I know there's a few folks on here that are pc savy(And no scorp I don't mean you. Your way of fixing electronics is the same as mine shooting them) Anyways I have no sound coming from my speakers and I just bought a new set today. I almost 100% sure that it is the sound card is there anything I can do to fix this temporally. As I don't have the cash flow atm to replace a sound card.

If this is a laptop: No way to 'fix' it aside from taking the computer apart and putting in a new sound card, which is expensive and I do NOT recommend it as you can seriously fuck your laptop by taking it apart if you've never done it before. Buy yourself a PCMCIA sound card (~30 bucks). You'll prob have to remove it every time you pack your laptop away, depending on the position of the slot on the laptop, but it's your best bet.

If this is a desktop: Sound cards are cheap as hell.

Here's a bunch for under 10 dollars. If you don't have that, there is really nothing you can do.


Also, as retarded as this sounds, make sure you have everything plugged in correctly - that's a pretty common mistake. How did you get sound before? Or did you not have speakers until now? Or is it a new comp?

The sound card shouldn't stop working simply because you switched speakers. Do your old speakers still emit sound?

No the old speakers don't, I checked everything 4 or 5 times. I thought maybe the old speakers might have gone bad as they had been chewed threw once before by one of our cats an my ex bro-in-law spliced them back together an put eletrical tape around the area. So we got new speakers hooked everything up an still no sound.
