Wow. This goes to prove that this generation really is self-entitled.

Spoiled little brats,is what the upcoming generation is 99% of them want everything handed to them and I DO MEAN EVERYTHING from the latest eletronic toy to answers to test's in school. My mother is a 4th grade teacher and she says she doesn't see how these kids manged to make it to 4th grade. But we know how because the previous teachers didn't care or cartered to the kids an there parents an gave the "poor lil babies" the answers.

Here's a comment on that article:

I think the letter was tongue-in-cheek and the home owner ought to get a sense of humour. After all, with no treats, they could have soaped his windows, put his garden gate on the roof, and any other time-worn 'tricks'. He said he didn't know his neighbourhood. Whose fault is that? And trick or treating extends well beyond particular neighbourhoods. Suck it up, sweetie and get used to being a grown up and on the giving end rather than receiving. If you don't want to give out candy, think of something else the kids might like. Get to know them, and enjoy your new neighbours. You're off to a bad start.....And you can always leave a note to come by the next night if you're out (in costume, of course!)

Our generation sucks just as bad as the new generation, folks.

...No. o.o

I thought Trick or Treat meant you were ASKING for a trick or treat. As in, you're asking for candy, or the person to perform a magic trick (As an example) as a reward.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised to learn I was lied to again when I was a child.

The letter was a joke. He over reacted. People take stuff too seriously. When I was little I would egg houses of people I didn't like, I wasn't concerned about candy. TP, egging, soaping windows, trampling gardens, unhinging fences, knocking over mail boxes are all time honored traditions of the "Trick" part of the holiday. Leaving a note as a joke written by the parents of the kids is... hell, you could just toss that and forget about it. Cleaning up a TP mess, especially if it had rained the night before, that takes time and gets you really angry.

At the same time, he's right about the entitlement that kids feel about holidays and in general. But it's not just this generation. It's been like this for decades.
