| Level: 43 Editor | I have no idea why people are treating this as the second coming of Jesus, because it is entirely the same game as the normal Pokemon Emerald. The added Pokemon are either way too rare or suck, and there are no changes that I can see to ANYTHING else. They could have at least given Flannery a Magmar and taught Brawly's Makuhita Surf or something. Okay, maybe that's missing the point. Maybe this is trying to stay "true" to the original. Still, there are some specific problems I feel the need to point out. -Cubone is in the desert. What the hell? Why is it not at Mt. Pyre? Mt. Pyre basically screams "put Cubone here!" (Okay, okay, I haven't been to Mt. Pyre yet so it could be there...) -Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee in the desert. Once again, what the HELL? What POSSIBLE reason is there for the Hitmons to be in the DESERT? -I'm (sort of) okay with starters being catchable in the wild, but they're about as common as everything else. I mean, maybe it's just me, but I think starters should be at least SOMEWHAT rare. And Bulbasaur is in PETALBURG WOODS. That's like 3 minutes into the game. Couldn't they have at least put them somewhere near the end of the game? -Kabuto and Omanyte are catchable in the top room of Mirage Tower, where the Root and Claw fossils are. Sorry, but I find that incredibly silly. Couldn't they have added more fossils in, like, Meteor Falls or the Safari Zone or something, instead of allowing extinct Pokemon to just freely roam around? -The Safari Zone. It seems to me that just about every "hey, I have no idea where to put this" Pokemon was thrown into the Safari Zone. -Eevee and Porygon are just randomly catchable in the wild. These things are supposed to be INCREDIBLY rare. Again, wtf. -So far I haven't encountered any legendaries, but it bothers me to think of where they were all stuck. By far the best addition is Diglett. Diglett absolutely breaks the game here, as nothing has been able to stand up its wrath since I got it (with the exception of Norman's hax Slaking. Goddamn Facade and Hyper Potions.) --- "I've seen her crying before. I heard the tortured crying of her heart. And to me... sounded so lovable." END OF [TAKE] - August, 2006 |

| Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | I didn't have anything over level 30, but my awesome Ivysaur was able to poison and seed Slaking for the win anyway. Because it's just that awesome. -Cubone is in the desert. What the hell? Why is it not at Mt. Pyre? Mt. Pyre basically screams "put Cubone here!" (Okay, okay, I haven't been to Mt. Pyre yet so it could be there...) It's not. The lack of foresight on the part of the hacker is amusing. -Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee in the desert. Once again, what the HELL? What POSSIBLE reason is there for the Hitmons to be in the DESERT? ...Otherwise nobody would go to the desert? Eh? -I'm (sort of) okay with starters being catchable in the wild, but they're about as common as everything else. I mean, maybe it's just me, but I think starters should be at least SOMEWHAT rare. And Bulbasaur is in PETALBURG WOODS. That's like 3 minutes into the game. Couldn't they have at least put them somewhere near the end of the game? I have Bulbasaur, but I haven't been able to find the others - and I've been searching for Charmander - so I can't say they're that common. As for Bulby's location, I think it's nice, namely because I don't want to expend any intellectual effort on this game and Venosaur makes it happen. Wow, that's idiotic. Almost as idiotic as putting whatever evolves from those fossils somewhere else, as if waiting for the Tower to show up wasn't pointless and boring enough already. -The Safari Zone. It seems to me that just about every "hey, I have no idea where to put this" Pokemon was thrown into the Safari Zone. Yes. And I still want my Chansey. -Eevee and Porygon are just randomly catchable in the wild. These things are supposed to be INCREDIBLY rare. Again, wtf. Porygon is probably one of, if not the, most common Pokemon in that area. Eeevee on the other hand takes about 30 minutes to find on average, unless you're lucky. Anyway, I agree with you in terms of flavor, but I only wanted to play this game for the Eevees, the legendary dogs, and the legendary birds, so I don't care that much. -So far I haven't encountered any legendaries, but it bothers me to think of where they were all stuck. Apparently some of them are found in the Safari Zone, while the others appear to be found at sea. By far the best addition is Diglett. Diglett absolutely breaks the game here, as nothing has been able to stand up its wrath since I got it (with the exception of Norman's hax Slaking. Goddamn Facade and Hyper Potions.) | Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | Bulbasaur is by no means common, Kenri. I've been looking for one for WEEKS. -_- I found Torchic after maybe two-three hours outside of Petalburg Woods, but Bulbasaur absolutely fucking REFUSES to show up. Also, Mewtwo and some other Legendaries are in the Safari Zone. At least a few of them are. Mew has own island as does Deoxys like they're supposed to, and some other Legendaries appear on Mirage Island too. Zapdos/Articuno/Moltres are in the Artisan Cave I think..or something. Basically, the point of the game is be able to complete the Pokedex without sharking or trading. The core of the game is still there, regardless of where things are put. It's just something to do when bored, Kenri. After all, if you're playing Pokemon on an emulator you're breaking the purpose anyway, which is to trade and play against OTHER PEOPLE. *Ahem* >_> I've said my piece. +++ "I had an Irish accent back in the day.. | Level: 43 Editor | I have Bulbasaur, but I haven't been able to find the others - and I've been searching for Charmander - so I can't say they're that common. Cyndaquil is above Slateport, before the Cycling Road. Torchic can be found right before Petalburg Woods, I think, and also in that Spinda infested route where all the grass is covered by ash. Charmander is at Mt. Pyre. Bulbasaur is at Petalburg Woods. Bayleef is in the tall grass before the Weather Center, I don't think Chickorita is catchable. Yeah, I know. I take this kind of stuff way too seriously, though. >_> Eevee is supposed to be uber-rare, nearly extinct. IIRC there are something like 5 in existence during GSC, of course that takes place 3 years after Emerald so maybe they all died in that time. <_<; Apparently some of them are found in the Safari Zone, while the others appear to be found at sea. Those "found at sea" ones are on Mirage Island, I believe, which is actually a pretty decent solution. Isn't that the Safari Zone's purpose? >_> Yeah, but I mean, Jynx? Mr. Mime? Electabuzz? Aren't there better places for them? (Electabuzz would work PERFECTLY in New Mauville, for example, and Jynx can go on that island with all the Spheal that I forget the name of. Mr. Mime could replace one of the in-game trades no one cares about, like Ralts for a Seedot. WTF, who would do that. >_>) ...Otherwise nobody would go to the desert? Eh? Trapinch and Regirock (I think) are exclusive to the desert, so people would still go there. <_< I didn't have anything over level 30, but my awesome Ivysaur was able to poison and seed Slaking for the win anyway. Because it's just that awesome. Eh, my team was Primeape, Kadabra, Quilava, Sableye, and Dugtrio, and all of them go 2-3HKO'd by Facade, while Norman just used Hyper Potions whenever I did any damage. Eventually I won with Sabeye, using (I'm not even kidding) - FURY SWIPES. Because my alternatives were two Ghost moves and Detect. >_> --- "I've seen her crying before. | Level: 43 Editor | Bulbasaur is by no means common, Kenri. I've been looking for one for WEEKS. -_- I found Torchic after maybe two-three hours outside of Petalburg Woods, but Bulbasaur absolutely fucking REFUSES to show up. You fail at Pokemon. Torchic is about as common as Wingull, and Bulbasaur is more common than Slakoth. You are using the tilde while playing, right? You'll get in an encounter every .5 seconds or so. >_> Basically, the point of the game is be able to complete the Pokedex without sharking or trading. The core of the game is still there, regardless of where things are put. It's just something to do when bored, Kenri. After all, if you're playing Pokemon on an emulator you're breaking the purpose anyway, which is to trade and play against OTHER PEOPLE. Yeah, but it also removes all of the challenge of completing the Pokedex. =/ Anyway, I couldn't agree more with that last line, which is also why I dislike this on principle. --- "I've seen her crying before. IIRC there are something like 5 in existence during GSC, of course that takes place 3 years after Emerald so maybe they all died in that time. <_<; Perhaps after they went extinct they all found new life, Jesus-like, and decided to "hang" with some Porygons. Those "found at sea" ones are on Mirage Island, I believe, which is actually a pretty decent solution. That would explain it. They're also in Artisan Cave, however, whatever that is.
