| Level: 37 Advanced | i don't want to stop playing it now. it's that damn good. the game storywise (Definitely), gameplay wise, and boss battle wise, this game had it all done almost near perfect. Storywise, the story was the bomb. i never got tired of watching the story. most movie scenes run a good 10-15 minutes, but towards the end of the game, scenes are literally over an hour or two long. i tried turning off the game to go to bed at 9 PM after beating it, but had to leave the machine run for two hours just for the ending part alone. speaking of endings. did i mention the last boss battle was handsdown the best fight ever? followed by the ending? which will make people cry... alot. and the online game is pretty good to boot too. tried downloading some stuff afterwards on my PS3, but only things you can download currently are one costume and one face mask. but i hear there's going to be some more content in the future. If there was one thing this game gave me the best, is the nostalgia feeling in this game. I can talk about this part the best without spoiling the game, but this game has the best nostalgia feeling in this game i ever experienced in any game that tries to root back to it's old history. what i mean is in detail and execution. i can only recall one other game that was this good, and that was Super Metroid, but Metal Gear solid 4 did just as good. makes me glad i can play this game anytime now just to screw around with all the nostalgia, nickpicking all the things that happened in all the previous metal gear solid stuff and see if there's something the producers missed just for the hell of it, or just to see something else give me a reality slap. After completing the game, i decided to try out the Metal Gear online game for a bit. Let me get started by saying, it's well put together. it's not the best, since the best description of Metal Gear Online is like this: plain and simple. We all design a soldier. the design for a soldier goes into good details, with at least 4-6 parts per body part. this can range from head, eyes, chest, arms, hands, legs and feet. after creating the character, you can only create another character by paying for that player. yup. it's a strict process for creating characters, but the first character is always free. the best part is though, is that you can play this new guy to the point that he can excel at everything, A.K.A, mowed your personal soldier to become the next Snake after playing many games. however an interesting aspect of howthis works is that there's talents for your soldier ranging from Handgun expert, sniper expert, and CQC expert and Sixth sense expert. as you play the game more with the selected ability and you use that ability more and more, your player gets more skilled at said skill. you can only level a skill 2 times before it hits the max. once maxed out, you can equip other talents to level up. however a note about this however is that by unequipping the skills, you lose whatever benefit they give you too, so it's up to you to decide if you want to be flexible and have all the skills up over a big ass alot of time, or stick with your favourite 4 talents. once the character is ready, you then decide to play one of these types of games or manually search for a game host. the game types are: Deathmatch, Team DeathMatch, Base Missions (domination for those into FPS games), Capture missions (Capture the flag), Rescue Missions (Protect the Frog, or steal the frog and return it to your spawn point. One live each) and finally Sneaking mission. --- "I now leave you to~" "your moosey fate!" "...your moosey fate..." ~ GIR and Zim |

| Level: 37 Advanced | Sneaking mission in this game is a much more better version than the previous Metal Gear online version for sure. before the game was about snake running in and out of a base with the gecko and the other 7 players stopping him, but Snake was sickenly powerful. Snake still "IS" sickenly powerful, but this time Snake doesn't get it as easy with the players. He may have the OctoCamo, which is similar to what big Boss used in MGS3 to keep players from seeing him and a far more improved way to keep players from seeing him, and he may have the advantage of having the 16th player in the game playing as his trusty MKII robot, there's a few problems with the rules now: One: his mission is to steal 3 other player's dog tags without dying three times by either the red or blue team before the time runs out. this is hard to do out in the open with eveyrone watching you. Snake also loses the tags if he dies with possession of any of them. Two: snake's role is more of a "attack when the opportunity shows itself" game. all the other players have the luxury of doing whatever the hell they want: Kill Snake or rank up kills on the other team in the event that Snake fails his mission to be the winning team. This makes the game not a game of hide and seek, but rather a war game with Snake being the one that has to find clever ways to sneak some players towards him or at least find players that are not within the action and steal their tags. He can't go Rambo like he id before, which brings me to reason #3. Three: If any of the players happens to actually LOOK at Snake, they automatically alarm their team with the classical, entertaining "!" noise (Followed by a "!" on their head. i never stop laughing everytime i see my guy do that whenever i see Snake XD). you can also activate the "!" if you think you found snake hiding in a box, drum barrel or even blended really well up on the wall. at this point, Snake has the unfortunate problem of trying to get himself to hide again, which is nearly impossible with good players. he has ways to hide and many ways to flee, but what makes it bad is that the whole team knows who went "!" on Snake and will try to immediately back him up to prevent him from escaping. as mentioned earlier, anyone that kills Snake gets a major lead, and the team wants Snake dead whenever he reveals himself. The online game is definitely fleshed out for the average metal gear solid fan, and i'm having a big ball playing it, but the actual game itself is still very well rewarding. online and MGS4 are both well worth the money and i'm glad i bought the game and PS3 not just for this game too. can't wait to see what other games the PS3 has to offer for the future with Resident Evil 5. --- "I now leave you to~" "your moosey fate!" | Level: 37 Advanced | speaking of endings. did i mention the last boss battle was handsdown the best fight ever? followed by the ending? which will make people cry... alot. Agreed. With all of that. I didn't cry, but I got goosebumps throughout. As for MGO, On the point of alerting the whole team -- isn't it only truly given way (even though everyone hears it regardless) that you share the data only if you have SOP connected? (which of course a person is cut off from every time he or she dies). Also, on the point of leveling skills up: If you level a skill up to Level 2, it'll cost you 2/4 skill slots, and the same goes for level 3 costing 3/4 skill slots. I have personal preference of only using Handgun + Knife =D --- SIEG ZEON! http://luigi87.deviantart.com/ |

| Level: 37 Advanced | I have personal preference of only using Handgun + Knife =D I prefer being a sniper. though if skill slots didn't pick up so many slots, i would be sniper, handgun, CQC and Sixth sense all the way. Alerting i admit i'm still testing, but from what i can tell, despite how loud the "!" noise is, i don't know if everyone hears it. i'm thinking it's similar to a player injecting nanomachines into enemy players in CQC to learn of their location. --- "I now leave you to~" "your moosey fate!" | Level: 37 Advanced | Yeah, it's all about listening. If you are close to Snake for example, and if his OctoCamo changes, you can hear it (just how some troops can hear you activating NV mode on the Solid Eye in MGS4). Actually, one can probably hear that too. --- SIEG ZEON! http://luigi87.deviantart.com/ |

| Level: 37 Advanced | The Console War has changed. Its no longer about developers, philosophies, or marketing sense; its an endless series of FPS titles fought by gamers on their machines. The Console War and its consumption of life has become a well-oiled machine. The Console War has changed. ID-tagged accounts carry ID-tagged discs and use ID-tagged controllers. Electrolytes inside their bodies enhance and regulate their abilities. Registry control. Storage space control. Credit card control. Downloadable Content control. Everything is monitored and kept under control. The Console War has changed. The age of next-generation has become the age of control, and all in the name of averting gamers from purchasing from those known competitors. And he who controls the Internet... controls opinions. The Console War has changed. When the games are under total control, gaming becomes routine. --- SIEG ZEON! http://luigi87.deviantart.com/ |
