Test your self

Do you ever find yourself excelling in most of your high school classes, or do you find yourself helping others that seem to be lagging behind? I, too, once did the same thing in high school. Then I took a test about myself and discovered that my innate ability only existed because I had a different learning style than most people. These results helped me to better prepare myself for the future. I have tried to convey the complex result into an easy-to-understand format.

The first test was for my preferences of learning style. I have a blend of all three styles (visual, kinesthetic, and auditory). My visual takes up forty percent of my learning style. Part of the reason I did so well in school was my ability to understand most of what I could only see. When I was in middle school, I was able to learn quicker than the others were, because I could learn just by seeing what the teacher was writing on the board. Next, my auditory also takes forty percent of my learning. This helped me tremendously when the teachers were not writing anything but were only talking. I was able to write what I heard in such a way that it would satisfy both the visual and the auditory. Now the third type of learning style is where I got myself into trouble. My kinesthetic (touch or physical) style acquires the remaining twenty percent. Because of the equality of my auditory and visual learning styles, I was able to catch on very rapidly to the lessons. In turn, this caused me to be restless after I was done with any assignment given to me. The teachers never understood, so I usually got in trouble. Not until after I took this test and reviewed the results, did I fully perceive why I was able to catch on so quickly.

The second test I took was to determine my temperament. When I finished, the results said that I was a Guardian. At first, I did not know how I received this description but then I read on and I began to understand. The characteristics of a Guardian are dependable, helpful and hard working. I feel dependability is an important characteristic to have in order to be trusted. If you can not depend on someone to take care of a task then that also makes you not want to trust them with other things. Being helpful is the second characteristic of the Guardian. This is what began to make me realize why I am a Guardian. Back in high school, I would always try to help other students grasp the lessons. It is the third characteristic, hard working, that I partially disagree with. I am a lazy person at nature and I do not really like to work if I can get out of it. If I do find myself in a situation where I need to put forth an effort I will give it one hundred percent. After I compared the Guardian with the other personalities, it does make sense that I am a Guardian.

The third and final test, the self-assessment test, indicated that I am a Relater. Basically this means that I associate well with others, am an excellent listener, and supportive. I do not just go up to people and talk to them but when the need arises I can go talk to someone without much hesitation. Some people may not want to speak to me because they might think I am weird or some other reason, but most people seem to have no problem talking with me. If someone were to come up and talk to me, they would find that I am easy to talk to. I listen to the people when they talk. I try to get a feel for what the person is saying so that I can sympathize with them. Going back to my learning style, the fact that I have good auditory skills helps me to listen to others. I always try to be supportive to the people I am talking with. I have discovered that encouraging others will lift their spirits and assist them with the problems that they are facing. This also helps me when I try to work with others on schoolwork. Overall, I am usually reasonable when it comes to people’s personal feelings.

In conclusion, the three tests truly helped me to better understand my overall personality. Now that I reflect back on the results, I realize that taking these tests earlier would have helped me tremendously in several situations I have found myself in.
