Left 4 Dead. a 8 player zombie infestation game with 4 players being the survivors and 4 players being Infected "bosses" in the game.

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=535896

This is the basic info on the game. on a side note, this game is being based off of the Half-Life 2 engine as well, just like TF2 was. however, in THIS game, so far, there's no better improvements from our understanding so far.

however... here's where all of the game action is seen. and if you can't watch videos, i highly recommend you do it. now >_>

Best damn video of this game ever...

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/24559.html

just 10 seconds into it, and the heroes are 20 man rushed. and that big fat guy going after them? That's a player :O

Basically, the bad guys got around 20-50 zombie minions chasing them down and the 4 bosses (Smoker... a tongue lashing bastard?!?) get to plot things with one another.

the heroes are tough, loaded with ammo and have minimal first aid, but can they survive 5 safehouses? can the infected stop them before they get to that helicopter?

so far it's for the PC/XBOX360. i want this for PS3 so bad :(

Well of course TF2 was, the Source engine is Valve's baby >.>

Anyway, seems very interesting. PC + Source Engine = Way it should be!

The 4 types of Bosses that players get to play are the most interesting too. there's actually 6 Boss infected, 4 regulars, 1 on a timer, and 1 that isn't played by a player.

Boomers: Fat ass eric cartman zombies that spit blood all over you. makes your monitor all bloody when this happens, blinding you for 20 seconds at the max from what i seen o_O
but the best part is... you die, and you blow up like a bomb. fun guy to kamakaze the survivors with.

Hunters: They're the fastest, but the most fragile. they're the guys that sit still and wait to jump on you at the worst possible time and attempt to claw you down to death. only way to get them off is to struggle with them, or hopefully a friend shoots the Hunter off. they also give off a roar every 15 seconds to let the survivors know that a Hunter is nearby to prevent hiding in the game and doing nothing. there can be two hunters on the infected team.

Smokers: Zombies? with giant tongues? These guys are like the licker monsters from Resident Evil 2, with the exception that they aren't fast and durable, but rather they try to strangle you with their tongues from certain areas on the game. like bridges or buildings and ontop of a truck. they can also emit smoke from their bodies when shot at, suffocating survivors and disorienting them. when they die, the area gets smoked, and the smoke inside buildings can get really nasty. >.>

Tanks: The Hulk version of Zombies or infected. he goes around smashing everything and throwing cars and rocks at the survivors. >.> takes a shit ton of ammo to kill. he's loud and can even run through walls from what i heard, but haven't seen him run through walls yet.

The Witch: crazy lady infected that only appears in the harder diffulculty games if the players so choose it. it's a zombie that noone controls, but is exactly like a regular infected except she's eratic and can instantly kill a survivor. don't know if it's just a one hit kill or just one hit and they gotta be rescued from the bleeding afterwards, but she's the one hit wonder that survivors wanna stay the fuck away from >.>

all of this is on the forums i linked, but i'm getting more pumped for this game. damn September... thank god SSBB will be here soon. <_<

Eh. Game sounds interesting, but the Zombies sound over-powered so it might wind up being like some of Starcraft's UMS games.

"I WANT BE ZOMBIE!!!"
"No. There's 4 zombies already."
*That person leaves*
*Everyone else leaves*

You say that Boomers blow up upon death? Not really smart. People might just choose to go ALL them and go on Suicide runs.

According to the site, there can be only one boomer in the game at a time. same with the smoker, but there can be two hunters. so there's the 4 team setup there. once someone dies, they gotta wait to be respawned by the Director (The AI in this game).

Tanks are however for a limited amount of time in the stages selectable. they just rampage through the game after the players and are hard as hell to kill, but they can also be beaten by avoiding him altogether with his slow speed and constant roaring. the game added a frustration meter to the tank to prevent people griefing this powerful infected for the purpose of helping the survivors and will instead switch to the nearest player or be controlled by the Director if he don't attack the survivors.

Another thing that's neat is this game has no respawn points. and only the Infected actually spawn in the game, but are instead placed in the game where the Director believes is the best ambush spot for the infected to attack the survivors. it's meant to keep zombies/infected from being predictable. From what i read, the Director can even just drop you right into a crowd of infected attacking the survivors to add more mayhem. talk about a surprise boomer o_O

But that don't mean the Director just randomly drops countless zombies on you once all the zombies are dead. he/she drops the infected on you at random times as well. they can range from a minute to 5 minutes depending on the flow of battle from what Steam says.

Alright. so there's a final stage in every scenario after safely being guided through 5 safehouses (rooms that are secured to the teeth with a red steel door and loaded with ammo. and windows to shoot infected from! <3) ... where the survivors get to setup defenses with a big ass mounted machine gun and pour gasoline all over the perimeter...

pouring gas on the goddamn area...
lighting it on fire...

pouring the gas is just as mischievious as it sounds, but you also get to light it. there's strategy there and it must make you feel... evil >.>
