The Christmas 2021, 2020, and 2019 THREADs are only a few spots below this one because this is basically the only thing anyone posts about outside of the DSB on this website. This, and the occasional announcement post!

From my parents, I received:

- Some earbuds (this is becoming an annual tradition)
- A headphone hanger because I've been living like a savage without one
- A seat cushion for my car, whose driver-side seat has a massive cut in it that I've been covering up with various padding devices for 10 years
- A portable space heater (for when I'm out in space)
- My favorite green tea

My wife gave me some sort of percussion face massager thing to treat the stress injury I've accumulated over the last two years of grinding my teeth as I sleep (and possibly while I'm awake). Whenever I eat something that requires a lot of chewing, my temples blow up like a pair of balloons. I don't know the extent to which this device can resolve that problem but my first impression is that my face feels less sore after percussing it a bit, so I'd say that's a good sign.

I don't know what I received from the rest of my family yet, but it's probably some sort of currency, clothing, and/or food.

Just food and some money.

I thought the title on the front page said "Merry Kalashnikov"

That wouldn't be very merry at all imo

Pokemon Violet

I'm torn between getting Violet because that's my favorite color (well, purple is) and the cover legendary is vastly superior; Scarlet because the new, extremely broken Misdreavus is in it, finally giving my girl justice after all these years; and not getting either because I probably wouldn't have time to play it to completion. I would probably need someone to gift it to me to resolve this dilemma.

This generation's new Pokemon are mostly lame, but at least there aren't any ice cream cone tier designs, and the starters are all pretty rad, which is a rare achievement these days. Kudos to Game Freak, sort of. They even found a way to cash in on the superhero hype!

but at least there aren't any ice cream cone tier designs,

Counterpoint: Fidough and Dachsbun, as well as the brambleweed pokemon.
All 4 I consider worse than the Vanillite line.

I give Fidough/Dachsbun a pass because they're cute, but I agree the concept is pretty cringy. The brambleweed one does suck ass though! I guess Vanillite stands out to me because it was a trailblazer for being shockingly bad at the time and now all the terrible follow-ups don't seem as bad compared to Vanillite setting the standard.

There are always at least one or two designs per generation that are just absolute cringe. But it's hard to argue with that assessment...
