Wheee Dark story.

Cleared the first however many missions with no trouble, then I hit Security Hall.

Oh dear god, Security Hall.

The level would be annoying enough normally, but then there's a 5 minute timer on it.

DAMN YOU SECURITY HALL YOU ARE THE WORST LEVEL EVER

and not just in sa2

Huh.

Somehow in my hatred for Security Hall, I had forgotten about Mad Space.

So yeah.

I'm gonna go kill Sonic Team.

On the bright side, it made me appreciate Super Mario Galaxy even more.

That's a far better game, I should play that instead.

(I did beat it, but only after about 30 minutes of searching randomly while fighting horrible controls/camera and even then, only after a reset to make the emeralds spawn in better places.)

Okay, so I finished up Rouge's fight vs. Knux, which was significantly harder than Knux's fight vs. Rouge. Huh.

Shadow's Final Chase is an awful stage. The only thing it has on Final Rush is that it's about half as long, otherwise it would be much worse.

Eggman vs. Tails 2 is pretty much the second hardest boss in the game. Tails likes to spam the huge laser attack almost immediately, and unlike in Tails vs. Eggman, he actually aims it at you and takes off like half your health bar. I lost several times before figuring out that Tails is extremely weak to being punched in the face.

(Eggman's melee attack is top tier.)

Sonic fight was, again, significantly harder than the Shadow fight. What's up with that?

Cannon's Core tiem. I got all the way to Knux's part before I realized I didn't have the item that lets Knux breathe underwater. -_- Oh well. What began as a quest to just get that ended up becoming a quest to get every upgrade for every character, except for Sonic's Mystic Melody, because that's in Final Rush and LIKE HELL I'm going back there so soon.

With Knux's upgrade, Cannon's Core is easy, so I beat that.

And then beat Biolizard. In one try. WTF. Normally he kills me like a million times. How the hell...

Anyway. Finalhazard goes down easily because it's meant to be awesome, not difficult. So the exact opposite of Biolizard.

[Spoiler for SA2, click to show]It still kinda bugs me why people believed Shadow was dead. Okay, yeah, he doesn't return to the ARK and Sonic says he died, but he CLEARLY used Chaos Control.

"But that was him burning up as he entered the Earth's atmos-"

NO IT ****ING WASN'T. It was the same exact flash of light as every time anyone used Chaos Control ever. There was a Chaos Control like five seconds prior, IN THE SAME CUTSCENE, that looked exactly the same! I don't know how you CAN possibly think otherwise.

On the other hand, it would have (arguably) been for the better if Shadow stayed dead. So maybe it was wishful thinking?

The quest to get all 180 emblems HAS BEGUN

I shall do it or go insane trying

EMBLEM COUNTER: 48 i think

Notable exploits:

-A-ranked all five stages for Dry Lagoon and Wild Canyon. Now, I'm fairly certain those were 10 of the easiest stages in the game to A-rank, but still.

-Metal Harbor Mission 2 was stupidly hard to A-rank. Going through the stage normally gets you 99 rings and about 30 seconds to do 50 seconds of level before the next rings. Yeah. Eventually I went to GameFAQs and found out that there's a single hidden ring that brings you up to 100. After that, I A-ranked the mission with like 15 seconds to spare.

-I can't finish any of Sonic's missions because I need the Mystic Melody, and I don't want to get the Mystic Melody because it's in Final Rush, and I hate Final Rush. =( it is a conundrum

Random unrelated observation:

I find it rather amusing that Shadow goes from "being of pure evil created to destroy mankind" in SA2 to [Spoiler for Sonic 2006, click to show]some sort of self-sacrificing super-saint that's willing fight side by side with a friend he's been told by a being from the future will eventually kill him, all in order to defend humanity, who he's been told, again, by a being from the future, will eventually turn on him. Granted that future being is Mephiles, so it's possible he was just attempting to mess with Shadow, but then again, Shadow isn't there in the future, so...
</spoiler>

It makes (some) sense if you put a lot of faith in his promise to Maria, but it's still quite a change.

I really need to start checking how many emblems I have before turning off my game.

Mostly Green Forest, Pumpkin Hill, and Iron Gate. Nothing much of note, except that pretty soon I'll have to get Sonic's Mystic Melody and augh I don't want to.

It's sorta annoying that they even bothered to make mission 3s timed missions, since you pretty much need to finish in that amount of time ANYWAY to get an A-rank on mission 1. So you really just have to do the same mission twice.

there is at least a 45% chance that is correct

The lack of emblems belies the amount of progress I made. I A-ranked several missions that I hadn't A-ranked before, which doesn't get me any emblems YET but will eventually. And I did the Hero Story Boss Rush, which was easy. I dread the Dark Story Boss Rush, though. Eggman usually kills me several times. And if the ALL Boss Rush includes Biolizard I am so very screwed.

I also played with a Chao for a while. One advantage my other file has on my new one is that it has several Chao emblems and a few Chao that could conceivably get the other emblems without much additional work. But hey, I'm doing this from start to finish, might as well spend a million hours raising Chao from scratch too.

On the other hand, I didn't die to Biolizard at all this playthrough, while I died to Berserk Egg Golem and Tails II several times... So yeah. Maybe I'm screwed for other, related yet distinct reasons.

You know what that means?

It means I'm over 1/3 of the way done!

Except that I'll need to replay a lot of these levels for A-ranks later, so uh, not really.

BUT SUPERFICIALLY, I AM OVER 1/3 OF THE WAY DONE

Most of my progress here was Weapons Bed and Prison Lane. The problem with Tails/Eggman is that their normal ranged attack is completely useless. You can home in on enemies, okay that works. You can melee attack bosses, that works. Normal ranged attack? Can't hit the side of a barn. If you're standing next to the barn. Facing it. I tried this on metal crates and they didn't get destroyed, so this is not hyperbole. It's just absolutely useless.

UNFORTUNATELY you need to use it to destroy the aforementioned crates. And during the timed missions, you need to do that QUICKLY. Which, as I have come to realize, is only SLIGHTLY easier than learning how to breathe out of your elbows.

The other problem with the Tails/Eggman sections, and actually everyone's sections, but it's especially bad for Tails/Eggman and Sonic/Shadow (albeit for different reasons), is that the game wants you to go fast. It wouldn't time you if it didn't. And the players want to go fast, too. But if you DO go fast, the game drops robots on you while you're trying to jump, and then you fall into a bottomless pit/water hazard/SAAAAAAAAND and die and have to restart the level because it kills your score. The game would be so much better if they didn't drop these pointless enemies on you. And it's especially bad for Tails/Eggman, because Sonic/Shadow can sometimes see that the enemy is coming and jump, since jumping is an attack that will kill them. Twitch reflexes come in handy there. Not to mention that the Tails/Eggman sections throw in swooping enemies. They're like the other enemies, only they swoop in out of nowhere, throw shots at you, and then disappear. So you can't kill them, or dodge (because you're slower than the shots). You need to memorize where they are and then avoid them. There is even LESS of a point to including these enemies because you can't even kill them for points! What purpose do they serve besides making you slow down in a game that WANTS YOU TO GO FAST?

I dunno, it seems to work against the spirit of the game somehow.

There's a name for this type of enemy, by the way:

I should have spent this weekend doing school work. Instead I spent it playing SA2. Somehow, and stupidly, that continued into today. Live and learn, I guess. Or not, since this has happened to me before...

EMBLEM COUNTER: 70

-Finished off Iron Gate, except I think I still need to A-rank a few missions, so not really.

-Likewise for Meteor Herd. Hard mode is a BITCH. The second emerald is just a complete pain in the ass. You need to use a spring on top of the main building to reach a platform, then walk out onto the very, very narrow ledge of that platform, turn on your sunglasses, walk into the spring that appears, manipulate your fall to hit another spring (because if you jump, you remove your sunglasses and the spring vanishes), use THAT spring to boost you up to the level of the emerald, which you must then glide into. Of course, if you MISS the emerald, by being too high/too low/camera screwed/etc, the springs are gone now (since gliding counts as jumping), and you must do the whole thing over again. This took me like 8 minutes to get right. I have no idea how I'm going to A-rank this.

-Went back to Final Rush and got Sonic's Mystic Melody. I took a different path this time and was like "whoa, this is actually not bad", because I think the new path cut like 5 minutes off my total time. Then I finished that path, got back on the main path, and started dying stupidly again. The stage still has the problem of being WAY TOO ****ING LONG.

Sonic Team? Small tip for you. This one's on the house. No, really, I insist. MAKE YOUR LEVELS ****ING SMALLER. If each level was 2-3 minutes long and there were like 120 of them, everyone would be so much happier. This can be easily accomplished, too. Every third checkpoint you'd put in a level? Just start a whole new level there. It would be seamless.

-With Sonic's Mystic Melody, went back to City Escape and did a few missions. I have no idea how you're supposed to beat that stage in 3 minutes. It seems kind of contradictory that one shortcut involves doing a trick off a ramp (and thereby getting a Magnetic Shield) and then a couple later ones involve Light Dashing (which is almost impossible to do with a Magnetic Shield). I dunno. Maybe I just suck.

Not a good day for playing Sonic. I'm sorta frustrated (English class, was supposed to write a 5 page essay, only got about 2.7 pages done) and that makes my performance suffer and then I get MORE frustrated and like Pac-Man, it is a vicious circle.

I didn't realize until now (though I had had the theory for a while) that state of mind really helps with this type of games. It sorta explains why I started sucking at video games right around when I was depressed but not on anti-depressants yet (and also I was sick for like two years and it was beginning to annoy me; don't ask). While in a "good" state of mind, as I was before, the whole game seemed a whole lot easier, and even the crappy deaths from camera screw/control screw/random shit/drop-in robots were amusing at best and only annoying, never frustrating, at worst. In a "bad" state of mind, it's back to being impossibly hard and annoying and headache-inducing and it makes me angry.

tl;dr: I'm not playing more until I'm in a better mood.

This is really starting to sound like a blog now (the distinction blurs a bit more with every post) so RANDOM VIDEO OF GUY WHOSE GREATNESS MAKES ME ASHAMED TO BE ALIVE

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ac_B0smtRM

A-ranked a few missions I had previously not A-ranked, and did a few of Sonic's levels now that I have the Mystic Melody. Mission 3 (Find the lost Chao) and Mission 4 (Time attack) for both Metal Harbor and Green Forest are completed. Metal Harbor is impossible to A-rank unless you have mad skillz (see attached video). Hell, I can't even get past an E-rank.

Guess I'll just have to practice practice practice.

Small amount of progress before bed... Feeling more mellow now so I was able to actually accomplish things that were giving me trouble before.

I apologize for the above post and recommend you don't read it, or just skip to the video and read what's after that. -_-

ANYWAY

-Sky Rail mission 2 and 3. Mission 2 was pissing me off before, but it was actually incredibly easy so I don't know what was giving me problems. Camera screw and enemies getting lucky shots on me, I guess, but it didn't really happen this time. So I beat the 100 Rings mission and then moved on and found the lost Chao rather easily.

-City Escape mission 4 is actually really, really hard. It's not anywhere near impossible, certainly, but there's just very little you can do to cut down on time other than hitting all the jumps flawlessly. So you need to do that, and it's difficult, and you ALSO need to hit the light dashes flawlessly, which is a pain because the light dash mechanic in this game is beyond shoddy. If you collect a ring, there's a brief interval where your light dash doesn't recognize there are rings in front of you still, so if you jump into a suspended line of rings, say, over a pit, you're really just hoping your timing is good enough that you're not screwed over, which seems to be thoroughly random and uncontrollable. It is complicated by a Magnetic Shield, as you can imagine.

Sadly I got a B-rank on this mission so I'll have to do it again. Luckily I like City Escape so that's okay with me. When I get to Mad Space I'll probably have to lock myself in my room for fear of killing someone in a fit of rage.

Or the racing missions. Dear god, the racing missions...

I tried Death Chamber for a while, but I'm not ready to tackle that yet. Sonic/Shadow stages are preferable because they're more straight forward, albeit their hard modes are the epitome of jackassery while Knux/Rouge's hard modes are, GENERALLY, easy mode since all the gemeralds have fixed locations.

Not much to say here. Beat City Escape's hard mode after trying (and failing) several times to A-rank the first mission. E-ranked hard mode, but only because I died near the end. <_<; If I hadn't, B or A rank easily. Seems like hard mode is easier to A-rank than normal mode or time attack, unless you die of course. Ah well.

The other two emblems were from Tails' and Rouge's racing missions, specifically the collect 100 rings parts. Easy A-ranks. Except that the controls are completely impossible. The fundamental problem with these segments, and with Sonic's skateboarding segments, is that the controls are not great for the regular game. They are "usually decent" and "sometimes shoddy". When you throw a genre change into the mix, controls usually suffer. "Usually decent" does not like to suffer.

Compare to, let's say, Super Mario Galaxy. The controls there are not perfect, but they're "pretty good". And during the sudden genre changes, it becomes "usually decent". And I think, okay, that's fair. Here... it's just annoying, and it seems unfair that they expect me to put up with it.

Much, much better game. SMG, that is. And I love SA2, but wow, I think I took SMG for granted.

Mostly Eggman's stages: Sand Ocean, Weapons Bed, Lost Colony, Iron Gate. Some of those were completed already so I was going back for A-ranks. Hence, more progress than the emblem counter indicates.

Weapons Bed hard mode is essentially the exact way to NOT design a level. First year game designers should be forced to play through this and then learn to do the exact opposite of everything it does.

Remember those enemies that fall out of nowhere or swoop in and fuck you up? You pretty much have to stop every 3 seconds and deal with about 4 or 5 of those. It sounds like I'm exaggerating, and I probably am, but not nearly to the extent it would seem. What's worse, these enemies hardly ever attack together, so you can kill them all at once for BIG POINTS, you have to kill one, inch closer, trigger the next enemy, run the fuck away from its IMMEDIATE attacks, counterattack, repeat. For pretty much the entire level.

As if that wasn't enough, every part of the level WITHOUT these enemies is full of a bunch of spinning spiked balls of death. Which wouldn't be bad, but the camera is more uncooperative than... I'd say ever, but some levels are far worse. But it is very, very bad. Doesn't show the hazards? Okay, I can deal with that. When enemies spawn OFF CAMERA and start shooting at me WHILE I'm trying to avoid hazards I cannot see, THEN I have a problem.

OKAY so all that wouldn't really be too bad, honestly, but there are other problems. Enemies spawn in the middle of long jumps and shoot at you. You can't dodge - well, you can, but you lose enough momentum while dodging that you won't be able to make the jump - so you have to remember where these are and tiptoe to the ledge to make them spawn, without falling off and killing yourself, and without having them shoot you, which will probably make you fall off and die. Nearly the entire level is spent on narrow platforms with insta-death on all shoots. You're knocked backwards when hit. Sometimes the guard rail will save you, but sometimes there isn't a guard rail, or the game will decide that, hey, fuck it, the guard rail isn't actually a tangible presence. Sometimes you'll be knocked forward into another platform, slightly higher than the one you're on, and instead of hitting it and stopping, you'll fall UNDER IT, an impossibility since you're in a large, 5 foot tall METAL ROBOT and the space between the two platforms is about 2 feet at best. Did I mention that these robots spawn OFF SCREEN and you have no indication they're there or that you're in danger until they shoot you and the game decides to kill you? YEAH. IT IS A PROBLEM.

Oh? You say, "I'll just memorize where and when the ones that spawn off screen spawn, and shoot them immediately before they can fuck me up."

There's something hilarious about that. You think you can just spin around, lock on to the enemy, shoot them, and move on? YOU ARE WRONG. Because there is a roughly 100% chance that instead of locking on to the enemy, the game will decide to completely IGNORE the enemy and lock on to his SHOTS instead. Which could be useful, if it locked on to the shots IN ADDITION to the enemy. That would be great, and you certainly have the ability to lock on to multiple targets at once. But it doesn't happen. Apparently the enemies are made of guardrailium and aren't actually tangible.

Oh well.

Time to redo the whole level even though I was ten seconds from the goal with enough score to have an A-rank when an off-screen enemy knocked me through a platform and into the insta-death water, resetting my score.

I was in the mood for Kirby, so I played Kirby Superstar (stupid KSSU tempting me to play you but my cheapness preventing me from actually doing it) and Kirby's Dream Land 2.

In Superstar, I beat the Gourmet Race and the Arena for the first time, thus completing all the games. I tried to go back and 100% The Great Cave Offensive, but it's just designed so poorly. Augh. Only a few treasures left, and they're the ones you either need a second player or mad skillz for.

Never played KDL2 before now, so it was pretty cool. Reminded me a lot of KDL. Nostalgia rushes are awesome. It's also annoyingly hard. Like, the final boss killed me over 10 times, and some of the Rainbow Pieces required dozens of tries to get. Kirby games are not supposed to be that hard. It felt... foreign.

At the end, though, I got to fight a [Spoiler for KDL2, click to show]shinigami in space, so it's all good. It also MUST BE SEEN TO BE BELIEVED

HEY GUYS

GUESS WHAT I BEAT

IT WASN'T SA2B OR EARTHBOUND

It was, in fact, Metroid II, a game that was not even on any of my "games waiting to be played" lists. Oh that wacky Kenri.

Pretty fun. Much better than I thought it would be. Not sure where I'd put it on my full Metroid ranking - it definitely isn't up there with Super Metroid, Prime 3, or Zero Mission, but it probably ranks around Prime and Fusion.

I didn't do writeups because they would have mostly been stuff like "I find a Metroid and kill it. Then I find another Metroid and kill it too. This triggers an earthquake, so I descend to the next level of SR388 and find a Metroid there. I kill it."

And by "mostly" I mean "entirely".

Also

43 minutes away from the best ending is the most satisfying second-best ending of all.

Not that I'm bitter or anything.

Yay Xbox 360

Yay Tales of Vesperia

Totally playing this now.

[Spoiler for ToV, click to show]-The anime cutscenes look amazing.

-Pipe-smoking dog **** yeah you are the best character ever

-I forgot the main character's name was Yuri. Ha. Awesome. <_<

-I suck at this game. >_>

-In a jail now. Fantastic.

-I suck at this game. >_>

In the beginning of the game this is normal.

Yuri lags too much in combat which basically guarantees you're going to get hit even after a combo.

I'm not actually sure if this gets better later as your Agility goes up. I can't tell because by then you actually have a team and can put together huge combos (I was playing around once and had Yuri pull off a combo of around ~130 by himself.), so you don't really notice it. But yeah, beginning of the game combat can be very annoying because of all this. It gets better. A lot better.

I figured it would get better. If only because I'll actually learn how to do stuff; I could hardly read the tutorial on my tiny TV. <_<

What I really need, though, are some of Lloyd's moves, I can work with those, this little Hadoken thing is useless as far as I can tell.

You're not really going to get Lloyd's moves, so I wouldn't hold out for that.

That said, I'm quite fond of Azure Edge and especially Cerberus Strike.

Azure Edge actually gets better with more uses, I think up to 400 uses or so it starts going faster and further.

Although, Shining Fang and its related techs are just ridiculous, but those are rather far away, IIRC.

xobox thoughts:

-xobox is huge. I'm pretty sure it could eat my Wii, or at least smash it if it fell on top of it.

-xobox is loud. Sounds like I have a furnace in my room. >_>

[Spoiler for ToV, click to show]-Okay, so, wandered around in the jail, scoring some items and finding a girl who I will later learn is named Estellise.

-I pretty much fought every knight in the whole castle for both in-game experience and out of game experience with the battle system. My new system is to Azure Edge twice while they're running at me, then 3-hit combo them, defend their attack, 3-hit combo them, etc until dead. It worked very well until I started fighting multiple enemies at once.

-Curry restores my health and TP. I made frequent return trips to it because I'm cautious like that.

-Yeah let's just barge into our friend's room in the middle of the night. Good idea, no way that can go wrong.

-Boss fight tiem

Zagi: I'm gonna get you, Flynn.
Yuri: I'm not Flynn.
Zagi: ...I'm gonna get you, Not-Flynn.
*beatdown*
Zagi: You think you've beaten me? Ha! Bankai.
Yuri: FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF-
Estellise: It's okay guys, I'm here to help! First Aid!
Zagi: *deals 100 damage*
Estellise: First Aid!
Zagi: *deals 100 damage*
Estellise: First Aid!
Zagi: *deals 100 damage*
Estellise: First Aid!
Zagi: *deals 100 damage*
Estellise: First Aid!
Zagi: *deals 100 damage*
Estellise: First Aid!
Zagi: ...Screw this.
Yuri: Good effort, team!

-Achievement get! Marvel in fear of my 5 point Gamerscore.

-Looted Flynn's room. >_>

-I love Yuri and Estellise's end of the battle conversations.

"Yeah! I beat you into next week!" "What?! ..........Can you do that?!" "Never mind."
"We beat them!" "You mean I beat them."
"You're a hundred years from beating me!" "Because you're so much older than them?" "...Not exactly."

-Speaking of Yuri and Estellise... wtf is up with the sexual tension. I nearly shot myself in the head during the hand holding scene. Ugh.

-Escaped the castle! Good, because the groups of three knights were pretty much kicking my ass.

-OMG CUTE RAT BLOB THINGS ^________^

-...I forgot to Magic Lens Zagi. Goddamn it. Quickest 100% playthrough ruined ever. Not that I was going to get 100% without a guide, but still.

-Hanks is a pretty awesome character.

-He's not Repede, though. I'm sorely tempted to start maining him, simply because he's a dog that smokes a pipe. Best character ever.

-On the world map now. I fight a few enemies and then save and quit for the night.

If it makes you feel better, you have to scan Zagi twice in that battle, once before Estelle joins the battle, and then again after she joins. I don't know why they wanted to make that two different entries, but they did. I mean, I ended up catching that my first time through, but it still doesn't make any sense. So, even if you had remembered to scan him in that battle, it's quite possible you would have forgotten to scan him the second time.

[Spoiler for ToV, click to show]-Okay, went to some boring Deidon Hold place.

-It's boring.

-LET ME LEEEEEEEAVE

-Hot woman alert. Seriously. I'd become her bodyguard, if you know what I mean. And also I'd like to have sex with her.

-FINALLY leaving. Into the cursed woods I go!

-Estelle gets KO'd by the incredibly dense sexual tension "aer".

-Oh my god why is there a big ass bird thing in the background that I can't get to? I want to kill it!

-Karol is the most annoying character ever. Is he supposed to be a parody of Lloyd? Because that's what it looks like to me. <_<

-Monster book GET!

-Okay, missed Zagi, Zagi 2, Boccos, Adecor, and Knight Fencer. gj kenri

-Have I seen any eggbears? Was that ENOURMOUS BIRD MONSTER an eggbear?

-From the other side of the woods, I backtracked to Deidon Hold to try to fight THE LORD OF THE PLAINS but he wasn't there.

-Halure is a boring city.

-Get a Panacea Bottle? Are you serious? This qualifies as a quest now? -_-

-Okay, back into the Quoi Woods. Eggbear time.

-OH GOD IS THE GIANT BIRD MONSTER COMING NO I AM SCARED

-...

-...That's... that's a goddamn owlbear.

-Required reading material: http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0322.html

-The Panacea Bottle didn't work. SHOCK. Estelle heals the tree. AWE.

-In Aspio now, Karol's still tagging along for some reason.

-I'm getting the feeling that Mordio is going to join my party.

-We can't get through the gate so we pick a lock and enter a... weird... library building?

-Oh my god... It's full of Raines!

-I synthesize some new equipment for my group and get an Achievement somehow.

-We break into Mordio's house and accuse some poor girl of being a thief. gj yuri. I mean, it could be true, except that our criteria is "short and wears a cloak", which is EVERYONE IN ASPIO.

-Rita GET (totally called it... sorta)

-...what the hell did I find in Rita's dresser...?

-Wow Rita sucks in battle. First fight, she casts Fireball twice, in completely the opposite direction of any monsters.

-The outside of these ruins remind me of some area in Skies of Arcadia. <_<

-Sorceror's Ring GET

-It seems like 90% of the time I don't get an attack of opportunity even if I stun enemies with the ring.

-The boss of this place just clobbered me.

-And again.

-I need a way to skip cutscenes.

-...Rita doesn't like to use fireballs, apparently. I had to practically FORCE her to use them when I swapped Repede for her for the boss fight. And won. But not with casualities. My Life Bottle supply was depleted and I only got 4 of the possible 10+ points of grade. Let's try that again.

-Okay, new strategy. *lets team get KO'd so they'll stop wasting my items* *free runs circles around enemy* *AZURE EDGE SPAM* *hits his weakpoint for massive damage*

-17 grade. Good improvement.

-"Is that why we were fighting that thing?" "Of course." "You suck!"

^5 Karol

-Back to Halure... dammit, why are there so many random idiot brigades chasing us? Can we pit a couple of them against one another or something?

-Defeated Team Rocket... I mean Adecor and Boccos. Again. <_<

-Holy crap, Yuri actually set them up against the assassins. I wanted it to happen, AND THEN IT DID.

-You know me, the fightin' freak Yuri
And we're at Ehmead Hill
You ready?

I ain't gonna let it get to me, I'm just gonna creep,
Down in Ehmead Hill I gots to find my lost blastia.
I know that it's here, I can sense it in my feet,
The lost blastia's power allows me to feel.
I can't see a thing but it's around somewhere,
I'm gonna hold my head 'cause I have no fear.
This probably seems crazy, crazy, a beast trail theory,
A snake tried to approach me and got leery.
Ask him a question and he vanished in a second,
I'm walkin' through valleys sniffin' flowers in the alley.
Didn't seem happy but they sure tried to get me,
Had to back 'em up with the sword's azure crackle
I'm hearing someone saying you a ratwigle, don't be scared!
It had to be the wind, 'cause nobody wasn't there.
I searched and I searched as I walked by the wall,
And then I started OH DEAR GOD THAT BOSS JUST MASSACRED MY WHOLE TEAM

Talk to the guy on the ramparts in Deidon Hold? He's at least kind of interesting. But yeah, lol Deidon Hold.

I know. =(

-----

-Karol is the most annoying character ever. Is he supposed to be a parody of Lloyd? Because that's what it looks like to me. <_<

He gets better. I mean, he's still probably my least favorite playable character, but he does get better.

-----

-Okay, back into the Quoi Woods. Eggbear time.

-OH GOD IS THE GIANT BIRD MONSTER COMING NO I AM SCARED

-...

You missed the best part of that whole "quest"

Yuri (In a great parody voice of Karol's original line): "Prepare to die, eggbear!"

-----

-Wow Rita sucks in battle. First fight, she casts Fireball twice, in completely the opposite direction of any monsters.

...lolz.

Rita single-handedly breaks the game later.

I mean, you're not even close to that point where she can, but Rita is by far the most broken character in Vesperia, and probably out of everyone in Symphonia, Abyss, and Vesperia. I think only Guy (Abyss) and Colette can come close.

But yeah, some of her spells are pretty useless in that they don't really correct their course if the enemy moves after the cast. Fireball isn't that bad about it though. It's also another move that gets better with use. In this case, more fireballs. I think at like 3000 uses it's up to 10 fireballs launched with one cast.

-----

-It seems like 90% of the time I don't get an attack of opportunity even if I stun enemies with the ring.

3 possible results on hitting an enemy with the Sorcerer's Ring:

1. Enemy gets pissed and charges you (White smoke cloud over them)
2. Enemy freezes, and that's it. (Turns blue)
3. Enemy freezes, and you get the advantage in battle. (Birds circle over the enemy's head)

-----

-Okay, new strategy. *lets team get KO'd so they'll stop wasting my items* *free runs circles around enemy* *AZURE EDGE SPAM* *hits his weakpoint for massive damage*

You could also change the preset strategies so that the AI doesn't use items. Or if you're normally okay with them doing that but not during boss fights, make an alternate strategy type for boss fights and switch to it at the start of battle.

I had 3 Strategy presets.

Default (I'm sure I made some minor alterations though)
Boss (Basically, default, but this time I removed the TP limits so they wouldn't stop casting at 50%)
Solo (Because the game's "solo" strategy that's always there never worked for me. The AI would back off for about 3 seconds then immediately join the fight again)

-----

-17 grade. Good improvement.

Late game Rita can get like 100 Grade/minute out of random encounters with the right artes and skill sets. Broken as hell.

XD

I'm not sure what's better, that version of Pumpkin Hill, or the running into Gattuso . That thing is a jerk. I still maintain he may be the hardest non-optional fight in the game. Or, at the very least, until a -lot- later in the game.
