So it all started exactly 1 week after my 37th b-day(yes I'm a old fart an my b-day fell on Easter this year) the transmission in my truck went out on our way to our usual sunday dinner with my sister n bro-in-law. So after limping it in 1st gear the last 10 miles to there house. Bro-in-law loans me his truck to use and suggest's a transmission shop he'd used bout 25 years ago that was still in business.

So after getting it towed to the transmission shop which happened to be all the way out in the fucking boondocks of twiggs county. I leave it there as it's after closing time call the next day give them the details n the go head to fix it. They call me 2 days later saying it's fixed. Bro-in-law go pick it up pay them the 1800 dollars required for repair. Leave get 10 miles down the road and it starts acting up limp it back to them they put it on the mobile digonstic puter take it for a test drive they say it seems to work fine but to leave it over night.

Bro-in-law picks up the next day manages to make it bout 10 miles from my house before the transmission drops outta gear. He manages to limp it just past the stoplight calls me. I go meet him call triple A AGAIN(2nd tow in a weeks time an I only get 4 free tow's a year) he takes me on home n drops me off lil bit later tow truck shows up with the truck to drop off. As neither one of us could get hold the transmission shop.

Well later that night is when things really went to hell in a handbasket. Bro-in-law calls about 9pm at first I thought he was calling to talk bout the truck situation more. Nope 1st words outta his mouth are Jennifer's been in a motorcycle accident and is being rushed to the Macon Medical er Trauma unit. My sister was rear ended on her bike after it'd choked out on her as she was leaving the restaurant parking lot. She was thrown from her bike she bounced off the passenger side of the car hood n went bout 100 ft. Upon impact with the car her helmet flexed inward(which not suppose to do) allowing her chin strap to drop loose allowing the helmet to pop off her head. She sustained multiple skull fractures a fractured scapula n fractured pelvis.

She was in both a reg coma n medically induced coma for 2 weeks they had put a bolt meter in her skull to monitor the brain pressure. At one point the pressure in her brain reached over 50 which was not good she suffered a few mini strokes during that time. The first 3 days it was debatable if she was going to make it but then she slowly started to show brain activey. Eventually her brain pressure drooped down to single digits and held steady in single digits for a day so they removed the bolt meter.

Around that time she started showing signs of waking up. Eventually she did wake up an eventually they removed the ventilator tube n feeding tube from her mouth and ran a trachea tube and g button feeding tube. After being in a neuro icu for 4 weeks they moved her to a regular private room a week before that they did pelvic surgery on her and only had to put 2 screw's in to hold the pelvis in place. Well while she was in a regular room someone from the shepards center in Atlanta came down to evaluate if she'd be a good candidate for them to continue her healing as they are the best brain n spinal injury place in GA. They said she was and as soon as insurance agreeded they'd transfer her up there.

Well during those 3 weeks I more or less lived off fast food n junkfood and it caught up with me around the start of the 4th week. I myself had to go into my local er due to serious back an chest pain. Well they drew blood did a ct scan a ultra sound n x ray come to find out I had gallbladder stones. So they gave me a choice of antibotic's to get rid of them n surgery at a later date or surgery the next day to remove my gallbladder. I choose surgery. So next day I went under the knife or should say laser as they did laser surgery to remove it. Discharged the day after surgery.

So been recovering from that bear in mind I did before i had problems get my truck back home but it still wasn't correct so took it to another transmission shop they spotted the problem the shiftier cable had broken and the other shop jb welded it together with a putty of some type. They put new cable in shifted fine well a new problem popped up I couldn't turn my truck off fully sometimes in park unless i had the steering column in the right place Eventually after it doing that a couple times I just parked it best I could e brake on n disconnected battery. Well earlier this week took it to my normal mechanic after 2 days they manged to replace the column. Well they noticed that you had to jiggle the igntion switch to get it to start so replaced that. I get it back home an it still won't fully go into park. Take it back an 10 outta 10 times the mechanic can get it to shut off no problems 2 outta 5 times I can. So he says leave it with me n we'll spray some stuff in there see if that fix's it. So heres hoping come monday it's right.

Back to my sister she did eventually get up to sheppards center where she currently is n we (my mother n me) are going up to visit her tomorrow. She is making great progress she is sitting up by herself she is talking she is eating soft pureed foods. She answer's her phone an responds to txt's n fb msg's(except from me).

So to sum it up been a giant shit storm past 2 months.

I'm sorry about that Tengu. I hope your sister's recovery continues apace. And also that your truck works now.

Well my sister is at home been home since like june 27th. She is getting better but still needs help getting up an going to the bathroom. They removed the tracea tube about a week after she got home an it seems to be healing well.

As for my truck it's bout 50/50 still can't turn the ignition off fully unless after putting it in park i push the shiftier back and the transmission won't go down into granny gear an if it's been sitting in the hot sun the transmission jerks when shifting. Found out my reverse lights don't work so that's either the bulbs or switch or even connected to the transmission problem. Sadly I don't have 5-10 grand laying around to go buy me a new truck.
