I'm sure none of you have heard of it.
Anyway, I'm sure you all know of cracked ice puzzles.
They're in most RPGs.
You may have encountered one or two.
Or, like, a million. When I said "most RPGs", I meant "every RPG with an ice level".
Now, if there's one thing I love more than ice puzzles, it's not being able to save while in dungeons.
That's just a lovely feature.
It's not like the had the technology to do that back when this game was made, of course. Or when it was remade for FF Origins, the version I'm playing.
No, the "save anywhere" technology is a recent invention.
I can overlook the lack of it and the ice puzzles. I'm a reasonable person.
What I can't overlook is this:
*entire dungeon is finished, boss is defeated, I'm two steps away from the exit stairs*
*I take a step*
*random encounter*
Keep in mind my guys are full health, now.
Four Dark Wizards appear.
Enemy strikes first!
...Right now the full hatred of the rest of the Earth combined could not equal mine. I had already been killed by these guys once. I knew what was coming, but I was in no way prepared for it.

Now, each of those Fire3s did roughly 100 damage. To each one of my guys. Especially my Black Mage, because BMs take damage like a prepubescent girl.
My course of action is clear. Monk, Thief, Black Mage - Flee. White Mage - Cure3 on Black Mage.
Dark Wizard casts Poison!
In cast you don't know, Poison is an instant death spell.
That affects everyone.
Now, that can't possibly hit all my guys, can it?
No. My Black Mage with roughly 3 HP is left standing. Thank you, FFI.

And game over.
Okay, WHAT THE FUCK, SQUARE? WHAT KIND OF PIECE OF SHIT DECIDED RANDOM ENCOUNTER ENEMIES SHOULD HAVE INSTA-DEATH BULLSHIT SPELLS AND BOLT-FUCKING-3? I KNOW WHAT BOLT3 DOES. I JUST GOT IT. TEN MINUTES AGO. BOLT3 IS THE KIND OF SPELL THAT NUKES EVERYTHING IN A FIVE MILE RADIUS, THEN REVIVES THEM, THEN NUKES THEM AGAIN FOR GOOD MEASURE. YOU DO NOT GIVE RANDOM ENCOUNTER PIECE OF SHIT ENEMIES BOLTGODDAMN3 AND FUCKING POISON.
If I ever meet the guy who's bright idea this was, I will shove a FFI cartridge so far up his ass, he'll cough up FFX-2.

PS Origins and Dawn of Souls are actually easier versions of the game IIRC.

If you need to "level up" at any point in a game, that game is crappy.
I've seen no exceptions to this rule thus far.
And Monks are the best character class in the game except BMs and maybe WMs, wtf are you smoking? >_>

And my Thief/Monk could each have OHKO'd one of them. Hell, my WM might have been able to as well; they're spellcasters, they die from slight breezes.
The problem is that I didn't get a turn to do anything. They got two turns in a row.
Edit: I also OTK'd the boss of the dungeon. It's not a matter of my level.
