: ...
Nergal: ...
PONY37: ...
Nergal: ...
PONY37: No you're not, get the fuck outta here.

Turns: 5 + 1

AAR: This chapter was HARD for my team. Needed some inventive uses of Bolting and other resources to win, plus Athos bailing me out there with that low chance Bolting crit (which actually was not enough to OHK Lloyd, but dropped him to 1 HP). Uhai is also a real bullshit boss; Athos and Pent using Bolting plus Marcus with the Tomahawk was the only good method I could find (Fiora was needed elsewhere), and even that required like three hits at 75%. Darin has too much defense to be reliably taken out by anyone except Pent and Athos. Luckily the entire west side of the room is cake for the units I assigned to it; even if Canas hadn't gotten really lucky, he wouldn't have been in any real danger there. Eliwood ORKs Nergal, just absolutely murders him, so that's great.

For the record, I used Door Keys and Unlock Staves to cut down on turn count, though it wasn't completely optimized; I think 4 or maybe even 3 turns is possible for part 1. But your units would have to be stronger than mine are or very, very lucky.

I couldn't crit kill the dragon, but Athos + Canas + Eliwood + Hector can deal a little over 120 damage, so it was not a problem.

Chapter 16 was pretty easy. Rescue Hector on turn 1 with Marcus and speed him along to the gate as fast as possible, have him toss javelins or hand axes to kill stuff on the way. Lyn sells her blue gem and buys lots of javelins and hand axes while Rebecca duels a Pegasus Knight and Wil tries his best to kill a mercenary. I had Florina visit the west village and Sain visited the other village on the final turn. Hector was dropped off on turn 4 by Marcus, and on turn 5 Marcus doubled Bauker with his silver lance and Hector seized. Wil failed to kill the mercenary he was fighting while Rebecca managed to kill the pegasus knight and dent another mercenary, a grim sign of things to come.

So... I might as well give my thoughts on this whole experience.

First of all, I should note that the team I drafted is completely fantastic and you guys should not have let me get away with that. >_> Isadora and Eliwood were the steals of the entire draft imo; Eliwood, especially, being the only mounted character on my team capable of carrying Promoted!Hector. Wallace was kind of an awful choice but so was everyone else at that point. For the record, here are the stats and their averages for a few of my best units:

Eliwood
20/17

HP 54 (Average 50)
STR 27 (MAX) (Average 22.75)
SKL 23 (Average 22.5)
SPD 24 (MAX) (Average 22)
Luck 23 (Average 22.75)
DEF 13 (Average 16.5)
RES 19 (Average 15.25)

Fiora w/ Afa's Drops at level 16ish
20/20

HP 48 (Average 48.4)
STR 23 (MAX) (Average 21.2)
SKL 25 (MAX) (Average MAX)
SPD 28 (MAX) (Average MAX)
Luck 18 (Average 15.6)
DEF 15 (Average 14.4)
RES 23 (Average 25)

Isadora
--/20

HP 52 w/ Angelic Robe (Average 42.25)
STR 23 (MAX) (Average 18.7)
SKL 18 (Average 18.65)
SPD 25 (MAX) (Average MAX)
Luck 17 (Average 18.55)
DEF 13 (Average 11.8)
RES 10 (Average 10.75)

Marcus
--/20

HP 45 (Average 43.35)
STR 22 (Average 20.7)
SKL 26 (MAX) (Average 24.5)
SPD 16 (Average 15.75)
Luck 16 (Average 13.7)
DEF 12 (Average 12.85)
RES 13 (Average 14.65)

As for the playthrough itself, it was pretty interesting to tackle the game in a completely new way! The defend chapters were awful (as were chapters like C27 Jerme), but I had a lot of fun figuring out how to efficiently run through the other chapters. And I'm sure I'll be kicking myself for weeks to come when I come up with superior strategies than the ones I actually used (this has already happened a few times). Not sure where I'll stand in the overall rankings; I feel like I fully optimized a lot of the chapters, but there's definitely room for improvement there, especially if you end up in Kenneth's chapter instead of Jerme's.

and now i am never going to play this particular game ever again

We have a dice feature on TFN, actually.

Holy crap! I totally forgot about this.

During your run, you are expected to keep track of your total turn count and report often on your progress in some detail. If you don't, it might be mistaken for inactivity and thus grounds for disqualification.

*cough*

Chapter 17 is pretty simple. After Wil and Rebecca take down a myrmidon, Hector runs up to a knight to kill it while Marcus javelins the hell out of enemies up ahead. Second turn has Hector being rescued by Marcus and ferried to the end. Hilariously I reach the boss room on the turn that Raven gets let out. Rebecca and Wil stay way back at the start and pick off enemies slowly.

Absolutely.

I hear the "7" in FE7 stands for the amount of months you're allowed to have in-between status updates.

That means I could extend this tournament for about 12 years if I play my cards right.

This is delicious!
