Along with my anime backlog is an enormous video game one. Here is evidence:

http://www.backloggery.com/celtic7guardian

(Note that all the games it says I have beaten tonight, August 21, were listed as 'completed' by accident. I was remarking them.)

So I'm making this topic to motivate myself to continue playing other games. Kenri's topic is awesome but I'll feel a lot more motivated if I have a list of my own to keep track of. That and this way I won't clutter his topic with my useless rambling.

Long story short, anyone who has suggestions on what to put higher on my priority list or games to look for and buy are welcome to speak of them. xp wants me to play Xenosaga III (meaning I'd be replaying I and then taking on II beforehand), and Kenri wants me to play Tales of Vesperia (missables make me sad).

My preorder list at this moment: Metroid Prime Trilogy, Dissida: Final Fantasy, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, Scribblenauts, Persona, and Kingdom Hearts 358/2. So no need to recommend any of those, I have already decided to get them. No need to tell me they will suck either because I am fairly confident I will like them all. >_>

Right now I'm kind of toggling between several games, but none of them are worth remarking on. I'm on my fourth playthrough of Riviera, so not much will strike me as new there. Dragon Quest V is very close to being completed. Pokmon Platinum's battle frontier is one of the worst things ever so it will take me a long time to complete it. Crash Bandicoot is a game I like to pick up occasionally so my stress level remains steady; if I played it all the time, constant falling down pits would drive me nuts. And The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is good stuff, I need to keep going with it.

But with all that said and done, I will be playing, of all things, Pokmon Coliseum. Maybe I have some underlying self hatred. Once I have begun it I will begin posting updates. Joy.

Xenosaga III (meaning I'd be replaying I and then taking on II beforehand)

I haven't played 3, so I can't comment on its quality.

But I can almost guarantee it's not worth putting yourself through 2.

Ugh...worst money I've ever spent in my life.

lrn2stealth update <_<

Also forget about Pokemon Platinum, it's impossible. LttP is much more important, and Pokemon Coliseum should be amusing for us if not for you. >_>

If II has a decent storyline, I don't care about the battle system sucking.

Platinum isn't impossible, it'd probably just take several years before finally getting lucky enough to complete it. But yes, I agree, LttP is far more important than the frontier.

Xenosaga III is the best game ever, so it is indeed worth it. But yes, Xenosaga II becomes ridiculous as you get near the end.

The battle system doesn't just suck. I remember getting my ass kicked by a church for months on end because they attacked about 10 times before I did for up to three times the damage I did each time.

I still don't understand the boost (or whatever that crazy system is called) system. It's the only game that I've just put down and never come back to on the final boss.

The worst part is apparently the team I want to use will be nearly impossible to beat the game with. lol me.

Well, there could be worse teams. But yes, how Xenosaga II's battle system works, some characters are just not going to be very helpful at all, and are in fact probably quite detrimental.

And Cross, if we're thinking of the same thing, I think by that point I found the normal encounters worse than the bosses. Because the normal encounters had way too much HP, did way too much damage and there were multiples of them. I had to basically fight them as if I were fighting multiple bosses.

That part of the game was indeed the worst you have to deal with.

It's been 4 years since I played, so it's possible I'm not remembering right, but it was the boss right before the final boss I think. Something to do with floating or moving platforms or something.

I'm probably horribly off on this. I also remember that the robot fights were stupid. Terribly, terribly stupid.

[Spoiler for Pokmon Colosseum: Up to Miror B.'s First Battle, click to show]I started this morning and was quickly reminded of why Wes (main character's default name, which I stuck with) is the best main character in any Pokmon game. Most of your guys start off by innocently visiting their professor and getting their first Pokmon. A fair beginning, nothing wrong with it. But compare that to blowing up a criminal hideout, stealing one of their most treasured possessions, and riding off on a crazy-looking motorcycle. That is how Wes is introduced and it establishes him as totally awesome.

Wes stops at a store in the outskirts. I take the time to check up on my two starters, Espeon and Umbreon. This is one of the redeeming points of the game for me. Espeon is my favorite Pokmon, while Umbreon is close behind it. This combination is easily my favorite starters, with the Eevee from Pokmon XD being my second. This Espeon and Umbreon are Mild and Jolly natured respectively, which isn't great but certainly not as bad as it could have been. Not sure if their genders are always male, but that's what I wound up with. Espeon starts with Confusion, Return, Reflect, and Helping Hand while Umbreon comes with Bite, Secret Power, Taunt, and Snatch. By the end of my session I'd substituted Return with Swift, and then Swift with Psybeam (I thought Swift could be useful due to hitting both opponents, but it sucks either way). Umbreon ditched Snatch for Confuse Ray and Secret Power for Faint Attack.

There was a truck in front of the shop that had a squirming bag. Now we know where Resident Evil 4's bag came from! Two goons came out to drive away with it. I like how they nearly ran Wes over due to my positioning in front of the car while the cutscene happened.

Inside the store, the TV shows how Wes blew up the hideout of Team Snatch' Em. Silly name but oddly catchy. Then a purple-haired guy named Willie challenged me to a match. First battle of the game, so it's obviously easy. Two Zigzagoons that go down quickly. I came back later to fight a Linoone instead, so at least he gets somewhat better as time goes on. Note that every fight in this game is a double battle. I like the concept of trying new ideas, but double battles can get tedious. At least it makes for some interesting strategies.

The next town has the goons carrying the bag when a voice yells that they are being kidnapped. Well then. One of the goons attacks with Whismurs of all things. I always thought they looked stupid. After that easy win, I open the bag to find a girl, Rui (default name again). She talks about weird Pokmon and says she wants to speak to the mayor. Simple enough task.

...For some reason, my accented e won't show up, so Pokemon will be without the accent.

[Spoiler for Pokemon Colosseum: Up to Miror B.'s First Battle, click to show]Before going there, I run around town and beat all the trainers available. Nothing too special. Then we talk to the mayor after running into a silver-haired flamboyant guy (clearly the villain). The mayor says he will look into the situation. Then we run into some Team Snag'Em members who demand I give back the Snag Machine. Apparently Wes was part of the team but betrayed them. That alone gives him more depth than pretty much any other protagonist in this series. After beating them up, Rui says she believes in Wes anyway, especially since he saved her. One thing I find interesting is how Wes has an Espeon and an Umbreon. Those can only be gotten through evolving an Eevee with happiness, so obviously he must have been taking good care of them. Their descriptions also say "Wes' old friend". Doesn't make me think villain all that much.

Rui suggests buying Poke Balls, so I go back to the outskirts store. Rui rides in the sidecar, which kinda disappoints me because Espeon and Umbreon would ride beside you before she joins. By rule of thumb I like to buy Pok Balls in quantities of ten, especially since that nets you a Premier Ball.

I should note something about this. Most times you start Pokemon games with barely any money and only a Potion from the computer. Wes came with 10,000 to spend and a whole assortment of items. Also, his Espeon and Umbreon started in the mid-twenties level-wise. Lots of trainers comment on your expertise. It's pretty interesting to play with a veteran instead of a new kid. I like the change.

We go back to town and-HOLY HECK WHAT IS WITH THAT GUY'S HAIR. Miror B. dances away with his crazy music and ridiculous afro while he leaves the goons behind for us to fight. One sends out a Makuhita. Rui says it has a black aura and I should try to catch it. Kind of anti-climatic that a flipping Makuhita is my first Pokemon to snatch, but what the hey. It gets caught first try and the goons run off sobbing. Rui wants to help all the Pokemon like that, which is where "Gotta catch 'em all" comes into play in this game.

On the way out of town, three trainers are blocking the exits. I choose to fight Verde to find a Shadow Bayleef. I did this because Chikorita was always my favorite Johto starter, there aren't many other Grass types I like using, and it won't matter in the very long run since the other two starters can be picked up later. (Not sure how but I know they can be.)

After passing through a tower that is not yet complete, we arrive in a town full of thugs. Lots of battles here and lots of Shadow Pokemon to catch. When all was said and done, I had obtained a Noctowl, Flaaffy, Skiploom, Quagsire, Misdreavus, and Slugma. I kept the Makuhita, Bayleef, Noctowl, and Flaaffy around to make them more friendly (walking and battling with Shadow Pokemon helps to open their hearts, more on that later). Special mention goes to Misdreavus for being a royal pain in the rear end. First time she got criticalled, second time she killed herself, and both of those battles she killed Espeon. The third time was the charm, and I stuffed her into the computer to forget that nonsense. Also found a Furret which I may keep in my team since it is adorable.

[Spoiler for Pokemon Colosseum: Up to Miror B.'s First Battle, click to show]Apparently Shadow Pokemon were being given out as prizes at the Colosseum in town, so I did a bunch of nonsense to get there (summary: Duking usually rules the town, Miror B. kidnapped his Plusle, Duking has to sit on his hands, his friend Silva doesn't know what's going on and is trying to do stuff like steal a gear that we have to retrieve, it's as fascinating as it sounds). Beat the Colosseum challenge easily. Another side note: this game has some really nice music. I like a lot of the battle themes. It's especially noticeable in the Colosseum.

Sure enough, one of Miror B.'s lackeys tries to give me a Shadow Pokemon, thus letting me into the hideout. Pro choice. By going through all this, I wind up catching a Yanma (which I accidentally criticalled my first time, argh), Remoraid (only level 20 for some reason, lowest leveled one yet), Mantine, Qwilfish (see Yanma), Meditite, Dunsparce, and Swablu. The Meditite had a Twistedspoon, an item that raises Psychic attacks. Espeon got it instantly.

After many battles and items were found (along with rescuing Silva, but who cares about him), Miror B. was found dancing with four Ludicolos. What a devious villain he is. His four Ludicolos got owned by Psybeam from Espeon with Bites from Umbreon to clean up. Miror B. also had a Shadow Sudowoodo. Obviously it wanted to be an impostor on the dancing team, so I did Miror B. a favor and took it from him. Miror B. ran off, leaving the Plusle to be saved. Duking then gave me said Plusle. I doubt I'll ever use it but at least it's kinda cute.

My next destination is the town where Rui's grandfather lives. That should be good, since Makuhita, Bayleef, Noctowl, and Flaaffy are all ready to be purified. Furret's nearly there too. My team will start to shape up as I purify. I'll probably keep Bayleef and Flaaffy. Flaaffy is especially useful due to Thunder Wave, which is a great move for catching Pokmon.

More updates to come.

[Spoiler for Pokemon Colosseum: Up to Agate Village, click to show]I like the design of Agate Village. When a Pokemon is nearly ready to be purified I usually walk around here until it is done.

Talking to the locals yielded some items, a battle, and an old woman who says her boyfriend is her Mightyena. I'm sure someone out there has already drawn pictures of that couple. After all that, Rui met up with her grandparents. That cheery little moment is interrupted by someone running in and yelling that people were going into the Celebi cave area. Eagun (Rui's grandfather) runs off to kick them out. We follow to beat up three random thugs.

So Eagun's grand plan to defeat the leader, Skrub (c wut they did thar), is to send out his level 50 Pikachu against his level 38 Hitmontop. This would probably work if not for the fact that all he has Pikachu use is Quick Attack. How did this guy become a grand Pokemon trainer again? He loses swiftly and then Wes takes him on. Only notable thing is that Hitmontop could be caught, and I succeeded in that after three Poke Balls. Catch rates seem awfully low in this, I rarely ever succeed first try even with paralysis.

After all that, I can finally purify Shadow Pokemon. Makuhita, Bayleef, Noctowl, Flaaffy, and Furret all get purified instantly. Then I went back to Pyrite Town (the place with Miror B) to battle some trainers.

Quick explanation of purification. There's five purple bars for each Pokemon, and they get no experience at this time. Once all five bars are white, you can go to Agate Village to purify them. The purple bars can be reduced in a variety of ways. The ones most commonly used are walking and battling. Walking reduces it a little bit over time (usually not worth it unless you're very close to being done). Sending out the Shadow Pokemon causes a bit to be lost. There is also a chance that a Shadow Pokemon will enter Hyper Mode. By using the command 'Call' when that happens, a big chunk is lost. It's as tedious as it sounds, especially since Hyper Mode only happens frequently at a high bar. On the bright side, when you purify the Pokemon, they get all the experience that they earned in shadow form.

So yeah, I got Misdreavus and Slugma purified as well. In the process, Flaaffy became Ampharos and Bayleef became Meganium. Though I now have Mantine and Meditite in my party for purification, I'm not going to devote much more time to it right now.

The story demands I go to Mt. Battle next, because apparently more villainous villains are attacking, oh noes. Before that, I took the time to stop by the Phenac Colosseum and beat it. Nothing special there.

What I do want to whine about is Justy, the leader of the pre-gym. He won't fight you until you have six Pokemon, and for good reason. He has six Pokemon and every single one of them spams Double Team. Double Team is one of the most annoying and cheap moves in Pokemon. It raises evasion, and with my luck, that means I will never hit. Add onto the fact that he has a Gligar and Sandshrew that use Sandstorm (activating their ability, Sand Veil, which means you only have a 75% chance to hit them before Double Team kicks in) and you're in for a whole lot of stupidity. Mantine missed Bubblebeam around five times before finally KOing Gligar. It didn't help that all of Justy's Pokemon were at least level 40. Espeon and Umbreon are around 39 while everything else is 33, to give an idea of how retarded that is. Only reason I won is because I gave Umbreon Faint Attack earlier, which is an attack that will never miss. That move was a life saver. Moral of story: whoever decided Justy's strategy was a good idea should be kicked in the head.

Next time, I'll hit Mt. Battle.

No, it doesn't.

It really, really doesn't. <_<

It's as tedious as it sounds, especially since Hyper Mode only happens frequently at a high bar.

It gets worse. Pokemon like Furret and Bayleef purify pretty much instantly compared to late game and/or legendary Pokemon. Those ones have so much bad purple it's just... horrible.

On the bright side, IIRC, later on you can buy items that just remove a chunk of bad purple with each use. And, again IIRC, there are a handful of items that purify a Pokemon instantly. (You should hang on to at least one of those, by the way.)

Speaking of which, for 100% completion, you WILL have to purify every Pokemon in the game.

Oh, and if you haven't figured it out yet, every shadow Pokemon will reappear at some point later if you KO it accidentally. None are permanently missable. This is nice for Pokemon with terrible catch rates, because once you get your Master Ball, you can just reuse it infinitely if you abuse a glitch.

Which I did, because it just made everything so much easier. <_<

Actually, having watched several Pokemon Battle Revolution videos with double teams, I really like how many strategies can be pulled off with them. Not so much here but it makes me be a bit more favorable.

This is easily one of the best parts of the game for me. Miror B's theme and Pyrite Town's BGM are my personal favorites.

I'm particular to the casual battle music (like with guys who aren't serious about battling such as Willie) and the music that plays in the semi-finals of the Colosseum. The ones you mentioned are good too.

I'm pretty sure it's like this just to be a bastard.

It sure seems that way so far. At least I don't care about using it or I'd be annoyed.

Oh god, that NPC. Whyyyyyyyyyy

The Japanese like to mess with our heads.

[Spoiler for Pokemon Colosseum: Up to Dakim's First Battle, click to show]I went to Mt. Battle and took out nine trainers hanging around. Most were fond of Ground types. I like how almost every one's dialogue was basically, "The first guys were losers, I'm the real deal!" *Loses* "Well the next guy will get you!" Also, is it just me or is basically every generic named something incredibly retarded? In most Pokemon games you at least get names like Will and Maria, with a couple of unusual ones like Wyatt and Axel. In this game there's stupid stuff like Nover and Liqui and Leba (and of course Skrub). I'm surprised so many of them are willing to go around announcing themselves with names like that.

After purifying Mantine, I got ready to face Dakim. This is where I got grounded my first playthrough. After fighting this guy, I decided to quit and do a better playthrough later since I knew the mechanics by that point. What's so bad about him? Let's make a list.

1. He likes to use Protect with one Pokemon and Earthquake with another. That is a really painful combination.
2. He has five Pokemon that are all close to level 40. That's pretty high at this point.
3. His fifth Pokemon is a Shadow Entei. Yeah, Entei, one of the three legendary dogs, is already showing up. Fire Blast can be devastating to just survive, let alone capturing it.

So I took precautions this time. On the way to him, I got Mantine ready to purify and added Misdreavus to the party. Mantine is part Flying, thus Earthquake would not hit it, and Misdreavus has Levitate, also making it immune. Add in Meganium, who resists it, and half my team's in good shape. Ampharos is the only one really weak to it, so I'd have to pray he wasn't needed until Entei popped up. Espeon also has Reflect, which would lower the damage taken from Earthquake if really necessary.

Dakim started with Metang and Golem. I led with Misdreavus and Meganium. To my surprise, he did not try to protect with anyone. This let me hit Metang with Shadow Ball to hurt it, while Razor Leaf knocked out Golem in one hit. He sent out Marshtomp to replace Golem. Two Razor Leafs beat it, and two Shadow Balls finished Metang. That left Camerupt and Entei.

Due to not wanting to switch into something that would take a big blow, I had to sacrifice Meganium and Misdreavus to Flamethrower and Fire Blast. Ampharos and Mantine took the stage. One Bubblebeam knocked out Camerupt (x4 weakness for the win) and another took Entei to nearly half health. Ampharos used Thunder Wave to paralyze Entei. Ampharos bit the dust shortly after, leaving Umbreon to come in and use Confuse Ray. A couple of turns later, Mantine had fallen and Entei had hurt himself enough to get near the red. I had Espeon set up a Reflect to keep Umbreon and Espeon alive, as they were my last two. Without it, Bite would have killed Espeon. Not sure how Umbreon would have fared on his own.

Remember how I said Entei has an awful catch rate? I wasted a Poke Ball while he was in yellow due to not wanting to attack. But when he hit red and was paralyzed, I started throwing Ultra Balls. At this point of the game, I had found five total in chests and could not buy any. The first four shook once each before letting Entei out. The fifth caught him. Needless to say, I was very pleased.

Dakim ran off since apparently he couldn't punch me like he did the other guy he was threatening. The leader of Mt. Battle gave me a Time Flute, which apparently calls Celebi to instantly purify one Pokemon. I'm considering using it on Entei or saving it. Hard call at this point.

Apparently my next trip will be to a mysterious lab in the desert. I spent some time purifying Meditite and Quagsire. Yanma's getting pretty close. It helped that all the trainers in Pyrite Town had stronger Pokemon. I also found that Ultra Balls could finally be bought, so I got fifteen of those to start with.

Here are my stats right now...

Name WES
Play Time 10:42
Snagged POKEMON 19
Purified POKEMON 10

Not too bad for a first day. From now on everything will be new to me so that's nice.

Here's my best guess: Colosseum takes place in Arizona, as opposed to the normal Pokemon games, which take place in Japan. For the main games, the NPCs get normal Japanese names, which get translated to normal English names. For Colosseum, the NPCs got "American" names to begin with, and were left untranslated and/or replaced with equally ridiculous names. This is what Japanese people think American names actually sound like.

See also: Death Note, with Americans named stuff like "Staek Kniife (sic)" and "Beyond Birthday".

Correction: Knick Staek

Though I could have sworn there was a Staek Kniife. Maybe there are two people named Staek? <_<

Other names: Frigde Copen, Bess Seklett, Arire Weekwood, Lian Zapack... I can go on.

You could just read the extra novel and you'd get a good amount of silly names. I never thought of Colosseum not taking place in Japan though. Hm.

Funny thing I forgot to mention: My poor Ampharos seems to be a magnet for criticals. Every time he's in a random fight to help my Shadow Pokemon, he gets criticalled somehow. Rarely dies from it but it looks painful.

[Spoiler for Pokemon Colosseum: Up to Realgam Tower, click to show]I got a lot done today; in fact, I think I'm near the end of the main storyline.

First of all, I did a lot of purification. Finished Yanma first, and then did Qwilfish, Skiploom (evolved into Jumpluff when I was done), Hitmontop, Remoraid, Swablu, Sudowoodo, and Dunsparce. At this point, I had finished all but Entei, who I stuck into my team as a possibly permanent edition. If I want a Fire type, it's either him or Slugma, and Slugma has never been one of my favorites. I actually like Entei quite a bit despite his weird stats.

So I went to the mysterious lab only to find it was locked off. Back to Pyrite Town then, as Duking emailed me with a message. Apparently some thugs had been caught. I went into their jail cell and yoinked a key for an elevator. Said elevator was in Miror B.'s hideout, so I made my way there. All the trainers were ready to fight again with upgraded teams. There was even a replacement for Miror B. who was sad he couldn't grow an afro. I think he's the most sympathetic villain in this game so far. Anyhow, I refought everyone at least once, hence why so many guys got purified. I was down to Sudowoodo, Dunsparce, and Entei when I finally went on the elevator.

The elevator led me to The Under. A TV showed a completely ridiculous-looking woman named Venus who said spies had infiltrated The Under. Well, that was quick! It was quite fortunate that most NPCs thought I looked too weak to be a spy. I fought a guy with a Magikarp, Feebas, and Wailord (lolwut) to finish up Sudowoodo and Dunsparce. Then some kid gave me a part to give to other kids who told me they were hacking Cipher systems. It's kind of sad that these kids are the most competent NPCs I've met so far.

I went back to find that Silva had tried getting into The Under, only to be caught and thrown in their version of a jail cell. That's two for two capture attempts, how long until they just start calling him damsel in distress? He did give me a disc to move around a UFO though, after I beat down the guards and caught a Shadow Ledian (ugh). Yes, you get around this place by a UFO platform. It's pretty funny. A disc that Dakim dropped let me get to the Colosseum and herb shop, while the one Silva stole took me to the TV station that Venus gets filmed at. Cue fight with Venus.

It's odd. I'd say Venus is a lot easier than Dakim, but I knew what to expect with Dakim so I came out with two Pokemon still up. Venus left me with just Ampharos. Her main strategy was to use Attract to paralyze my all-male team (besides Entei who is genderless) and then have Steelix Earthquake us. I eventually got through her first three (including an incredibly annoying Vileplume) to be left with Steelix and Shadow Suicune. I took down Steelix quickly and whittled Suicune into red health while using Thunder Wave. Three Ultra Balls later, I got it. Was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Venus ran off like a pansy, and I went back to heal and put Suicune in my party for purification.

Following Venus resulted in a lot of her goons trying to stop me. They all had a Shadow Pokemon; I wound up catching Gligar, Stantler, Piloswine, and Sneasel from them. Sneasel took a couple of tries due to killing it accidentally but otherwise it wasn't difficult. Then Venus entered a train. I went to open a treasure chest first and got BlackGlasses. Since they power up Dark moves, Umbreon got them instantly.

After entering the train to look for Venus, I found she had left. Okay, so I leave too. She is standing outside, basically says "LOL I have the train key and you'll never get it!" and runs off. I follow her and find the key lying on the ground. Was everyone in this group dropped on their head as a child?

We take the train to the lab and find two Cipher guys. They realize who we are and run through a door. I start to follow them into the lab when HOLY HECK EXPLOSION. I walk in to find that they have literally blown a huge crevice into the building floor to prevent me from getting over. One of them remarks it might be overkill but I was fairly impressed. That was a good way to stop me. Unfortuantely, they turn out to be idiots too because they left the main lab door's key on my side. *Slow clap*

So I go back to the lab and find it to be pretty quiet. Until SUDDENLY NINJAS FROM THE CEILING. Fighting various Cipher members results in me getting Aipom, Murkrow, Forretress, Ariados, Granbull, and Vibrava. I went from having almost nobody to purify to having a bunch.

[Spoiler for Pokemon Colosseum: Up to Realgam Tower, click to show]Allow me to note something. That Murkrow was the stupidest thing I have had to capture yet. Twice I threw ten Poke Balls at it while it was in red health and paralyzed. Twice it wound up killing itself after breaking free every time. Third try, Umbreon criticalled it by accident. Fourth try, I catch it on my ninth Poke Ball. I cannot stress how incredibly retarded this entire scenario was. That Murkrow is going to sit in my box for a good long time before I purify it.

While going through the lab, I picked up three DNA Samples while fighting scientists. They like to carry Electric types. I can't even begin to guess how many times my Meganium got paralyzed. Ampharos oddly was not, but was still subject to criticals. What a pair.

Eventually I ran into a scientist who, upon losing, said, "I won't let you get away!" Allow me to insert dialogue:

Me: What exactly CAN you do to stop me?
Scientist: *Presses button, red light flashes and alarm goes off*
Me: Oh. Wow, he actually is doing something.
Scientist: Hahahaha now you will never escape the Lab!
Me: Oh shoot I need to heal. Did he stop the elevator from working? *Uses it* ...Okay, did he seal the front door? *Walks through it* ...Can I actually leave this area? *Goes outside and to another town* WHY ARE ALL OF THESE VILLAINS SO STUPID.

So after that nonsense I fight Skrub again. He loses so quickly I remember nothing about it. Then I meet Ein, who is the head scientist behind the Shadow Pokemon. He takes the cake for being the dumbest villain when he says, "What? How did you sneak up on me?!" How did he NOT notice the blaring alarm and red flashing lights? Is he deaf, blind, and brain dead?

His strategy is to activate Rain Dance and then spam Thunder, which cannot miss in the rain. I used Meganium and Ampharos for most of it since they resist Electric type moves. Then out came Shadow Raikou, the last of the three dogs. Same strategy as usual: get it down to red health, paralyze with Ampharos, throw Ultra Balls. I cut it awfully close this time. If it had used Shadow Rush, it would have died. (All Shadow Pokemon have the move Shadow Rush, which does recoil damage. It can be very, very annoying to prevent them from killing themselves.) I also only had Ampharos left. But four Ultra Balls was all it took. WHY was Murkrow harder to catch than all three legendary dogs combined? Seriously now.

After he ran off, I went back to The Under to give the hacker kids a data disc he had left behind. I also found that they had freed Silva, which was nice because I never found a key for him. I also heard rumors of a Colosseum being on top of that tower that was being built a while ago. So that was my next destination.

Realgam Tower looks shiny. Why did they make Sudowoodo statues of all Pokemon? Two men in suits said I was expected. Oh boy. I go to the right hall and find... Dakim. What. I leave without him actually saying anything, which is pretty funny story-wise. Since it was a Colosseum, I assumed there had to be a place to save and heal nearby, so I wanted to find that first. I found it next to an old man. Who turned into a thug when I turned my back. Now if only he had actually taken advantage of my back being turned, he would be competent. But he didn't and he lost horribly. So I saved there and went back.

Dakim had a pretty good team this time around. Whishcash and Claydol is a nasty combination since Claydol has Levitate. After that came Flygon, Forretress, and Houndoom. I think I only had Ampharos and Umbreon left by the end, it was pretty painful. Nevertheless, he went down again and I got an ID card.

After healing, I went to the left and found Miror B, this time without his theme. Boo. He started with Ludicolo and Golduck. That Golduck was strong with Surf in a Rain Dance, it proved to be the most troublesome. Once it went down, I tore through his other Ludicolo, Loudred, and Armaldo. Thank goodness these guys don't have new Shadow Pokemon or else that would have been annoying. I had to stop after him.

Oh, I also found a second Time Flute by using a third disc on the UFO. Saving both for now.

Before I head out for the night, I'd like to note to CG that I just got the Gold Print for Battle Hall using

Garchomp @ Choice Band
252 ATK/252 Speed/4 HP - Jolly
-Outrage
-Earthquake
-Fire Blast
-Stone Edge

that Blair gave me.

*laughs at CG*. That guy you linked me to was right though, your best chance to defeat Weavile is to use Swagger, and against Sharpedo too unless he misses Ice Fang.

Or pray for burn.

Battle Factory next. I hate the Frontier.

It's pretty sad that these Frontier challenges are so difficult that people have to resort to using ubers to beat them.

Not that I don't support it. If I could figure out a way to get Kyogre or Mewtwo into them, I'd do it. <_<

Sharpedo? I never ran into that. But yeah Epy, you suck. So much. >_> (For those who don't know, I've been trying to beat Hall with Garchomp for a while and always get screwed over by random stupidity.)

[Spoiler for Pokemon Colosseum: Up to Realgam Tower, click to show]Since I got home late from college, I only got to play for a little bit. Did make some progress though.

Two Cipher lackeys were blocking the way, so I beat up both of them. The first one had a Shadow Delibird and the second had a Shadow Sunflora. I wish they'd give out some first generation Pokemon, or even better, Johto ones that didn't suck. Give me a Houndoom or a Xatu or a Scizor... heck, I'd even be happy for a Xatu, they're pretty cool. I don't want these stupid Ledian/Aipom/Delibird/Sunflora pieces of garbage.

After snagging those, I found Ein waiting. He proved to be annoying this time due to deciding it would be fun to use Toxic. Apparently he even Toxic stalls since he tried using Protect once. He also likes Rain Dance to power up his Water type moves and have Thunder always hit, like his first battle. He used Rhydon, Pelipper, Manetric, Starmie, and Crobat. I ended with a poisoned Espeon, a poisoned Meganium in the red, and an Ampharos with good health. How does my Ampharos always wind up surviving these battles? Note that his Pokemon were around level 50 while my highest ones are 45, so apparently I'm getting into serious business territory. He gave me a yellow card key before he left, which means I only need a blue one IIRC, as I saw a door with four slots on the way to Ein. Three guesses at who has the final-Venus.

After that, Eagun (Rui's grandfather) sent me an email that cut off at the end. Oh those silly grandparents trying to use technological devices. I went to talk to him and he gave me a Master Ball, which is always cause for celebration. Not sure what I'll use it on yet.

Saved and quit after that. My stats...

I used Specs Latios for the Tower, too, so yeah ubers are just amazing for frontier.

Sharpedo? I never ran into that. But yeah Epy, you suck. So much. >_> (For those who don't know, I've been trying to beat Hall with Garchomp for a while and always get screwed over by random stupidity.)

Due to Rough Skin + Ice Fang he'll slaughter Garchomp without Focus Sash + Swagger (same with Weavile) or burning him.

I also nearly was killed by Poliwrath in the Fighting tier, what a load of ass.

So a good order for tiers would be Ice, Dark, Water, Psychic, Normal, Fighting, Grass, Ghost, Poison, Flying, Dragon, Ground, Rock, Steel, Bug, Fire, and Electric in that order. Psychic pretty early because Wobbuffet at higher levels will slaughter you. Also Fire Blast is most definitely better than Fire Fang, it lets you kill Meganium/Scizor/Forretress without fear of Counter killing you, along with Skarmory.

Good update as usual, if short.

Pro tips. I have Swords Dance rather than any fire moves on my Garchomp, and it's more useful... in any place but Hall. I'll have to look at my TMs and decide whether to ditch Swords Dance, give him Fire Blast for a while, and then switch back to Swords Dance, or just make a separate Garchomp for Hall. Hm.

How the heck did Poliwrath nearly kill you? >_>

Also I just realized I typed Xatu twice. My second one was supposed to be Girafarig. I have a liking for it despite it being a one-stage Pokemon. Azumarill and Donphan would also be pro choices.
