ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
The Flux Network provides the services to you, the visitor, based on its Terms of Service outlined here. The latest TOS can always be found here at http://thefluxnet.org/boards/tos.php. When using the services provided by The Flux Network, you are subject to these posted terms. Usage of the services on this site denotes acceptance of these terms. The TOS may be changed at any time and without direct notice to individual visitors, so it is recommended that you check back with this page at any time you have questions or concerns.

The Flux Network does not directly control any content posted on the boards, and does not guarantee the truthfulness or quality of any content. You agree that while using The Flux Network message boards or site, you may be exposed to content that is offensive or objectionable, and that you will in no way hold The Flux Network nor its sponsors or affiliates liable in any way, shape, or form for any harm or loss that may come to you or others as a result of viewing this content. Furthermore, all content on The Flux Network is the property and copyright of The Flux Network and its contributors and may not be reproduced in any way without the written consent of the original contributor.

ACCOUNT RESPONSIBILITY
Users are solely responsible for protecting their accounts from access by others. You are strongly encouraged to select a hard-to-guess password and not re-use that password on any other sites where it may be read by the owners or administrators of that site.

While it is acceptable for users to maintain multiple accounts on The Flux Network, The Flux Network can and does track multiple shared accounts from a single or multiple computers as one account in terms of TOS violations. If the TOS is violated severely enough to warrant the banning of one account, all known accounts shared between a single or multiple users who use the same computer may also be banned for the actions of the violating account at the administrators' discretion.

Because of this rule, it is highly recommended that board users do not share their accounts with others, nor share their computers used to access the site with others, as the actions of some other person could easily directly impact all known shared message board accounts.

PRIVACY AND RELEASE OF INFORMATION
Under normal circumstances, The Flux Network will never release your provided information to any third party without a court order requiring us to do so. However, in cases of certain severe and/or repeated TOS violations or illegal activities, we reserve the right to forward any and all known information about you and your accounts to your ISP (including libraries, schools, and places of employment), email service provider, your ISP account owner (if someone else is actually paying for it), and any parties whose copyright has clearly been infringed by your actions on the boards.

MEMBER CONDUCT
You agree that you will not use this service to perform the following actions:

Offensive Posting
Cursing is allowed in posts, to an extent. Pretty much each one. As time goes on, if a group of people begins abusing swearing, certain words will be banned. Saying something like "Oh shit...", or "Fuck You" is fine. Saying "Go fuck yourself, you stupid son of a bitch", not so much. HOWEVER, racist, sexist, or derogatory comments based on race, sex, etc. will automatically be deleted, no questions asked, and SPI/Race Insults will be dealt with harshly in general (see below). Penalties will vary from a NEL to a Suspension. (Though in some cases moderators may opt to take no action at their discretion, as explained below.)

Disruptive Posting
Disruptive posting is defined for moderation purposes as doing things that stop the flow of activity. These include posts with mass bumping, multiple blank posts, multiple pointless topics (except on social), 'censor bypassing', or overuse of 1337 will be deleted. MARQUEES WILL NOT BE USED. THEY ARE ANNOYING AND WHOEVER ALLOWED THEIR USE IN GECKO BROWSERS NEEDS TO DIE A SLOW DEATH.

Spamming
Posting a link to a site that you think other people may find funny/helpful or whatever is fine. If you want to advertise your personal site, do it in your sig or on the web design board. Posting links to distasteful things like Tubgirl, Goatse, Rotten.com, or hate websites will be deleted, with Experience Loss. If the link you post has offensive material in it, warn all users via the topic title.

Excessive Flaming
Insulting other users beyond a certain level is not tolerated. As said before, the use of SPI/RI is grounds for harsh punishments. Some examples:

OK: I heard your mom's gonna get laid off, bitch!
VERY MUCH NOT OK: Your mom fucked six guys and a chick last night in a dumpster behind WalMart after fellating her boss to keep her job because she's such a fucking awful cashier her only redeeming quality is the fact that she also happens to be a shameless whore dyke. Furthermore, Jews suck.

Note that trolling (inciting flames) in a similar regard is prohibited. This also includes posting false information as fact. (Allowed in a humourous regard.) (This statement is false.)

Also note that insults need to be directed at a user/(the majority of users) to have an effect... Therefore, if I were to say, "OMG, you watch Naruto, so you're a loser," it's not OK. "IMO, anyone who watches Naruto's a loser," would be OK as long as it were not on the Naruto board. (Something we will hopefully never have.)

Illegal Activities
I'll just make a list of things prohibited. This list may be updated at any time. You cannot ask or provide any of the following:
  • Hacked passwords, cracking, DOS attacks, viruses, Trojan horses, or other unauthorized use of online services. (This includes cheating in ONLINE games.)
  • Impersonation of other users by creating and/or using a message board account with a name clearly intended to impersonate, mock, or antagonize another user, or otherwise falsely claiming to be another message board member. Note that saying "I am USER 7." when you are really not, goes under Trolling, which is under Flaming.
  • Alternate Accounts. Moderators and above may have an alternate account for use on public computers. Just one though.
  • Bugs and Exploits. Using exploits or tricks in this site's code to gain privileges, access, or abilities not clearly intended by the board design is prohibited. While you are more than welcome to try and find any exploits away from the public eye, making them public, sharing them with other users, or using them for personal benefit is considered a severe violation. Notes: If you find a bug or exploit, contact an administrator or report it via e-mail; doing anything different is going to cause problems.
  • Robots and Automated Programs. Board users are not allowed to run a robot or other any other automated browsing or posting programs on any message board server at any time.
Shrines Scamming
Scamming Shrines from either the system of other users is not allowed, and will result in loss of equivalent Shrines or purchased items. These include transferring Shrines to yourself - which you should not do because Alts are banned, failing to deliver a negotiated service or item to a user after collecting Shrines, Failing to pay Shrines for a negotiated item or service after receiving it, and misusing the Shrines Bank, Casino, Lottery, or any other facilities in any way. Your Shrines will be confiscated.

TERMS VIOLATIONS
Topics and message posts that violate the TOS will be deleted from the boards, and additional penalties, such as experience or Shrines loss, may be applied at the moderator's discretion. Re-posting deleted violations (yours or those of others) is also considered a violation and will be dealt with more severely.

Messages and topics may be removed at any time and for any reason at the sole discretion of The Flux Network and its designated moderators. User accounts may be warned, suspended, or revoked at any time and for any reason at the sole discretion of The Flux Network and its designated moderators. All determinations of what is "acceptable" and "unacceptable" content will be determined solely by The Flux Network and whoever it designates as moderators. You agree that the decision of the moderators and administrators is final, and you may not legally contest their rulings. If you believe that the moderator "has it in for you," contact an administrator or the Webmaster.

It is important to note, however, that the enforcement of the some rules (the flaming and disruptive posting rules in particular) is either arbitrary or a function of the user's predilection for being a worthless troll. Moderators may have also taken to manufacturing their own rules not explicitly enumerated in this document. As a consequence, The Flux Network recommends you keep the above rules in mind but, like the justices in Griswold v. Connecticut, adhere also to the penumbras and emanations thereof and above all else make an effort to avoid proving yourself an expendable waste of server resources. Intentional, repeated, or severe violations are cause for the banning of your account, all use of the boards from your IP address or your entire ISP, and The Flux Network contacting your ISP or other relevant parties concerning your activities.
