Neither of those are as appealing as the fact that the DS Lite is Jet Black.

I have to disagree with a couple of things.

Good:
SNES
NES
PS2

Decent:
PS1 (No Analog)
360
Smaller X-Box
DC
GCN
6 Button Genesis

Bad:
3 Button Genesis
Large X-Box
N64 (I don't really think it's horrible.. but I didn't want GCN and N64 in the same box category. So 64 takes the drop here.)

I completely fail to see how anything is wrong with PS2 controller, other than the fact Sony's own brand breaks too easily. This is easily fixed by buying a 3rd party controller which is the same thing except with better triggers so they don't bend halfway inward and break off inside.

I personally found PS2's controller too complicated. There are like 348378947.52 buttons crammed into less than a square foot of plastic, and unlike most of Nintendo's games, where you only use two, three buttons, tops, you have to use a vast majority of PS2's.

Or maybe this is the PS I'm thinking about here.

Blegh.

QFT.

Edit: I also hate hate hate hate hate hate the dual-analog setup, hence why I have PS1 > PS2. <_<

...Dual analog sticks bother you? I'm sorry. That makes no fucking sense. >_>

As for all the buttons crammed in one spot.. The hell? There are not that many buttons on the PS or PS2 controllers. It's quite a simple setup and is extremely easy to use, ESPECIALLY compared to how out of whack the N64 controller was. The N64 was the one with tons of buttons that most games didn't even use. Sure it was a big controller, but the number of buttons was just retarded.

PS2

N64

1. Dual-analog is disgusting. I agree with Kenri.
2. N64 had four useless buttons - the C buttons - and two difficult-to-use buttons - the L button and the D-Pad. Horrible L/D-Pad positioning aside, it was relatively simple to use; unfortunately, those two buttons were sometimes quite important, in which cases you were screwed.
3. Why couldn't the PS just stick with two, three buttons, and call it a day? WHY?

1. I don't mind dual-analog. It never causes me any issues. In fact, it makes it easier to play a game with my foot if for some reason I felt like it.

2. That's still more useless buttons than the PS2 controller. Which tends to use all of them to great perfection, at least in the good games I've played.

3. Because two or three buttons would cause a button to have to multitask for some games which require better control. Which would end up horribly, like how if you played a game on the Genesis with the three button controller instead of the six, you'd be thrown into frustration. Like for example, Mortal Kombat 2 and on.

Well, it works in some games. Only in games where the top of your body is mapped to one stick and your legs to the other stick (FPSs, for example) is it awful.

The N64 was the one with tons of buttons that most games didn't even use. Sure it was a big controller, but the number of buttons was just retarded.

N64:

L
R
Z
A
B
C
DPad
Analog
Start

Total: 9 (I'm counting the C buttons as one unit, unless you want me to count each direction an analog can go as a separate button. :D)

PS2:

L1
L2
R1
R2
X
O
/_\
[ ]
Start
Select
DPad
Right analog
Left analog

Total: 13 (For your benefit, I'm not counting the analog button or the analog triggers. Drop both analogs if we're using PS1.)

Not to mention that in 90% of the N64 games, you either used the DPad and L or the Analog and Z, so I could even cut the N64 down by 2 buttons. But that wouldn't be fair.

The problem with your calculation.. is the fact an analog stick is not a button. Thus, I did not count it as so on the N64 or the PS2 controller. The C buttons ARE buttons, so each direction does count. It should be like this.

N64:

L
R
Z
A
B
C Up
C Left
C Right
C Down
DPad
Start

Total: 11

PS2

D Pad
X
[]
O
/\
L1
L2
R1
R2
Start
Select
R Trigger
L Trigger
Analog Button

Total: 14

Now, the main thing is, the PS2 doesn't use at least four of those buttons most of the time (The analog triggers, Select, and the analog button). Taking the total down to technically 10.

My main point is, the PS2 controller is not hard to use at all and calling it complicated is silly. Especially when you say you like the N64 controller. The N64 controller was at least twenty times more complicated.

...Yes it is, at least as much as a DPad is.

Thus, I did not count it as so on the N64 or the PS2 controller. The C buttons ARE buttons, so each direction does count. It should be like this.

The C Buttons are basically a DPad/Analog stick, hence how easily it became the C-Stick on the GCN controller.

Let me rephrase that.

I don't consider them buttons, considering I don't press them. I wiggle them. That's just my opinion.

As for the C Buttons basically being an analog stick.. On the GCN? Yes. On the N64? No. Not in my opinion.

...I know they aren't on the N64. I said "basically". That implies, when combined with the rest of my statement, that they aren't. I was only referring to your own mention of it kind of being the same as an analog stick.

The C Buttons are BASICALLY a DPad/ANALOG STICK, hence how easily it became the C-Stick on the GCN controller.

As for the C Buttons BASICALLY being an ANALOG STICK.. On the GCN? Yes. On the N64? No. Not in my opinion.

See? It's essentially the same thing as you said, with the words showing that in capital letters. I was merely stating the fact that calling them an analog stick was wrong. Calling them a D-Pad? That's closer. The only reason I didn't bother counting out the directions on the DPad is because there's one on both controllers so it wouldn't effect the outcome. The C Buttons would and it's only on the N64 controller. If the PS2 had something exactly like it, I'd have ruled out the directions because he has no effect. However, it merely has two actual analog sticks, and I rule those out since I don't personally see them as "buttons".
