| Level: 43 Editor | [Spoiler for Mass Effect, cont., click to show]-I of course cannot kill Benezia before triggering the cutscene with her. oh, Mass Effect. you are not nearly as nonlinear as people say. -oh so you're invincible and I need to fight waves of generics, this is entirely unlike the last boss fight. because there are less exploding zombies. but it's also like the last boss fight in every other way. -blah blah blah Benezia was mind-controlled or Jedi mind tricked or some ****, who cares more importantly, Liara's voice actor is fantastic. she really nailed the "my mother was turned into the unwitting pawn of Space Hitler and I was forced to basically kill her" voice. ... oh wait. -Benezia attacks me and kills me because I'm stupid. I seriously would have ragequit if I had had to do that entire fight over, luckily it just set me down at the start of the conversation. bleh. -and then Benezia dies, yes, very sad, if only she had had any development at all perhaps this could have been... I dunno, something. who cares. -Ding! Welcome to experience level 44. -the Rachni Queen starts speaking through an asari and I think this is the first time in the game I've just sped through dialogue, reading the captions and ignoring the VA. God, I hate voice acting so much. I really want to just speed through it all but I can't justify doing so unless the person talking............................ talks.......................... incredibly................................ slowly......................... like........................... this. -the Rachni Queen tells us that we can either let her go free or kill her, destroying the entire Rachni race. this would be a very cool moral choice if the game's morality system wasn't awful. as is, I just default to the paragon option. wheeee. -I got three achievements right around here: Barrier Mastery (use Barrier 75 times), Completionist (complete the majority of the game... which seems like it should be named Not-Quite-Completionist or something), and Honorarium of Corporate Service (complete Noveria, even though my quests say I should still deal with the hot labs so it's not really completed? maybe it goes by the same standard as the previous one, where majority completion = completion). -okay! to the hot labs! for realz, this time -(guy gets stabbed by rachni) (soundclip plays) "UH!" (same soundclip plays again) "UH!" (end result: "there is a mira conso-UH-UH!") -Liara: Finally, some action! Kenri: Um. Liara. A man just died. -I start the neutron purge and try to run to the elevator, but a rachni blocks the way and for some reason I can't just... I dunno, push it aside. And then it kills me in two hits even though I have full shields and a Barrier up. So that thing about the rachni being weak against biotics was just for flavor, I guess. -okay, this time I just cleared most of them out of the room before running for it. which got me to level 45. -soooooo... I can't get back to main part of this area, so I'll never know what happened to the quirky cast of characters I met here! I really wanted to yell at Makepeace. Shepard: yo, wtf is up with you trying to kill me because Benezia said so? why not just take orders directly from the rachni? Makepeace: what? I never- Shepard: shut up, other playthroughs count! (I think xp used that joke already but I don't even care) -back on the Normandy. luckily I don't need to backtrack through the entire facility and then through the Mako section and then through the hotel and then back to the Normandy, it just drops me off at the Normandy after the tram. -I love how Shepard calls a meeting after each mission, and all she really ever says is "I have no fucking clue what I'm doing here, guys. dismissed." -whoooo council what kind of trivial crap will you complain about this time Turian Councilor: you RELEASED the Rachni Queen, Shepard? have you COMPLETELY lost your mind? Shepard: hey Turian Councilor why did the spectre cross the road Turian Councilor: Shepard we don't have time- Shepard: to do whatever the fuck she wants because she's a spectre Turian Councilor: ... Shepard: ... Turian Councilor: ... Shepard: yes, we are worthy adversaries. Turian Councilor: ...quite. -okay, I have no sidequests to do, so next stop: Virmire! </spoiler> --- "There's a pony in the shop, but don't buy it. | Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | [Spoiler for Mass Effect, click to show] Noveria is the best proof for why Turian councilor is the best councilor. He trolls you no matter what choice you make regarding the Rachni Queen. It's also probably the most entertaining Renegade Council Discussion (assuming you don't troll the council by contacting them then immediately disconnecting on them, repeatedly). Aww yeah Virmire, best part of the game. </spoiler> --- xp1337: Don't you wish there was a spell-checker that told you when you a word out? |

| Level: 43 Editor | [Spoiler for Trauma Center: Under the Knife 2, click to show]-Okay, starting this up. -Select a difficulty? ...Hard mode go! I am pro at this game, I don't need your ****ing normal modes! -So in some crapsack country in Africa, a bunch of doctors are needed. So Derek Stiles, being a sucker, goes there to help. Whooo. Chapter 1: Refugee Camp -There's a patient in critical care, but Stiles uses his CUTSCENE POWERZ to fix him. But then ANOTHER PATIENT is brought in, desperately in need of treatment! What is this, a hospital? So Stiles, being a lazy slacker, decides to finish up with this patient who is already stabilized, and lets the new doctor handle the other guy. So I'm apparently not playing as Stiles but the incredibly feminine Adel Tulba. I seriously did a double take when I saw the word "his". He's not even an attractive trap, he's just... gah. This is confusing. -As an aside, I forgot how much I hate the post-UtK1 character designs. They're awful. -So Adel is a native to Costigar (name of the country) and is fresh out of med school and is already annoying. He nearly gets shot and I laugh, but then Angie shows up to escort him to the ER. -Oh, I guess Stiles and Adel will be co-oping this thing. Even though, uh, Stiles could literally finish this entire operation in the time it takes Adel to blink. -"He was bitten by a crocodile and it broke his leg." "Owned." "HEY WAIT THERE ARE TOO MANY LEG BONE FRAGMENTS HERE" "they could be crocodile teeth" "Wow, Adel! You're so smart!" ...seriously, game? -I mess up trying to mend his leg bones a couple times and my score really suffers for it. -B rank. That's... decent, I guess, for how horribly out of practice I am. >_> -Adel's in awe of how awesome Stiles is, except he DIDN'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE HE'S A LAZY SLACKER AASDFGHGFDKLSA Oh and I guess Stiles will be mentoring Adel now. Chapter 2: Master Surgeon -Backstory: Apparently Stiles and Angie were the duo that defeated GUILT. Man, I'd like to play a game about that! -A woman named Sylvia appears. She is far more attractive than the last woman we met, and less likely to end up being a man! Anyway, she's a counselor here. -Oh, I guess this game has chapters that don't contain operations. Huh. Chapter 3: Novice Mistake -Adel misdiagnoses a patient. Angie's like "dude you just misdiagnosed a patient" and he's like "nah it's cool" but then IT WASN'T COOL! But seriously, Angie should have, I dunno, stopped the patient from leaving or something. I don't see how she isn't at fault here. -Adel is being emo and then Stiles is like "stop being emo or you're not a real doctor!" even though in the last game, if you failed any mission, even if the patient didn't die, Stiles quit being a doctor forever. So he's a huge hypocrite. -yesss tumors. I remember how to do this! -Yeah, I fly through this. -B rank. Pffffffffffffffft I deserved at least an A for that. -Oh. Well, at least Stiles is admitting that he made a similar mistake early in his career. And now Adel will stop emoing up my awesome surgery game! yaaaay Chapter 4: Hidden Perils -Angie is such a tsundere. -Oh geez. A car driven by relief workers hit a landmine. Two people died, Sylvia's in critical care. -ugh, another bone mending one. -I screwed up dropping a bone fragment onto the tray after removing it, and so it got deposited back in the wound somehow. *awesomeface.jpg* -Another surgery, another B rank... *sigh* I said I was pro at this game, I didn't say I was good at it. You would think one would imply the other but apparently not! -Stopping there. ... As an aside, look at this guy: http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/0/8883/825464-adeltulba_hires_large.jpg HE IS WEARING EYELINER AND A HAIRBAND HOW IS THIS SUPPOSED TO BE A MAN (also note how his skin tone is less "black" than "dipped in tea", to steal a joke from Yahtzee) </spoiler> --- "There's a pony in the shop, but don't buy it. | Level: 43 Editor | [Spoiler for Trauma Center: UtK2, click to show]Note: Every instance of "chapter" should be "episode". I'm still in chapter 1, I'm just on episode 5. That said. Episode 5: Civil War -Some guerillas attack the camp. Apparently the Razu tribe (which Adel is from) thinks they're being exploited by the Dal tribe (which some redshirt character is from). However Adel maintains that only a few extremists are actually launching attacks over this. -We get attacked. Adel and Derek take cover, Angie needs to get yelled at to realize that she should also. Eventually our dudes drive them off. -Time to operate on a patient with a bullet in his heart! -The bullet had split in two so I couldn't defib the patient so I had to operate on him while he was in cardiac arrest! -B rank. =/ -Adel and Angie talk about child soldiers or something, who cares. get this deep and meaningful plot out of my surgery game. Episode 6: Fever -Some child soldier that Adel operated on is holding Angie hostage. -_- -Let's begin the negotiation! -Adel tells him the war is over and that he's dumb (not in those words, of course). -He collapses with a high fever after releasing Angie. -Adel and Stiles think he might have the disease Stiles and Angie were sent here to study. -hey, I actually fail this one once! Lacerations that appear two at a time and knock off 15 vitals each while shaking the screen to make it harder to administer vital-uppers? THIS is the Trauma Center I remember! -"Dammit! I will save this patient!" *Healing Touch* yessssssssssssssssssss -C rank. Yeah we're going to be seeing a lot of these. <_< Episde 7: Leaving Africa -This is a no operation chapter, I think. -Caduceus USA sent word to Stiles that former GUILT patients are showing latent symptoms and that he's urgently needed back there. They return in three days. -Stiles has one recommendation seat in Caduceus, and he's offering it to Adel. Adel's not sure he wants to leave his country behind, though. -At the last second Adel says he's coming with. Chapter 2: Return to Caduceus Episode 1: Alone in the OR -There are hundreds of reported cases of PGS - Post-GUILT Syndrome - worldwide. It's a problem. -Adel won't be studying under Stiles after all since he's needed to do things that don't involve teaching lamers. -We get reintroduced to all the first game character's. Like the incredibly pretty, somewhat amoral, blonde doctor named Chase. Yeah. TOTALLY JUST COINCIDENCE GUYS I SWEAR -Oh, Chase will be teaching Adel. That could be... terrible... -Stiles goes into an OR by himself after hours. Adel follows him. -Oh, it's a "learn to draw the Healing Touch" mission. That's cool. -lol C rank. These missions are harder than they look to S rank, to be fair. <_< -"With great power comes great responsibility", says Stiles. Though not in those exact words. -My DS' battery is dying so I'll stop there. </spoiler> --- "There's a pony in the shop, but don't buy it. | Level: 43 Editor | [Spoiler for Trauma Center: UtK2, click to show]Episode 2: PGS -As you might expect from the title, we're dealing with PGS here. -We get introduced to Leslie Sears or something like that, a nurse I can't remember. Was she even in the first game? I dunno. -yessssssssss Victor greatest of all time -awww, reunion with Victor gets cut short as the guy with PGS suddenly got worse and needs to be operated on immediately. -Victor's gonna be leading Stiles through this operation because apparently PGS is different from normal syndromes. -So we're looking at a tumor-type PGS. You need to drain it like normal, then cut the three veins and remove it. Not so bad, right? Right. It throws off mini-tumors like usual, but those aren't a problem either. Oh, and you need to periodically inject a special serum to prevent toxicosis (which nullifies your vital stabilizer injections), but that's just a nuisance at best. -...Oh wait. If there's more than one, you need to remove them all at once or they'll regenerate. hahaha... terrible. I lose the first time that happens. -Okay, just one of them isn't a problem. Two of them aren't a problem now that I know what to do. Done. Finished. -*four appear* oh goddamn you -Healing Touch up ins. -...Wow, I am not fast enough. -I lose like... twice, despite the Healing Touch. -Oh. Ohhh. You don't need to actually cut the veins, you just need to select the scalpel and press them until they disappear. That's much quicker. -Okay, now it's not a problem. Easy-peasy. -A rank yesssssss Episode 3: To Live On -Oh dear, Linda is the next PGS patient. In the first game, Linda was the first GUILT patient, and was basically suicidal until Stiles convinced her not to give up. IIRC, her two missions were titled "Just Let Me Die" and "Please Save My Life" or something like that. Random Kenri trivia: I love titles like that, where they play off each other, which is why I can remember that. <_< -Okay, so Linda just has a bunch of normal tumors. It's not a problem despite a few non-normal-tumor problems occurring. -...I do almost run out of time though. Geez. Would've thought 5 minutes would be plenty but I guess I'm too slow! -I get a C-rank. I missed once and it just ruined my score. Trauma Center is merciless. >_> Episode 4: Ominous Clouds -WHAT ARE THESE OMINOUS CLOUDS THAT THREATEN TO ENGULF US -The Secretary of Health has been poisoned and needs our treatment. Everybody's like "oh god" because the same thing happened last game with a new strain of GUILT, and even though we beat it, he died anyway. =/ -Okay, this is pretty cool, though it's also annoying. Why is it annoying? Because you need to create your own skin grafts by injecting a serum into the designated area, and you need four for each burn. And if you don't apply them all quickly, the burn will start bleeding and ruin all the ones that you've already applied. So it took me a bit to get this down. -After that, I remove half of the poison capsule, which means the other half is somewhere else. -Worst part of this mission: if you're not fast enough finding and removing the second half of the pill, four addition burns will appear. I'm not even sure if it's POSSIBLE to finish the mission at that point. (Actually, with a HT, you could probably do it.) I certainly lost every time it happened to me, almost immediately. I'd say you have about one second to find and extract the second half of the pill, which actually isn't as bad as it sounds, but still. -Okay, so if you can get the pill out, there will only be two burns. Now, the trick is to be fast enough to not let them turn black. If they do, you have to do three additional steps (inject coolant, cut, and remove, before you can create and add the grafts). I lost the first time this happened to me since it just ruined my vitals. -The next try, I solved that problem by just using a HT. Mission complete! -holy what, XS RANK. Probably because of: Special bonuses: >No misses (600) >Completed with 210 left (600) >Blister occurred < 2 times (400) >Capsule content not spilled (400) Enjoy it now, I'll probably NEVER get another one of those! -Stopping on that high note! </spoiler> --- "There's a pony in the shop, but don't buy it. | Level: 43 Editor | [Spoiler for Trauma Center: UtK2, click to show]Episode 5: Sinner -GUILT research was banned by the government except in a facility called Elysium. But now a bunch of people being treated at Elysium are coming down with PGS. -During the original GUILT attacks, children were kidnapped and held at the enemy dudes' base, where they were implanted with mutated GUILT. These children were called "Sinners". Stiles and Angie treated most (all?) of them at the end of UtK1. -Our patient is a "Sinner" called Emilio who is fairly attractive. >_> But Stiles is more interested in the guy's (less attractive) nurse. NO. THAT IS NOT CANON. DEREKxANGIE IS THE OTP. -Emilio says that Stiles and Angie appear in a recurring nightmare of his, where they save him from GUILT. Yeah, we're pretty awesome! -PGS has caused an "extreme case of hepatitis". I shouldn't find that funny, but I do. It's like... "Tony Hawk's eXtreme Hepatitis"! ... I'm going to hell. -Okay, this is definitely annoying. Aside from toxicosis which isn't too bad, there will also be portions of the operation where doing anything results in a miss and a big drop in vitals. All you can do is wait for the patient to stabilize and then resume. -You also have to apply about 6 patches in the span of a second or two or they'll all fall off when the... whatever... starts bleeding again. Luckily the game isn't very finnicky about where you drop them, so it's not too bad. -blah blah blah complications and having to fix something and then do it again -A rank. Not bad! -lulz Angie is jealous that Stiles is making googly eyes at the nurse and storms off in a fit. She should just hit him with an oversized mallet! But seriously, get this romance subplot out of my awesome surgery game, kthx. </spoiler> --- "There's a pony in the shop, but don't buy it. | Level: 43 Editor | [Spoiler for Trauma Center: UtK2, cont., click to show]Episode 6: Rebirth -So Emilio needs a liver transplant, but they couldn't find a donor, but then they found a donor! Except the donor was at Elysium, so they're worried his liver is infected with PGS. But the tests came back clean, so surgery is go! ...And if you believe that there aren't going to be any PGS-related complications here, I have a bridge to sell you! -Victor's like "I'm not seeing any problems but the donor had a different type of GUILT than the patient, and we don't know what that implies". And Victor, being the resident genius (I muscle-memory-typed "resident evil" there, lolz), is OBVIOUSLY right about this. SO LOOK FORWARD TO THINGS GOING WRONG VERY FAST! -Wow, this operation is horrible. First of all, the game glitches out if you make a mistake at one part and becomes unwinnable(?), and starts throwing out misses for no reason(?). So I have no idea what's up with that. And if you make it past that, a new form of GUILT appears. Angie tells you to do something, but doing it instantly fails the mission. So. FUCK. THAT. -Oh, apparently she's just an idiot. "Derek, treat that ONE TUMOR THAT THERE IS ONLY ONE OF" "okay" *patient dies* "What are you doing? I said treat the tumor that there's only one of!" "angie are you mixing up 'one' and 'multiple' again?" "......Maaaaybe." -The tumors here seem to burst for no reason at random, killing my vitals. -...oh my god, I figured it out. You need to treat the tumors in the order that they appear. THEY MADE A GUILT OUT OF THAT GODDAMN BLOCKHEAD FROM OKAMI OH MY GOD I SHOULD JUST RAGEQUIT RIGHT NOW -So, you treat the mini-tumors in the order that they appear, then treat the big tumor in the same way. Except the main tumor will disappear and cause this "wave" of tumors to repeat if you're too slow to start treating it. Or too slow in draining it. Or too fast in draining it. Or draining it too much. Or not draining it fully in one movement. Or too slow in cutting it. Or too fast in cutting it. Or don't drain it in exactly the right spot (a spot which changes at random and cannot be known beforehand). Or if you don't cut it correctly (where the definition of "correctly" is unknown and changes at random). Or if you do everything right. Or for no reason at all, just to be an asshole! Did I mention there are 4+ waves, most of which add to the numer of mini-tumors? Yeah. -There is seriously no reason that the two assistants I have for this surgery couldn't be keeping track of the order in which the tumors appear. Oh, but of course they DO tell me which vein is the portal vein during the first part of operation. Even though I, Kenri, the player, know that, so I'm sure Stiles is just mentally facepalming when they tell him. "yeah I've been a doctor for years, thanks though. hey could you maybe keep track of which order these tumors appear in because I'm pretty busy with EVERY OTHER PART OF THE SURGERY?" "nope, we're just going to stand around and berate you repeatedly for forgetting the order, while the patient gets progressively closer to death!" "............you are psychopaths" -Oh my god. This is terrible. How did this get out of bugtesting? -Yeah. I'm done here. After 5+ tries, most of which I lost by running out of time... I'm fucking done. Forget it. I can deal with impossible difficulty as long as it's legitimate, but this is just... No. Fuck it. </spoiler> --- "There's a pony in the shop, but don't buy it. | Level: 43 Editor | [Spoiler for Trauma Center: UtK2, click to show]That's it, I've been convinced to never buy this game. >_> =( Well, at least the tumors don't disappear after showing up, so it's not QUITE as bad. And you also don't auto-fail if you don't get them in the right order. -- -Okay, figured it out... sorta. You need to be really fast, or the main tumor will just decide that it's sick of waiting for you and run away. So even though your vitals are dropping, you can't really stop to up them. Luckily, you get a few moments to do it while the tumors are appearing, but before you can start treating them. -I also paused the game and took notes of the order in which the tumors appeared. -And then used a Healing Touch for the last wave, with 5 tumors. -I still finished with only 30 seconds left. -Got an A rank, though, which is nice. -Emilio seems to have recovered nicely; he and his nurse are leaving the hospital. Angie and Stiles talk for a bit about whether that was a new type of GUILT. Apparently Victor is researching it. -That's the end of Chapter 2, so... Coming up next time: Chapter 3: Temptation! | Level: 43 Editor | [Spoiler for Trauma Center: UtK2, click to show]lol wait I mess up Chapter 3: Onset Episode 1: Temptation yep -Stiles gets introduced to Reina Mayuzumi, complete with close-ups of her face and breasts. -She's the President of Acropolis Pharmaceutical. Apparently she has "strong political connections". -Stiles is pretty good at sweet-talking people. -_- -Acropolis will be helping develop medicine to fight PGS, but right now, Derek is going to help create a vaccine for some canine influenza. yawn who cares -Reina starts hitting on/offering to hire Stiles. ugh -yessss Angie to the rescue. -oh god it's a puzzle level. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF- -Oh. That wasn't too bad! The ones in the first game were nightmarish. -A rank. -Angie yells at Stiles for not rejecting Reina. I'm not sure if she's the only sane character or if she's just being a bitch. >_> Not that either one would bother me, really! Episode 2: Prime Time -Some television station is interested in Stiles so they're going to be filming one of his operations. And they'll be supplying the patient. Uh.... huh...... Leslie and Adel are fangirling it up, while Chase is like "this is dumb, but we can't reject good publicity". Chase is the smart one. -Hrm. Simple mission involving tumors. The only difference is that occasionally a camera flash will go off. But it's not a problem at all. -C rank. ...Have you noticed that I get higher ranks on the harder missions, and terrible ranks on the easy missions? Yeah that's Trauma Center for you. <_< Episode 3: For the Future -Victor has an anti-PGS vaccine ready, but it needs to be custom-tailored for each patient, so right now only Emilio's is ready. =/ -Reina pulled some strings and Stiles is going to be doing an operation while hooked up to monitoring equipment. Hmm... that's not suspicious at all! -Aneurysms... oh geez multitasking. I can multitask fine if everything is on screen at once, but if I have to use the magnification tool... yeah... That was problematic. -"I WILL save this patient!" *Healing Touch* pretty awesome -B rank -Reina seems pretty interested in the Healing Touch. -Yeah, she's clearly evil. In case it wasn't apparent already. Episode 4: Elysium -No operation here. -Stiles and Angie deliver the treatment to Emilio at Elysium. A suspicious looking man is wandering around. Angie's father is being called in help research GUILT, because he helped create it in the first place. blah blah blah -Stopping there. </spoiler> --- "There's a pony in the shop, but don't buy it. I decided to spend 400 of the MSP I have (Got 1400 card a while back, and when I read that PD would only be 800, I decided to spend some of it) The game I got? Sonic The Hedgehog 2. Man. | Level: 43 Editor | Casino Night Zone is top tier. Definitely one of my favorite areas in any Sonic game. -- [Spoiler for Braid, click to show]Completed World 4. I'm using a program called JoyToKey that allows me to use a joypad, which is awesome and makes the whole thing so much less painful. The gimmick of World 4 is that, if Tim moves to the right, the game flows normally. If he stands still, the game stops. If he moves to the left, the game rewinds. It's pretty clever. Except for the last puzzle, where you have to unlock a couple doors with a key. What's the problem? The key rewinds if you move to the left. Oh my god, this ****ing key. The level was called "Fickle Friend", and it was not kidding. If the Weighted Companion Cube is your BFF, then the Weighted Companion Key is just the world's worst friend. ****ing key. Anyway, yeah, got all the puzzle pieces in world 4. </spoiler> --- "There's a pony in the shop, but don't buy it. It might do something unfortunate to you." ~from the first Summoner's Seal topic |

| Level: 43 Editor | [Spoiler for Trauma Center: UtK2, click to show]Episode 5: Familiar Faces -Oh geez, this is probably like the worst game in the world to play while sick. <_< -We get reintroduced to some characters I can't remember. They're a married couple, both doctors, and have a newborn baby with them. Then we get word that there's been a big car accident nearby, and patients are being rushed in, so they hand their baby off to Hoffman and run off to help us out. yaaay, wacky hijinks -I assume that this is going to be an annoying "operate on multiple patients in a strict time limit" mission, but then it turns out there's only one patient, so it's not bad at all! -B rank. -Everybody's feeling all warm and fuzzy for the happy couple, but then Chase and Leslie are like "hey Derek, how's it going with you and Angie" and Angie gets pissed, saying that Stiles hasn't been acting like a professional at all lately. Hey, it's not his fault he's a wackiness magnet! That would be like blaming Phoenix Wright for not taking law seriously, when he's actually the straight man for the entire world. (I still want a Trauma Center/Ace Attorney crossover, btw.) Episode 6: GUILT Returns -spoiler. alert. -The chapter starts with more gossip between Chase and Leslie about Stiles and Angie, but thankfully it's interrupted by a GUILT outbreak at Elysium. -holy ****, Elysium has been tinted red http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RedSkyTakeWarning FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF- -Adel and Chase take care of the grunt work while Stiles, Angie, Leslie, and... I forget the other guy's name. But anyway, they go to do the actual operations. Why would they send Leslie? That's like sending Ensign Diesearly along with Kirk, Spock, and McCoy and expecting him to be okay. -Emilio and his nurse (Heather) are both infected. They both say to operate on the other one first. -_- But we decide to start with Heather since Emilio has GUILT antibodies already or some such. -"Chiral reaction positive: Kyriaki" ............oh dear god Kyriaki is in this game That That's terrible -Oh god. We're treating four patients. Two generics, then Heather, then Emilio. I WAS AFRAID THIS WAS COMING -Luckily, we do have a time limit of 10 minutes, which is plenty. -Let me tell you. From playing the first Trauma Center. Kyriaki is supposed to be the easiest GUILT. It isn't. It is ****ing terrifying. Arguably the hardest GUILT in the game. Well, in the first game, I dunno what'll happen in this one. Really, only Savato even comes close, and even then, only X7's psycho Savato. But compared to those two, every other GUILT is just worthless. -Okay, first patient gets treated without a hitch, despite me fumbling around trying to remember how to beat these things competently. -Second patient has... mutant Kyriaki. Dear god, no. I lose here because I can't figure it out in time. -...Okay, I have this down now, I'm back in my X1 groove (except not nearly as good, but using the same tactics!) -You need to extract little pupal Kyriaki before attacking the Kyriaki Queens, or a bunch of little Kyriaki will spawn. Let me make something clear: Kyriaki, in UtK1, are the worst GUILT because there's no one being that you're attacking. There are a bunch of them, and any single one is incredibly dangerous, and multiples are just horrifying. In later Kyriaki levels, your basic goal was to kill as many as possible before you could even worry about treating the lacerations they create, because they deal damage faster than you can heal it. So, the first part of X1 is always spent just trying to keep your patient alive, but not caring about how much they're alive by. In fact, there's a max number of lacerations that could be on-screen at once, so it was advantageous to ignore them. The point is, multiple Kyriaki are very, very bad, and letting more get created basically set off my survival instinct so hard... -The third patient is Heather, more of the same but with more Kyriaki. I died here once because I was careless and hadn't quite gotten the Queens down yet. But the next time, I kicked its ass. -It's always a little bit annoying when I can sorta... metagame a game's plot through its gameplay. For example, here, I knew Emilio was either going to die before treatment, or get treated in a cutscene, because no way would they have a fourth patient after those first three. And, lo and behold, after finishing up with Heather, and the mission ends. -A rank. -Yeah, Emilio flatlines. Stiles goes nuts with the defibrillator. A Big No occurs. Very sad. I think this is the first patient Stiles has lost in either game, not counting Secretary Anderson (think this was his name) who he treated but ended up dying anyway because his wounds were too severe. Episode 7: Overconfidence -No operation. -Heather is pissed that we treated her first. Strictly speaking, treating a nurse before a patient seems like a dumb move, though ANTIBODIES was a decent enough reasoning, I suppose... -Chase/Leslie/Clarks are like "you made the right call" but then Angie is like "A) that is true but B) IT'S YOUR FAULT FOR OVERESTIMATING THE POWER OF THE HEALING TOUCH!!" Which is ****ing stupid, because what was he supposed to say? "Oh, well, there's no way we'll have enough time to treat all of them"? Arrogance wasn't a part of it! It's not like we were treating four patients for fun; there weren't any other doctors available! -Angie starts emoing out about how they lost a patient as if it's something that never happens. Which, I guess if you're Stiles, it doesn't. Though if you're any other doctor ever in the history of the universe... -Stiles says something about how Angie is right and that he's "let darkness into his heart". ... What the HELL is this melodramatic bullshit? It's surgery, not the goddamn Force. I'm not going to fall to the Dark Side and become some sort of evil doctor just because... ... I don't even understand wtf Stiles is supposed to have done wrong! It's not like he has a ****in' choice in all this wackiness! It just happens! -Bleh, that's the end of chapter 3. Comin' up soon, chapter 4... ugh, THIS GAME Chapter 4: Relearning the Ropes Episode 1: Collapse -Chapter opens with Stiles remembering Uncle Ben's last words, that with great power comes great responsibility. -Apparently Adel is collapsed and is running a fever; it seems like the same disease they were studying in Costigar. -"I WON'T LET YOU DIE!" holy what new voice clip -...I die ten seconds in when whatever it is goes nuts and a bunch of lacerations form. what. -There's nothing I can do! -... -Okay, this is pretty clever. <_< You need to ignore everything and focus on finding and scalpeling the hemorrhages before doing anything else, or they'll burst and you won't be able to do a goddamn thing to save your vitals. After you do that, you can take care of all the starting wounds and finish treating the hemorrhages. Then a new wave of hemorrhages will appear, and so forth. It's not too bad. -At a certain point, they'll start respawning and Angie forces you to use the Healing Touch, even though I'm pretty sure the hemorrhages are either A) infinite, and thus the HT wouldn't help or B) not infinite, and thus I don't need your ****ing Healing Touch charity to treat them. >_> -Stiles can't use the Healing Touch. =/ -Hoffman steps in to finish the operation. *Operation failed!* -B rank. -I should clarify: Hoffman is an older mentor character who's said to descend from Asclepius. He can use the Healing Touch as well. -Hoffman is worried that Stiles will never stop being emo. He says that he made a terrible mistake at one point that's very similar to the one Stiles made, and that he needed the power of friendship to be convinced to even pick up a scalpel again. -Stiles is emoing it up and thinks he'll never be able to save anyone again, as if the Healing Touch is THAT important. (It isn't. He went for, what, three years without using it between UtK1 and UtK2? It's really only truly necessary for treating Savato.) Episode 2: Losing Faith -sounds promising -Oh god, another Healing Touch training mission. I thought I was done with this shit. -He can't do it. *Operation failed!* -A rank. I hate these missions. <_< -Adel has regained consciousness and thinks Stiles treated him. Chase decides to set the record straight, lulz Episode 3: Rehabilitation -no operation -blah blah blah Stiles is being transferred to another hospital -Angie wants to go with, Hoffman says "lol no" on the basis that Stiles needs some space if he wants to get over this. Episode 4: Hope Hospital -IIRC, Hope Hospital was where Stiles worked before being picked up by Caduceus. -Yep. -Oh hey, Stiles is being mentored by the couple from 3-5 whose names I can't remember! (Well, their last name is Kasal, but there's another Kasal who has dibs on that moniker.) -They talk about some "master plan" that involves getting "her" here. Ugh. These guys are the worst SEELE ever. -Stiles is told that he's to be performing an operation, and is like "but I can't handle this!" but then Kasal 2 reveals that he'll have a veteran assistant: Nurse Mary Fulton! ... ...... Yep. For those who haven't played UtK1, or have but understandably don't remember who that is, she mentored Stiles for a bit before she was replaced by Angie. -Oh **** me, it's a gallstone mission. The gallstone mission in the first game was, by far, the hardest non-GUILT mission. I never figured out how to do it competently, I just used a Healing Touch and went nuts, finishing it before the patient's vitals could get too low. ...At least I think it was a gallstone mission. It was the same general gameplay, at least. -...And it's horrible here, too. And I fail a lot. -...And there's a second patient afterward! FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF- -Okay, finally managed it. Luckily the second patient is a breeze. Probably would have ran out of time otherwise (and I did in fact run out of time once anyway). -C rank. Who didn't see that coming. >_> -Stopping there. </spoiler> --- "There's a pony in the shop, but don't buy it. It might do something unfortunate to you." ~from the first Summoner's Seal topic |

[Spoiler for Trauma Center: UtK2, click to show]Episode 5: A Rough Night -Small timeskip. Stiles seems to be getting better. He's being left in charge of the emergency care for the night. -oh my god "What if multiple patients are brought here in critical condition and I need to decide who to treat first?" "Derek! Multiple patients are being brought here in critical condition!" "Sonuva--" THIS GAME -Okay, so there are three patients, but this isn't too bad. I honestly can't even really remember the first patient at all, so you know it must have been uneventful. The second was a bit harder just because it involves the... ugh... magnification tool. The third was something new and involved reattaching severed tendons. This wasn't problem except that I only had 2 and a half minutes (out of 8) left, and the explanation given for how to reattach the tendons was terrible so I didn't know what to do. But the patient ended up only taking like a minute even with that. So yeah, no biggie. -A rank. -Stiles is worried about what's happening at Caduceus. Which he SHOULD BE. Clarks and Chase are jobbers! And the less said about Adel, the better. The best doctor they've got is Hoffman and he's retired! It's horrible. Without Stiles there they should just set fire to the building and watch it burn. -Status update on Caduceus: Angie is a bumbling fool, and is planning on visiting her father soon. Adel is being emo. Hoffman is out of the country. Episode 6: Visitor -no op -Angie visits Hope Hospital to see how Stiles is doing. Originally she tries to keep it a secret, but Nurse Mary convinces her to talk to him directly. -"Come on, you two are acting like you just met. Don't you have anything 'real' to say?" lolz if only the dialogue in this game wasn't incredibly wooden all the time <_< -"Tsk tsk, you can't even carry a conversation with a young lady on your own!" look unless a foursome is going to happen sometime soon, gtfo -Stiles gets talked into accompanying Angie when she visits her father tomorrow. -Scene change to the penitentiary, where we're visiting Professor Blackwell. I'm just going to type up the game's summary because I can't remember if I explained this: "Angie's father, and immunology researcher with a wealth of knowledge on GUILT. He was forced to cooperate with Delphi's GUILT researchers in exchange for his daughter's freedom." -Elysium's GUILT outbreak wasn't an accident, it was medical terrorism! Plot twi-oh who am i kidding -There were other GUILT researchers besides Blackwell. Adam, the first game's Big Bad, was one. Blackwell gives us the codenames of four others, who apparently were never apprehended: Vampir, Cuculus, Torperi, and Cuoco. Those are ****ing horrible codenames. -Oh wait, I misinterpreted. Those four WERE apprehended. Only one wasn't: "Zum Whol". That is a supremely dumb name. -Blackwell collapses; Stiles thinks it's PGS. Episode 7: Blackwell -Yup, it's PGS. -"His heart is being affected" oh god if it's Savato I will cry -5 minutes, that SHOULD mean it's not Savato, thank god -what the hell, DISCO TUMORS -Okay, so the tumors are treated the normal way... but they blink blue and red, and can't do anything while they're red. -I treat all four tumors, but then a superfast fifth one appears. Stiles says he can't treat it without the Healing Touch and closes the patient up. -B rank. whaaaat I deserved at least an A for that. -Angie is understandably annoyed. Episode 8: Desparate Plea -Blackwell's condition changes from "somewhat stable" to "FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF-". The guys from Caduceus aren't going to arrive in time. -Angie says that she trusts Stiles more than anyone else in the world and begs him to operate and just try his best. -Flashback. Apparently when Stiles was a kid his dad was in a similar situation and he was the one begging doctors for help. -RESOLVE -"I will save this patient!" always awesome Episode 9: The Touch -you've got the touch, you've got the power, yeah! -"I will save this patient! I won't let you die!" -Okay, this is pretty tough. There are now seven tumors instead of four. Luckily, I realized that if you start with the tumors closer to the button for the scalpel tool, it's a lot easier. As an aside, if you ever mess up and touch a red tumor, every tumor you've already treated will spawn 2d4 inflammations. Do not let this happen. I let it happen and somehow recovered from it, but ended up with a C rank. Terrible. -The goesfast tumor appears and Stiles uses a Healing Touch. And I'm so nervous that I fuck this up and get a miss here, lol. But it's okay because I would've gotten a C rank anyway! -So, yeah, C rank. -Stiles passes out just as Chase and Leslie arrive. Blackwell seems stable. -Later, Stiles is saying his goodbyes to Hope Hospital and heading back to Caduceus. More sexual tension between Angie and Stiles. blah blah blah -That's the end of chapter 4! </spoiler> --- "There's a pony in the shop, but don't buy it. He's from the Ministry of Health and Human Services, and is the CEO of the Hands of Asclepius. He's telling Hoffman about "the Asclepius Project". -His plan is to provide training from hell to doctors to bring them up to Caduceus' doctors' level, and wants cooperation from Caduceus. They basically say, "uh dude we've got bigger problems right now" -Scene change to Stiles' group. Chase tells Stiles that Adel is off emoing it up because Stiles didn't use the HT to save him and Hoffman had to intervene. -Scene change back to Mercer. -Stiles runs into Mercer. Mercer tries to recruit Stiles to HOA but he's like "no thx". Then Kasal gets an emergency call about a PGS case. -Stiles rushes off to treat it, Mercer asks to observe the operation. -Time limit: 6 minutes. That's not good! -Oh god -I must have been doing something wrong because I kept running out of time. It doesn't help that the patient flatlines every thirty seconds (actually it might, because they get revived with like 25 vitals - not sure if that's faster than using the stabilizer or not), and that your drain breaks at a certain point. -After failing two or three times from running out of time, I finally finished... with 1.7 seconds left. -C rank. No kidding! -Mercer lets slip that he's seen footage of Stiles before. Well then! Guess he's evil too. I was sorta split 50/50 before now. -Mercer mentions something about a "war" and, when questioned, shows Hoffman a letter he received. "There are those who would ask how the deceased shall rise, and what form they shall take. An exercise in futility. What is sown in life can only be reaped through death." -Hoffman recognizes the "cryptic prose" as Delphi's. -Adel says he's resigning and joining the HOA. | Level: 43 Editor | [Spoiler for Trauma Center: UtK2, click to show]Episode 2: Retaliation -Stiles and Angie are supposed to be at some meeting, but Stiles is spacing out over Adel. Apparently it's been a while since he left and they haven't heard anything. -They start to leave for the meeting, but are immediately paged to Kasal's office. -A number of Mayuzumi's employees are apparently infected with GUILT. sigh -"Tetarti... We've dealt with that strain of GUILT before." oh fuck me fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck sigh Let me explain. Tetarti multiplies if you treat it incorrectly. I NEVER figured out how to treat it correctly through the entire first game. I was explained to me multiple times in-game, and I've had real people explain it to me too, but I just never got it. And I wrote a FAQ for that game. Ugh. In fact, for hilarity, let me look up what advice I gave for some Tetarti missions! There are two main strategies here: 1. Healing Touch at the beginning of the operation. Pull out a lot of needles, scribble over all the yellow dots with the scalpel, pull out the triti. Hope it doesn't regenerate really fast and murder you when the HT stops. 2. Quickly but CAREFULLY back it into a corner. Then HT and finish it off while it can't defend itself as well. I prefer strategy 1, but I admit that it relies a lot on dumb luck. I just happen to have that abundance, so it works well for me. So overall I recommend strategy 2. Note how I didn't actually SAY how to do any of this stuff? It's because I don't know. I just dumb-lucked my way through every Triti... mission... ... oh fuck me, it's Triti I hate. Tetarti is actually a pretty cool guy! As far as evil killer diseases go at least. -Mayuzumi says that a doctor from the HOA is performing an operation right now. Huh. Why would you. YOU IDIOT! The only non-jobbers are Stiles and Hoffman. Maybe Weaver. -Okay, so Tetarti. Tetarti's a pretty cool guy. Three of 'em show up, just minding their own business, swimmin' around and chillaxin'. And there will be a green one, a yellow one, and a purple one. And after a second, they'll all turn white. And you must then inject the matching serum into each Tetarti. It's pretty easy, not too bad. -...oh god, after two rounds, a blue one shows up. MUTATED TETARTI! -Deus Ex Machina to the rescue! Apparently Angie treated a patient with a pre-mature mutant Tetarti while Stiles was at Hope Hospital, and Victor made a new serum. -...well, I really ****ed up that mission somehow, but it was SO EASY that it didn't really matter. I'm starting to think my DS' touch screen is just a little messed up and it makes this game harder than it should be. OR it could be shoddy hit detection. Neither would really surprise me. -B rank. -Stiles and Angie are (understandably) worried about the HOA doctor, because all non-Stiles, non-Hoffman doctors are jobbers, so they decide to check on him. -Mayuzumi says the other operation is going smoothly, so Stiles decides not to directly interfere. Instead, he and Angie just go to an observation room to... observe. Episode 3: New Heroes -no op, which means the operation is successful I guess -And the HOA doctor is, OF COURSE, Adel. Hands up if you're surprised! ... Yeah, that's what I thought. -Adel finishes the operation with goesfast. Stiles says it's unrefined, but definitely the Healing Touch. -Adel tells us a bit about the program that Acropolis and HOA have been working on. "First, they strengthened my body -- mainly by nervous system -- with a new, perfectly safe medication." asdfghjklfdsdfgjkjdsdfghjk WHAT DID YOU JUST WHAT OH MY GOD IT SHOULD BE PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR ANYONE TO BE THIS DUMB OF COURSE IT'S NOT SAFE, YOU IDIOT IT'S NEVER SAFE I JUST OH MY GOD OH MY GOD "After that, they channeled the neural movement data from the Healing Touch directly into me. In other words, the image I needed to perform the Healing Touch was acquired physically." NO YOU SHUT UP SHUT THE GODDAMN HELL UP -Back and forth between Mayuzumi and Stiles. "Mayuzumi, hey Mayuzumi! You didn't say you were monitoring my operation for something like this!" "...Uh, yes actually, I did." "...nyoro~n" -More stupidity from Adel. "I dare say he [Mercer] is giving me the power to rival that of a god!" Oh for the love of Zeus-- YOU ARE AN IDIOT OF THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE CALIBER -Scene change to Hoffman's office. Blackwell is being paroled, but only under the condition that HOA keeps an eye on him. AUGH. I just... AUGH. WHY DOESN'T ANYONE REALIZE THAT THEY'RE EVIL. THEY COULD NOT BE ANY MORE OBVIOUSLY EVIL IF THEY KICKED PUPPIES WHILE TWIRLING HANDLEBAR MUSTACHES AND CACKLING! Episode 4: Abduction -Angie convinced HOA to let them come and visit her father. -Oh my GOD Blackwell is undergoing the damn ability boosting evil T-Virus treatment too OH MY GOD FUCK THIS GAME -Back at Caduceus, Clarks shares his theory that Delphi has infiltrated Acropolis and that the attacks on them and on Elysium were an inside job. ... Holy ****ing ****. You are all idiots. OF COURSE IT WAS AN INSIDE JOB BECAUSE THEY ARE EVIL And then they say they're going to "warn Acropolis of the possibility"! ARGH -Stiles and Angie go to meet with Mayuzumi but then she gets kidnapped. sigh -One of the assailants got shot, so we're operating on him. >_> -Time limit: 1 minute FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF- -Okay, so this is an easy mission, but it's tricky just because you can't **** up too badly or you'll time over. You also can't use the defibrillator, even after removing the bullet, so you need to the (much longer and more difficult) hand massage method. -B rank. -A detective wants to question the suspect, but Stiles is like "uh dude he just had open heart surgery. Lay off." but then the detective's like "he's the only lead we've got! DOOOO SOOOOMETHIIIING!" and Stiles is like "..........." Episode 5: The Trace -Okay, so Detective Buckley wants to add a GPS to the pacemaker we're putting in the patient, then let him escape on purpose, in hopes that he'll lead everyone straight to where Mayuzumi is being held by Delphi. Stiles is against this, but they talk him into it. So now we're doing the pacemaker implanting surgery! -...so once again they give me little direction, and the direction they do give is misleading. Also, I mentioned my DS' screen being... wonky? Either that or the hit detection is even crappier than usual here! -...sigh, after getting the pacemaker in and hooked up, it turns out to have faulty wiring, so we have to remove the wiring and then put new ones in. ARTIFICIALLY LENGTHENING GAMEPLAY. NOT DELICIOUS. -But yeah, I managed it on the second try. So, pretty easy. -C rank. -The patient escapes. Episode 6: The Carrier -carrier has arrived -...sigh. The guy goes back to Delphi's old base. Cue Chase: "Nobody thought to look there?!" I've said it before, I'll say it again: Chase is the smart one. -We're going in as an "anti-GUILT medical team", which should be read as "we need a way to get the player to the plot, let's make up a term that allows for that". -HOA is going as well. sigh -Mercer's there, as is Adel. Leslie mentions that the doctors of HOA all look weird and intense. BECAUSE THEY WERE INJECTED WITH NANOMACHINES. IDIOTS. -sigh. The suspicious looking guy from waaaay back in 3-4 is here and says "Don't shoot! I don't want to die!" and the trained soldiers are like "clearly this man is not a threat" and then he shoots them. *facepalm* -Our guys are getting smoked, and the HOA doctors are performing lots of operations on them. All of the HOA dudes are using the Healing Touch. -They found Mayuzumi, but they think she's been infected with GUILT. Stiles and Angie are sent in. Predix: Deftera. -Oh god it's Pempti. **** Pempti. ...Actually, Pempti isn't too bad, I'm just not sure I have the mad skillz anymore to handle it. <_< -Didn't Pempti require a superlaser to destroy? Hopefully they brought one of those with them!! -Yeah, they did. Also, we're going to inject it with nanomachines. That wasn't a joke. This is what is actually happening. -Oh fuck me, there's two cores. That's horrible and this game should feel horrible. -Oh goddamn you, you goddamn Pempti. It split in two. There are two Pempti. That's as many 1 Double Pempti. And that's terrible. -Holy ****, how the hell are you supposed to... ONE Pempti requires constant attention! This isn't fair at all! -There's nothing I can do! It is not humanly possible to destroy the mini-cores that create polyps, and they kill you if Pempti uses them twice in a row! -Also, and this is the lesser of two evils, but if you kill one, the other Pempti goes ****ing berserk and starts using multiple attacks simultaneously, which is cheating of the highest caliber. I say that's the lesser of two evils because if I didn't have to waste a HT on the aforementioned polyps, it would be cake. -Oh for the love of-- I KILLED IT but then my patient died from minor wounds. If I just had like 3 more vitals, I could have used medi-gel and stabilizer and finished... sigh. Well. At least I know it's possible. Also, I want to kill it with fire and never look back. -Yeah, that's about all I can stands tonight. </spoiler> --- "There's a pony in the shop, but don't buy it. | Level: 43 Editor | [Spoiler for Trauma Center: UtK2, click to show]-Okay, forget this. I wanted to prove I was pro at this game but I have been overwhelmed by feelings of just not giving a ****. The more I play games from this series the more I'm convinced the first one being great was a fluke. Not that this one is bad, but I just could not care less. Whatever. I'm dropping this **** to normal and I'm gonna blitz through it. Not easy, though. You serious? That would be disgusting. Only elementary school kids should play on easy mode. -Okay, fuck Pempti, I beat it in one try, fantastic. -S rank. Yeah get used to inflated scores for this. Maybe. -The patient from before got captured again and is back in custody. -Some of the Delphi agents escaped through an underground passage. sigh. Episode 7: Shift in Power -no op, though I didn't notice until the episode was over. <_< -...there's a TV announcement about Congress passing a law where hospitals must sponsor their doctors for the HOA program. -Mercer: "All according to plan! *evil laugh*" sigh -The new Delphi leader is "Heinrich von Raitenau". He's a blood relative of Adam. (As an aside, I couldn't remember that ridiculous name, so later in this writeup I just started calling him Baldcula.) -Mercer and some assistant talk about a "target" and how it's "time to make their offensive". -Hoffman is worried about HOA "creating scalpels that are too sharp". -_- -Apparently a bunch of staff from Caduceus are being called away for the HOA program. Also we're low on supplies because the people we do have left are lazy slackers. Sigh. Why doesn't the whole thing just go down like this: Mercer: We need your doctors. Hoffman: No. Mercer: What? Hoffman: We're Caduceus, we can do whatever the fuck we want. Oh, right. Wrong game. <_< Chapter 6: Lineage Episode 1: A New Ally -The hospital is understaffed. Leslie is helping Clarks, so Chase asks to borrow Angie for a surgery. Then Stiles gets paged. -Heather Ross is here to visit. She's less of a bitch this time, which is understandable since she's had a while to grieve. In fact, she says she's transferring to Caduceus! -Kasal says she's got the job, then gets a call. A patient just got admitted with Triti. Ugh. Well, Angie's not back yet, so I guess Heather will be helping out. You got Nurse Ross! Is this your big chance? (I had to slip that in somewhere.) -Oh **** me. "Stabilizer unavailable, with limited supply of antibiotic gel." GODDAMN YOU HOA -Oh hey, it's an underdeveloped Triti, so it's completely worthless! EXCEPT I HAVE NO STABILIZER AND NOT ENOUGH MEDI-GEL FOR APPLYING PATCHES. I have to suture the wounds and take 4 damage each time! It adds up when you have 65 total and no way of getting more! -Wow, I finish with no medi-gel and only two vitals. -A Rank. -Angie shows up and sees Ross. Ahahaha akward. Angie: What room is the patient in, doctor?! *sees Ross* Stiles: I swear it's not what it looks like! It may look like she's assisting me with an operation but really we're having sex! Episode 2: Anathema -no op -There's a meeting about Delphi. Mercer makes an announcement that HOA has a new "weapon" to use against GUILT. Suspicious. -Speaking of suspicious, scene change to Suspicious Looking Guy. He's reporting to a guy who looks like a bald Dracula. SO HE'S NOW NAMED BALDCULA. -...XD they used the wrong sprite for one piece of dialogue so SLG just talks to himself in a different pose THIS GAME -They're launching "Operation Hades". Episode 3: Widespread Fear -SLG is at it again! -...Or maybe that wasn't an error in the last chapter... maybe the guy talks to himself... or they use the same sprite for all generic Delphi members. I... I just don't know about this. This game's plot doesn't make any goddamn sense. -He/they are causing some ****, I dunno. -Multiple GUILT outbreaks are occurring throughout the city. Caduceus heads in. Goddammit this is definitely going to be a multiple operations episode. -We're being divided up. Clarks goes off with Leslie, Chase is sent with Ross, and I'm with Angie. -...Or not, Angie says Ross is inexperienced and should stick with Stiles. She goes with Chase instead. lolz -Why isn't Hoffman down here? This isn't a good time to be off doing your Obi-Wan thing old man! When this happened in UtK1, we needed your help to save everyone! -We're dealing with Tetarti. Noooo problem. -Oh hey, time limit: 5 minutes. That means this'll either be not bad at all or REALLY bad! -A black Tetarti shows up, but we already have the serum for that one too! Hmm... how convenient! -...I dick up and forget what color one of the Tetarti is, lol. And then I make like 5 other mistakes afterwards, including failing to suture the patient's wound twice. Oh god. I am disappoint. -Still A rank. I guess there was only one patient after all. How nice of them. -Cutscene Stiles operates on 7 other patients and is prepared to move on to a ninth when Victor shows up with a new serum from HOA - their anti-GUILT weapon. It supposedly induces necrosis in GUILT. DON'T USE IT STILES YOU DAMN WELL KNOW THAT HOA IS EVIL. -Ha. They DID bring in Hoffman. And he got through every patient he was assigned. Awesome. -I guess HOA doctors were there as well, seruming it up. -...pfffffffahahahahahaha apparently that was the largest medical terrorism related attack in history but there were no casualities, wow. Neo-Delphi is an even bigger failure than Neo-Team Rocket. -Scene change to SLG and Baldcula. They're pissed that HOA owned them so utterly. Episode 4: Backfire -Does that title fill you with confidence? Because it fills me with confidence. -Detective What's-His-Face is doing a raid on a GUILT HQ, and requested the aid of Stiles and Angie instead of HOA. Owned. -He says that we're more dependable than HOA, and when questioned by Angie, says the HOA are top-notch doctors but something about them just "isn't right". It could be the blatant evil. I dunno, I'm just throwing it out there. -The SGL Legion throws some sort of gas and uses it as a distraction to kidnap Stiles and Angie at gunpoint. ... I'm not even going to point out how incredibly stupid it is that Stiles didn't just use a Healing Touch to kick their asses. -Oh my god. Angie is the dumbest person on the planet. The bad guys are driving away, but one of them is injured, so they tell Stiles and Angie to operate on him in the car. Angie: "What makes you think we'll cooperate?!" (actual dialogue) Kenri [dumbfounded]: "Oh, gee, I dunno... THE FACT THAT YOU'RE BEING HELD HOSTAGE AT GUNPOINT?!" -So I think this is gonna be like the night mission from Second Opinion + the airplane turbulence mission from UtK1. -...XD yeah we're using a penlight as the only source of light. Picture everything on the DS' bottom screen being black except for the interface and a circle about the size of a nickel. -After the first part of the operation, they start shouting a warning every few seconds: "WE'RE GOING TO TAKE A LEFT!" and that's your cue to stop operating while the car turns. -However, despite all that, it's very much "same crap, different day", so not a problem at all. -...XD as soon as we finish treating him we enter a tunnel and have an ample supply of light. Oh well. -Oh geez, B rank is all. I had one miss and it must've really hurt me. Also, I was sorta slow. <_< -SGL realizes that I'm Derek Stiles and has decided to uh... let Baldcula decide our fate or something. I dunno. Episode 5: Lord of Plagues -no op -We're brought to the mansion that is Baldcula's HQ. "Welcome to my castlevania" and all that. -Baldcula mentions something about a "Prince and Princess", I dunno. -They're going to turn Angie into a Sinner, a host for a new strain of GUILT. Okay, Stiles, seriously, you have scalpels and the ability to stop time. IF I WERE YOU I'D KICK THEIR ASSES. -Augh. They get dragged off to their cells. Episode 6: Improvising -Oh god. Stiles finds an electronic lock on the cell door. You know what that means... We're going to operate... ON A WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO -XD Angie: I never imagined we'd have to operate on a lock. Stiles: Well, I did have to disarm a bomb once with a scalpel and a laser. That was interesting. -...wow, that was boring as shit, and the hit detection was awful. Okay, first you had to use the scalpel to get the lock open, then pull out a bunch of pins with the forceps. Except I had to aim to the right of the pins or it counted as a miss for some reason. Who knows why. IIRC, the hit detection in the Second Opinion version of the bomb mission was awful too. Then I had to repeat this three more times. Terrible. -B rank. I honestly expected C. Hit detection, why do you thwart my efforts so. -They escaped and are trying to figure out either a way out, or a way to contact Caduceus/the police. Episode 7: Tragedy -Oh no. Oh nooooo. It's 6-7. I have heard... baaaad things about this episode. -They find a phone and call for help. -...Mercer talks the Detective into bringing HOA doctors. AUGH DON'T DO THAT. -XD Stiles and Angie go back to the cell to await rescue. -XD Stiles and Angie escape again in the confusion of the attack, then decide to go back in as part of the medical team. Oh my god. -They find more Sinners in the basement. -The Sinners are Karl and Christine, Baldcula's son and daughter. In case you were under the impression he'd end up vaguely sympathetic like Adam. -Baldcula is trying to enter "suspended animation" (read: become a GUILT-zombie) like Adam did. -...Oh my god. Adel you IDIOT. He injected the anti-GUILT necrosis serum into people who are living incubators. YOU ****ING MORON. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU I WILL FIGHT YOU ASDFGHJKLKJHGFDSDFHJKLKFDSASDSASDFGHSAHJKLKJ -Adel passes out from sheer stupidity overdose. Also I think Baldcula used some sort of knock-out gas. -There are three patients. We'll be fighting Tetarti, then Kyriaki, then Pempti. We have 10 minutes. Let's rock. -Okay, we save Baldcula from Tetarti with no problems. On to the kids. -Okay, saved Karl from Kyriaki with few problems. On to the girl with almost 6 minutes left. -Annnnd we saved Christine with few problems. Now, despite how easy that was, I GUARANTEE it would have been nightmarishly hard on, uh, hard. -A rank. -Delphi is dead. Baldcula will be tried as an international criminal. The backup from Caduceus has arrived and is worried about Stiles. Chapter 6 is over. ...But the game is not. So, in case you thought I was just being a nutjob who claimed random, basically good characters were evil for no reason like the Marche people do, no, Mercer and Mayuzumi are definitely the next arc bosses. <_< Also, speaking of evil supposed-protagonists, by the end of the game, Adel might end up ranking somewhere near Micaiah. </spoiler> --- "There's a pony in the shop, but don't buy it. | Level: 43 Editor | [Spoiler for Trauma Center: UtK2 - the entire last chapter, click to show]-Last time, on Trauma Center. SGL: My name is Legion, for we are many. Baldcula: We will create a new form of GUILT to infect this planet. The whole world will become an operating room. An emergency room. A morgue. This will be our Trauma Center! Angie: We can use the scalpel to open the cell door! Stiles: Then let's begin Operation: Cleanup! Baldcula: But I am beloved by disease. You will taste my powers. Stiles: I'll kill you AND DISEASE! Baldcula: BEHOLD MY TRUE FORM, AND DESPAIR! Dark Stiles: I have existed since the dawn of man and I shall exist until the last star falls from the sky. Though in this life I am known as Derek Stiles, I am like all men and I am no man and therefore I AM ASCLEPIUS! Baldcula: Wha- What is this power?! CADUCEUS?! HERE?!?! Angie: Caduceus is always with us! Adel: My will is Asclepius' will! NO GUILT CAN STOP ME! Angie: Adel, wait! Baldcula: For what profit is it to a man if he gains the world and loses his own soul?! Karl! Christine! FORGIVE ME! Angie: We're in trouble, what're we gonna do?! Stiles: ...We're going to save these patients! ... Chapter 7: Illusion Episode 1: Secret Patient -Hmm, Stiles and co talk about the aftermath of the destruction of Delphi. They didn't get any credit for it. =/ -A patient is coming in, but they haven't gotten his/her charts yet. o_O -It's very secretive and might have something to do with "the Juarez case". ...I have no idea what that is. -Hmm, seems it's being kept a secret because it's a new strain of GUILT. -Okay, I deal with some lacerations and then... holy **** WHAT IS THAT. It's like a cactus monster! -....Okay, got it. Blast it with a laser, extract the core without touching the floating spores. ...Harder than it sounds! -Okay, that wasn't too bad. You have to kill it 4 times and you can't **** up too much, but it's no Savato/Paraskevi/X1 Kyriaki. -A rank. -sigh. The patient was a famous tennis player. She tells us that her trainer gave her some injections that "wouldn't be considered doping" and were provided by the pharmaceutical company that's sponsoring her. Any guesses? -We ask her the name of the pharmaceutical company. "Um... Metropolis? Something like that?" le sigh Episode 2: Tainted Medicine -no operation -Some vague dialogue between Mercer and his assistant. -Caduceus is holding a meeting about this. That amino acid puzzle Stiles did? Helped them with their research for some kind of medicine that they manufactured into a bunch of different stuff. New strains of GUILT, the anti-GUILT serum, the super steroids for athletes, the stuff that gave HOA doctors the Healing Touch, etc. -Hoffman/Kasal talk about how it would have been much worse without their spy in the HOA. Stiles asks who this is, and I'm like "please don't be Adel, pleeeease don't be Adel" and then it turns out... ... to be Blackwell. yesssssssssssssssssssss much better I can continue hating Adel now. -Oh FUCK At the start of 7-1 Heather said she was taking a few personal days, but I didn't note it because it seemed unimportant. Turns out she went to visit her comatose/otherwise hospitalized mother. And her father shows up too. AND HER FATHER IS MERCER. -Mercer tells Heather she made a mistake in choosing her profession. lolwut -Wow, shut down. Heather basically calls Mercer out by saying no matter how many HOA doctors he creates, he'll never be able to save his wife. Ouch. -Mercer talks to himself cryptically, and reveals the names of the Neo-GUILT: Nous, Bythos, Sige, and Aletheia. -Detective Whosits is on the case of Acropolis. He reveals that they already suspected HOA/Acropolis were illegally researching GUILT. -****'s gonna go down tomorrow. Episode 3: Truth Unveiled -XD @ Kasal 2's reaction to the investigation of Acropolis. [with incredibly smug look on his face] "Yeah, I'm sure no one anticipated this." -Stiles and the others are part of the investigation, in case they start breaking out GUILT attacks. -Stiles and Angie talk to Blackwell... Oh right, Emilio's last name was Juarez. That explains that whole "Juarez case" thing. Blackwell signed on to spy on HOA in order to solve the mystery of the GUILT that killed him. -Blackwell says that Delphi hasn't been pulling the strings here, it's all on Acropolis/HOA. -More talking. They get interrupted when an officer tells them about a GUILT patient. -...Or multiple GUILT patients. Seems all the HOA doctors are collapsing. -10 minutes, three patients, open skull surgery. I DON'T LIKE THE SOUND OF THAT!! -Well, that wasn't too bad at all! Aneurysms and tumors was all. The only problem was, uh, time, and even that wasn't so bad since I finished first try with ~30 seconds left. -B rank. Episode 4: Dream's End -They can't find Mercer or any of the other upper management people. -Adel wants to talk to Stiles. -Adel talks about how it isn't fair that he wasn't as talented as Stiles when he was trying so hard to help the people of Costigar. Then he mentions Mercer's secret, Neo-GUILT. Then he flips out and turns evil and says: "The great silence - Sige - has changed me. I am a new creation!" Wow, this dialogue is terrible. "Dr. Stiiiiles... Do you know what else the 'Healing' Touch is good for? [beat] KILLING!" See, I told you, Derek! Should've kicked the kidnappers' asses. Also, narm alert. -Adel eventually collapses so we begin the operation. -Apparently there's no known way to fight Sige. Blackwell's going to be assisting as best he can, though. -We use the ultrasound to find Sige and use the scalpel to reveal it, but it creates a bunch of gas. Quoth Blackwell: "Grab that air compressor! Use it to disperse the gas! (Blow into the microphone!)" oh god XD -Well, that wasn't too bad. Sige goes nuts and bounces around, so you need to use medi-gel to slow it down and then scalpel it. After doing that twice, it creates two clones, and you need to only attack the main body. I... just used a Healing Touch to deal with its last two HP. :/ -A rank. -Adel's back to normal. He apologizes and says he doesn't deserve to be a doctor. But Stiles is like "you have the desire to help people. The HT doesn't matter." =/ -Mercer calls Heather and says "if Tracy [his wife] ever wakes up, take care of her for me". Episode 5: Hall of Shadows -Apparently there's some medical supplier in the town of Palmwood that Mercer also owns; it's large and important enough to justify a bunch of defenses. So it's basically a fortress. And it's where Team Good is heading next. -Stiles, Angie, and Heather are the med-team that's accompanying the National Guard to attack the fortress. -...sigh. The soldiers walk into a trap and get exploded. So they need treatment ASAP. Time for us to save the day again! -3 patients, 5 minutes?! THAT'S NOT FAIR AT ALL! -Okay, despite the strict time limit, that really wasn't hard at all. I'm getting pretty good at treating burns! -C rank, though. <_< -Caduceus are waiting outside the factory. Chase has a package for Stiles and is waiting for his military escort. Episode 6: The Altar -Heather wants to try talking to Mercer, but wants backup in case of hazards, so she asks for Stiles and Angie to accompany her. Yaaaaay forcing the PCs into situations where they aren't needed! -Mercer brought his wife here. He's planning to use the Neo-GUILT Bythos to wake her up. -Surprise surprise, it just causes her condition to worsen, and we have to operate. -Oh, so Bythos is that cactus GUILT! Well then. That's just wonderful. -Ha. Pathetic. The thing about Bythos is, it's pretty easy as long as you don't screw up. If you do screw up... ehhh just start over, it's not worth it. It's also pretty awesome if you can get two hits on it from one HT. Which I did. Because I'm awesome. -S rank. -Looks like Heather's mom is going to be okay. Well, as okay as you can be while in a coma. -...siiiiigh. Mercer got away while we were operating. Episode 7: Mother of Sins -Stiles and co. head through the hidden passage Mercer used to escape. Chase follows after them with the package that is apparently the only way to stop Neo-GUILT. -Stiles and co. find Mercer and Mayuzumi. -Mayuzumi became the host for Aletheia so she could stay young and beautiful. Sigh. I said this about Bleach recently, but I'll say it again: the worst thing is that this WAS foreshadowed. Derek complimented her on looking a lot younger than she is when they first met. -_- -Haha. Mercer injected something into Mayuzumi without her knowledge to test Aletheia, and immediately she ages into an old woman. -If she dies, the GUILT inside the tanks throughout the factory will be released. Goddammit. All right Stiles, you know the drill: SAVE THE GIRL, SAVE THE WORLD -They have no idea how to treat her. Luckily, Chase to the rescue with a Neo-GUILT antibiotic. -Stiles puts Chase and Heather to work trying to kill the GUILT in the culture tanks, to minimize damage if they fail. -Angie says the chiral reaction is centering around her heart. So we're dealing with Savato mkII, I guess? -Time limit: 10 minutes. Yep, definitely Savato mkII. Sigh. Savato was just not fun to fight against, hopefully this will be better. -A giant eyeball appears on her heart. Also, what the hell is with this music? -...Oh fuck you. Aletheia can summon the other types of GUILT to defend itself. That's HORRIBLE. -...Actually, this is sort of novel. You kill one of the mini-GUILT, then inject the anti-GUILT serum into Aletheia. Repeat. After an entire wave of GUILT is destroyed, inject the serum about 4 times, and Aletheia will start siphoning vitals from the patient. You have to sever all of its... siphoners without touching the active one, which is easily spotted by being red and moving in a circle. This part gave me the most trouble until I figured out what I was doing wrong (the last one you have to cut has a slightly shorter time window, so slightly that I didn't even notice until I decided to stop early just in case). Also, one time, one of these things turned invincible for some reason. I have no idea why, but it caused me to lose. -_- Obviously, if you fail this part, Aletheia regains health. Don't let that happen. Just don't. -...Annnd like Savato, you need to use the Healing Touch on its last phase, to slow it down, so if you used the HT before then, I guess you're ****ed. Or maybe it's not even available, I dunno. Luckily the last phase, after HT, is just another "cut the siphoners" thing. And Stiles and Angie deliver an awesome And This Is For after cutting each one, lol. So you get stuff like "And this for the hopes and dreams of all mankind!" Ha. Awesome. This so much better than pointless angst. -As an aside, in UtK1, the final boss is a lot more dramatic. Stiles drops a Healing Touch in order to slow Savato down enough to kill it, but it's faster than him EVEN DURING THE HEALING TOUCH. So Stiles uses a second Healing Touch and stops time. I have no idea why he doesn't use that ability more often. Seems like it would be useful. -B rank. :\ -Stiles sends Heather to get a bomb squad to unhook Mayuzumi. -Mercer tries to blow up the factory anyway, but then *BULLETS!* Stiles prepares to operate, but Chase says he's already dead. =/ -...And Heather returns to see her father dead on the ground. Awwwkwaaaard. Episode 8: Epilogue -There's a meeting between Hoffman, Kasal, and a bunch of councilors. The councilors basically say "our bad, we were idiots to trust HOA and Acropolis over Caduceus". Hoffman says the whole incident was caused because medical science has changed from healing the sick to controling aspects of people's lives that should fall on the people themselves - ie, medicine is being used to make people beautiful and fight aging rather than more important things. He says it's no wonder people grasped at GUILT like some sort of forbidden fruit. Nice theory - and I really mean that - BUT IT'S COMPLETELY WRONG. Mercer was trying to cure his wife's illness! THAT WAS THE WHOLE POINT. It was everyone else in his organization that Hoffman is right about, but they didn't start it. -Chase, Clarks, Leslie, and Victor are talking. Apparently Victor created a super-effective anti-GUILT treatment. They also mention that Stiles and Angie are on a plane going... somewhere. Leslie: I'm a little jealous that they get to practice their honeymoon so many times... Me: asdfgsgdsgdshd WHAT?! That's a little risque for a Nintendo game. o_O -Adel left too. He's back in Costigar and doing good. He asks uh... what's her name. Sylvia. To tell Stiles that he's grateful for everything. -Angie and Stiles are on a plane. Angie reads a letter from Heather; she apparently transferred to Caduceus' East Branch. -...Huh. I guess Stiles is going to study under somebody named Dr. Irvine, with the implication being that he's going to figure out how to cure Heather's mom? I dunno. -Annnd it's finally made explicit that Stiles and Angie are in a relationship now. The credits scroll over a picture of the two of them that could pass for a wedding picture if they weren't in uniform. >_> -Also, the credits song is ****ing weird and not mood appropriate at all. I REQUIRE CHEESY LOVE SONGS FOR CREDITS THEMES IN ALL MY GAMES. And uh... at the end of the credits it says something like "CONGRATULATIONS! You're a master of the Healing Touch!" but I didn't realize it was there so it disappeared before I could really read it and make sure that's what it said. To YouTube! "CONGRATULATIONS! You are a true master of the Healing Touch!" Yeah uh. Gee. Thanks. -Beating the game also unlocked the X missions. If they're anything like the first game, they're basically the normal GUILT missions, only on ****ing STEROIDS. I beat all of these in UtK1 except X7: Savato*, but I definitely don't have the patience to do it again. So fuck it. *Yeah, my terrible secret is out. I never beat the last mission in UtK1. I was just too burnt out from X1 to waste a bunch of time on X7. It's not even as hard as X1 - and I'm not the only one who thinks so; that's the general consensus - but I spent SO LONG trying to beat X1 that when I finally did it, I just blitzed through the next 5 with few problems, and then tried X7 like... four times maybe, before giving up entirely. Maybe someday I'll go back and beat it, I'd certainly be a lot more motivated to do that than do the X missions in UtK2. -Anyway, that's the end of that. Overall, not nearly as bad of a game as the sheer amount of bitching I did might make you think, but worth $30? No. Luckily I paid $10! Which it was worth. Probably. </spoiler> --- "There's a pony in the shop, but don't buy it. It might do something unfortunate to you." ~from the first Summoner's Seal topic |
