| Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | The failed TFN "spinoff". (Failure by TFN's standards is pretty rough.) It's now pretty humorous. ___ ~ Ogordemir ~ "The sciences have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age." ~ H.P Lovecraft, The Call of Cthulhu |

| Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | It's even more humorous if you look in the Web Archive. Here's a timeline of the life of divinethought.com, to the extent that it was cached: Early Life For an extended period in 2002-2003, there are links to archives that don't exist. Adolescence Like many teenagers, divinethought went through a "goth" phase in 2003. Young Adulthood Finally, in 2004, the site begins to find its way in the world. There's a larger story here: if you go to the TFN link up top, you get to see how the website tried to leave the nest and find its way in the world in more glory. Note how productive the parent is: Network Announcements topics from Epsilon? with 16 comments? Astounding. There are more things to note - for instance, the fiction section is labeled "FanFiction/Novels" and quite a bit of the site is available, not to mention there were ads and the old man was still turning out some income back then - but the spotlight is really on the young buck, divinethought, with its posts from Puppet Admin xp and glorious 16-comment posts on its very own "News/Blog Thing". Impressive. Adulthood Four days later, there's an archive where you can see just how fleshed out the site has become. There's even a chat! Not only am I not the owner anymore (the honor goes to ns), I'm going by the name Silvas now. And what's this? 20 posts? Truly spectacular. Even though it's still fighting its way up the "corporate ladder", it's clear this site has a beautiful and productive future ahead of it. Senility Three months later, the website catches sudden-onset boneitis and is left forever crippled. Note the pitious despair as the website lashes out at Kenri, once a glorious partner; observe the longing as the child perceives the death of its parent, that poor old TFN. And though there's no set plan for a cure in sight, there's something to be said about the patient's optimism: we'll be back in December, indeed. Death In 2005, all that remains of the once great divinethought is the PHP info page. Memorial In its place now lies naught but a prayer. Vaya con Dios, child. Vaya con Dios. I assume whoever bought the domain in the hope of reselling it doesn't see the quality irony in its Wiccan heritage. divinethought.com actually cost me like $30 because when I cancelled the domain it didn't cancel the renewal subscription or something to that effect, and I got hammered, but less so than I would have if the particular bank account I had assigned the subscription had any more money in it. The Web Archive also has lots of cool stuff on thefluxnet.com, including some periods I don't remember because I was perioding. Unfortunately nothing is archived from 2003 and I don't remember the host/address/anything about the original form of the site, which was stunningly amateurish because, if you can believe it, I sucked even more at web design at some point in the past.

| Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | You should remember, you were quite the rebel: THERE WILL BE A MERGER COMBINATION OF SITES Yup. The results of the poll were just not good enough, IMO. Tragic, Cross, Omega Sonic, xp1337, Kenri of the Yuri, mAsTa AsIa Now, Cross and xp have decided to give it a shot. (I think xp. =/). MS doesn't post at all. So that leaves Tragic, Ken, and MA. Sorry, I hope you do join us. People voting NO: NegativeReno, Cait Sith, Grand Lethal, Scorpion 316, Bumppo. Cait Sith and Grand Lethal are from Gensou. Throw their votes out. Reno has said that he'd try it. Scorp has advocated willingness to try if the layout thinger works. Bumppo is just cool. So... in conclusion. Three people said they'd leave definitely... there are about 5 TRUE doubters, and the rest (about 16 avid posters) are willing to go through with the change. So... 16/8... 2:1 ratio. =/ ~~~ No, I don't own the Flux. Gensou, the last great hope.

| Level: 43 Editor | ...Yeah saying I was against a merger doesn't really narrow it down. <_< I remember, for instance, this: We have a spellcheck... Though neither Silvas nor I know how. Maybe I uploaded the post file when it was older? Anyways, it works. >_> ...Because that was hilarious. But I don't remember divinethought at all. *shrug* Edit: Never mind, now it's coming back to me... Vaguely. <_< --- "There's a pony in the shop, but don't buy it. | Level: 41 New Moderator | ...Yeah saying I was against a merger doesn't really narrow it down. <_< Hm, good point. I don't really remember the origin of divinethought. The Gensou folks had something to do with it maybe. I do remember, especially because I still have some of the code, that it was the first (and only?) object-oriented GameFAQs spinoff. I also don't really remember why or how it failed; I don't think I was really all that hands-on during that period. NINJA ASIDE: It's also kind of interesting to note that, of our three affiliates (The Risen Realm, CCG Nation, and junkieznat) we're apparently the only ones to survive. Success? ___ ~ Ogordemir ~ When I feel like being awesome in another way. |

| Level: 49 Liberal Arts Major | Technically we were gone for like two years so I would say "a renewed sense of purpose".
