New Years: Resolutions

Out with the old, and in with the new. A new year has rolled around, and now I will be writing the wrong thing on all of my checks for at least two weeks. I’m personally glad that the year is over. There were some things that happened that I rather wish hadn’t involving people and situations. However, since I can’t take anything back, I just keep right on stomping forward while leaving people folded along the side of the road.

I’m not too different from people, and I have done something that many go through as ritual around this time of the year. Whenever the calendar rolls around, people make resolutions about what they are either going to do or not do in the new year. Well, I may be a little late with my list, but there’s still a lot of time left on this rotation, so won’t you please join me as I go through my list of resolutions for 2005.

...

I will quit smoking, only to start again months later and then quit again only to start again.

I will lose at least 10-15 pounds in weight, which can actually be done by wearing less clothing.

I will avoid court costs by still wearing clothes, but still somehow losing weight.

I will stop being too secured with information about myself and reveal that I am a 17 year old girl from Nebraska, and my last name is not Burgess.

I will finish writing Therapy or I will destroy it. If finished, I may let others see it. Doubtful.

I will not tell you what Therapy is. Eat it.

I will get rid of all the gimmicks, of all the bullshit that I do because I think I have to for people. I will finally start to be who the fuck I am, and not what I constructed myself to be.

I will stop drinking and telling people I’m from Nebraska.

I will actually consider liking things that I write.

In the summer, I will transfer schools in furthering the attempt at making something out of my retarded ass in the field of psychology.

I will not save a ton of money on my car insurance; screw that little green bitch.

I will attempt to be a warmer, more caring Juggernaut, only to have people stay away from me even more because they think I am up to something, which will result in my becoming colder and more evil.

I will stand firm in my belief that The Lord of the Rings series of books is insanely overrated.

I will still never watch Titanic or Armageddon, even if it could get me laid.

I will quit my job, because I am tired of dying a little inside every day.

I will hold off on quitting my job for a while because I needs the cash yo.

I will hit that.

I will attempt to stop cursing as much as I do, only to fail when I fucking swear while saying this shit.

I will actually listen to people when they tell me that I am in fact not a heartless, unthinking machine.

I will not get any more sleep than I do now…not really a resolution, I just know I won’t.

I will make a concerted effort to see people that have seemed to have fell along the wayside because...well, I don’t know how it really happened. Sorry.

I will ultimately dismiss liking anything that I write.

I will continue my search for spiritual enlightenment, even if it means walking away from other places and people and burning bridges, and even if it means admitting things to myself that I keep buried.

I will keep telling people how I see things when they ask me what I think, and also when they don’t ask me.

I will not be stopped by anyone but myself.

I will hit that again.

I will figure out what the fuck people are talking about in the second and third Matrix movies.

I will give up on that when I keep getting blinding headaches and not being able to get over how much heavier everyone looks when compared to the first movie. I can’t be alone on noticing that.

I will keep writing because I am apparently a masochist.

I will only get around to doing probably about six of these things.

I will take the under on that wager.

I will quit doing this article because I’m running out of things to say.

I will try to be more creative next year when I do this.
