Liberal Arts Major
Originally, I was going for a project in medical device construction for pancreatic cancer in a chemistry lab but the fuckers didn't have money to support me and just kinda faded away. Which is funny since every lab I went to kept saying how awesome they were than the other labs b/c of their godly funding.
The guy that I got an offer from I randomly met through a med school friend who needed some electronics help. Coincidentally he works with the company I (also randomly - I found it on craigslist) worked part-time for last summer doing electron emission modelling. So I basically know everyone that works there and all the shit they're doing. AND they have a shitton of funding.
Along with that, I just got an email from a prof I sort of know who wants me to join his medical instrumentation lab. It's mainly imaging and therapeutics focusing on new device designs. Dunno about his funding.
tl;dr: Randomly got BME grad school lab position in physics lab. Lots of monies. Not exactly what I wanted to do in grad school. I know more about this stuff than any incoming grad student and most 3rd and 4th year grad students. Another lab; medical instrumentation; closer to what I wanted to do but they do imaging and imagining is kinda gay but I might get a cool project; prob has monies, still need to discuss this
Btw, phys dept pays 6K more than BME <_< (16K vs 22K for 9 months). My old electronics prof told me he'd let me TA his class if I don't get an RA (which I better get)
Anyway, input? Also, what are your guys' future college/grad school plans and/or current endeavors?

You know my plan A: linguistics PhD. What's unfortunate about that is I'm a year away from grad school, have done no independent research, and have no idea what fields I would actually want to do research in, unless "anything but phonology" counts as a field. But it's linguistics, I can figure all that out halfway through my PhD candidacy.
Plan B is to become a teacher. Seriously.

But I don't see any need to talk about it with the fine folks here at TFN, no offense. For one thing, it's not exactly something I enjoy talking about. For another, it's sort of in the territory of "personal shit you guys don't need to know about me". For a third, I don't expect to get any practical benefit out of posting about it here.
