The pandemic started in March 2020. My company went full Work From Home status (and thankkfully, has not mandated returning to the office) and so my days were full of computer touching from the comfort of my home, but now I was getting paid for it. Only a few months later, I started getting recommended subtitled clips of vtubers on Youtube, and the rest was history.

Vtubers are pretty good. I mostly watch Hololive now. I used to watch more Nijisanji, but they added so many English vtubers so quickly that it made it hard for me to keep up with them and I sort of fell off. They're a nice thing to keep on in the background while I sit in pointless meetings on Zoom.

Last Week while playing Vampire survivors, I was recommended a game on Steam called "Holocure - save the fans" where a bunch of Hololive avatars kill their fans. It was quite addictive. Go figure.

I still liked Vampire Survivors better, though. Can't get that Castlevania vibe out.

I don't generally watch streams much except for the latest news, but they are cool. Like how much effort goes into their avatars.

Holocure is pretty great for being completely free. There's some game mechanic reasons I like it more than Vampire Survivors, though I never really got hooked on any Survivor-like the way some people have.

And yeah, the tech behind how vtubing works is honestly pretty amazing. A lot of skill goes into making the avatar for a character, and rigging it takes as much if not more time as rigging a 3D character. They've gotten pretty advanced in just a couple of years.

I also gotta admit last month there was this one vtuber that made me laugh out loud hard where they just chucked penguins at her all day until she just gave up and had her avatar sink into the bottom of the twitch screen.

Then the audience drops an anvil on her. Complete with falling noises.

God speed vtubers.

Maybe someday I'll have people do that to me. x3
