[Spoiler for Kyo's story, Mission 17 - Raid on Elpis, click to show]
Okay, this mission is a pain in the ass, and EASILY the hardest mission so far.
Winning condition: All units reach the Elpis space station (four squares on the opposite side of the map).
Losing condition: Any unit is shot down.
So I'm essentially playing Fire Emblem here, which is fine until you realize that most of the time, in Fire Emblem, your characters survive because you put them in situations where the enemy's accuracy is less than 5%.
Here, you can NEVER expect your enemy's accuracy to drop below about 50%, unless you're using a skill or the unit being targeted is Excellen.
Speaking of which, after about 6 unsuccessful tries where a unit got shot down right before they could escape (usually after being hit twice in a row by enemies with 30%ish hit rates), I decided to only deploy Excellen and just let everyone target and miss her while the Hiryu Custom escaped, then let Excellen escape and win the mission.
I am extremely annoyed, though, at how cheap this strategy was. It kinda felt like cheating. And now Excellen is overleveled. So I might have to go back and try it many more times until I can win in a non-cheaty way.

| [Spoiler for Elebits, click to show]
Beat Elebits today. Short game, though it took me over a year to finish. >_> 29 missions in all, which is a weird number, I'm kinda wondering if there's a secret 30th mission...
Final boss was lame. Two forms, one was a "ghost" Elebit that was easily defeated by smacking it with any number of random objects that were around. For the second form, a super robot appeared from a secret tunnel for some reason and the Elebit possessed it and attacked.
...
Yeah, I have no idea.
Anyway. You beat that form by unscrewing the six bolts holding it together, while it shoots at you and tries to smash you. Did I mention how much I hate the "turning doorknobs" mechanic? This was essentially that, so it was very irritating. Still beat it on the first try, though.
Ending was rather ho-hum (aside from the randomly appearing super robot) - the ghost Elebit turns back into a real Elebit and befriends the kid, the kid doesn't dislike Elebits anymore, kid reunites with parents, etc.
I give Elebits a 7/10. Pretty good, not amazing. I'd buy a sequel. Probably.

| Radiant Dawn. Oh yes.
[Spoiler for FE10, click to show]
Prologue
Okay, Prologue, and I note there are like 8 enemies. Which is different from the other prologues with like 2 enemies. Even if one of those enemies was BATTA THE BEAST.
Anyway, it's a prologue, so I still kicked some ass fairly easily. Micaiah's sorta neat, though her lordiness is reminiscent of Eirika, and not in a good, incestuous way.
(Note to self: Coin the term "lordiness".)
So anyway, chapter 1 proper.
Escape in 10 turns. I dislike FE escape missions, they prevent me from sticking around and killing everything and getting lots of experience.
Radiant Dawn is hard. Like, really hard. Enemies have 60-75% hit rates against my Myrmidon and Archer. This be not good. And Sothe is being a dick and not helping me.
Rhetorical: Why are Begnion acting like such colossal failures? I thought they were being lead by the cute loli girl, not this Mr. RAWR-I'MMA-STAB-YOU jackass.
So anyway, I round up the Scooby Gang and bring 'em all to the chokepoint near the boss and pray he doesn't move into my base and start killin' my dudes. I save here (lol in battle saving... I'm a wimp, so sue me) and attack the boss and his lackey. It's turn ten by now, and I move Micaiah (whose name is impossible to spell) to the escape point and kill the boss from there... And then she doesn't leave.
D'oh.
Okay, restart. This time I needed to be significantly more aggressive to get out in time. I kill the boss with Leonardo and Micaiah on turn nine and have everyone escape by turn ten.
Next mission is infiltrating a castle... Ooh, treasure. Apparently Sothe is still being a prick and not helping me for some unknown reason, but meh, I don't care. I'll build my own Sothe! With hookers! And blackjack! ...In fact, forget the Sothe and the blackjack!
Still feeding Micaiah experience... Goddamn, this girl's HP does not want to increase. Which sucks, because she can't dodge for crap yet. First Angelic Robe I find, she's using.
WTF BBQ enemies can jump the ledges? Damn you gravity!
Okay, so on the enemy's turn, Sothe is all like "im in ur base, pickin ur lox". ...I've made that joke already, huh? Anyway... I kill a few enemies and realize I'm basically screwed, since there's no way to cover Micaiah, Laura (new character, healer, etc), and Leonardo (archer). I foresee a reset in the near future.
And my healer gets killed. Game over. -_-
Fuck you, Radiant Dawn.
On a side note, I'm using the sideways Wiimote to control this, which is annoying because 1 is back and 2 is accept. Which is, you know, the exact opposite of what it should be.
Okay, so I do the thing with the people and the killing and the healing, etc etc etc.
Eventually Sothe appears and starts kicking ass because he's goddamn Sothe. He does not own a castle, he just goes into random castles and people die.
It occurs to me a bit late that since Sothe is getting literally, like, 2 experience from each kill, I should probably stop letting him kill people.
So make my way upwards and onwards, I hide my healer behind my other dudes, and far enough away to avoid any archer that might decide to rush my group and become an hero.
Then an archer doubles my healer by shooting through the wall and LOL GAME OVER
...
YOU CAN'T SHOOT THROUGH A GODDAMN WALL. IT'S A WALL
GAH
Screw this for now, more when I'm less cranky. o_-

Okay, so a couple more tries that ended in failure, and I finally decided to climb the walls instead of going up the stairs. I took Sothe's weapons and stuck him in various chokepoints so Micaiah or Leonardo could pick off all the enemies one by one.
Nolce... Noice? Noishe? Whatever. Guy-With-Axe helped Sothe with walling the enemies while hurting them enough for Micaiah to kill.
Reinforcements arrived, but luckily Micaiah and Leonardo were there to wall them at the climbable walls... Leading to the following scene:
Leonardo: It's over, Begnion dog! I have the high ground!
Soldier: You underestimate my power!
*Micaiah and Leonardo rain fiery death from above*
Anyway... Made my way to the boss, killing all the enemies and taking all the treasure, and Micaiah eventually used Thani to inflict like 33 damage on the boss and kill him. Then Laura escaped and I won.

[Spoiler for FE10, click to show]
Okay, the next level I needed to restart like 29834946 times, so I'll skip the details and just say that Armor Knights got massacred by Thani.
Next level was by far the easiest non-prologue level so far, it was a small map with an isolated "island" in the center that gives shortcut to the rest of the map if you bust down some walls. Using chokepoints and firing through walls at Laguz when they weren't in beast form, I made quick work of all the fodder enemies and one of the bosses. I then tried about five times to send Sothe to the other boss, around him, and to gather up all the treasure so my dudes could kill the bastard. But being a jerk, he ignored Sothe completely and attacked my other guys, so I was eventually forced to send a strike team of Ilyana, Aran, and Edward around the entire map and into the other corner to nab the treasures, while Sothe kept the boss preoccupied at a chokepoint.
Then I finished him off, and quite easily.
I've found myself using the "stick weaponless Sothe in a chokepoint with Micaiah and a healer nearby and stalemate or kill every enemy that comes at me one by one" strategy in almost every level, and have thereby given it a name worthy of its great use - I call it the "Wall of Pain", because it's probably quite painful for Sothe. That'll teach him to suck in FE9.
Rankings of how much I like the characters so far:
Leonardo > Aran > Ilyana > Nolan > Edward > Micaiah > Sothe > Laura >>> Meg
Leonardo is pretty. Like, really pretty. And he kicks a fair amount of ass now that he's not useless anymore.
Also, ZOMG HOT LAGUZ WOMAN

| My Nolan sucks, but Edward and Leonardo kickass. I had them support each other, and they're rocking.
Anyway, Meg is useless, Laura is only useful as being a Cleric in the first part, and Aran is pretty good. Won't be as good as Nephenee later, though.
And Micaiah is redonkulous. She's like what's her face from FE6, Hector's daughter. It's a shame she's so brittle, but she's far better than Ilyana.

Yeah, Ilyana has been sucking so far, though she can double some enemies that Micaiah can't and tends to crit far more often than her 10% chance would suggest. It's a shame, considering she rocked my socks in FE9. Not as much as Soren, but still.
I supported Nolan with Leonardo, though I'm thinking I should've done Leonardo/Edward like everyone else in the world. I only didn't because Edward likes to buzz around the field picking people off, while I generally have Leonardo and Nolan move more slowly and wall enemies.

Okay so I forget how many missions I've done since my last writeup. A few, I think. The mission I just finished was 1-7, where I had to rescue a bunch of prisoners. Which was annoying, because I had to cover like 4 chokepoints at once, which meant actually using prepromotes and Laguz and getting like 2 EXP when they killed people. >_<
The mission also featured the following scene:
Sothe: Okay, these Begnion soldiers have given us trouble in the past. We're going to have Tauroneo and his team move around and create a diversion at the front, then sneak in the back way, kill them, get the prisoners, kill the boss, and get out. Leonardo, stick with Nolan and cover the gaps - we don't need any guys sneaking up on us from below. Laura, stay on call for Mend whenever we get hurt. Micaiah, you're with me. Everyone else, use the weapon triangle to your advantage. So, what are our chances?
Micaiah: I'm foreseeing a 15.333 - repeating, of course - chance of success.
Sothe: Okay, well that's a hell of a lot better than we usually do, so-
Tormod: ALL RIGHT GUYS, I'M BACK. LET'S DO THIS. TOOOOORMOOOOOODDD JENKIIIIINS!
Micaiah: ...
Tauroneo: ...
Fiona: ...
Sothe: ...Ohmygodhejustranin.
There are just so many games that can apply to.
Anyway. I won, the sun wishes it was as hot as Vika, etc etc. At the base now, where I got the following statement (paraphrased):
Vika: Something about when I'm near you, Micaiah, makes me all jumpy. I admire you, but at the same time, there's something else...
...
Thank you, Fire Emblem.

I redid the last mission because I wasn't pleased with my last performance (and because I realized I should've taken Jill instead of Ilyana - d'oh). Did a lot better this time, on average my guys are 1 level higher each thanks to not having to use prepromotes as much.
The conversation I was talking about:
Vika: Hm... I wonder where Boss is? These tents all look the same...
Micaiah: Hello, Vika. Can I help you?
Vika: Meep!
[Vika tries to leave]
Micaiah: Vika!
[Vika returns]
Vika: ...
Micaiah: You always run away from me... Did I do something to offend you?
Vika: No, I'm so sorry. I can't explain why this happens. I get so jumpy around you. There's just...something about you.
Micaiah: Oh...
Vika: Oh, but please don't be sad! It's not you. It's me.
Vika: I get...confused...sometimes. I really admire you, and then I get a bizarre feeling, and...
Micaiah: It's all right. Sorry to bother you.
Vika: ...No. Wait.
Micaiah: Hm?
Vika: I want to overcome this. I don't like that I feel I must avoid you for some inexplicable reason.
Micaiah: But...
Vika: I know how painful it is to be...feared. I'm really, really sorry. Let's be friends, OK? If you can forgive me, that is...
Micaiah: Of course I forgive you! Thank you, Vika. I'd be honored to have your friendship.
Vika: Here. Take this as a token of that friendship.
[Vika moves closer to Micaiah]
Vika: Please, take it. I'd like you to have it.
Micaiah: What a beautiful figurine. The goddess looks so serene.
Vika: Carry it with you. It'll bring you good luck. I met my boss and Muarim thanks to that figurine.
Micaiah: Thank you, Vika. I'll cherish it.
Vika: I'm glad you like it.
*You got an Ashera Icon!*
...Yeah.
I enjoyed this conversation because Vika said "Meep!"

Micaiah: I'm level 20, I have several high level Light tomes, and 16 Vulneraries. Do your worst.
Jarod: ...
Jarod: Well, shit.
Jarod: Uh, you guys, kill her. I'm going to go over, uh, there, and do... things. I'm definitely not fleeing in terror.
Black Knight: NOT SO FAST KAIBA!
Jarod: ...This isn't even remotely fair.
Micaiah: Cry moar.
Black Knight: Do we get to mercilessly slaughter him now?
Micaiah: No wait, let's let him go.
Black Knight: ...
Micaiah: What could go wrong?
[Sothe arrives fashionably late]
Micaiah: HEY SOTHE I MADE A FRIEND! ^_^
Sothe: ...
Black Knight: ...
Sothe: Goddammit Micaiah, you're stupid as hell.
So yeah, I have no idea how to even BEGIN to tackle the next mission. I'll figure it out later.

| Since I forgot to talk about it... The mission before the last one I talked about.
[Spoiler for FE10 1-8, click to show]
Okay, I didn't like this level at first, because I figured that if one prisoner died, I would fail or wouldn't get some cool item. Apparently not. Or maybe so, but it became too much of a pain to keep all 6 prisoners alive, so I just rescued one.
Is it weird that I actually felt sorta bad about that? Hrm...
Anyway. Tormod and his dudes fled north and joined my main group while Nailah and her dudes went northwest. Nolan and Aran covered their escape and walled the enemies with Rafiel backing them up, while Sothe, Micaiah, and Leonardo stopped the enemies to the east. After those enemies died, they rejoined Edward and the assorted Laguz (in their human forms so they wouldn't kill anybody, except Vika, who was busy distracting some Dracoknights, and Rafiel, who was with Nolan and Aran still). Edward actually did an awesome job holding off the warriors attacking from the south, scoring crits and dodging them. Then some Dracoknights decided to ignore Vika and target him, and he actually held them off too until Micaiah, Sothe, and Leonardo arrived.
Leonardo can massacre Peg Knights, but he seems less than amazing at killing Dracoknights, which is a problem. Luckily Micaiah and Edward were able to help overpower them, had I sent only Leonardo I would've been in trouble.
So, I send my Laguz and prepromotes (except Sothe) to the upper right hand corner of the map, while all my other guys make their way downward, with Sothe leading them. The enemy boss was surrounded by a few Mages and a few Soldiers, and a Priest. This was a problem. I tried to lure the Soldiers and Mages out one at a time, but only got one Soldier before I was forced to deal with a zerg rush.
Luckily, the Mages in this game are complete jobbers, and Nolan and Aran can both OHKO them most of the time. The Soldier was a bigger problem, and the boss especially. The boss here was a Mage (or Sage, I'm not really sure) who could do about 16-19 damage per hit, and doubled at least one of my units (Aran).
I eventually figured out a way to stall him while desperately healing my guys (using items, I didn't bring Laura since she can't navigate this map, like, at all), killed the Priest, and finally killed the boss. Whew.
And back to the present...
[Spoiler for FE10 1-Final, click to show]
Okay, so, this mission. Is there any way at all to prevent the damn Bandits from making off with my treasure? Going up the stairs single file is a hassle, especially because whoever tries to gets walled by like 28 enemies, and while Nailah and Volug (and to a lesser extent, Jill and Vika) can try to intercept the Bandits, they always seem to become walled at one of the gaps. I'd attack the person walling them with Jill, but her accuracy is pretty crap anyway, and downright abysmal when the enemy has the highground. Plus she can't OHKO anything, so it wouldn't help anyway.

If by "weird" you mean "stupid and annoying", then yes, it is "weird".
Especially when they force you to use those units. Like Volug. Seriously, what the hell? Why am I being forced to use him? There is NOTHING in the plot so far that suggests he's vital, like Micaiah or Sothe.

Sothe: were in ur base. killin ur dudes.
Jarod: If I hear that joke one more goddamn time...
So I send Nailah, Volug, Jill, and Vika up the shortcut with the gaps and everyone else takes the stairs. Eventually I have to remove Vika and Jill from the short path because otherwise enemies would have killed them with... well, not fire, but like, wind and arrows. So Sothe and Micaiah and Nolan and Aran massacre the Armorknights while Nolan and Edward massacre the mages, while Nolan and Leonardo and Volug and Nailah take out the archers.
Nolan was doing some crazy-ass multitasking in this level. In fact, it was a lot like this:

So anyway, eventually I reach the upper levels, I barricade the exit and wait for the Thieves while Sothe rounds up all the treasure they haven't gotten yet (Nailah managed to kill one of them, so that made it simpler). Stole the stuff back, stole back the Vulnerary the Thief stole from me, killed the Thief, tried to storm the castle proper. Got massacred by the Armorknights that showed up. Restart.
This time, had Micaiah Thani an Armorknight at a gap so I could storm the upper levels that way. I put Nailah (and later, Sothe) at the chokepoint while Volug, Vika, Jill, and Nailah (after Sothe replaced her) killed the assorted Mages that were on a raised platform to the north of my dudes. Killed the Armorknights by using the aforementioned platform to attack them from all sides and stormed the other side of the upper level, using the same general method of units with good movement or high power to kill the Archers. Then killed both Mages protecting Jarod, and set up shop to kick his ass.
So I was whittling down his health, and he was down to about 5 HP, when he got a random crit on a 3% chance and LOL RESTART.
This time I sent Nolan, scored one attack, Nolan promoted, and then Nolan started kicking his ass, doing 13 damage while dodging everything. I removed Nolan, sent in Jill and Aran, and they finished him. Micaiah seizes the castle. Mission end.
Yay, after victory celebration! Micaiah promotes, game acts like Meg is an important character, Tormod and the Laguz go off on a new adventure, game acts like Volug is an important character (again), etc. Part 2 is go!

Yay, deployment map! Haven't seen one of these in a while. Also, every unit is a prepromote/Laguz, so I don't have to worry about EXP.
WTF SINCE WHEN CAN ENEMY UNITS "RESCUE" MY UNITS? HAX.
Luckily, Haar is here to kick ass and take naps... And he's all done taking naps.
Easy level, etc.

What the hell.
Honestly, I don't remember much about Nephenee in FE9, but is it just me or did her personality do a COMPLETE 180? In fact, you know what it reminds me of?

Oh dear god.
(For the record I don't like Brom either. Though I never liked Brom.)
I did enjoy Heather flirting with Nephenee, though.
Um, right, I did the thing with the people and the visiting houses and killing enemies, etc. I got the feeling that if I only killed the Soldiers and Armorknights, I might have gotten some reward at the end, but it was far too troublesome.
Why must they always come to me to die?
