I know we have another topic on Xenoblade, or even two if we count Kenri's topic, but that's not enough.

Much to my chagrin after being a skeptic in the face of Xenoblade's hype simply because I had a hard time believing anything with that level of hype could actually meet it, this really is one of the best games in years. Top 5 of all time pretty easily, IMO. And really, everything I'd take over it isn't standalone, being part of a trilogy in one way or another, while Xenoblade doesn't need that. It somehow manages to pretty much successfully combine the best elements of JRPGs, WRPGs, and even MMORPGs to an extent. With the sheer ambition this game shoots for, I'd have thought it was doomed to failure, but somehow, against the odds, it succeeds.

Unless you just downright hate RPGs, Xenoblade is just so completely worth playing that you really should play it if you can. The setting is great, the gameplay is excellent, and the music is excellent as well.

I just finished the main plot up earlier but I'm going to go back and try and tackle some of the endgame/high-level sidequests (I just decided to go for the endgame so I could face the final part of the game at a level that wouldn't make everything trivial because battles in this game are just so fun.)

It does sound interesting - the "Heart-to-Heart" thing as well as the sidequests make it seem like it should be fairly immersive - but it's also a game for a platform I don't presently own. (It's only a Wii game, right?)

My niece, on the other hand, has a Wii. Do you think a 9 year-old girl would like and/or appreciate it?

Yeah, it's a Wii exclusive.

As for your other question... probably not. But who can say!

At 9 years old.. that might be a bit young.

But then perhaps in a couple of years she'll pick it up and really appreciate how great it is!

Great game. More people need to buy and play it.

It is a good game, which is especially impressive because, like xp said, it's insanely ambitious and still almost entirely successful.

I do feel like it's generally at its best when you're just screwing around in the massive world and that it takes a step down whenever you deal with the main plot, though. But I'm only like 25 hours in and the game is 100+ hours long, so take that with a grain of salt.

I'd actually say that the party itself may be among the weaker characters in the game. As for the story, it takes a while to really get going.

If you have a decent computer, you can emulate it with few issues.

And if you have a great computer, you can use the emulator to make it look even more fantastic with upscaling and anti-aliasing.
