It was surprising, but it is the natural progression of things.
I mean, Warner Bros. [Time Warner] originally viewed as Disney's chief rival, has DC, so it makes sense for Disney to have Marvel.

I tried to add a link to the first post but I was apparently unsuccessful in that endeavor.

Anyway, although this obviously eliminates a few licensing fees, I wouldn't read too much into it. The goal of the merger is basically to open the Disney company to new markets without risking capital trying to rebrand or create new products.
