| Level: 44 DSB Moderator | Or stupid me. I prefer to think it's the computer that's stupid. So I turn it on this afternoon for the first time today and the fan on the video card and the fan in the back of the machine start going full blast non stop. I go online to check stuff out, find nothing that helps me. Most of the things I find are for Apple computers with this problem, but I follow the directions anyways, looking at the resource monitor which shows that nothing is runing in the back ground and I'm using a fraction of the memory (which surprised me since I still run Vista). So I download the new driver for the video card, hoping that was the problem. I do three reboots in fifteen minutes, I open up the machine to see if there's a dust problem or if anything isn't hooked up right, which somehow breaks my headphones, or at least the USB connector for them (second time that's happened with this particular kind of headphones). Normally I'd just wear some earplugs or something and live with it until it dies, but it's making this room very cold since the machine produces no heat and is just blowing cold air. I've tried kicking it and that doesn't work, so my way of dealing with problems has reached a head. I know that further violence will probably break it, so... any ideas? --- "Critics of lemmings tend to overlook how awesome it is to run off of tall things." |

| Level: 37 Advanced | Try a hammer, I have found machines like that tend to work quite well when the threat of a hammer is applied. Or atleast it always worked for me when I was working for a convince store an my registrar fuckin acted up. Whatever you do don't pull a scorp an shoot the damn thing like he did his x-box 1 time. --- I like my women like I like my chicken with just a little bit of fat on the end. | Level: 44 DSB Moderator | Eh, this is the second time in a year this thing has had this problem. The first time, the video card died. I'm hoping that's not the case since I like this vidoe card... but if it, I'll just get a new computer. With a better OS... --- "Critics of lemmings tend to overlook how awesome it is to run off of tall things." |
