Chapter 28 - Battle before Dawn

Well, this is the chapter I've been looking forward to/dreading the entire run!

Pre-deployment notes:
Sold the White Gem received last chapter.

I also have never bought Bows as far as I know, so I'm actually out of Iron Bows for Lyn, gave her a Short Bow and a Steel Bow for now.

Deployment (10/10): Hector, Lyn, Fiora, Raven, Serra, Guy, Ninian, Matthew, Pent, Harken.

Eliwood is staying so far away from this that if you could undeploy him from appearing on the deployment menu I'd do it.

Legault is also staying behind because I'm currently thinking I'd rather have Harken, but depending on how this goes, I may have to switch him back in.

All right! Let's do this!

Initial plan:
Left Front: Fiora, Raven, Serra, Harken, Hector
Right Front: Lyn, Guy, Matthew, Ninian, Pent

I have a bad feeling that I remember the Hector Normal Mode of this chapter stacking the right side (in both Eliwood modes, the left side is easily the more dangerous side), and the right team is probably the weaker of the groups I'm sending, but I'm hoping that Lyn and Guy can fight through it, mostly Lyn though.

way to job matthew

dying on turn 1 enemy phase.

restart

thank you for dodging the mage this time matthew

Physic on Matthew.
Physic on Guy.
Guy levels. HP, STR, SKL, SPD.

Bah! Ursula's pet named Paladin popped out with 62 HP and hit Fiora quite hard.
Harken and Raven combine to drop him though in addition to Fiora's counter.
Physic on Lyn.

god jaffar is crazy, why is he rushing their position?

Physic on Guy.
Fiora defeats a Thief who had just unlocked the west treasure room.

If Jaffar can survive this enemy phase, I actually think I could be in fairly good shape. But that's a huge if given his current bout of insane moves.

Ursula targets Guy with Bolting. Misses.
Zephiel is attacked by a fighter, who misses.
Jaffar survives!

Physic on Jaffar.
Recruited Nino.

Ninian attacked by Ursula's Bolting. Misses.
Pent levels. HP, SKL.

Hector uses an Elixir.
Physic on Jaffar.
Matthew gets a Rescue Staff.
Pent uses a Vulnerary.

Guy hit by Ursula's Bolting and a mercenary.

A huge melee is going on by Jaffar, involving him, Raven, Fiora, and Serra.

Matthew gets the Delphi Shield.
Physic on Guy.
Fiora levels. HP, SKL, SPD, Luck.

Guy hit by Bolting again.

Physic on Guy.
Raven levels. Just HP.
Physic on Raven.
Serra levels. SKL, Luck, RES.

Bolting misses on Guy. Assuming those were all Ursula, she should be out.
Jaffar also has broken his Killing Edge now.

Heal on Jaffar.
Fiora with a super clutch Javelin crit on a General next to Jaffar.

Running low on turns, so time for a risky pro maneuver.
Nini's Grace on Matthew.
Matthew is now going to rush right into the melee near Jaffar's location!
Revealed Ursula's location with Guy.
Put Lyn two spaces from Ursula and equipped the Short Bow.

Haha, the enemy mages rushed Jaffar instead of Matthew! crisis averted!

Moved Lyn back a step to keep Ursula alive for now (she's at 5 HP after Lyn countered on the last enemy phase)

Heal on Jaffar.
Finally snuck Nino across the center of the map, Nino talks to Jaffar.

Matthew gets a Brave Lance.

WHAT THE!

URSULA JUST WENT MOBILE!

Ursula hits Guy with Elfire.

that's it, she must be eliminated, that's too big a risk.

Lyn defeats Ursula.
Lyn levels. HP, SKL, SPD.
Matthew gets the Boots.

I decide to take a risk and explore the map for the last enemy when I hear the map theme change.

Luna Druid. Haha, this could be disastrous.
Fiora the only one left with a move.
Luna Druid has 56% Hit and 11% Crit on her.
Let's do this!
owned druid owned.

Fiora levels. HP, SKL.

victory

Hahaha, not only did I beat Battle before Dawn, I cleared the map. And if not for Matthew being a jobber on Turn 1, I'd have done it in one attempt! This almost feels like a letdown after all the hype I built up in my mind!

Genesis still stands alone in terms of frustration!
Chapter 28x - Night of Farewells

Pre-deployment notes:
Eliwood promoted.

Deployment (11/11): Hector, Nino, Lyn, Eliwood, Fiora, Raven, Serra, Guy, Ninian, Matthew, Legault.

Looking at the enemies and their items, this actually looks like this could be a challenger to Genesis if I'm not careful.

Nino levels. HP, SKL, SPD.
Raven levels. HP, SKL, SPD.
Nino levels. HP, SKL, SPD, Luck.
Nino levels. SKL, SPD, RES.
Nino levels. MAG, SKL, SPD, Luck, DEF, RES.

Jaffar berserked.
Silence miss on Serra.

fffffffff

Fiora put to sleep, and a bunch of reinforcements. Guy, Matthew, and Raven basically stranded. augh...

Now Serra is silenced. augh....

If I make it through all this it will be legendary.

Nino levels. SPD, Luck, RES.
Lyn levels. HP, SKL, SPD, Luck, DEF, RES. lolz she only "missed" STR, and that's maxed!
Fiora levels. SKL, RES.
Nino levels. MAG, SKL, Luck, RES.

A Thief got a Speedwings.
However, Fiora somehow survived getting attacked around 15 times, by dodging 14 of them.
Fiora defeats the Thief who got the Speedwings and regains them. Doing so has put her in severe danger though.

hahahahaha ffffffffffffffff

completely forgot there was a sage in that cluster of units where Fiora was. It gets Nino after I advance everyone to meet that cluster. I checked the Nomad in the area but completely forgot that wasn't the only two range unit there.

restart

Fiora put to sleep. I should restart because I refuse to believe she can survive 4 turns, but...

Nino levels. HP, MAG, SPD, Luck.
Raven levels. SKL, RES.
Nino levels. HP, SPD.

Yep, knew Fiora couldn't last there with 50% HP for long

restart.

This time didn't underestimate the Sleep Druid's range, so he couldn't hit Fiora. A Bishop with Sleep tried to troll me then by aiming at Fiora, but he missed. Fiora successfully defeats the Silence Mage.

Nino levels. HP, MAG, SPD.
Raven levels. HP, DEF.
Bishop misses on Fiora with Sleep again.
Nino levels. SKL, SPD, Luck, RES.

Jaffar put to sleep.

(Legault stole a Blue Gem around here somewhere)
Nino levels. MAG, DEF, RES.
Fiora levels. HP, SPD, Luck, RES.

Berserk miss on Eliwood.
Berserk miss on Jaffar.

Legault steals an Angelic Robe.
Nino levels. SKL, SPD, Luck.
Guy levels. HP, SKL.

Guy, Matthew, and Legault are "stuck" on an island (not really, there is a path connecting it, but it's very long and out of the way) and need to somehow survive a bunch of Wyverns and Ballista fire. If they can, I should be in pretty good shape.

Let's see if this PRO MANEUVER backfires.

Traded Matthew's sword to Legault in order to get a net increase in his avoid by taking away WTA for the Wyverns.

Matthew survived this turn at least, of course, getting hit by a Wyvern meant he had to dodge the other one and both ballistas, but somehow he did it!

Serra levels. HP, SPD, Luck.

Matthew somehow survives another turn in the same fashion!

Fiora put to sleep. *sigh*

Nino levels. HP, SKL, SPD.
Lyn levels. HP, SPD, Luck.
Jaffar levels. HP, SKL, RES.

Sleep miss on Serra.

Nino levels. HP, MAG, SPD, Luck.

Legault put to sleep.

Nino levels. MAG, SKL, SPD, Luck, RES.
Restore on Fiora thanks to a bridge popping up that gave Serra a way to stand next to her.
Going to take a chance with Fiora v Luna Druid. 59% Hit, 10% Crit.
Fiora is hit, but not crit, so survives.

Speedwings taken by an Enemy Thief.

Fiora defeats that Enemy Thief and retakes the Speedwings.

Okay, I think practically all my objectives that required me to push forward (Steal Blue Gem, Angelic Robe, and get Speedwings) have been accomplished, so I'm going to regroup now.

Letting Fiora absorb Sonia's Boltings.
Sonia misses on Fiora.
Nino levels. SKL, SPD.
Sonia misses again.
Eliwood levels. HP, SPD.
Sonia hits.
Nino levels. MAG, SKL, Luck, RES.
Sonia misses.
Sonia hits, and is now out of Boltings.
Serra levels. MAG, RES.
Fiora levels. HP, SKL (Maxed), RES.
Nino levels. MAG, SKL.
Nino levels. HP, MAG, SPD, Luck.
Nino/Jaffar C-Support.
Matthew gets a Recover Staff.
Matthew gets a Fenrir.
Nino levels. MAG, SKL, Luck, RES.
Matthew gets Thor's Ire.
Nino levels. SKL, Luck.
Through a pretty convoluted attack plan, I'm able to somehow get Eliwood to get the last hit on Sonia. She must be pretty embarrassed to lose to Eliwood.
Eliwood levels. HP, SKL, SPD.

Now just grinding Nino/Jaffar support.

victory
Chapter 29 - Cog of Destiny

Ahahahahahaha.

You know what I realized? I never gave Nino the Afa's Drops. Personally, I blame these writeups, they severely mess up my natural rhythm when it comes to playing this game. Well, Nino's Level 18 now, but uh... better late than never, I suppose.

Pre-deployment notes:
Gave Nino the Afa's Drops.
Gave Nino an Angelic Robe.
Sold Blue Gem.

Fiora reaches the village and gets the Warp Staff from Murdock.
Raven is defeated. augh.

Chapter 30 - The Berserker

I'm still really annoyed about that whole Afa's Drop thing, I've played through this game probably close to 20 or 30 times, and I've never done anything like that before. I wasn't kidding when I said I think the writeups have something to do with it. >_>

Deployment (2/2): Hector, Legault.

I really, really didn't want to bring Legault here, but only 2 deployments, Hector forced, and one enemy with a Speedwings, and another with a Goddess Icon... and I'm not left with much choice.

Hector's Iron Rune stolen.
Hector gets it back.

Wolf Beil stolen.
I'm anticipating a restart because I have no idea how to handle this yet.

Pure Water stolen.

Stole Speedwings.
Hector levels. HP, SKL.

The Thieves can flee the level. *sigh*

Switched Hector's items to include a Hammer and Silver Axe, and for Legault to have an Armorslayer.

Switching Legault for Matthew just to see what happens.

restarted because i saw it was going to be impossible, plus i came up with a new plan.

Hector's Elixir stolen.
Hector regains his Elixir.

this isn't really happening

Matthew's lockpick stolen.

I'm also blocked now so I probably lose.

Stole Lockpick back.
Lockpick stolen again.

restart because this level

Okay, as far as I can tell, it's just impossible to salvage all the treasure, and get the Speedwings and Goddess Icon unless somehow you have a Thief with max stats in like everything.

So, I'm going to just abandon that Pure Water.

Wolf Beil stolen.

fffffffff damn you matthew

Switching back to Legault because he can tank more than one knight.

Wolf Beil stolen.
Pure Water stolen.
Wolf Beil reclaimed by Legault.

Completed Super Scribblenauts. Some of the Action stages I beat by glitching them really badly.

-In one, it turns out you can interact with switches through a layer of solid ground, allowing you to bypass the level's puzzle entirely.

-In another, if you attach glue to the air vents at the bottom of the level, the spiked crushers will move down, fail to destroy the glue, and get stuck. You can then fly straight to the Starite, rather than having to enact a complicated plan to bring it to you.

After beating all the levels on Advanced mode, I got the last few Merits. The final one (write 300 unique adjectives) took me about 20 minutes of just typing in stuff like, "Saintly sardonic sarcastic stylish sacred successful hairy helpful hatefilled hilarious humorous turtle", and just hoping some/most of those adjectives were acceptable. Was a lot less painful than it could have been, though.

You might've been able to pull it off by giving the Boots to Matthew/Legault. <_<

The problem wasn't their movement range, it was their incompetence.

Matthew could only survive getting hit once, a second hit would kill him. Legault could survive multiple hits, anywhere between 2-4, but his chance of one rounding anything, even with the Armorslayer, took a hit, and even Matthew couldn't always do it.

The only way even Hector could do it was with a Silver Axe or Hammer, and like 70% of the field had Axereavers so the Hammer would have like 50% hit and the Silver Axe around 75% hit.

With even one more unit, it would have been trivial. Or if Matthew/Legault had way better offensive/defensive stats.

Chapter 7

So, one of Hector's generals, Leygance, and his good buddy Devias (wow, that name just screams trustworthy, doesn't it) have started a rebellion. Leygance captured Lilina and is holding her in Castle Ostia.

This is a weird, weird map. It's huge, for one thing, and there are a bunch of red houses, which mean "goodies here". I also get 13 units, which means Marcus, Lot, and Merlinus will be joining us. I sorta want to use Sue, but she's level 1, and ehhhhhh effort.

So apparently, a group of Ilian mercs had a contract with Hector to battle Bern. Roy believes that the contract has been nulled with Hector's death and wonders if he can rehire them, but Merlinus informs him that they plan to honor the contract regardless of Hector's death. Pretty awesome. Roy tells Merlinus to send a letter to Cecilia, his teacher in Etruria, and ask for her aid against Bern as well.

Wolt levels. HP, Str, Spd.
Lugh levels. HP.
Rutger levels. HP, Skl, Res.
Chad levels. HP, Skl, Spd, Luk.

As the chapter progresses, I pick up three Ilian cavaliers. Zealot is their leader, a paladin. Treck is his subordinate and is boring. And Noah is a pretty cool guy, first seen mentoring a swordswoman named Fir at the arena. (Fir is, IIRC, the daughter of Bartre and Karla.)

Lance levels. HP, Skl, Spd, Luk, Def. I might have missed a level or two just now, I dunno, I was trying really, really hard to not die. (Fuckin' Y-Burns are basically minibosses in this game, I swear. 16 damage per attack to my cavaliers? I THINK SO.)

Lot levels. HP, Str, Luk, Res.

I just noticed some chests in the upper right hand corner. AWAY.

Soon, four soldiers, two mages, and two archers appear from the boss' room.

Devias: Heh... that Lycia army will be shocked when they get it from behind!

(he's talking about reinforcements arriving from the south.)

Yep, four cavaliers from the south. disgusting.

Wolt levels. HP, Spd, Def.
Clarine levels. HP, Skl, Spd, Luk. I can't even complain about these levels, or get excited about them. They're just so... average.

Wolt and Lugh are handling 100% of the northern reinforcements like a pro (with Marcus' help as a meatshield), while Lance, Lot, Rutger, and a deequiped Zealot are blocking off and combatting the cavaliers. Rutger has nearly died twice so far this attempt, only to dodge a Javelin and survive. Geez.

Alan levels. HP, Spd, Luk. Whew, that was hairy. Why would they give a random reinforcement a Silver Lance. that's terrible.
Wolt levels. Skl. Terrible. I hate you, Wolt.
Clarine levels. HP, Magic, Res.

So I've been trying for many levels to get a Dieck/Thany support, and finally managed a C rank. It's about Dieck telling Thany not to call him "Captain".

Thany: Okay then, I'll call you "bro", like Lot and Ward do!
Dieck: No.

XD

I might as well explain how supports work in this game. Basically, each support requires like 60 points, or some such. And each turn that ends with two compatible characters next to each other adds a certain number of points to their support. However, unlike in FE7, you can only accumulate 120 points total per chapter.

Yeah.

So, for instance, Wolt and Roy have a support available. I didn't activate that support and I'm not planning to. But it used up half of my support potential for one chapter anyway.

It's stupid.

Oh god XD Rutger/Clarine C-rank support. It's about Clarine complimenting Rutger's looks, but adding that he's not anywhere near as hot as her brother. God. This is somehow even more explicit than FE8. Unbelievable.

Lugh levels. Skl, Spd, Luk. And again, same stats. Ugh. Level 12 with 7 Magic. Terrible. You are not even 1/30th as good as your mother, Lugh.

Lugh was, however, the ONLY one in my party who could handle Devias, what with him being an armor knight and all. Ugh. Well, that's how he got two levels, anyway.

Chapter 31 - Sands of Time

Deployment (13/15): Hector, Lyn, Eliwood, Nino, Fiora, Raven, Serra, Guy, Jaffar, Legault, Matthew, Pent, Harken

Looking at the map this is looking like a fairly good attempt at trolling me.

The main group at the throne: Hector, Lyn, Eliwood, Fiora, Guy, Legault, Matthew, Pent, Harken.
The group separated off from them, closer to Denning: Nino, Raven, Serra, Jaffar.

Nino/Jaffar A-Support.
Serra levels. HP, Luck, RES.

Silence miss on Pent.
Jaffar put to Sleep.
Raven berserked.

And this is why the bottom team is the more competent one, because they're the ones going to draw the majority of this kind of stuff.

Guy defeats the Silence Druid.
Hector levels. STR, SKL, SPD, Luck, DEF.
Restore on Raven.
Raven levels. SKL.
Nino levels. HP, MAG, Luck.

Guy put to sleep.
Berserk miss on Raven.

Restore on Jaffar.
augh raven got hit by nosferatu on sleep druid's counter, so it lived. augh.
Raven's probably screwed. 9 HP after that disaster.
Eliwood levels. HP, STR, SPD, RES.
Nino kills the Berserk Druid.
Restore on Guy.

yep Raven died.

restart

Serra levels. HP, Luck, RES.
Nino/Jaffar A Support.

Silence miss on Pent
Jaffar put to sleep.
Raven berserked.

Restore on Raven.
Raven levels. SKL, DEF.
Guy defeats the Silence Druid.
Hector levels. HP, Luck, DEF, RES.

Nino levels. HP.
Guy put to sleep.
Raven berserked.

Restore on Guy.
Restore on Raven.

Raven levels. HP.
ahahaha
Enemy NPC Knight put to Sleep.
Berserk miss on Serra.

Thanks for helping me out there Sleep Druid!

Legault gets a White Gem.
Heal on Guy.
Restore on Jaffar.

fffffffffffffffffffffff

accidentally drew Denning.

Okay, okay, we can still handle this.

Heal on Guy.
Harken levels. STR, SKL, SPD.
Vulnerary on Jaffar.
Physic on Raven.
Legault gets a Dragonshield.

Guy levels. HP, Luck, RES.
Hector missing twice on a double with 89% hit. Damnit Hector, if I wanted to send Eliwood to handle that, I would have!
Raven levels. Luck, RES.

uh oh.

i thought horsewood had his first ever use. rescuing raven to get him back out of denning's range after i sent him one square in to help kill a general.

but i failed to consider horsewood was so terrible as to not get out of a sniper's range during this maneuver.

Body Ring stolen by an enemy Thief. This was actually part of the plan.
Fiora getting hit by Denning and an enemy sniper was not. She was supposed to pull Denning, not get hit. *sigh*

Physic on Fiora. This puts Serra in Denning's range. Can't go wrong!
Horsewood drops Raven, he actually wasn't attacked for some reason!
Fiora defeats the Thief who took the Body Ring and gets it back.

Denning goes after Serra.
Hector gets hit by Luna ffffffffffffffffffff

Elixir on Hector. Which won't help him if both Luna Druids go for him, but I've sent out Matthew, Harken, and Pent to hopefully act as decoys for one of them.
Vulnerary on Nino.

Serra levels. HP, SPD, Luck, RES.

HARKEN! MVP! MVP! MVP!

SAVING ME FROM WHAT WOULD HAVE BEEN MY WORST DEFEAT THE ENTIRE RUN!

SO THERE I WAS BEING ME
AND I WAS GOING "IT'D BE A GOOD IDEA TO SEND DECOYS TO KEEP BOTH THE LUNA DRUIDS FROM KILLING HECTOR"
AND COMMON SENSE WAS GOING "BUT WAIT A SECOND, WOULDN'T THAT PUT YOUR DECOYS AT THAT SAME RISK IF YOU DON'T CHECK THE RANGES ON THE DRUIDS AND PUT THEM IN RANGE OF BOTH?"
AND I WAS LIKE "HAHA YEAH OKAY! WHATEVER!"
AND THEN HARKEN WAS LIKE "**** THAT I'M HARKEN!"
AND HARKEN DODGED THE SECOND LUNA SOMEHOW

if i lose after that i'll be so disappointed

Also, Serra got hit by Denning and amazingly dodged like 4 attacks after that when she only would have needed to dodge one if she wasn't defeating every unit who attacked her, letting more through.

Heal on Serra.

MOMENT. OF. TRUTH.

Guy was able to defeat one of those Two Luna Druids because he's Guy. But everyone else will be at risk of death by critical.

Hector is in barely the best shape, second to Harken. Luna Druid has 73% Hit, 9% Crit on Hector.
Hector is hit, but not crit.
Hector levels. HP, STR, SPD.
Heal on Hector.
Heal on Nino.

Heal on Harken.
Vulnerary on Fiora.

Last turn!

Heal on Guy.
Lyn crits Denning. what a pro.
Lyn levels. SKL, Luck.
Vulnerary on Serra.
Heal on Serra (I was going to send Nino on offense, but decided to heal Serra at the last second.)

yessssssssssssssssssss

victory

owned sands of time owned
Chapter 31x - Battle Preparations

Pre-deployment notes:
Sold White Gem.
Serra gets a Dragonshield.
Nino gets a Body Ring.

Battle Preparations is always more like an Inventory Management puzzle for me, where I try to figure out just how I can load up the most quality items I can for the remaining chapters.

Deployment (10/10): Hector, Lyn, Eliwood, Nino, Fiora, Raven, Serra, Guy, Jaffar, Legault.

Okay, I have 72,998 gold after the 30,000 gold is given at the start of the chapter.

Turn 1
Lyn to the Arena.
Lyn wins.
Lyn levels. HP, SKL (Maxed), Luck.

Serra to a shop with the Silver Card.
Serra buys: 3 Thunder, 1 Elfire, 1 Lighning, 1 Shine, 1 Divine.

Silver Card traded over to Fiora.

Turn 2
Lyn uses the Arena.
Lyn wins.

Fiora with the Silver Card visits an Armory.
Fiora buys: 17 Silver Swords, 20 Killing Edges, 3 Steel Swords.

Hector/Lyn talk for the conversation they get with an A-Support.

Turn 3
Lyn uses the Arena.
Lyn wins.
Nino levels from healing Lyn. HP, DEF.
Nino reaches D Rank in Staves as well, which was the true purpose I had in all of this.

Fiora visits another Armory
Fiora buys: 3 Silver Lances, 4 Killer Lances, 4 Javelins

Turn 4
Lyn uses the Arena.
Lyn wins.
Lyn levels. SPD (Maxed).

Fiora visits another Armory.
Fiora buys: 5 Silver Axes, 4 Killer Axes, 6 Hand Axes.

Last Turn
Lyn uses the Arena.
Lyn wins.

Fiora visits a Shop
Fiora buys: 7 Mend Staffs, 4 Recover Staffs, 2 Restore Staffs, and 8 Elixirs.
Fiora then flies next to Raven with her remaining move, who has been standing on the final Armory.
Raven trades for the Silver Card.
Raven visits the Armory.
Raven buys: 3 Silver Bows, 4 Killer Bows.

After all that I have 7843 Gold.

victory

.........You take Battle Preparations way too seriously. >_>

I usually just buy a few Killer weapons, a few Iron weapons, and end turn repeatedly. <_<

Chapter 8

Chapter begins with narration about how history says that Castle Ostia was thought to be "unconquerable", but that history was proven wrong. By Roy. Who wished to protect the castle. yessssssssss

Okay, so Leygance gives an order to discreetly kill Lilina during the battle so he can blame the Lycia Army for it and thus galvanize the rebels who still put faith in her. Cut to Roy, he's approached by a man named Astol/Asthor who used to work for Hector. He's a spy (that is, a thief), and is working with us now to save Lilina.

Chad levels. HP, Str, Skl, Spd.

...oh fuck. That is HORRIBLE. Lilina is in a little cell halfway through the map. She's a blue unit, which means she's controllable. But she has no weapon, and the enemies will attack her. FUCK. That means I REALLY need to hustle.

Lot levels. HP, Str.
Roy levels. HP, Str.

...So, I have an idea. I'm going to purposely leave Thany in the range of the archer that's attacking Lilina, without a javelin equipped. I think she has enough Defense to tank the hit, and hopefully the archer will prioritize her.

......Okay, he does not. Saw that coming. This means I'll probably need to leave Clarine behind, with the Physic staff, and heal Lilina every turn.

Thany levels. HP, Skl, Spd, Luk.

...Huh, that's odd. The archer ignored Lilina that turn. On the other hand, there's a knight with a Horseslayer, which kinda shuts down my "cavalier rush kekekekekeke" strategy.

Lance levels. Str, Skl.
Clarine levels. HP, Skl.

Yes! Three new units arrive, flanking the enemy from the west. Two armor knights, Wendy and Barth, and a merc, Oujay (whose last name is definitely not Simpson).

Alan levels. HP, Skl, Spd, Luk.

There's a huge enemy force coming, but I figure I can have the whole party converge at a choke point and HOLD THE LINE.

...Okay fuck. The enemies aren't advancing, and two thieves have shown up, one of them Cath. Dunno what she's doing here, but now I really need to hustle.

Lance levels. HP, Str, Skl, Spd.
Lot levels. Luk.
Alan levels. HP, Skl.
Clarine levels. Magic, Skl, Luk, Res.

...oh that pisses me off. Cath got a Killer Bow from a chest, and you can't steal weapons back. I only allow this because I got a Lockpick off her again, and I think those sell for more than Killer Bows are worth. But damn. That pisses me off so much I can't even see straight.

Okay, awesome. Roy talked to Lilina and gave her a Thunder tome. Now let's get shit done.

...holy **** Roy/Lilina supports build fast. One turn for a C-rank?! That is ridiculous, FE6!

Dieck levels. HP, Skl.
Lilina levels. HP, Magic, Skl, Luk.
Lance levels. HP, Str.
Rutger levels. HP, Skl, Spd, Luk.
Lilina levels. ........Def. God damn you.
Lilina levels. HP, Magic, Spd, Res.
Lilina levels. Magic, Skl, Luk.
Clarine levels. HP, Spd, Luk, Res.
Alan levels. HP, Str, Spd, Luk.

So let's see. The enemy boss is a General. The highest hit rate I've seen against him so far is 56%. For 3 damage. I do not like those odds. Normally, I'd try to take him from range, rescuing my attacker so he doesn't switch to his javelin. In this case, though, he's got a Silver Lance equipped, and I think I need to attack offensively, so I'll put a unit in range, let him javelin them, and attack him while he has the weaker weapon equipped.

Okay, Lance couldn't handle the pressure, so Dieck had to step in, take the Armorslayer, and crit Leygance just for good measure.

Dieck levels. ...........HP. FUUUUUCK YOOOOOU DIECKKKKK
Clarine levels. HP, Luk.

Roy conquers the castle. Lilina wants to know what's going on in Araphen, and whether her dad will be done fighting soon or not. Oh god. That's horrible. Roy's forced to tell her what happened.

Lilina: So everyone should have told me... They're too considerate... I'm strong too, you know...

Oh geez. Now I want to cry. (Especially after making the mistake of reading this quote again with ToV's Tragic Resolution playing.)

...

So, Roy, you conquered an unconquerable castle and saved the girl! What are you going to do now?

Roy: I'm going to a Gaiden Chapter!

Fuck yeah we are! Let's rock and roll!

I have no idea how CG7, et al. managed to shake off that archer attacking Lilina immediately. I mean, not only was my computer malfunctioning so I couldn't see how they did it, but I'm pretty sure no matter where I moved Lilina, the archer could get her. Which doesn't even make sense, looking at the map, unless he had a Long Bow for some reason in my game, but I swear, that's what happened.

Chapter 32 - Victory or Death

Deployment (14/15): Hector, Nils, Lyn, Eliwood, Nino, Fiora, Raven, Serra, Guy, Jaffar, Legault, Matthew, Pent, Harken.

Hahaha, I think Battle Preparations increased my Funds Rating! Silver Card best ever.

Limstella, why do you have 71 HP? Surely you don't need all of that. Can you share some of it with my party?

Well, I've got 20 turns to win to unlock 32x, let's do this.

Nino and Jaffar are going North.
Nils, Fiora, Serra, Guy, Eliwood, Legault, Matthew, and Harken are going through the center.
Hector, Lyn, Raven, and Pent are going south.

At least for now. I feel a bit nervous about Nino and Jaffar taking that entire area solo.

Guy levels. STR, SKL, SPD.
Jaffar levels. HP, DEF, RES.
Hector levels. HP, STR, SPD, DEF, RES.
Pent levels. HP, MAG, DEF, RES.
Pent dies. That was almost Sands of Time Harken levels of bad judgment on my part. How do I not notice 8 Wyverns a little north of his position? He had actually beaten 6 of them before the promoted ones started attacking.

restart

Guy levels. SKL, SPD.
Jaffar levels. HP, SKL, Luck.
Okay, let's try that whole wyvern swarm thing again, but this time without Pent being targeted by 8 of them.

Fiora levels. HP, Luck, RES.
Fiora gets Set's Litany.
Hector levels. HP, STR, SKL, DEF.
lolz did an EXP check on Lyn and Raven to see who would get a Paladin. Both at Level 20/16, 50 EXP.
Eliwood levels. HP, STR, SKL, RES.
Renault recruited.
Renualt running far away.
Raven gets a Talisman.
Jaffar levels. HP, SKL.
Pent levels. SPD, Luck, DEF.

*Sees Reinforcements* ffffffffffffffff

Guy levels. HP, SKL, SPD.
Nino levels. HP, Luck.

I am so screwed.

Raven levels. HP, SPD, RES.
Jaffar levels. HP, SKL, SPD.
Lyn levels. HP, Luck.
Jaffar levels. HP, SPD.
Nino levels. HP, SKL, DEF.

I have to to Limstella quick. It's already Turn 13. Though I'm amazed I survived all the reinforcements. Nino and Jaffar turned on God Mode and somehow defeated practically half the enemy army themselves, back-to-back on a bridge.

Fiora levels. HP, Luck.
Jaffar levels. HP, SKL, SPD, Luck.

Nino is beginning an infiltration mission to take down Limstella/Absorb the last 2 Boltings.
The bad news is that her Thunder and Elfire broke in her epic battles, so she's armed with Fire.

Serra levels. MAG, SKL, Luck (Maxed), RES.

Limstella out of Boltings.

I've actually got it down to just Limstella right now.

Nino levels. HP, MAG, SKL (Maxed), Luck.
Hector defeats Limstella with a critical.
Hector levels. HP, STR, SKL, Luck, DEF.

Matthew reaches the Secret Shop with Silver Card on Turn 19.
Matthew buys: 4 Physic.

Chapter 32x - The Value of Life

Deployment (5/5): Hector, Lyn, Nino, Fiora, Jaffar.

Nino is here so I have some kind of healing in the few non anti-magic zones. Technically Serra or Pent would probably be more effective because they can use Physic, but maybe this gives Nino a chance to reach B-Rank in Staves, so she can use Physic for Light, but probably not. Plus, she can give support bonuses to Jaffar, who is coming to unlock some chests.

Lyn is here because she's almost definitely the best physical combat unit in the army, and Fiora is here because I want to have someone who can use Lances here, and it's her or Eliwood.

Jaffar levels. HP, Luck, RES. Jaffar is at Level 20/20.
Hector levels. STR, SPD, Luck.
Fiora levels. HP, STR, Luck, DEF.
Hector levels. HP, SKL, SPD, RES. (or DEF, I think)
Hector levels. HP, SKL (Maxed).
Jaffar gets a Fortify.
Hector levels. SPD (Maxed), DEF.
Hector levels. HP, STR.
Jaffar gets a Runesword.
Lyn levels. HP, Luck, RES.
Hector levels. HP, DEF.
Fiora levels. HP.
Hector levels. HP, DEF (Maxed).
Fiora levels. HP, STR. Fiora is now Level 20/20.
Lyn levels. HP, Luck.
Nino reaches C-Rank in Staves.
Hector levels. HP, STR.
Hector levels. HP.

Just Kishuna remains.

Nino levels. HP, MAG.
Nino uses Hammerne on Hector's 8 use Wolf Beil for Weapon EXP.
Nino uses Hammerne on Lyn's 29 use Mani Katti for Weapon EXP.
Nino is going to spam Barrier for a little to hopefully get to B-Rank in Staffs.
Nino reaches B-Rank in Staves. aww yeah.

If only I brought the Status Effect staves! Nino's range is larger than Kishuna's anti-magic zone, I could try and berserk him or something! Or Silence for counter-trolling!

Hector opens the door to Kishuna.

Lyn levels. HP, RES. Lyn is at Level 20/20.
Hector levels. HP.

I believe reinforcements have stopped.

Nino levels. Luck. Nino is at Level 20/20.
Hector defeats Kishuna.

Comments: The Value of Life really helped Hector out and brought him back into the competent zone. A little disappointed in his STR, but Hector is back to being pretty awesome.

Lyn
Level: 20/20 EXP: --
HP: 58
STR: 24 (Max)
SKL: 29 (Max)
SPD: 30 (Max)
Luck: 26
DEF: 11

SPD: 13
Luck: 17
DEF: 14
RES: 11
Weapon Rank(s): Swords - A, Lances - C
Support(s): Fiora - A, Ninian - B
Comments: Eliwood is such a bad unit. It's not like I went out of my to not get him levels, it's just that it started getting to the point where trying to set him up for EXP would put the rest of the army at risk.

Nino
Level: 20/20 EXP: --

SPD: 26 (Max)
Luck: 27
DEF: 14

Weapon Rank(s): Anima Magic - S, Staves - B
Support(s): Jaffar - A
Comments: This still may be the worst Nino has turned out for me, but again, those stats still crush practically anyone. And the Victory or Death stand with Jaffar was MVP-tier.

Fiora
Level: 20/20 EXP: --
HP: 53
STR: 20

SPD: 28 (Max)
Luck: 17

STR: 25 (Max)
SKL: 28

MAG: 24
SKL: 19
SPD: 21
Luck: 30 (Max)
DEF: 9
RES: 26
Weapon Rank(s): Staves - S, Light Magic - A
Support(s): Hector - B, Matthew - B
Comments: Serra has done much better for me in HHM than in EHM. Again, if there's any flaw, it's in her durability.

Guy
Level: 20/13 EXP: 69
HP: 53
STR: 17
SKL: 26
SPD: 28
Luck: 14
DEF: 8
RES: 9
Weapon Rank(s): Swords - S
Support(s): Matthew - A
Comments: Guy has been pretty good, but that low STR has been disappointing for a while.

Jaffar
Level: --/20 EXP: --
HP: 41
STR: 19
SKL: 30 (Max)
SPD: 27
Luck: 13
DEF: 15
RES: 13
Weapon Rank(s): Swords - S
Support(s): Nino - A
Comments: I still have no idea how Jaffar survived that stand on Victory or Death. Wave after wave of Falcoknights and Valkyries turn after turn, only able to get healing from Nino every player phase before having to face it again. Easily MVP of Victory or Death.

Nils
Level: 20 EXP: --

STR: 1
SKL: 1
SPD: 28

DEF: 10
RES: 16

STR: 10
SKL: 16
SPD: 20 (Max)
Luck: 16
DEF: 13
RES: 5
Weapon Rank(s): Swords - B
Support(s): [None]

Uhai made the fatal mistake of thinking attacking Raven was a good idea. Hand Axe crit on the counter defeats him.

Raven levels. HP, SKL, SPD (Maxed).
Elixir on Raven.
Lyn talks to Hector. Fun Fact: I think this conversation is only possible if Lyn talks with Eliwood first, possibly requiring Eliwood to talk to Hector also. Also may require Lyn/Hector A Support.
Guy levels. SPD, Luck, RES.
Fiora defeats Kenneth with the Brave Lance.
Raven criticals and defeats Brendan Reed.
Hector levels. HP, Luck.
Lyn defeats Ursula with the Reinfleche.
Hector defeats Darin.

Only Nergal remains.

Nergal has 77 HP? Huh.

I decide to give Nergal to Hector after Nino drops him to 3 HP.

Remember when I made those predictions at the beginning? Time to see how off they were!

MVP: Fiora

Fiora was a good unit, but MVP? Not really.

...I'm going to go with Lyn, but really it's a tough call.
Early on it was easily Hector. Raven was probably MVP during the middle, and for Endgame it was more or less between Nino and Lyn.

Anti-MVP: Eliwood

Well, this was always a lock.

Hardest Map: Battle Before Dawn

Nope!

Genesis was by far the hardest.

Final Tactician Ranking: C Rank

I was right here though.
...I AM INSPIRED.

HECTOR HARD MODE LET'S DO THIS
...LYN HARD MODE LET'S DO THIS

>gets Lyn killed in like chapter 5
>had to reset because a thief got away with a treasure in 7x

oh god. this was SUCH a bad idea. i am so terrible at this game.

okay, out of Lyn mode now.

-Characters used were: Lyn, Sain, Kent, Matthew, Florina, Wil (a little, just to make things easier on myself), Nils, and Serra. I think that's everyone.

-Notably, Matthew became one of my main attackers. I got him up to like... level 10, with 8 ATK and 7 DEF. It was pretty great.

-Lyn got the Angelic Robe, Matthew got the Energy Ring (Thief with 10 ATK at level 10, motherfuckers! what up).

-Got Nils to level 8 or so.

Okay Hector Hard Mode tiiiime

>forgets to make a separate save so I don't have to play Lyn Mode again

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF-

Chapter 11

oh god. i am so terrible at this game.

okay, that's better. spamming handaxes from behind pillars while matthew steals vulneraries. best strategy.

Chapter 12

And no, I'm not keeping track of level ups. Fuck that. Never doing that again. I'm also not recruiting Karla or Farina and I'm probably going to sacrifice treasure to make my life easier if need be.

oh god, eliwood's group is being routed despite being like 3x the size of Hector's group.

>eliwood can't even fight a single pegknight to a draw

classic eliwoodwood. ...wait.

Okay, crisis averted. Matthew broke off from Hector's group and solo'd Eliwood's side of the map. LORD MATTHEW LIVES!!

Ha. I managed to get an Iron Axe from Bartre - by the village - all the way to Hector - at the very top of the map - in one turn. Hector then used it to kill a guy. It was great. Almost makes up for the fact that I burned through like 20 uses of the Wolf Beil. Oh well.

...

FUCKING PEGASUS KNIGHT GET BACK HERE

OH FUCK YOU

I NEED TO KILL YOU TO END THE MAP GET YOUR ASS BACK HERE AND ATTACK ME SUICIDALLY

GODDAMN IT

THIS IS JUST HOW I WANTED TO SPEND MY DAY, CHASING AROUND A HALF-DEAD PEGASUS KNIGHT

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF-

FINALLY. Thank you, Eliwood.

Okay, might as well talk about my plan for my team. Basically, it's gonna be:
The lords
A healer (probably what's her face. Priscilla. at this point. Serra has like 3 Magic at level 8 or some such. so terrible.)
Matthew
Oswin
Kent
Sain
Raven
Geitz
Florina, stats permitting (she's doing pretty well so far, though)
Harken?
Maybe Guy and/or Canas?

Yeah, that puts me seriously deficient in magic users. Don't care. I'll use Pent if I have to. I'm not using Erk and Lucius is uselius. (That pun works much better if you pronounce Lucius "loo-shus", AKA the correct way, and not loo-see-us or whatever.)

Chapter 13

.......god.

well, the good news is, LORD MATTHEW is capable of soloing this map if need be. The bad news is, apparently not without sacrificing a village and getting Rebecca killed. And here I thought she wouldn't get killed by two random archers! Ahahahaha imagine that.

Well then. I think I need to devise a new strategy and return to this map at a later date.

I make no guarantees whatsoever that I finish this, or finish it in an acceptable, non-casual manner. I started it on a whim and I'll most likely stop it on a whim too.

Chapter 13

Okay, so... that... could have gone better. But it also could have gone worse.

Basically, I needed to rush Marcus to the village before it gets destroyed, but he can't be armed. If he's armed, he either kills too many enemies and thus gets attacked too many times and dies, or fights Guy and one of them dies, or steals too much EXP and I fail subsequent chapters even more than I'm already going to. Oswin and Bartre handled the other village like pros, while I used Hector and Lord Matthew to help Marcus.

I can't help but feel like these chapters would be easier if I had more than, like, four units that I'm willing to use. Hector, Oswin, Matthew, and Eliwood. That's what I've got to work with, here. But oh well, it'll be over soon enough.

Oddly enough, the attempt that eventually succeeded was the one that started out really badly, with Oswin missing a killing blow on a PegKnight, which then terrorized my cluster of not-being-used units. Eventually I got it under control, though. Marcus got the village and got... a Mine. Thanks. Thanks for that. I'm so glad I went through all this trouble now. Because it may have cost me my sanity, but now I've got a Mine, easily the best item in the game.

After that, I began the long process of wearing down the enemies reinforcements with Hector/Matthew. Eventually, I recruited Guy, made him go away, and whittled the enemies down to just archers, at which point I set Eliwood loose on them. (This chapter possibly would have gone better if Eliwood wasn't still level 1 at the start of it. <_<)

It's also around this point that Oswin comes extremely close to dying. As in, one more attack and he would have died. God I got so lucky there. I know what you're thinking, and yeah, I thought Oswin was completely invincible too! Go figure.

...I go to buy items, and then realize I have no money. What the fuck happened to that Red Gem? Did I seriously forget to loot it? I could have sworn a thief had it and I killed the thief. Goddammit. This doesn't piss me off, but it DOES sink me into a terrible, terrible depression. I end up selling Marcus' Silver Lance to buy a Heal Staff, because fuck if I'm getting through 13x without one. Plus Silver Weapons kinda suck, though I'll bet dollars to doughnuts this playthrough changes my mind on that!

...oh, god, 13x. I really don't want to do that. Oh well. First thing's first: killing this boss. And what the hell, I decide to boss abuse it for a while while I build up supports.

Probably going to go with:

Lyn/Eliwood*
Hector/Florina*
Matthew/Guy
Serra/Oswin
Sain/Kent

...And I don't know the rest. * denotes a pairing that is disgusting but which I'm probably going to do anyway.

Anyway, I get Serra/Oswin C and Matthew/Guy C while Serra and Oswin gain a few levels. time for the next chapter.

Chapter 13x - The Pitiful Merlinus

Okay, so here's my plan. Marcus needs to get moving turn one, which means taking out the guy blocking the NE bridge. I did this with Lowen and Hector. Marcus takes a Vulnerary and an Iron Lance and departs. Eliwood holds the other northern bridge. Guy and Matthew get a B support and hold the south, while Bartre holds the west while waiting for Oswin to get over there.

Oswin takes control of the south next turn while Bartre takes potshots at whoever he can. Hector and Eliwood continue to hold the northern bridges. Marcus moves and heals with a vulnerary. Guy and Matthew continue being pros.

Oswin eventually breaks the west enough for me to trust Eliwood to handle it solo. Oswin takes Eliwood's NW position to defend against a bunch of nomads. Hector is still being a pro. Marcus is having trouble, so I send Guy and Matthew his way.

Guy, Matthew, and Marcus destroy everything in their path. Marcus gets the village. Hector is still being a pro, taking out nomads and archers with his Handaxe. Eliwood is being oddly competent after singlehandedly ruining my previous attempt (KENRI: eliwood you can survive three attacks, you'll be fine. ELIWOOD: Says you! *crits enemy and thus gets attacked four times* KENRI: FFFFFFFFFFFFF-).

Finally, the chapter ends. Really, the only tough part of that chapter was that I couldn't rearrange my units' starting positions. Once I got them in place, and barring any massive Eliwoods screw ups, I could have held the island indefinitely. ...Or until my Heal Staff broke, but still.

...Serra, by the way, apparently heard that I was going to use Priscilla instead, and decided to stop fucking around. She's got like 8 Magic now at level 12. That's above average.

Chapter 14 - False Fiends

Oh, come on! Starting enemies behind my group? That is a DICK move, Fire Emblem!

...god, this chapter would be so easy if I still had Kent+Sain/Lyn/Florina. In that order of importance. Oh well. I'll figure this out later.

Chapter 8x

We're going after a Divine Weapon hidden in a temple in a volcano. Sound familiar? It's because the same thing happened in FE7. The "Claim a space" chapter. <_<

I only get ten units, but that's fine. Fuck you Lugh, I gave you as many chances as I possibly could. Lilina is less than half your level and has better stats than you do, and Clarine is going to promote in 4 levels. Go die in a fire. Except, you know. Not the fire tiles in this level, because I'm not bringing you.

Lilina and Roy converse about how this cave holds Durandal, the Blazing Sword (which does not blaze). It's currently been taken over by bandits, however.

Lilina: I need to protect Ostia, like my father before me.

Why do characters in the games I play keep stealing lines from Star Wars?

Thany levels. Str, Skl, Spd, Luk. Thany, by the way, is absolutely amazing. 24 HP, 7 Str, 14 Skl, 18 Spd, 13 Luk, 9 Def, 7 Res. Basically, nothing can hit her. And the things that can hit her can't damage her.

Lilina levels. Magic, Spd, Res.
Lilina levels again. Magic, Luk.
Roy levels. HP, Luk. Terrible.
Lilina levels. Magic, Spd, Luk, Res.
Lot levels. Def, Res. I'll actually take that because both his Def and Res are pretty awful.
Chad levels. HP, Str, Spd, Luk. I still can't believe Chad is one of my strongest offensive characters.
Clarine levels. HP, Spd.
Wolt levels. HP, Spd, Def.
Lilina levels. HP, Magic, Luk.

Geez, generic enemies with Killing Edges, Armorslayers, Halberds... I don't use any armor knights and I left my social knights behind, but that Killing Edge scares the fuck out of me. 11 damage, 30% chance of crit? That guy is terrifying.

Lilina levels. Skl, Spd. Awful.
Clarine levels. Spd.
Lilina levels. HP, Magic, Skl, Luk, Res.

Only Lilina is really suited to fighting the boss, yet again, because she's my magic user. Bosses in this game seem to always come to down to either "throw Rutger at them with a Killing Edge" or "have a magic user fight them using the rescue and release strategy".

Lilina levels. Magic, Luk.

...I could end the chapter now, but oh no. I've got a healer at level 18, a Guiding Ring, and a completely risk free way of getting her to 20. Let's do this.

Clarine levels. HP, Spd.
Clarine hits level 20. HP, Luk. Terrible. I hate you, Clarine. wtf happened.

STATS AT LEVEL 20:

28 HP (average: 22.6)
9 Magic (average: 7.7)
9 Skill (average: 12.6)
20 Speed (MAX) (average: 18.5)
17 Luck (average: 20.35)
2 Defense (average: 3.9)
12 Res (average: 12.6)

So basically, her most important stats - Magic and Speed - I got better than average results on. I have no idea what happened in Skill, but it's sorta made up for with her getting 5-6 more HP than average. Slightly low Def/Res, but not notably low, and who cares about luck. All in all, Clarine is a credit to the team, only slightly held back by the fact that she's got an S in staves. (Yes, I know, characters stop at A until they promote, but apparently they continue to accumulate EXP. When I promote her next chapter, she'll have an S in staves automatically. It sucks, but what can ya do?)

Roy: So this is the Durandal... It's a very large sword. I don't think many of us are going to be able to swing it.

Including your loser of a father.

Not that I'm bitter or anything.

Lilina then says that the sword's weight and size are meaningless. Your skill with a sword determines how well you can wield it.

................

God fucking dammit, Eliwood.

Merlinus then informs Roy that the Dragon Knights have been spotted at Ostia Castle, so Roy just... runs back, I guess? Not the most graceful placement of a gaiden chapter I've ever seen. Ah well. Roy immediately lets himself get surrounded by Narshen and his platoon.

Choose one:

Version A!

Narshen: You will surrender Ostia to me.
Roy: Never. I will stop you.
Narshen: Oh yeah? You and what army?
Roy: That one. *points to the Etrurian army*

Or Version B!

Narshen: You will surrender Ostia to me.
Roy: Wrong. The Beacons of Castle Ostia! The Beacons are lit! Lycia calls for aid!
[beat]
Percival: And Etruria will answer! Muster the spellcasters!

God, it's so awesome. I knew this was coming, but it's still just so awesome. Especially when Cecilia, a completely unassuming woman, just strolls up to Narshen and basically says, "do you really wanna do this?" He considers it, until his subordinate says that against Percival and Cecilia, they'll be slaughtered. Narshen runs off.

Oh wow. Roy thanks Percival for his help, but he says to direct all thanks to Cecilia, who went against the king of Etruria's orders in order to help Roy. Percival leaves to return to Etruria, and Cecilia explains to Roy that, essentially, they knew Bern needed to have its ass kicked, but didn't have an excuse to declare war. Until Roy requested aid. So this is just the most convenient option for Etruria.

Or, in other words:

1. Cecilia

Chapter 14 - False Fiends

Okay, so I do not have enough equipment for this chapter. Not enough weapons. Not nearly. At first I thought I was going to have restart the entire run, but it turns out it is possible, I just needed to rethink my strategy and also play really well.

Okay, so, Hector is down to one Handaxe, one Iron Axe, and the Wolf Beil. The other Iron Axe goes to Bartre, who will be joining us to guard Merlinus. The other Handaxe goes to Marcus. Marcus also gets Lowen/Oswin's Javelin; Lowen will not be joining us (though I really should've deployed him for Merlinus duty; ah well). Eliwood's Iron Sword goes to Matthew, so he's stuck with just his Rapier.

Hector is going to solo the enemies in the starting area and the Peg Knight reinforcements (well, solo, but with Bartre's help; Bartre doesn't count). Yeah, I'm sticking Hector on Merlinus duty. What up.

Meanwhile, Eliwood, Guy, Matthew, and Serra will be rendezvousing with Special Agent X (aka Erk) and then launching a direct attack on the enemy forces. Yeah, I'm attacking the enemy with an unleveled mage, a thief, a barely leveled myrmidon, a healer, and Eliwood. WHAT UP. Actually, during a previous attempt, Eliwod + Serra solo'd these guys, so it's not THAT crazy.

Meanwhile, Marcus will be making a beeline for the lower village, while Oswin trails him to prevent him getting surrounded by enemies and boxed in.

AGENTS, REPORT!

Matthew: This is Agent M. We've made contact with Special Agent X. Clean up is in progress. We're cycling myself, Agent G, and Agent E through the house and forest, allowing two of us to break the enemies while a third is healed.
Eliwood: This is Eliwood. Erik is down. Repeat, Erik is down.
Marcus: Agent Marcus, reporting. I'm at the village, awaiting further instructions. I've also made the requested purchase of, and I quote, "a fuckload of everything".
Oswin: This is Oswin. The enemy has been routed on my end. Over.

Sounds good. Merlinus, how's it on your end?

Merlinus: This is Merlinus. The goods have been received. Under attack by PegKnights. Please advise.
Bartre: This is Bartre. I've been shot.
Hector: Hey, get some damn reinforcements over here or we're gonna be in a real bad place real soon!

C'mon guys, it'll be fine. The only PegKnight in range is on the other side of a short ledge. It'll never make it ov-

Oh right.

Pegasi can fly, can't they.

Merlinus, how you holding up?

Merlinus: I have picked up my tent and moved it out of the way while the enemy was in the process of attacking!

Wonderful. I'm sending Erk that way to assist.

Priscilla: This is Priscilla. I'm not as good as Clarine. Please advise.

Don't worry, you're not being used. Just try to avoid getting hit.

Whew. That was hairy. But hey, now I have actual ITEMS. I bought like... fuckin' six swords, a lance, two axes, and a staff. Or some such. Agents! How you doin'.

Eliwood: Never call us again.
Hector: Dick.

I am the best at this game.

Chapter 15 - Tallon Overworld

Egads. Space Pirates. And we're not even in space.

All right, the plan is to draw Ridley to us and then hit him hard with the Wavebuster, while Kreatz goes and pilfers the treasure. It has... not been going well so far. I'm sure I'll get it eventually, though.

Chapter 15 - Tallon Overworld

Augh. That went so well until Rundas died. I had to split up Mauk and Kreatz; Kreatz handled the enemies and chests like a pro, despite nearly dying, while Mauk one-shotted Ridley. Anthony Higgs solo'd most of the southern forces without a problem. Admiral Dane and Armstrong Houston handled most of the boss' entourage, despite Armstrong nearly dying as well. Adam Malkovich did crazy multi-tasking, and Ghor... Ghor did his best to hold off the enemies on the left, despite ALSO nearly dying and needing to be rescued by Adam. Thankfully, had Gandrayda nearby to heal him.

But yeah, Rundas died, and even though I don't plan on using him, I decided to reset anyway. The good news - if you can call it that - is that the items in the chests are just a Silver Axe and a Mend staff. I have absolutely no reason to care about either those, so if I can't get them in the next few tries... oh well. I'll just focus on the boss.

200 shrines to anyone who can guess who every single character is, by the way. Actually, I'll just make it 10 shrines for every one you get right, and another 100 if you get them all correct. That's more fun.

Rundas - ???
Mauk - ???
Kreatz - ???
Anthony Higgs - ???
Admiral Dane - ???
Armstrong Houston - ???
Adam Malkovich - ???
Ghor - ???
Gandrayda - ???
Ridley - ???

Okay, another attempt, this time swapping Bartre for Lowen for WTA and ditching the stupid Metroid references.

...woooooooooooooooooooow

Had an attempt, everything went perfectly mostly. Until I tried to fight the boss. Eliwood doubled the boss with his Rapier, 92% hit, okay, time to kill this guy.

Hit.
MISS.

CLASSIC ELIWOODWOOD.

Okay, it's not a problem. Guy can handle this with his Killing Edge. Sure, he'll be a bit at risk, but he'll probably be fine. 82% hit, 37% crit.

Hit, no crit.
MISS.

CLASSIC GUYWOOD.

Okay, still not a problem. I've got Erk. He'll need to be healed to survive the other enemies, but he should be okay. 72% hit.

MISS.
Sealen retaliates, hits, kills.

CLASSIC ERKWOOD. I fucking hate you guys so much.

Okay, many, many, many, MANY resets later (thankfully each one only took like 2 minutes, so it didn't actually take me very long), I managed to pull off a victory. At the cost of some very mediocre levels. I really should have kept an early attempt where Erk died, the levels I got there were insane (like, six stats every level, for everyone except Guywood). But yeah. Killed the boss, got all the treasure. Funniest/most terrifying part of the whole thing? Turn 6, a bandit ignored Matthew and tried to sneak over to Hammer away at Oswin. Would have killed him, too, but I saw through his clever plan and made Hector kill him. Thinking that was the entire enemy plan, I went back to what I was doing with Hector and Oswin, and decided not to have Lowen eat a vulnerary because I knew he could survive another arrow from the nomad he was keeping occupied.

Then the other bandit that had accompanied the Hammer Bandit ran north and threw a Handaxe at Lowen. Who was at 3 HP.

My thought process: "...Where the hell is he go- oh shit oh shit OH SHIT"

Thankfully, Lowen dodged, and I killed his ass with Hector and Erk.

So basically, all it took to beat that chapter is a satisfactory way was:

1. A clever plan
2. Flawless implementation of said plan
3. Knowledge of enemy AI, gained from many retries
4. Abuse of said enemy AI
5. Exploiting an AI oddity so as to prevent the enemy from breaking the western wall
6. Exploiting the enemy AI so as to draw the boss turn 1
7. An incredibly overleveled thief
8. A lot of luck

...

I don't see what xp was complaining about. *shrugs*
