| Level: 43 Editor | About every 5-10 seconds, the slight sound (not unlike a whine) that my laptop makes continuously when running will stop. Accompanying this stop, the monitor freezes for a split second. Music keeps playing, the keyboard still works, but the screen takes about a quarter of a second to catch up. While not a huge problem, this does make watching videos quite painful, so I'd like to resolve it if possible. So, TFN, how does I fix laptop? --- The Credo of Little Mac: Any time not spent doing ZE UPPERCUT is time that could be better spent doing ZE UPPERCUT. | Level: 37 Advanced | One think i would do is make sure software isn't the problem. oddly enough, i use to believe software would never cause computers to behave like that, but now i beg to differ. >_> try disabling everything first and see what happens. Best way to do this is MSCONFIG to see if this is true. go to start and type msconfig. for XP you gotta go to Run and type it. Then put your PC on selective start-up in the General tab and then go to the tab that says "Services". check the box that says "Hide All Microsoft services" (I find this is always important since Microsoft sometimes has some stupid shit on PCs that causes it to go Whoamg! if something ever happens to Microsoft program D:) and then hit Disable all. hit ok and then restart. If things are fixed, then your PC is running something that you put on there recently <.< usually %95 of the time that this fixes things, it's something that was added to the notebook when you got it. After you're done doing this, you should undo everything we did since this mode technically isn't a fix, it's just a temporary fix that just stops pretty much everything from starting up. do the exact same thing i showed you earlier, but check "Normal Startup" to undo everything we did. --- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOWf_T0jdgQ - Robo's theme |

| Level: 43 Editor | That seems to have fixed it (I say "seems to" because it kind of comes and goes at random). But I don't remember installing anything recently... Huh. o_o Anyway, thanks. --- The Credo of Little Mac: Any time not spent doing ZE UPPERCUT is time that could be better spent doing ZE UPPERCUT. "This topic is just as dumb as you are." ~Ogor |

| Level: 37 Advanced | No problem. Like i said, if that fixed it, it's usually some 3rd party application. like Norton or something. --- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOWf_T0jdgQ - Robo's theme |
