Cave Story - Why You Should Play It
K.
If you didn't know, Cave Story is a free platformer/Metroid/Castlevania thing that you can download. About 2 MB or so total, and you don't need an emulator or anything.
That's one reason right there. It's free. It'll take like thirty seconds to download (Unless you're on crap AOL like Kenri, lolz), and you can try it out.
Now, it also has pimp music. Like, the best music I've heard. And it isn't formally composed and orchestrated... no, it's just synthesized. About what you'd hear from a SNES, but extremely awesome music. Add to that, it was all composed by one guy, who must be a genius, because he said he put notes together as he went along, picking whatever sounded good.
Third, the story.
The story actually isn't that bad. It stars you, a mysterious robot who suddenly just wakes up in a room. You exit, walk down the caves, and find yourself a sleep gunsmith and a gun. Being the pimp action hero you are, you take the gun, and find yourself the Polar Star! It sort of sucks, but you take what you can get.
From there, you find yourself in a good tale about an evil Doctor who gets ahold of the Demon Crown, and begins to capture Mimigas - the resident bunny-people of the island - and uses them to grow Red Flowers. These Red Flowers turn generally friendly Mimigas into extreme killing machines, which he plans to unleash on the Earth.
That's a small snippet. And there's more if you go for Hard Mode... >_>
Speaking of Hard Mode, there are three different endings for this game! Although, one of them doesn't really count, as it doesn't roll the credits or anything. So, two endings. One of them is the 'Normal' Mode, and the other is a 'Hard' mode. The Hard mode ending kicks ass, but you have to go through this uber-hard dungeon and beat a hard boss at the end. Ever now, people struggle to do it...
The graphics are about NES-SNES level, but they still seem to fit in with the spirit of the game. Everything looks really good, and at the ending credits, it has some nice pixel art done by the creator... Pixel. It's worth it.
But yeah, that's it. Kind of short, but I'm telling you, it won't hurt you to try it.
You can download it at:

If you don't atleast try it then you can go to hell. If your name is Kenri and you don't beat it then you're a Nintendo fanboy. >=\
... Yeah, this wasn't really a review. <_<;
Close enough for me.
