Very basic integration is ok, like

Integral (x^3 - 3x^2 + 6x - 7)

Even u-substitution isn't that bad.

But once it gets complex and need the chain rule... hate. Especially since I don't know how to do those. =(

So is very basic differentiation. Any idiot can plug numbers into anxn-1 and come up with the right answer. Likewise, any idiot can do xn+1/n+1, or whatever the integration formula is.

Even u-substitution isn't that bad. But once it gets complex and need the chain rule... hate. Especially since I don't know how to do those. =(

Yes, and unfortunately, that's where most problems involving integration end up: downtown Hell.

You would be surprised. I could see people like my brother failing at that miserably. Granted, I don't think I could ever see my brother in a Calculus class.

Note: I hate the edit post thing changing your apostrophes and other such symbols into warped text, replacing it is so annoying, especially when you screw up.

Well, it probably depends on (a) how it's explained, (b) whether or not the person doing it is mentally disabled, and (c) how complicated the problem is. If someone were given 2x3, the differentiation formula, and the instructions "put 2 in place of a and 3 in place of both instances of n, then solve", the only problem would be ignorance of the fact that anx is the same as a * n * x. That and a general inability to multiply and add.
