I came in expecting Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Hey I was right.

After Lady in the Water and The Happening, it would take a miracle to make me watch anything he puts out.

lol

Ever single one of his movies have been pretty bad.
The only one that was tolerable was Unbreakable. Which was still pretty bad, because it moved at the speed of a dead snail.

I thought The Sixth Sense was good. Haven't seen Unbreakable yet though.

I thought Sixth Sense was pretty good the first time I saw it.
I saw it again about 2 years ago and it was like wtf this is terrible. >_>

[Spoiler for Why bother? Who HASN'T seen this movie?, click to show]The entire movie just didn't make sense considering the guy was DEAD. How the fuck did he not figure it out from the START? Who the fuck gave him the case to help the kid?
That was also my major gripe seeing it again.

Eh, he goes for stupid plot twists near the end that can usually be seen coming a mile away (Like, before you step foot in the theater). However, I don't think I've ever seen a full episode of Avatar before, and from the ads it looks more like a Michael Bay movie than anything he's done. And the fan responses only reinforce that... Michael Bay has a habit of skipping through plot to get to the action, which then turns out to be completely anticlimactic. M. Night is also bad with plots, but this time he was using an already established story. You're never going to make everyone happy when doing a live action movie of a cartoon show, but he hasn't made anyone happy with it. Go see Twilight.

Or in the case of The Happening, the plot twist is right there in the beginning.

My Mom, for some reason -reasons that I suspect my Mother actually hates me- gave me The Happening for Christmas last year >_>
I watched it for Shits N Giggles, and god dammit. I got through about 25 minutes of it (Surprised I lasted that long) before I said fuck it and ripped that disk from my 360 and shelved it. (Right after apologizing to my 360 for sticking that crap into it :( )

Michael Bay and M. Night Shyamalan's works can't really be compared, even with the smashfest that Airbender purports to be. Bay's films have good special effects, you see, even if they lack in everything else. Airbender doesn't even have that.

Shyamalan's last few movies have been terrible from a performance and storytelling perspective, but with the exception of The Sixth Sense, which I haven't actually seen, all of his stuff has been fairly lackluster. Airbender surpasses those by being universally abysmal. It's like nobody who worked on it knew what they were doing and/or cared about the result. From what I've read, it doesn't suffer so much from Shyamalan's creative faults - abusing common sense and warping his plot to generate surprise endings, for instance - as it does from a crippling amateurism.

The funny thing is, he claims to be an Avatar fan. Yet, somehow he completely fucked it up. >_>

He only claims to have seen the first season or part thereof with his kids. Which explains why he apparently butchered some names.

I would suggest waiting for a cam/telesync if you really want to see it. If you want to go to the theater specifically, then I would suggest seeing something else.
